Over the past few years, I have purchased several fitted dress shirts and two $2,500 Canali suits from this location. My last shopping experience for my second suit, unfortunately, made me not want to return. My first experience was with Michael G several years ago. He was extremely nice and helpful, showing me options and explaining the differences in the fabrics and where they were made. The fitting experience was great. I felt good at the end, making a big purchase. Later, I called to get some fitted dress shirts, and they had all my information on file. I trusted Michael and had him ship them to me; I didn't even need to come in; it was a very premium experience. The second time I purchased a suit, the experience was exactly the opposite. The woman who helped me seemed uninterested. She really didn't want to help at all. Given her brash, unenthusiastic behavior, I was hoping to go through the process myself, so I asked if she could pull up the profile Michael had made for me. Turns out they only save the customer measurement details for a year now. Seems ridiculous to save money on basic data storage rather than keeping customer records to expedite and provide good service. When I was trying on the suit, I felt rushed, and she never made me feel confident, which is always appreciated when making a big-ticket purchase. She didn't show me options or explain anything beyond saying the old color I had was no longer available, and the one I was holding was the new version they carried. When I received the suit 2 weeks later, the alterations were sloppy as well. Loose threads and not packed well. You'd think it was a $200 means warehouse rental I received. Just got another suit this month and found out I can get a made-to-measure custom suit in Soho for 30% less! They lost a lifetime customer, as I have been buying suits from Nordstroms since I lived in Chicago starting in 2014. read more

I have to note here, I was in over the weekend and saw a floor manager lecturing another employee about getting customers to sign up for the "Nordy Club"... the manager was really on him, talking about how the guy made a $900 sale and how he really dropped the ball, etc... Needless to say I wasn't impressed by this--you *never* call out an employee in front of customers as he was loudly doing. I wasn't the only one who found it unprofessional; there were at least three other customers in earshot and I heard one make a comment about it. I had an exceptionally positive and inclusive experience with Jazmin S at the Nordstrom Men's store on West 57th street. I was looking to purchase a present for my boyfriend. Specifically was looking for recommendations for a beard/mustache product - however I needed some guidance picking a product out. In the past I made the mistake of picking a product my brothers used and realized not all products are designed for all skin and hair types. I explained to Jazmin my prior mistake purchasing products and that my partner is half black and showed a picture to illustrate his facial hair type - so I was looking for a product designed for his skin and hair type. Jazmin could not have been more helpful and showed me two different facial hair grooming kits to choose from - and explained the price difference between purchasing the individual products vs. products as a kit. She was both knowledgeable and transparent. Also, she paid attention to details while not making me feel rushed at all. She noticed when I walked by the YSL colognes that I wanted to purchase a YSL cologne for my BF but he loved certain scents of the brand and strongly disliked other scents and I did not recall which one was which. So I commented in passing "I'll have to bring him back in person to get the cologne". While I was checking out Jazmin dropped some YSL cologne samples in the bag and my BF ended up really liking one scent- so now I know which cologne to purchase! Jazmin did me a great job with the facial kit recommendation, my bf LOVED the kit we chose and his bandmates were a bit envious- one said "my girlfriend doesn't buy me stuff like this after my performances!" Stopped by to look for Mack Weldon apparel and found this store to be amazing. They carry high end items, but also have sale racks. There are three floors of everything from footwear, jewelry, apparel, to a full bar, in case you want a drink in-between shopping. They even had a DJ, playing great music. The staff is super helpful and ready to answer any questions. If you're looking for high end items for Christmas, come to the Nordstrom Men's Store. All of your senses will be amazed and you will, most definitely, be making someone very happy with your purchase. read more

However, what completely shaped my experience was the bar next to men's suiting. We stopped by to get a drink and we were the only ones there. The man working today was on the phone when we walked up. We waited. He continued to have his conversation and ignored us. After a couple minutes, we walked away. This is a terrible customer experience. While the overall store was nice, this unacceptable experience was the key factor of this review. If employees that work behind a bar are there to serve drinks, what is the purpose of even having the bar if they are not interested in serving drinks or even acknowledging customers? read more

Today I walked into Nordstrom's Men's Store on 235 West 57th Street looking for a suit as well as some fashionable looking slacks when I can dress more casually for my job. I knew I was going to need some assistance and fortunately for me, Nimah appeared and spent the next two hours assembling various suits that might meet my requirements. Within minutes, I was impressed with Nimah's knowledge of men's clothing. She also introduced me to Yucel Gol, who is a gifted tailor. Together they helped me pick out a great new wardrobe that will make me look and feel great! Normally I shop at Nordstrom's Rack where you can get great clothing for significantly lower prices, however, for special occasions, I think it's worthwhile to spend the extra dollars and get great looking clothing that might pay off on a great date or to look at your best when you need to clinch a business deal! read more

