Nordstrom Rack is my favorite off-price retailer for sure. Their quality of merchandise, in my opinion, is far superior to that of TJ Maxx for example. I love their designer denim, which is 40% to 70% off the original price. I was able to pick up a pair of Paige Premium denim jeans, which are originally $179.00 for $79.97. They carry Citizens of Humanity, Seven, Joes and much more. I was also pick up some Nike Workout apparel at 50% off the original prices. However, I would allot a lot of time since there are so many things to look at here. And, you can only take 15 items into the dressing room at once. Also, they had mobile checkout available when I was there. A staff member would ring up your credit card purchase and e-mail you your receipt. I thought that was awesome and convenient since no one likes having to wait in line. I definitely will be back. read more

Some of the gems I found here: 1. Liters of Biolage for only $20! (What a steal!) 2. Tons of marked down Michael Kors and Coach purses. (I saw some for under $100 and they weren't the completely unfortunate ones.) LIke other reviews have stated, you HAVE to be in the mood to comb thru multiple racks and fight thru the crowds. I'm one of those people who asks friends for recommendations on where to shop and then 2-3 years go by before I actually try the place. Nordstrom Rack is one of those places. My wife says I've been to this one before but I think she is quite mistaken because then I'd be going here at least twice a year. I hate spending more than $19 for a pair of jeans, but I can actually get to $80 if they are marked down from double that. I had a groovy experience with the men's jeans section, imagine four large tables with a lot of selection. I ended up finding some Paige jeans that I really really dig. I actually tried on 12 pairs of jeans no kidding. I ran out of time to check out other sections as I had come with my boys who for some reason always act out in department stores. I'll probably go back in the next few weeks because I'd like to check out the shoes and shirts. read more

This was once my favorite location. No longer. The layout is changed as well as a decrease in quality items. It now feels less Nordstrom, far more Rack. Less selection of women's accessories. Less Kate Spade, designer sunglasses, costume jewelry. Less home goods. A vast offering of accessories were once front and center of the store. A wall of designer sunglasses, perfumes, and home goods near the cashiers. A great selection jewelry on the right. Now in the front of the store is a very small selection of bags, a small Forever 21ish corner of perfumes, MAC makeup that no one liked at $30 and still won't like at $18, tossed glasses on the wall. $300 sunglasses laying on the floor. The front and center floor plan kept customers neat. Nope. Stuff tossed everywhere. No doubt the quality of items will decrease at this location when more items are damaged out or it becomes a hot spot for shoplifters. Next there will be camera domes in the ceiling and anti theft retractable belts whipping my head back to the wall before I can reach the closest mirror. Items were either scratched, a horrible item that should have never been in a Nordstrom's in the first place, or were close to regular price Nordstrom offerings. I noticed a rack of Madwell t's priced around $24 (compared to $42) but I have the t and it was $25 at Nordstrom's. This location is always busy. I am disappointed in the change. I really do not see how it will stand out from the Marshall's in the same center. A savvy shopper may dig for a designer find but I will not buy something tossed and scratched just because it is designer. I have Marshall's to hold me over until the next Half Yearly Sale. read more

So, I only came here because of a Groupon that's expiring. Spacious parking but boy was it full. Seems like everybody else waited at the last minute to redeem their Groupons too. Anyway, I wasn't really impressed with the display and the layout of the store. It seems very crowded and everything is not well organized. A lot of the same stuff displayed all over the place. Lots of socks and shoes for sure. Brand name selections etc. It's the end of the year, so there's a lot of clearance sale going on, as well. Overall, I'd rather shop at TJMaxx or Marshall's. Maybe the other Nordstrom Racks are a different story. I bought a pair of boots and some socks which were priced ok. Maybe too if it wasn't the holiday, they would have a better set-up and display. read more

Pretty extensive collection of clothing for everyone at good price point. I particularly like the men's section at this location since they carry a lot of the average sizes, so mediums in my case. I think that I should give two separate reviews for a service that I received here. Both are the shoe department. First one would be excellent since the gentlemen who helped me was so professional and nice that it was a pure pleasure to be a costumer. He brought me second shoe (matching one) and I asked him about another pair if they have it in different size. He give me all his attention and wrote down location for another Nordstrom Rack with details of this particular model of the shoe. After that he said that I can purchase another pair that I found at this counter and that this friend is going to help me. Now this is my second review for the person who was helping me check out. First of all this person was not personable and did not informed me about their printer malfunction and assumed that I would be ok with receipt that would be emailed to me. No I am not ok with it because I already had problem with this type of receipt. Also, just because this particular printer is broken it doesn't mean that other in the store have the same problem. I suggested on trying another one. He kept on saying is not working, not working.... of course until he actually tried it! Magic? He give me my receipt without a word, not to mention smile. read more

