11/04 I found a wedge immediately tried on and was fascinated by how beautiful they looked and when i checked price they had no price tags so I approached the shoe department associate (I can't remember her name but she was a sweet hispanic lady) she place two red stickers under the wedges the price on the red sticker or label said 69.57 I said omg that's not bad for a brand that i never heard off but i never took them. On 11/06 now after not being able to get the wedges off my mind i went back Sunday and went straight to the shoes dept grabbed the wedges and walked towards the registers... the cashier had beautiful hair and skin but bad attitude and her and the cashier next to her were engaging into personal conversation as both ringing up customers and they both were cursing each other out in a playful way but of course totally unprofessional. My cashier lady says my total is 47.50 I said oh really even better! I remember she scanned the shoe box but because I couldn't find my wedges original box i just placed them in an empty shoe box available... I could have stay quiet but i am an honest citizen and I told her the shoe inside wasn't the one that belongs in the box so she voided amd proceeded to scan the wedges... when she scan it she immediately told me this is not the right price tag. She left for maybe 10-15 min (the store AC is always off so you know its hot AF all the time) once she comes back she says the wedges are $450 do you want them? I said how they went from 69.57 to 450 and she replied "this is a designer wedge what did you expect " i had to look back because I know she wasn't talking to me but unfortunately she was indeed talking to me that way so i said well I expect them to be 69.57 since you shoe association labeled them for me on Friday and she said impossible this looks like a customer switch the tag obviously iMplying i did it but without saying it directly because she knew better but I'm not stupid I know exactly what she meant. So now not only im disappointed about the huge difference in price but i am offended and disrespected by this cashier... so i said im not taking them thank you and I walked towards the middle of the store looking for A manager and I found one...I can't remember her name neither but she was a curvy set black lady I explain the situation(just the shoe situation and i let The cashier awful customer service slide then but i Adding it here cuz i should have said something then) and she walked off and came back to me And said Yeah the shoe is 450... at this point im kimd of getting upset because you guys made a huge mistake and couldn't honor me the price given the fact that it was marked on both shoes Amd by an employee who i saw placing those Labels umder the shoes ... the manager then said i can give you 10% off the 450 i said ma'am the shoe said 69.57 now its 450 because you won't honor it but you also won't give me a good deal. She looked at What i think was her phone and them said scratch the 10% i will give you 50% off since it was our mistake and you really want the shoes so here i am thanking her and feeling better because i did wanted the shoes so bad ... with taxes an everything the wedges were $287 and some cents ... I walked out and as im heading home something told me to check Nordstrom rack app so I grabbed the phone and search for the wedges on the app and when I found then and look at the price I almost faint because it was in that moment when I realized that the manager had lied to me BIG TIME. She was never giving me 50% off for their mistake... the wedge was already discounted for 239 and with tax adds up to 287 which is what I paid. OMG my blood pressure was and i was almost home.. I called the customer care line and explained the situation which was a waste of time because they couldn't do anything about the situation and to end my story the end result is now im stuck with a wedge that i got based on a trifling lie and every time I look at that wedge i will remember this terrible story. read more

I really enjoyed shopping at this location once upon a time. I frequent the flagship store more often but I always drop into this location every once in a while to see what's in stock. I have made returns here twice and my most recent was yesterday and I probably won't go back. They haven't had good stock for a while and the people working at returns/customer service are super rude. I also noticed that the upscale designer brands of sunglasses upstairs is really wack now. A month ago I bought a pair of Fendi shades at an amazing discount but now the best they have is Raybans. Not sure what's going on at this location but it doesn't look as if it's worth visiting any longer. read more

Horrible customer service at return register..So much attitude. As if you are an imposition by even being in their presence. I normally have positive interactions with store clerks as I work in customer service as well. I have shopped and returned here for years. This time the experience pushed me to lose my temper. Cashier was inept, unable to listen to customer without interrupting, defensive...just plain rude. Left feeling upset and angry. One of the few places I can guarantee I'll find something I love. Whether popping in on a lunch break to browse and walking out with a new coat or my fave sparkly Kate Spade boots or grabbing an outfit change for an after work impromptu rendezvous, Nordstrom Rack has been my go to. I've snagged a favorite pair of jeans here, fave designer sweater, fab sunglasses, wallet, gloves--the list can go on and on. The prices are fair, selection great and they make designer brands more accessible. When they have their seasonal red tag sale, it's a steal. A few years back, I raided the racks with my coworkers and we walked out with 7 or so formal dresses for a total of ~$100. My most recent visit was memorable in that I went during the holiday rush without my Nordstrom card*, since I'd taken a long break and had changed wallets since. But I did recall having received a $20 Nordstrom note in the mail several months back that was due to expire March 2018. So here I was, no card AND wanting to use my $20 note that was conveniently home. My sales associate, I believe named Judene was so helpful and patient with the transaction amongst an already busy day. She contacted Nordstrom and they were able to pull up my account and verify that I did have a $20 note and apply it to my purchase--and she did it all with a smile! She even asked how she did. I told her great! She made what could've been a headache, such an easy process. I'm sure the cold wind will blow me back in here before the spring and I'll leave with a new fave item as I usually do. *Nordstrom has a debit card that you can link directly to your bank account, so you won't have to worry about remembering to pay a bill. read more