I had a peculiar experience here and I'll probably never return to this location. I wanted to purchase a Moncler vest, and came into the store to try on since I've packed on several pounds since I purchased my Moncler coat several years ago. The vest was not in store, but I was informed I could order online-- as they had one left. As I wanted to purchase two gift cards for $1000 each, I was informed I would need to go to the lower level and purchase both gift cards there. I let the employee know I needed two gift cards and she says okay, but then resumed helping another customer. After several minutes, she summoned another employee to handle. For whatever reason, when I inserted my credit card, it declined. She attempted to do it again, and it goes through. After that, I attempted to get the second card, but by this point, several employees, and a couple customers are all looking around, which led to my discomfort. The transaction continues to decline and I'm confused why--I contacted my credit card company-- they informed me for my protection they were looking into it. I had the entire conversation on speaker phone because I feel like they are looking at me as if I was attempting a scam. The representative tells me they would call me back just to make sure everything was okay and they could ultimately process the purchase. However, by this point, an employee must have went and sought out a manager, who came and wanted to know what was going on. I informed her of what was going on, as did her staffer, to which, I received a return call from my credit card company, which also, was on speaker phone, for the ears of everyone to listen in. The transaction was given the okay by them, and the manager, allegedly processed the gift cards. She informs me about their Nordy program and how I could get points, etc. She claimed to have signed me up, took my information, and I took the two gift cards and left. My office is about five minutes away and when I was back, attempted to purchase the Moncler vest online, however, the card showed they had no value. I'm confused, at this point, then I also think back that as I walked back to my office, I looked for that email from Nordstrom about the Nordy program, but I never received anything. Also, right as I was about to leave, the manager wanted to take a photograph of both gift cards, which also was odd. I called the customer service line and I was informed for whatever reason, the manager reported the gift cards as fraudulent. By this point, I'm irate, I felt interrogated while I was there, several employees huddled around to eavesdrop on our conversation. After answering an assortment of questions from the manager, I'm having a conversation on speaker just to prove that it is my card, and not fraud. The customer service representative on the phone was able to lift the fraud that was put on the cards erroneously by the manager, and I was ultimately able to use them. Unfortunately, with this debacle, the vest, that I ordered, got cancelled because they didn't even have the damn vest in stock. Nonetheless, after I pick another vest, and use the remainder of the gift card, I will never shop at this Nordstrom, or maybe Nordstrom, in general. This was handled poorly from top to bottom-- and I don't appreciate it. I had every intent to return and give her a piece of my mind, but I was talked off the ledge, by someone. The good news here is apparently great fashion options. I'd been waiting to visit this store since it opened, but I was delayed by the pandemic and a reluctance to travel from the Midwest during it. I have been disappointed by my local store because of limited stock and a staff turn over that resulted in poor customer service. In the past year, they have had zero suits, limited sports coats, and 5 ties. The merchandise looks like a bruise. With that in mind, I was pretty enthused about visiting the Manhattan store. I followed another guy into what was apparently the main entrance. He stopped to ask directions while I waited about 10 feet behind him. Me, to the staff person: Where do I find the men's department? Staff: "Like I just said, it's across Broadway." Me: (wondering if this is a common mistake, perhaps there should be clearer signage) "Thanks?" Guy who had been in front of me (once we were outside again): "A bit testy, isn't he?" Once inside the correct location, I found a colorful, well-organized first floor. I wanted to get a couple things right away, and then get help to discover more. I asked a staff person to point me to my favorite t-shirts. She said she was sorry but didn't know and was unfamiliar with the brand. She directed me to another staff. I waited as two sales associates folded jeans and caught up on workplace news. One watched and periodically smiled as I looked on and waited. Finally the other interrupted his conversation to ask if I needed help. Again, I stated my mission. He pointed out the area I was looking for. Once there, I located what I wanted but needed a hand because I'm color blind. Again, I looked for a sales person, but this time got a more typical Nordstrom greeting: "I like your shirt! Now, how can I help you?" Back at the rack of shirts, he helped me with two of the three shirts I wanted, but found that the third, navy blue, was not in stock. He rang those up, and I was out the door with 2 t-shirts. Period. No offer to help, show me more, invite me to update my wardrobe. There were no fewer than six associates on the floor. There were two other customers. Had the best service experience here, waaaaaayy better than the Flagship store (flagship store was good service) just these folks over here at the Me 's store are dope... Mark took care of us. He literally took our food and drink order from the dressing room! He also grabbed our pick up order, and when the shoes didn't fit my husband he did the return and ordered the next size up ensuring it gets here prior to our departure from this great city! We walked over to the restaurant and was greeted by Vince who knew exactly who we were and he got our food and bring it to our table. I was shocked that I didn't have to explain that we just ordered food from the dressing room and we are here to eat it now. Lance and Mark really made our day. Now adding the sugar on top. Mark had our purchases delivered to our room. We didn't expect that.. we was just trying to figure out if we would take the bags back to the hotel and then go see the floats... he made that easy! It's just not my thing. Too much high end and I just didn't feel like it lived up to the hype. These kind of "high end" shopping experiences are never my thing...and the staff seemed nice and welcoming without being pushy... but still....even as a splurge, and I can't see myself being comfortable here. I was in dire need of new jeans that didn't have holes in the crotch. I usually get my jeans from Uniqlo or Gap and I had done some online research and I was really looking forward to getting a pair of jeans from Mavi, a brand of jeans that are from Turkey, and according to the Nordstrom website they had my size and that it was available today (yesterday). I went to the store and was greeted by a salesperson that was deeply unhelpful and I asked him if they carried Mavi Jeans and he said no but he told me that there were other brands of jeans that were similar to them. I tried on a pair of jeans from AG which were $125 (umm..WHAT?!? When did jeans get so expensive???) which were too tight in my legs. I did check out Topman jeans but I didn't like them because they were ripped and I could have done that to my own pair of jeans. read more