(The Rack in Northbrook) Guys be forewarned! Alright, so here is the skinny on this joint. I have to say I am way impressed with the selection as a whole at the "Rack". So you might go asking yourself, then why am I warning the guys? It's simple, even though the selection is gracious on the large scale of things, the men's department is lacking the say the least. If your not finding an abundance of 80's clashing color, long sleeved T's, or the wannabe ever so popular " Ed Hardy", then you must be at the wrong place. So then you ask well then why the 4 star rating? There is one thing and pretty much one thing only I ever go to the "Rack" for, and that is their selection of guy's jeans. I love my Seven jeans! Hell you can't even beat the price. Occasionally, you will find a cool funky T-shirt maybe to stick under your awesome new lets go clubbing "jacket" this place is pretty bare for the guy's section. Gawd, I have a soft spot in my heart for this place. It's not always perfect but when the planets align and the gods of fashion smile down upon you, you can walk out of Nordstrom Rack with killer, designer clothing at a steal (relatively speaking, of course). The rules of the road for this place are: 1. You gotta be in the mood to sift through alot of junk to get to the one nugget of gold. 2. You have you know your stuff. Just because it's being sold at "Nordstrom Rack" doesn't mean it came from Nordstrom. This place is just another discount store (ala TJ Maxx) that gets it's goods from all over. But some of the stuff is bonafide, high-end, red-carpet worthy fashion. 3. TRY IT ON!!! Often things end up at Nordstrom Rack because they are missized. Just eyeballing it will not be enough here. I wear alot of designer duds, most of which I got at 70% off (I love the sound of that). They seem to have a flow of new items coming in all the time. Lots of shoes, watches and ties. The quality if far better the Marshalls next door. I shop here frequently. read more

If you're like me and you have $$$ taste, and sometimes you feel like giving your wallet a break, if you get lucky, you can find really good discounts here on brands like Paige denim, Seven jeans, Rock&Republic, Joe's Jeans, etc etc. I also found a Velvet dress I'd wanted for a while from Norstrom, about 70% off. But most of the time there are really annoying people grabbing at clothes and other things, sizes are hard to find, sort of chaotic, stressful too. read more

After reading the reviews for the Nordstrom Rack in Northbrook, I realized that I am not their typical shopper. I'm not high-end or high fashion. I am just looking for some clothes that look nice on me and aren't going to completely break my budget. And for that, this is the place. I went in, looking for a bag to carry my book (and other things) on the train. I wound up buying three womens shirts for less than $35. It takes an eye to be able to accomplish this, but it is something that is completely possible. Another thing I have difficulty shopping for is shoes, and Nordstrom Rack has a large selection of wide-width shoes for people with mutant feet like mine, at a discount, which is rare for shoes that fit on my feet. read more

This place is so disorganized and chaotic it almost gave me an anxiety attack. I went in looking for just a simple pair of casual pants. Things are apparently organized by "Designer" (why??) but beyond that its a mystery. Sizes? Good luck. Where exactly ARE all the pants? Bottom of some random pile, most likely. Things are either stuffed into racks so tight you can't see what is there, or falling off hangers. Add the pumping techno music they had going on, and makes you want to run away screaming. read more

This is a great Nordstrom Rack. Conveniently located near Loehmann's and Marshall's, you can have a day of discount shopping then head over to the Container Store to buy some hangers for your new finds. Good discounts and in Northbrook, they have some higher designer pieces. read more

I love the Nordstrom Rack and can easily spend hours in one. The deals are great - but you have to know what you can get on sale elsewhere too. Great for the savvy shopper though. You have to be in the mood to dig through the piles, and sometimes the checkout line is insanely long, but overall the deals are worth those inconveniences. My fiance has had better luck at this Rack than others, even though the mens section is a fraction of the size of the woman's section! While I generally shop at the State Street location, I like that the Northbrook location isn't as strict on the number of items you can try on at one time and has a better return policy. I wouldn't have known about the differences in the return policy had a State St. employee not tipped me off. read more