I always buy the same exact item English laundry men's shirt size large and their product must be counterfeit because it's totally different sizing and does not fit. So I tried to return it and their only option is to return by USPS which is impossible for me. I went online and with their live chat to get their actual returns address and the representative did not speak English, did not understand the issue, and kept telling me to make a USPS label, and couldn't transfer me to a supervisor. read more

I've never had a bad experience at a Nordstrom rack ever until today. I also never care enough to write reviews until today. While stopping in to pick up a quick home item( around 9:10pm on 11/2), I was excited to see nest was amongst the pickings until I noticed I was being profiled. I have over 10 years experience in luxury retail and over 6 years in managing luxury boutiques. I know when someone is being profiled. It doesnt just make someone feel uncomfortable, it's just wrong . Of all the places and all of my experiences, I am shocked to see that I was treated this way at a Nordstrom Rack but never at Bergdorf Goodman's, Saks or Barneys . Maybe I was treated this way because I dressed extremely casual, but that doesn't justify the behavior of the security guard located in the lobby. When I called the guard out on her actions she just smiled and continued to make sure she circled around me as I went through the diffusers and candles to decide which scent was best for me. I will be following up with the store manager as well as the d.m and regional director to bring this to their attention as I'm sure they would want to correct the behavior to avoid a potential lawsuit in the future from someone else if the employees behavior is not corrected. read more

This Nordstrom Rack has been here a while, so it's well known throughout the area. It gets a good bit of traffic. It's better to come to these types of stores when you're not looking for anything specific, but would like to find something unique or special. I also come here to try out the sizing on different brands. Department stores are also good for this, but they tend to have more sales people pestering you if they work on commission. I can come here and not feel bad about leaving with nothing, except for information on my sizing and brand preferences. Great for personal style research. They used to carry the NYDJ brand in petite sizes, but don't seem to have any currently. *Also, suggestion Nordstrom Rack, I'd love if you put in a petite section like some of the other locations have.* I looked at women's shoes. They tend to have a decent selection of women's 4.5's and 5's. Didn't see much of interest this time. I looked at sunglasses, since I'm on a bit of a sunglasses kick, being summer I guess. Found some interesting styles, but nothing as great as the Raen sunglasses I got at the 31 St location. This location doesn't have any kids section. So head to the 31 St location to find kids shoes and apparel. I found amazing Mother jeans that fit like a glove, and a Theory top in burgundy I'm on the fence about. Good American shorts. I'm not a fan of the fabric. It's thin, feels cheap, and doesn't feel durable. read more

I have contacted customer service just for them to call the store and the store won't return my call. And after 6 attempts still nobody will help me or open some kind off investigation to find out ( here's the best part) who's credit card the number she supervisor read of to me. I love Nordstrom Rack and shop at both Nordstrom Rack & Nordstrom regularly (It's not wrong to like nice things now). If you only have time to shop at one Nordstrom Rack while visiting New York (or if you live here), then this particular location (Union Square) is THE location to go to because this location gets a lot more high end designer items than the other locations. This Nordstrom Rack is next door to Best Buy and a few doors down from DSW Shoes. This location is 2 stories, with the second floor only containing sunglasses. Take the escalator downstairs for the rest of the store (by the way, the restrooms are in the corner right next door to the dressing rooms). My husband and I came by this location this afternoon to take advantage of their current winter clearance (25% off additional winter clothing that includes jackets, vests, scarves, gloves, boots, beanies). I was happy to find a great deal on a red scarf (which was perfect because it was snowing and raining today and I accidently left my scarf back at my hotel room. I have no idea how you New Yorkers do it with this cold weather. Being from Southern California, anything below 70*F is cold to me) and a cute vest. Also great deals on so many jackets, but it doesn't get cold enough where I live for me to buy one. In the shoe section, I was pleased to see plenty of high end designer brand names, but not too thrilled with the prices. Lately, all Nordstrom Rack locations have been getting a larger supply of high end brands, but the prices are ridiculous (for example, Valentino Rockstud heels are plentiful at this particular location and some locations that I have seen in Los Angeles County where I am from, but they are priced above $800 which is NOT at Nordstrom Rack prices... total fail Nordstrom Rack... what on earth are you thinking? You are better off getting a better deal from Valentino directly when they have their sale that occurs twice a year... yep I buy when they have sales.... again, there is nothing wrong with wanting and buying nice things). Anyways, the sales associate who helped me was friendly. He was happy for me that I was able to score such a good deal on some of the winter clearance sale. I asked him if he would be able to cut the tag off my scarf so that I can wear it when I leave the store. He happily walked to another register to get a pair of scissors to do it for me and also gave me the tag in case I wanted it). He also did ask me if I wanted any of my other items tags cut (which I declined). Overall, a really nice shopping experience for the most part. I was able to pay for my items at an express check out (didn't have to wait, just walked up to one where there were 2 employees standing by it. Once I approached the counter, one employee immediately helped me). If I lived here, I would definitely be a regular at this location. read more

