This store has a great selection of beautiful clothing BUT they seem to be sold out of the most popular sizes (M-L) in everything I wanted. The layout of the store is easy to navigate and see everything available without having to search too hard. Everything is in its place and neatly folded. I really enjoy shopping here! Jcrew would not honor my price adjustment because I did not get my receipt adjusted within 6 days of the sale the had. Nowhere on the receipt was that 6 day policy mentioned. Nor did the manager mention that to me at the time of purchase when I asked about the upcoming holiday weekend. Jcrew, you just lost my business for life. I buy a lot of clothing from you every year. But not anymore. It's extremely difficult to go into a store during a holiday weekend when you also work retail. read more

As much as I like the clothes here please hire capable staff. I went into the store during the week and picked up a few items. I called the store two days after to check if another item was in stock (that I saw earlier in the week) to make sure it was still there. At first I was told that they don't carry that item anymore and to try the factory outlet store, excuse me!? LOL. It was just in your store two days ago. The associated typed in the wrong item number. Then I was put on hold for 4-5 minutes and was told no they don't have that item in right now. Annoyed I came in on my lunch as I work nearby and there was the sweater cardigan I wanted in the same size and same spot it was two days before! So either this associate doesn't know how to figure inventory out or I was just on hold and they "looked" (my a**!) and I was just told NO we don't have it. I used to work retail many years ago and I know all the tricks ;). Either way, hire staff that actually want to work with better customer service skills. The item I got today was 40% off which was awesome but your associates need training (bad) and it takes away from the shopping experience. read more

I went in today for the cyber Monday special and found a blazer on one mannequin that I was interested in. So I asked a female clerk with broken English if the specific size was available, but she kept telling me the on sale price. When I asked her to bring me the size to try on, she went to look for it but I found her helping others instead and totally ignored my request (this happened twice) so I went up to her and asked if she was getting my size then she directed me to the section where the outfit was placed then left me there without apologizing. What a joke! This isn't what J Crew I encountered just a couple months ago. I don't know whether it's holiday seasons so they have hard time finding the right staff or what?! This is disappointing! I hope the management sees this and do better to assist customers in needs. This completely takes the pleasure from shopping there! read more

Whenever I don't plan get anything at JCrew...I end up getting something at JCrew. Got lucky today in the sale section. Invested in a new sweater today. Yes, I INVEST in clothing. Just like you would invest in stocks. Tell your man that, it makes you sound really smart. Hee hee. All kidding aside, JCrew is timeless. That's what I like about them. You can wear these clothing year in year out. Trends are nice, but sometimes just a waste of money. I like sticking to the basics, yet elegant clothing of JCrew. You won't feel as bad "investing" in a nice sweater or other pieces.. Service is ok. Nothing to brag about. It's ok, I really don't like it when sales reps follow you around the store anyway. This review is for the evening shift employees at JCrew. I often find my shopping experience to be pleasant and stress-free in the evening. I think the store is more neat and well-kept during the evening hours compared to weekends or daytime. More importantly, the staff tends to be friendlier and more helpful in the night time; maybe because they're not constantly bombarded with too shoppers to overwhelm them. I used to dread coming here in the past because I didn't like the staff and their less than helpful attitude. So I limit my shopping to online or evening hours only. I recommend night time shopping at J Crew if you want a stress-free experience with friendly and courteous staff . I went to return a gift and they accused me of stealing, held me there, searched me and my belongings, and wouldn't let me go until security checked the cameras to confirm I wasn't stealing. This review is specifically for Brenda who works at the South Coast Plaza J.Crew. I've seriously never had a more positive in-store shopping experience. Shopping with Brenda helping me was like shopping with my best friend, but way more supportive lol. I had a TON of things to try on, every blazer and work pant in multiple sizes. I took an hour in the dressing room, which I know sounds ridiculous, and I apologized for taking so much time. She replied, "No, with investment pieces, you should take your time and be sure." Never have I felt so SEEN. I told her about my concerns with the fit of certain pants, and she recommended Lucille's, which is a tailor they send all their J.Crew customers. As I was in the dressing room, she also pulled other items from around the store that she thought I'd like. "Do you like these? These pants are only $15!!" she'd say to me in a hushed, best-friend-like conspiratorial way. And I'd gasp, "No way! They're $60 online right now." And she'd look at me like "mmhmm." I ended up buying nothing lol. BUT, I did place an order online which I picked up in the store a week later. I waved at her, and she remembered me! Showed me the Juliette blazer in linen blend - in my actual size, I might add - because they were $15 in store. It was a blazer I already had, but in the wool version, ha! Some of the reviews on here have to do with J.Crew as a company, as a brand, or as J.Crew corporate....which I find odd for a Yelp review. But in terms of in-store service, the actual people I encounter in store have always been SO helpful. And now they have Brenda, who's in a league of her own. read more