First off, love that they accept returns from other departments apart of Nordstrom. This won't be as necessary as it has been in the past with the flagship store opening in 2 weeks but still good to have an extra place to take care of returns. Upon arrival they had someone opening the door to greet shoppers, such a nice touch. The store itself is large and beautifully kept. Everything was folded and in order -- refreshing to see at a high traffic retail store in NYC. The men working the register were so nice, filled me in on some of the details around the new Nordstrom store opening up and let me know they have a bar and coffee shop upstairs for future visits. This store is really nice. It's brand new and has three floors, with a cafe in the basement and a bar on the top floor. The staff at both places was nice. The barista was friendly, but the coffee was unremarkable. The bar upstairs had a limited selection, but the bartender worked with me to come up with something I'd like. It's exclusively men's clothing, which is pretty unusual, and there is a lot of staff around to help you find things. They also have a personal stylist program if you want a lot of help, which you can sign up for on their website. I only recommend this if you're looking to spend a lot of money. Apparently the typical amount of clothing bought is $2,500-$10,000. There are a half dozen personal stylists on staff at the moment, the most senior of which is Ted Samin (25 years experience). He's great, very friendly and professional, decisive but also accommodating. The personal stylist and an assistant will pick out tons of clothes for you to try on over the course of two hours. It takes a lot of the stress out of shopping but it also ends in a high pressure sales situation, so...tradeoffs. It's fine so long as you know what you're getting into. They host events from time to time. For their half year sale, they had people painting shoes in the basement and had the music up a bit louder than normal. read more

This review is specifically for Sam and the shoe shine stand. Yesterday I visited Nordstrom with my brother who stopped in to get some shoes shined (fairly expensive Allen Edmonds he uses daily for work.) The shoe care expert/shiner Sam provided truly exceptional service. There is a serious attention to detail and expertise at play, he even used a lighter to melt any threads that had come out and then used his finger to push them back in because that is cleaner and better for the shoes than cutting them. Sam is an artist - he has a strong knowledge of leather care and was sincere in his craft. He's also funny and engaging, and overall just a nice guy! To top it off Nordstrom provides this service for $5 +tip. And in my brother's word is "infinitely better than Leather Spa at a fraction of the price." Would definitely recommend checking out Sam at Nordstrom for shoe care. Total hidden gem. Only they moved the shoe stand that's right next to the front door so maybe not anymore! read more

Now this is what a retail experience is supposed to be in 2020. I went in for a new backpack for work, and as I took my time to look through the choices, not one, but three different salespeople came back to check on me, make suggestions and just be human and chat about life. That is a huge improvement from the usual experience where salespeople just read a tag on the item and you clearly could have just read it by yourself. I made my decision after comparing for a while, and the salesperson walked with me to the register where there was only one person wrapping up ahead of me. They carefully packed my awesome new backpack in a reusable, water-resistant tote bag that looks more Balenciaga than Big Brown Bag (yeah new grocery/errands bag), and sent me on my way. There was no hard sell or weird "do you need shoes to go with that" sales pitch. I paid full price and did it gladly because I feel the experience started at the buyer level. By the time I stepped in the store, I found an edited selection in my price range of what I had seen online. It made it easier to make a decision to purchase while experiencing the item in store. The vibe is so cool at this emporium, I literally wanted to stay longer and have a drink under the dome near the entrance -- there was a live DJ spinning who was reading the vibe of the crowd. I just received my first compliment on my backpack, but in the future I will gloat that I got it at Nordies Men's. I've been to dozens of Nordstroms around the country, and I hope this is the shape of things to come -- I'm talking to you Merrick Park, listen up! read more