I bought my son's birthday gift at Nordstroms in CA but as soon as he tried it on, he discovered they left the security plastic on before gift wrapping. No problem, I can always use an excuse to visit Nordstrom! They cheerfully removed the security plastic and with that out of the way and since I was there anyway, I decided to look around. I always forget how formal New York is. In need of two additional dinner dresses, I found their selection of designer pieces puts CA Nordstrom to shame. This place has it all. I mainly come her to shop for Jeans like Mavi, Diesel, and Joe Jeans. The shoe selection is not bad, they carry product that you cannot find at the competitors. They have this one brand in particularly such as 14th and Union. I must say the quality of their shoe is pretty good. The location is in the basement so your signal is spotty and you can always know who is a staff from the team outfit. Overall, there is a good selection to peruse and sift through so if you want a true shopping experience...you need to stop in. read more

I walked into the dressing room and was told to step outside and wait for a fitting room. Than of course I moved back to give space (there was no one in line). A customer came behind me to get in line and the fitting room attendant, pretending I didn't exist for some reason, gave that person the open room. I'm a frequent customer and member, but no one should be made to feel like they don't exist. Won't be patronizing this location until they treat people like humans. read more

This store is literal garbage. I just spent a good 45 min walking around the store like an idiot for items that apparently vanished into thin air. I went to every single counter and no one could tell me a single thing about where my items disappeared off to. I asked to speak to a manager and the lady at fitting rooms claimed she was the manager, which I know she wasn't and clearly insulting my intelligence. I asked if they could go back on the cameras because it wouldn't have taken more than 5 minutes. I had probably asked most of not all the employees; one of whom which was incredibly rude (short with blonde hair and roots growing out). They have obvious communication issues, the other lady in the fitting room just said to reply with a yes or no. I shopped here weekly and spent anywhere from 1k to $1500 at a time. Not ONE SINGLE PERSON was helpful. These employees are lazy and should just be dmv employees. I'm glad to see this reflect Nordstrom customer service. I won't spend another dime here. read more