I wanted to say that this was my first time coming into the store. This review is over due but the big shoutout to Wendy. She helped me with choosing some cute dresses for a special occasion and let me know about the J Crew credit card. I applied on my phone as I shopped. And they let me use it same day =]. Be aware if you order online or in store to be shipped that there is no customer support! I ordered something in September and as of December 23, it's still not here. what's more insulting is the refund to be given was sent in an e-card. It was suppose to be back on my credit card. I found this out in an email. then ordered to pick up in store 2 vests for Christmas because it was available. go to store to find being shipped from the warehouse. I was told arrival 20th. It now shows order still processing so won't arrive as promised 3 times by December 23rd. You ask store for help, they will tell you sorry call customer service, which of course is no help. Cute clothes and friendly staff makes for a good shopping experience. That's J.Crew! I visited this location to return some items that didn't fit (I typically buy two sizes when I shop online to guarantee that one will be the winner). The guy who was helping me was patient and nice. I made it happen online due to their big sale so I had quite a bit of returns. He was efficient, and the whole process was easy, quick, and pleasant. As for the look of the store, it was well stocked and maintained. It appeared clean and organized which are major pluses when getting one's shop on. Dear J.Crew, No other retailer in the States embodies the spirit animal of a butterfly more than you do. Your business model is so structurally and geometrically transformative that I hardly recognize you whenever I come to visit. I wish I could say that it's not you and that it's me, but that simply isn't the case. My evergreen desire to dress like a walking prep-machine will always have a place in my wheelhouse. But as far as what I've seen, I can't help but wonder... Are you preppy or are you not? Are you beachy or are you not? Are you exclusive and trendy or are you not? Are you high-quality or are you not? Are you fast-fashion or are you not? Are you and J.Crew Factory one and the same or are you not? Are you and Mercantile one and the same or are you not? You're too focused yet too stretched thin. You're up too high and down too low. In all seriousness and at the risk of sounding rude, what are you even going for here? I do not recommend shopping here. It's a beautiful store and I've always gotten good service but today I went in and purchased 5 items and when I got home I realized four out of five of them were significantly cheaper online. I paid full-price on everything while the promotion online was up-to 50% off. In total I would've saved $74 if I'd ordered online instead! I reached out to customer service and they said "the price variation is due to the different costs associated with offering our products/services through the two channels" (which is bs if you ask me). They did offer me a price adjustment but what if I hadn't gone on the website and seen the promo? I would've just been unknowingly swindled out of $74?! So FYI fellow consumers, J.Crew themselves told me they don't want you to shop at this store; the "costs associated with offering products through the two channels" means it's better for YOU and THEM if you stay home and only buy online. Or better yet don't give them any of your money at all. read more

I placed an order for a Gift Card at 1 AM on 4/9. Upon completing the transaction, I realized that I had made an error in that I entered the incorrect BILLING information. The person receiving the gift ( a 9 year old) is not the person making the payment. Since it was 1 AM, my only recourse was to contact Customer Service by mail. This morning at 9 i called just to get an update. I wanted to cancel and reorder the product, thinking that this would be the easiest solution. I was told that orders cannot be changed after 1 hour of purchase. The person to whom i spoke was proof that ANYONE could get a job. How, in heaven's name, could i have called a business that was closed? Another time, shortly before this a girl's white linen jumpsuit was sent to a 9 yearly BOY instead of the T-shirt and shorts that I had purchased. Honestly, the full 5 stars attributed to this rating are for Grayson. I hadn't had the best experiences at J.Crew prior and never bought anything from the brand. Grayson helped me pick out the perfect outfit to start a post-grad job, and six months later I don't know where I'd be without his help! Whenever I go to J.Crew he's there with a smiling face, always eager to help. He's an incredible employee, and I don't think I would frequent J.Crew as much without him! read more

