Terrible. I purchased shoes recently and they didn't have my size in stock or to pick up in any nearby stores. An older guy was helping my mom and I. She bought shoes on her own and he rang me up after. I didn't know what size to pick between two sizes because of the fit of the shoe. I was about to ask him about the other sizes of the shoe, but then he rudely cut me off and said "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" really fast while waking away. That was the first red flag. My mom and I should have bought out shoes from literally anyone else. So anyway, the guy's running around like a bunny, handling 3 different customer inquires and their shoes at once. The guy was going crazy for commission, so he couldn't have the decency to help one customer at a time. There were plenty of employees around doing nothing and on their phone, so it's not like he had to manage an entire store on his own. So at the register I spelled out all of my info to him. I just knew this guy was spelling it all incorrectly. He wasn't even looking at the screen! He was looking up, down, side to side, seeing what customers he could get to instead of working on my order. Usually at Nordstrom when you're ordering something, you can verify it on the pin pad. That didn't happen. I asked for the receipt after I paid because there was no point in dealing with this guy anymore. I thought that the order number would be on the receipt, and I could check if he typed in the write address when my order ships. Nope, he said there's no paper, it will be emailed to me. So, I left and I went on with my day. No email ever came. I had no order number, confirmation nothing. So I knew he definitely spelled everything wrong. I had to call Nordstrom a million times over a WEEK LONG PERIOD. They just kept saying, we can't find your order, are you sureeeeee you got it here????? Like YES I KNOW WHERE I PURCHASED MY SHOES WTF???? Then they just kept telling me that they don't understand how I don't have an order number and asked me what I would like THEM TO DO ABOUT IT. Literally they were asking me in such a rude tone why don't I have a paper receipt, and putting the blame on me. PUT THE BLAME ON YOUR EMPLOYEE WHO LITERALLY DOESN'T HAVE ANY MANNERS OR TRAINING!!!!! HE CAN'T EVEN SPELL INFO FOR AN ORDER, AND THAT'S MY FAULT HOW???? They kept transferring me back and forth and back and forth with no resolution. Absolute waste of my time. The manager told me she would call me back, but of course, she never did. My package ended up coming SO LATE. I literally forgot about these shoes and I was surprised when they showed up. I checked the shipping label, and yup, I was right. guy literally misspelled every single letter of all my information. I don't even understand how my package was delivered to me because what he wrote was not even remotely close. This was so frustrating and I didn't appreciate how the store acted like I was a problem for them and like they didn't believe I purchased the shoes???? I'm not giving myself a headache by coming here anymore. Absolute mess of a store. read more

I am writing to complain about an associate I dealt with in the designer section of this location. She was working around the clearance racks in the designer section specifically. I am unsure of her name but I was shopping on August 10th, 2021, and she was wearing a pink dress and had brown hair. I found a pink, long sleeve Helmut Lang dress, the name of it is the Veltage Rib Minidress. There was only size extra large and I really loved it and I asked her if she could please see if there it comes in XXS, XS, or small that I could order. She proceeded to tell me that that XL was the only size left in the company. I said "Oh okay, thank you for checking", and I extended my hand to take the dress back so I could look at it in the mirror to somehow see if I could make a bigger size work for me. She held on tightly to the dress and wouldn't release it for at a good minute and stared me down. This was so awkward because she did not want to let the dress go, and I'm really not sure why. This is so unacceptable and I felt really uncomfortable. I ended up purchasing an Isabel Marant dress and a Skims hoodie from an associate in the lingerie department, who was really nice and helpful. I decided to look up the dress the Nordstrom website when I came home. I was shocked when I found out that there is XXS, XS and medium available to order online! How come the associate went to check on the dress, and told me that there is only XL left in the company? I am high risk for COVID due to a health condition, and I rarely shop inside stores. I'm really upset that she chose not to disclose the sizes to me, when they are clearly available because now, I cannot try the dress to even see how the color looks on me, or what the general fit look like. Like I said, I really try to limit going into stores. Since I decided to shop indoors that day, I'm really really disappointed in her training and her unprofessional behavior. I have shopped at this Nordstrom location for years and this experience really changed my