I don't usually write reviews but my experience at this nail salon warrants one. This was the second time that I visited Spectrum - the first was to get a gel-x set and pedicure with a friend, which was fine. This time, however, all I wanted was a builder gel fill but I left with two cut fingers and pure disappointment. I could tell that the woman doing my nails was shaving aggressively, but I figured she wanted to be quick & efficient. I didn't feel the cuts when they happened, otherwise I definitely would've said something about the pain. However, later in the process, I heard her say "oh" and I noticed that my left ring finger was ACTIVELY bleeding. Most frustratingly, she did not say sorry OR address the blood, rather, just started cleaning it like nothing happened. Then I looked at my right ring finger and saw cut skin there as well. I got light headed but couldn't muster up the courage to object. I shouldn't have to. The photos do not do it justice because as I mentioned, my left ring finger was BLEEDING down the nail. To make things worse, this nail technician was extremely rude and short. When I asked her if my left pinky nail could be shortened to match the length of my right pinky, she looked at it and didn't say a word. It wasn't until all the paint was finished that I then asked her again "can we please make this length match"? And she finally said she was going to, as if my question was an imposition. The audacity. At the end of the appointment, I still tipped (less than I normally do), regretfully-so. When I asked her if her name was one of the displayed venmo cards she said "no". Unfortunately, I do not have her name but she was on the younger side with glasses. I would not recommend unless you want to feel rushed, ignored, and even injured. I will not be going back to this salon. read more

Finally a good spot thats in my area!! I've been nail salon hopping in my area trying to see which one works best and I think it's this spot. I used to go to their Guerrero location but moved districts. Didn't realize there was one in my new area! I requested Ellie because I read other reviews saying how good she is. And yelpers didn't lie - Ellie did such a beautiful and clean job with my nails! I love the staff here (Quynh also does good nails). The last few times I was helped by the older woman and at first she did a great but I started noticing she was getting sloppier with her work and a lot of times the nails were unevenly painted and I had to keep letting her know. I typically get the same design but the last time I asked for a specific design, she said she couldn't do it which was disappointing. I've gone to this nail salon about six times or so. I usually get gel nails and regular pedicures. I really liked how Hannah would shape my fingernails. She has a good eye for making my nails look even and pretty despite my thumb nail beds actually being kinda crooked. I stopped going for a while because I got a few too many gel nails manicures rapid fire and the filing of the top surface of my nails wore my nails down and they felt a little sore/ sensitive to the touch for a couple months. So schedule some breaks if notice some heavy filing of your nails. I'm a little annoyed to see all the cool designs being done by Ellie nowadays with Builder gel because when I asked about designs back then, they treated me like I was crazy asking for designs. They grumpily told me, "No designs." It's amazing how many advances there have been in the nail industry due to new techniques from Asia. The builder gel, catseye, magnetic, 3D designs, Kaise, glitter designs, etc are too cool. The possibilities are now endless. read more

A solid spot! I came here for short gel x extensions with a chrome or cat eye design for my graduation nails that would also hold up for my trip. I booked on classpass, which was super easy. I ended up finding a gorgeous cat eye shade that I got so many compliments on - I just wish the cat eye wasn't an extra charge. The nails lasted me about 5 weeks before I removed them with no chipping or peeling off. Definitely a no nonsense place that knows what they're doing. read more

Have been coming to spectrum for over a year and strictly go to them. Since hannah left it has not been the same level of service. Got a gel builder manicure today sat in the chair at 5:05 and nail tech was complete by 5:40... 35 minutes for a full gel builder manicure paying 70 dollars before tip.I asked multiple times to fix the shaping and overall the quality of the work was poor the gel itself is not even with bumps across the entire nail, none of my fingers are the same length and the shape is very sub par. I could tell they were in a rush to get to other clients so assuming that's why. But still you should not lower the quality of your service just to get more people in, I will happily come back another day to get my $70 worth... read more

$140 for gel x and regular pedicure She didn't charge me for the art because it took so many times to get accurate but what was more frustrating is if I didn't say anything there wouldn't have been any attention to detail, attempt to make these uniform. Originally I just wanted a nude nail but the photo I showed her had more of a white tip so she suggested ombré and as someone who has had ombré nails it was not blended well, it was a straight across line on some nails which I think looks terrible. I kept having to give feedback even after showing the photo and leaving it up for her because I realized the quality was just not going to be there. Plus some of my nails are not attached to the gel x nail and there are full blown gaps that I know are just going to get worse and will get stuff stuck in them that I can't get out and that will make the nail look awful. Super disappointing nail experience and outcome. For hours of time and a good chunk of change I expect to get really good nails from nail techs who are artists and care about the outcome and my experience. I kept giving feedback and kept sharing my concerns but it wasn't helping. I also think it's not great policy to assume people can come back for a quick fix that easily as was suggested to me if a nail comes off. I am traveling for 2 weeks and wanted my nails done and done well so that they would last. so again, just very disappointing. All that to be said the ladies were and are very kind, their place is very nice and welcoming and I would go back for a simple manicure or pedicure or try another nail tech if I'm up for another gel x attempt after this round. read more

I showed her pics of my inspo/ reference and I appreciated her input on some of the details and colors. She made sure to check in with me throughout the process to make sure I was ok with everything. I needed to get several things done and she did an awesome job on all: 1. She took off my old 3D gel using an e-file 2. I had one broken nail that she miraculously fixed 3. Came here for a last-minute pedicure last night before my trip to Europe. My appointment was at 6:30. I got seated promptly. Everything about the pedicure was great until the paint job. The lady put on very light coats and you could actually see through the polish when I left. She also didn't remove some paint that was on my skin and left behind a lot of cuticle. I enjoyed the massage and the salt rub, along with the massage chairs in the complementary bottle water. I don't know if my nail tech wasn't as experienced as others but for $40 plus tip I'm a tad bit disappointed. I even brought in my own brand new bottle of nail polish and a topcoat. There were gobs of nail polish on the cap when I left and it was sticky. I hope the polish job lasts the duration of my trip to Europe otherwise I'm going to be pretty bummed. read more

With a quality manicure, the grow-out phase should look smooth and natural--not like little "balloons" forming at the base of your nail. That puffed-up look means the product was applied too thick or unevenly. Hannah's work grows out beautifully, which shows her skill and precision. Super cute design that's very well done and fast! It was awesome they were able to fit me in as a walk-in for Apres gel-x extensions. Everyone was super friendly and efficient. I typically do gel-x extensions on myself and I can confirm they do all the proper prep work on the nail and cuticles and use genuine Apres products. I got this set done 3 weeks ago and there is zero lifting or peeling! I love the design and I am very happy with how they came out. I would recommend Spectrum to anyone who wants to get gel-x done and to anyone interested in nail art. They also do regular mani's and have a wide selection of chrome powders and polished. I also thought their pricing was very reasonable and would happily pay the price for this level of effort and intricacy. Only feedback I'd have for them is please wear a mask when you're filing!