I've shopping at J.Crew for the longest time ever and always had a pleasant experience, until recently. When I walked in it was VERY obvious that they weren't prepared for the holiday season. They completely rearranged EVERYTHING, it became so difficult to find items and it became really bothersome. There were a few exceptions like the cashiers, not sure the names but they were really helpful! However, I did notice BLUE PAINTERS tape on the floor, which says "line starts here" it looked very cheap, and ghetto, which isn't J crew!! read more

I would have to give this location a one star or even less if possible. I usually go to the Mission Viejo location. My last shopping excursion at J. Crew will be my last. I went in and noticed a holiday shoe on the mannequin a few weeks ago. Needles to say the black and pink were displayed around the store. Asked for a size 7 and they could not get to that size in the stock room. Only the 10s were available. Next, the manager(who seemed so unorganized) told me she would call me after I ran my other errands within an hour when their stock person returned. So they have this new shoe displayed all over the store, but at 11:00 on a Sunday my size 7 is unable to be reached since it's the bottom sized box? No stock person around? Never even got a courtesy call. Needless the say, I wrote this review because they just mailed me a $25 off for being such a loyal customer. What a joke! I think I'll stick to Nordstrom where at least I'm appreciated. Everything goes on sale anyway at J. Crew and the employees that work at South Coast are awful. read more

This place is way over priced for a J. Crew. You can find the same merchandise at Brea or Mission Viejo for much cheaper. Plus they stopped carrying mens clothes at this location, major bummer, Its a "women only store" Get off your South Coast Plaza High horse J. crew...you arent Oscar De La Renta, Chanel, or Escada, bring your prices down from the stratosphere and have some humility. This is probably my least favorite J. Crew store. I am, admittedly, a J.Crew-holic and can probably list the J.Crew stores I've frequented over the years. This will sound obnoxious, but here goes: Pasadena, Glendale, Santa Monica, Mission Viejo, The Grove, Palos Verdes, San Francisco, Michigan Avenue (IL), North Avenue (IL), M Street (DC), Arlington (VA), SoHo (NY)... and several more. -__- Yes, my addiction is THAT bad. On that note, I am giving the South Coast Plaza store 2 stars for several reasons: 1. As a store in the "world-class destination" (or whatever) of South Coast Plaza, I expect a fabulous men's shop. Not so much. It's quite small, awkwardly positioned, and disappointing in general. Selection is minimal, especially with suiting and outerwear. Moreover, the sale section is always tiny and for some reason, really sloppy. I don't know if it's the high traffic, but it just doesn't look all that attractive. 2. The service blows here. I'm accustomed to welcoming faces and attentive service at other stores (especially Michigan Avenue and North Avenue in Chicago, Pasadena, and Arlington, VA for instance). I thought, oh well, maybe because it's SoCal, people are more laid-back and hands-off, but really, they're just not as considerate of customer wants or needs. Every time I've been to this store, either I'm ignored by snooty workers (come on, this is J.Crew, not Barneys... and even at Barneys, their staff is more attentive) or it's like finding a needle in a haystack for someone to open up a fitting room or to help look for a size. Do they assume we're just looky-loos and not really there to shop? All in all, this location is disappointing, but somehow I go back from time to time since it's the closest to me. They sadly closed their Brea store so now I'm forced to go to this location or Pasadena. I don't know why I keep giving this location a chance. Each time I go, I walk out empty-handed (which I suppose is also a good thing!) or bitter from mediocre customer service. Pasadena might be the go-to location now. read more

It takes a refined palette to appreciate the goods at J. Crew. A good place for moderately affordable staples - merino wool cardigans, comfy and flattering chinos, t-shirts, etc. Although I do believe the prices are better online. Keep in mind, clothes don't make the person. If you rely on J. Crew, or other retailers, to define your identity then you will always be a boring yuppy, punk, skater, prep or whatever the kids call each other these days. And, as far as I know, J. Crew carries sizes from 0 to 14. Normally, I'm a size 8 to 10 but I'm a 6 at J. Crew - so I would hardly say they cater only to pin-thin model types. I've experienced far better service here than BR; several times I've returned items I purchased online with absolutely no problem. Yay! for classic fashion. read more