trust in this store, and I will not choose to shop here again. This employee's behavior made the store lose a loyal customer. The employee working in lingerie was wonderful and she was extremely polite, I just wish that all employee's could behave this way. I think that the person working in the designer section on August 10th should really go through more training either on how to look up accurate sizes not to mislead customers and tell them there is only one size left in the "entire company", or rather, learn better customer service. We had lunch in the Nordstrom Cafe Grill (third floor of Nordstrom's). If you are jonesin' for their signature Basil Tomato Soup, you won't find it on the menu. Crab Bisque and it's divine! Also had the poke and the pommel frites with rosemary truffle oil. The waitstaff is perfect to a fault taking care of any needs. Nordstrom Department Store is known to provide everything for the upscale lifestyle, so why should their café be any different? Conveniently located on the third floor, the Nordstrom Café has good food for decent prices and is set up cafeteria/buffet style. You grab your tray and pick from the friendly display of entrees. Food selections include roasted chicken with potato and vegetables, salmon, various healthy salads and daily soups too. Also check out the selection of freshly made sandwiches and grilled paninis. A kid's menu is also available, in case you have a little one in tow, complete with take home cup, place mat and crayons. Make sure to save room for yummy desserts because there is an array of cookies and pastries tempting your taste buds. The Nordstrom Cafe is perfect for a quick bite and is the ideal way to recover after a serious shopping session. Shopping - as usual, the Nordstrom staff was very accommodating in every department, even acquiring items from the back stock room to show me or looking items up online to order while I was in the store. This was a different experience than I had in the Fashion Island Mall, a few weeks back where I couldn't get anyone to wait on me as they were engage in conversations. Horrific customer service in the MENS SHOES department. Yesterday 2/11/17 my wife and I were browsing the tables in men's shoes and were not greeted ONCE! We had been in the department for over ten minutes and not even a look. Only to find some pissed off looking girl standing behind the register texting. Finally my wife asked if we could get some help and she seemed very "put out" when asked this, then grabbed someone else from the back to help us. I'm assuming this is because she is their manager and not a sales person? We asked the man helping us if she was their manager and he said she was their ASSISTANT MANAGER. Anyways after handing us off to our sales person, she then proceeded to text behind the counter giving off a disgusted look the rest of the time being. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or that was just her face, but myself and my wife use to love shopping in men's shoes at south coast, but after yesterday we will never shop at that location again as long as she is working there. Awful customer service from a manager?! This review is for an incident that occurred on 08/26/2020-Today while shopping at this Nordstrom location I witnessed something deeply disturbing. I was shopping in the women's shoe department and witnessed a  Caucasian employee blatantly PROFILE and DISCRIMINATE against a young black woman. The employee was accusing the young black woman of trying to use her own employee discount in a way against company policy, for absolutely no apparent reason! As I started listening closely I heard that the employees at Nordstrom were following the young woman around the store, keeping a close eye on her as if she was going to steal from the same company she worked for! As the young black woman spoke to the manager she was in tears. Witnessing this happen broke my heart. I cannot believe this is the way Nordstrom treats their own employees. Nordstrom has always presented themselves as a very inclusive, progressive company. How they can treat their own employee in this manner is truly shameful. The obvious racial profiling is utterly disgusting. Adriana, the woman working in the shoe department who stereotyped, was rude, and completely inept needs to be fired immediately. I am appalled by the standards for management at Nordstrom South Coast Plaza. I drive out of my way from Newport to South Coast (yes, even through renovation) because I've had such fabulous experiences over the years. Today I was disgusted on the men's shoe floor when I overheard an employee spout out a racial remark about another customer. I was so shocked by her words and even more shocked when I found out that she is a manager in that department! Most companies have clearly defined values and would have a zero tolerance for a racial remark in the workplace. Nordstrom's standards for whom they hire and in this case promote is truly disturbing. I have no desire to return to this location because of the respect I've lost for Nordstrom management. Recently I needed