I have been eager to see this new Nordstrom and it did not not disappoint. The guard at the door, Raphael was a big sweetheart. I didn't bother with anything on the first floor I was there to see the shoes. Specifically all the shoes I don't get to sell in my small store. Even more specific the best of the best luxury shoes and behold and entire floor. They were all there in beautiful displays, Gucci, Prada, Louboutin. They also have brands that I do carry but in a much more expanded collection. Too Boots, Magnanni's and Ferragamo's I have never seen before but that's why they are in Manhattan. read more

I recently went to Nordstrom Mens Store after finding a pair of ECCO dress shoes online that I liked and wanted to try on. The store itself is laid out nicely and is organized and clean. I went to the cashier desk and was soon helped by a salesperson named Clark. I showed him what I was looking to buy, and he soon came back with the shoes as well as two other pairs that were similar to try on for comparison purposes. I tried on all three and wound up sticking with the ECCOs that I originally picked out, but felt good knowing that I had compared them with other pairs. Clark was very personable, courteous, and did not try to up-sell me on anything else. He even reached out after the sale to make sure everything was still going well with the ECCOs. That kind of customer service seems rarer and rarer as time goes on, so it was much appreciated! I visit this store from time to time because I live on the same street however this will probably be my last visit. I went with my husband to purchase some pants on a rainy Sunday. The guys upstairs were pleasant (Oscar) however the experience downstairs was totally different. As we were going down the stairs there were 2 guys, they looked my husband up and down and said "hi." That was the last we saw of them. They were rude, not helpful and did not offer assistance. The experience was humiliating and disrespectful I did not appreciate it. Love, love, love this store! So glad to have a convenient place to shop for finer men's clothing. I come here once a week and get something I love. It's on the way home and to work so it's a perfect place to shop. I prefer their selection to other nearby stores and the Nordstrom branded items are comparably prices to JCrew but better quality. Great selection on shoes and shirts. Also they price match automatically which is a great feature. If you're in the mood to stop by for a drink or a bite they have a nice selection of drinks and a coffee bar. I enjoy shopping online and picking up in store. Very convenient. I wish they had more Norse Projects clothing! There aren't many good places to buy this great brand. They have lots of Rag and Bone jeans but not a great stock of their chinos which are awesome. I mean slim fitting black chinos for work? Yes please. I wish Nordstrom would expand their fanatic line of men's shirts and essentials. You know, once you find a shirt that fits and feels great you want to stock your closet full of them! They often change their store layout to accommodate the pop up stores. Which is great to pull in the super fashion conscious people but for your regulars I just want to come in, find what I want, and head home. But overall, so grateful to have a men's only store. No more slow elevators at Saks or the confusion at Bergdorf. Bloomingdales is nice but far and the staff in Soho seem mad all the time. Not at Nordstrom! As a Nordstrom alumni, I hold this company at a very high standard. Having served 10 great years at some of the top doors in So. Cal. I've come to expect a certain level of service. Since I have left the company, I have been a faithful shopper who has been disappointed in stores not doing even the bare minimum when it comes to service. Nordstrom has built its reputation on service and it has, and continues to lack in so many ways in California. That being said-- Whoever trained these amazing New Yorkers, I commend you. Every single person who we encountered on our visit there (2 months ago) was just above and beyond. Not to mention, both the men's and women's stores are just dreamy. I know how many years it took to make these stores come true-- I'm so happy to see such thoughtfulness that went into every detail, every corner of each store. This store needs to do a much better job at hiring sales associates. It seems they only hire minorities that are bitter and that go out of their way to ONLY serve and cater to white people. These sales associates deliberately ignore other minorities especially if you are Black. They do not greet you or say anything to you unless you go up to them first. When you are browsing and walking in different sections, the same thing, they ignore you and are too busy on their phones. Meanwhile if they are serving someone it's a white person and they are just as friendly as they want to be. It's 2022 and this racism against your own is unacceptable. read more

A lot of the staff bids you a great day as you exit the store, I never seen that kind of customer service, even back home in California! I went in today to buy a dress shirt for a special event I'm attending and Daniel (Dan) F. Was the person helping me. I didn't know exactly what my size is for a dress shirt but Dan was kind enough to measure my size. I ended up buying the dress shirt since the fit was perfect. Thank you Dan! I visited Manhattan last week and as I hail from the land of Nordstrom, I had to check out the new Men's Store and it did not disappoint. The layout was quite nice and beautifully designed. Despite being from Seattle, I'm quite jealous of this store! My only quibble is the service was not quite what I am accustomed to at home but I am sure that will be fixed with time. Kudos to Nordstrom for a wonderful new store that I will be sure to visit the next time I'm in NYC. read more