THE ONE LINE at this store has to go. The one line took forever and there were employees just hanging up clothes huddled together gabbing, as they should have 1) opened more lines since the one line is going to the back of the store 2) asked people to ring them up in those little individual stations. Unfortunately, they only ring very few people up in those stations if you know and if you ask, but most people don't know about them and they do NOT volunteer to lessen the line at all by taking people this way. It's sad how the customer service has fallen. Nordstrom could learn a lesson from places like Costco where customer service and moving people through the lines is a priority. Whatever happened to Nordstrom having outstanding customer service? I heard a woman complain to the manager and the manager responded, "What do you want me to do?" Wow, what a response. I love Nordstrom Rack, it is a great store and it has so many options. I have always enjoyed looking around this store and seeing what is there and what is new. I love that they have a way to make it easier for some to check out. Around the store there are workers with a device to check out quickly, that is only if you have a credit or debit card. It is so convenient and they can both print out and e-mail the receipts to you. This is definitely a place to come for great clothing for a fraction of the price. I love it. read more

I love this location but today I was treated so poorly by an employee named Sandy that claimed she was a manager but didn't even know the store hours. My daughter bought a dress for my wife and my wife returned it to buy a different one, I wanted to buy the returned dress for my daughter because she liked it and the woman said that she wouldn't sell it to me for my daughter. When other employees wanted to do it, she kept turning around with a smug look on her face. Some manager that she had to get authorization for a return. LOL. Some people aren't fit to be in a job where they work with people. Stores like this should hire pleasant people who treat customers well. I bought some wireless charging pad on Friday as part of a Father's Day present along with many other things. Sunday night my husband opened it and set it up to charge his phone and it did not work. I went to return it on Tuesday because it's 1 hour and a half away from were we live. The problem was that I didn't have the packaging. My mistake. And well I never save receipts because I know every store has the ability to check using the card. I have so many things to keep track off that receipts aren't one of them. From now on though I'll get receipts emailed though because I now see that they were find any excuse to not accept a return. Anyways, back to my story. I got there and waited in line. I was in line for less than 5 minutes and I saw the employees complete 4 returns. FOUR! That's already doesn't look good which shows to serve they get returns a lot there. Out of the 4.... THREE did not have tags or packaging. One was a book bag that had been falling apart, the other one was a pair of headphones, and the other one was a charger. Their process was fast and smooth with no questioning and no problems at all. They even helped the guy picked out a new book bag!! NONE of these items had packaging and the book bag didn't come with receipt either and he got full price for I back despite it now being on sale. It's my turn at the register. I ended up with the same employee that rang me up on Friday. I told her the situation and told her I actually bought it with her on Friday. She said, "where is the packaging?" In a very rude tone. I told her I had just seen 3 other people return without packaging and she asked me "with who?" And I pointed them out and she even more rudely just said "well then go with them and move." I just wanted to get out of there at that point so I loved to the other register and then the lady was like "what do you need? Don't you see I have a customer?" Which I explained that the other lady just sent me over there and didn't want to help me. This girl was equally rude until this guy was sent to help me. He again asked me about the packaging and the receipt. I told them I know they can look up my receipt using my card which at that point he did and gave me a lecture about how this will never be done for me again. They do not know how to treat their customers and they look at their customers to see how they will treat them and if they will take their returns. They are racist. They saw me as a Latina girl and just made sure to make it very difficult for me to get the item returned. I never post negative reviews anywhere but I am extremely upset with their customer service in this location and will make sure to share my experience with the rest of social media. This location is full of racist and rude employees and also full of items that don't work. After the book bag was returned falling apart by the other customer they went ahead and put it in the batch to take back to the floor but were first going to put a tag on it. That's why they need the packaging back. Because they want to return things to the floor despite being defective and just not working at all! That's probably how I got stuck on Friday with that charging pad that was broken! read more

Hit or miss in terms of what is in the store and how organized it is. Employees are fine - they don't go out of their way to help but if you ask a question they will answer. Sometimes this store is so overwhelming with the amount of ppl and craziness that I have to leave upon entering not wanting to deal with it. Today was quite pleasant. Purses: Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, and Juicy Couture are seen frequently. Shoe selection is usually huge and if you have time to sift through all of it sometimes you can come out with a unique pair at a great price. Watches: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Burberry, Michele, and Michael Kors are often in the cases up front by the door. I picked up a sweet pair of new balance running shoes for $33 off the original $85. Get in, look at specific things you have on your list/agenda, and know when to get out = success. But the most important reason i felt the need to write this review is Sandy, the customer service representative. She's always friendly and ready to assist me with any questions I might have. She knows the merchandise and the store better than anybody else. Her taste is impeccable. She's approachable and friendly.