a dress for a work-party and I had no idea what to buy. (Most of the time I hang out in denim.) Enter Michelle. She was soooo helpful!! She asked me several questions that really helped me to get focused...about comfort, color, did I get cold easy and what would the temperature be like at the event. I had picked from the rack a rather shapeless LBD. But she challenged me to look at something a bit more stylish. She brought in several dresses and I cannot tell you how much I loved them! She has amazing taste! I settled on an eggplant DVF dress - so elegant. I got lots of compliments - even from my husband who is usually pretty quiet. I went back a few days later and asked Michelle to help me pick out some new Paige skinny jeans - soooo cute! I even got a Rails blouse to go with them. Its that time of year again folks!!! The Nordstrom Annual Sale!!!! If you are tired of getting cheap crap from Forever 21 and H&M and want to pick up some high end quality stuff for half the price, now is the time to shop! The sale has been going on for a while but its not too late. The sale goes on until August 6th. All departments are marked down between 33%-50% off. I was able to pick up a pair of Diesel jean and 1 pair of Seven and stayed under $250. Some might say that is a lot, but you have to keep in mind at regular price that would of cost well over $400 maybe even close to $500. So when you think about it, high end and high quality denim for only @50 bucks that is a mega steal!!!! Oh yea the costumer service is on point, it is almost like having a personal shopper they really take care of you. LIVE A LITTLE, CHARGE IT UP =) read more

I recently visited Nordstrom to shop for dress shirts for my husband, and our experience in the men's department was outstanding. Jose provided exceptional customer service--he took the time to find the perfect fit and made the process so easy. When the store didn't have the right size available, he even helped us arrange to have the shirts shipped directly to our home, which we really appreciated. While we were there, we also browsed the women's dress section for myself. Unfortunately, the experience in that department didn't quite match the same level of service. It was a bit messy, and we didn't receive much assistance. Overall, a great experience thanks to Jose, and I'll definitely be back--just hoping for a more consistent level of service throughout the store next time. read more

I recently visited this Nordstrom 8/7/2023 and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment my family and I entered the store, it felt as though we were being judged for our ethnicity. The employees gave us cold looks and made us feel unwelcome. As if that wasn't enough, when we were leaving, the store alarm went off even though we hadn't taken anything. When we turned around, the employees were staring at us with judgmental expressions. This experience left us feeling humiliated and disrespected. It's disheartening that in this day and age, such discriminatory behavior still exists. Nordstrom needs to address these issues and ensure that every customer is treated fairly and with respect, regardless of their background. read more

I don't know how many times I have gone to the kids shoe department and have not been greeted. There are plenty of associates standing around but they will not make eye contact nor leave their conversations with their colleagues to make a sale. I now only go to grab a balloon for my daughter and order all my daughter's shoes online. So so my son bought me glasses and I guess they were purchased in 2021 when he opened his credit card he paid that off and you know obviously purchase other things along the lines after the glasses well, since the card was closed and in collections they credited my sunglasses credit to that close card and I don't get anything and they were birthday gift so go figure. I have to say that Nordstrom's has the best return policy I have ever seen. You can take anything back to this place and they will take it back no questions asked. I bought a dress their about a month ago and ended up not really liking the way the dress fit me so I took it back and they did not even give me a hard time. I ordered a silk nightgown from them online. When I received it, it still had the ink tag on it. I called them and they said to just drive it over to a store. I said that if I wanted to go to a store, I wouldn't have ordered it online. UPS picked it up, sent it to IOWA and two weeks later I got it back. I used to make fun of this place when I used to shop at Sears, lol but now I wish I knew them then! The quality of the clothes and the return policy that I need to take advantage of more often along with the great service is what makes me get my stuff from here. In my years of shopping experiences I have only had VERY few amazing encounters with sales associates. I was lucky enough to run into my new sales associate Dalinda. She not only is helpful, but such a kind person. She went above and beyond for me and my mom. She found us items we wanted and put in her ALL to get it done for us.