I love this place! Awesome deals, especially for shoes! There is a wide variety of brands and styles as well as price points. Unfortunately, it's not as cheap as you'd expect it to be. Mediocre, at best. Although I must say, the location is pretty sweet, right in Union Square. The store is pretty spacious, and the organization was not bad. I didn't see clothes and clothes lying all over the place (ahem, Century 21), however.... This was my first time going to the Rack. I was under the impression that Nordstrom Rack held a lot of discount high end designer items left over from its regular stores, but that seem to comprise only like 20% of the store. The rest of the store is a lot of random brands that are of cheap quality, to my dismay. Think about the typical teenage section you see at the mall, and it's like that. Disappointing. Here are some lines that they carry here: Elizabeth and James, Michael by Michael Kors, BCBG, Tahari, See by Chloe, Theory, Dolce and Gabbana/D&G, William Rast... so as you can see, yes, there are a lot of higher-end designers here, but they don't comprise the majority of the store. A lot of designer shoes in the store, but they still weren't that cheap (at least to me) Designer shoes and boots seemed to be no cheaper than $150. Go check out the clearance rack for women in the corner. There are a lot of 40%-75% off deals going on, mostly stuff that's off season. I found See by Chloe white pants (unfortunately too baggy) for only $25! I was hoping that the rest of the store had similar prices for the quality, but I didn't think so. Decent selection of purses and accessories (I saw Michael Kors, D&G, L.A.M.B) however the D&G purses were still going for like $200+. Cheap for what it is, I suppose, but I haven't reached that point yet where I am willing to spend that much on a purse. I did, however, find a Calvin Klein chained leather crossbody bag for $30 less than what it was still going for at department stores -- that was my big win for the day. Absolute worst retail experience I've had in years. I went hear to buy some Xmas presents and while checking me out the customer service associate became very frustrated when my email didn't pop up. I kept my cool, asked her to also check my work phone and whether or not she could check by any means. She became increasingly frustrated, abrasive, and rude when I said i did have a rewards account, I just hadn't recently used it. She then said it would only pop up if i had a credit card, which i said i didn't want. As she sneered at me, I finally had to walk out. Most unpleasant interaction I've had in awhile, and that's saying something since I've lived in New York for two years. I love Nordstrom rack but probably can't justify coming again. It's huge, and at least when I came the other day to get a hat (walking around in the snow without a head covering is raggedy) I was able to find one, after a good bit of walking around. If you're an avid shopper, you'd know that Nordstrom is well known in the retail circle for their excellent customer service. I'm a big online shopper and don't shop at B&M's that often. I wasn't planning on dropping in. I was shopping on Bloomie's dot com that morning and eyeing some Joie silk tops on sale. Went to tea and on the way to the Strand, ended up here. Fast forward a few hours. I enter the Rack and there are some of those current season Joie silk tops hanging on the front racks. It's a sign!! Prices were an easy 65% off, larger than the online sale prices. There weren't too many exciting contemporary fashion labels there that day. Wish there were more. Tons of Neutrogena and high-end haircare products. A few more things: - A big thumbs down to shopping in-store is some items end up in a grotesque, store-handled condition. - Dressing room lines were long so I layered items on by a mirror. (It was a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend.) - Phone service was zero bars on one side of the basement. - There is a 30 day return policy. - The checkout lines were modeled like Whole Foods. My person was super-nice and looked up my Nordstrom card for me. She also called customer service to re-send/reinstate expired Card rewards credit! This was settled within a few minutes. It's like she had a fastpass to customer service. If anyone thinks NYCers are rude, come here. read more

Uniqlo Top Shop H&M and some other stores I checked just did not have the gloves I wanted - stylish, classic, and affordable. Kinda bummed me out, because I wanted something from an unique store. And who would have thunk a Nordstrom discount store would have the gloves I had been looking for? And plenty of them? And many different types? So I came here with a friend who wanted to go shopping. Honestly, being at a regular Nordstrom, I never really found anything when I went. So naturally I thought the same thing coming to this one. The purse and clothing selection is okay. I enjoyed browsing through the coat section a lot. And when I got to the shoes, it was a done deal. A great selection, and you're lured in. you can't help but spend a lot of time in that area trying shoe after shoe on. I settled on a few pair of boots. And at checkout? I like their options. They can do it on the iPhone for you or at the register. I was offered the iPhone check out, so I did it. I was impressed. My wait in line was shortened dramatically. Quick and convenient. I'll frequent every so often, for the shoes though. read more

This location could use a major overhaul but it's hella convenient. Presentation matters and this store is messy as heck. I personally don't care for the basement feel of it. You walk in off the street and head down the escalators and that's where the entire store it. It's dark and just slightly creepy looking. Because of the location and the hoards of people constantly flocking it, there's no true sense that workers have time to clean isles or racks before they're being tugged at again. I truly only use this store for returning something I purchased in Long island or Brooklyn. P.S. the one good thing is workers have these handheld devices they can use to process returns if you paid with a card and don't mind having your receipt emailed to you. If you opt for this it's the difference between standing on line for 45 mins and being in and out in 5 mins. read more

This Nordstrom rack is pretty good! They have awesome products at half off and more for designer brands for men and women. They have casual, work, formal and shoes. The only thing is that I wish they had home products for the surrounding residential area. There can be a long line during peak times but if you are paying with credit card you can ask an associate to check you out. I can only speak for men's clothing selection as I purchase men's clothes. The selection is decent they have formal and casual wear. They have an extensive selection in formal wear and jeans etc. I would be happier if they had a larger selection of workout clothes. The service is great anytime I ask an socials for help and to check out with a card they can 90% of the time help me. At the fitting room a male associate was friendly and said it was a pleasure to help me. As previously mentioned, it can get busy and the men's fitting room is rarely ever busy and the woman's line can get long. Otherwise, a great place to find great deals! read more

Boring. Too crowded. If you can stand being in the middle of 200 shoppers surrounding you, leaving you to your last breath, this is your place. Otherwise, it's a no-no. The only thing I like is their non-clothing sections...beauty, accessories and handbags, which were way less crowded. If you're obsessed with buying lots of makeup (on a regular occasion) like me, you will love the beauty section. Mixed with drugstore and high-end brands, all for a bargain, mostly less than $10 bucks. So, no, I don't recommend this place to those who like to shop in less crowded places like Filene's and Marshall's. Believe me, it is much worse.