Loved the clothes, hate the service. J Crew, for being a more high-end boutique, actually is very affordable. There's always sale items, and often, there are extra sales going on too. I've gotten a silk dress for $50 and tank tops for $7. That's cheaper than Banana Republic and bordering on H&M pricing. However, the service at this one isn't that great. I had one awesome Asian person helping me with shoes a few months ago. She was overwhelmed with customers but soooo nice. Atypical really of this store. The rest of them never acknowledge you and they aren't friendly during checkout. It's pretty much, "Here's your stuff, peace out." Don't even think of trying to return things here. They practically give you the cold shoulder! I wish I could remember that one really nice person. Argh. I just brave it all for the great deal on clothes. FYI: There's no men's clothes at this location but they do have Crewcuts, the kids' line. read more

The "skinny bastard" typically fits 90% of what they offer, but rarely buys due to their unacceptable prices. Me? I freak out when I actually *do* fit something. Normally, I'll just leave with a canvas bag. The weekend brought an additional 30% off all their sale stuff (what holiday was I missing?). I scored some metallic leather headbands for $3.50, originally $14.95 - plus a madras belt for $7. You'd think I was at an outlet. Oh and the mini bottled Poland Springs at the cashwrap was a nice touch. Haven't seen any other chain do that, and it's so practical. read more

I had to write this review because after several experiences this year I must say the customer service has gone down horribly at this store. Every time I come in here, no one comes by to check in or even just give a simple nod or hello. When it is busy, I completely understand needing to wait for help, but sometimes just saying hello does wonders. There are a couple of folks I recognize that consistently never say hello or try to help even when I lock eyes with them, even when the store is dead slow at 8 pm. I even had one associate squeeze past me tonight to ask another customer if she needed help. I know I look young, but I am a young working professional and can afford to shop here. I am honestly so sick of this and it drives me mad to be in this store. The only person who has helped me in this store once of twice this year is I believe Heidi, a tall blonde young woman. She is really efficient and is probably the only one who has really helped me this year if I was lucky to come in when she was there. I used to shop here all the time, but the near consistent lack of customer service this year has just left me with a bad feeling toward the brand as whole. I don't know what happened, but it seriously is a marked decline in service and is consistent almost every time I drop in to look around. I am very reluctant to recommend or purchase from this store. Dig the clothes. Hit or miss quality (sweaters are so-so, shirts and pants much better quality than a Banana or Calvin). The store feels cramped, especially the men's section. They could lose a table or two per section to help loosen it up. Service is hit or miss as well, sometimes you get a good one. Try to avoid weekend afternoons, as it is pure hell. Their merchandising is way better than it used to be, but they can be a little to pompous with the rolled up sleeves as another poster commented. I'm just glad they've found a point-of-view again after a decade of blah styling. Oh, and if you're student like my wife, don't forget your ID to get 15% off any purchase. read more

I love J Crew and have been shopping here for over 10 years. The clothes are classic and comfortable. I just love the clean and simple look. Their cashmere is to die for. I once score a pair of cashmere gloves for $15. Whoo hoo! This store is alright, I prefer the one in Brea (better selection, but the service sucks there too!) The sales people never seem to be friendly and tend to ignore you. Pompous jerks! I also do not like their "vanity sizing." I normally wear a 2 or a size 4 in other brands but have to buy a size 0 or extra small here. They try to make their shoppers think that they're smaller and skinner then they really are. Sounds good, but so shady. The sales are not as great as they use to be though I did recently get an awesome black crepe dress for $23 that use to retail for $115. I read in the newspaper that they have been trying to change and update their stores to make more of a profit: i.e. less sale, higher prices, and less selection. Boo.....I'd rather spend $400 for Gucci shoes than J Crew shoes. Screw that! read more

I generally don't review retailers unless my experience is notably great or notably not great. I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping and went to this store with a specific item in mind for my daughter. Guess what? This location does not carry children's items. What happened next turned me into a fan. Alex sprung into action to find the coat for me and get it to me by Christmas. She checked on line. She checked other J Crew stores. She checked on the phone. When we learned the coat I came for was completely sold out, she located a very similar coat in the same color and saw to it that it was delivered overnight. Thanks, Alex.
