Unsafe! last time I visited, two women were fighting with security and it was LIT! I felt very uncomfortable. Reno has changed for the worst. Sadly I've seen this store decline and I assume it may be the result of poor management. During my visit I overheard two instances of employees being coached on the sales floor with a mean demeanor by a female with a euro accent I think her name is Ahhh. Whenever I go to Reno I make a point to visit this Nordstrom Rack! Nordstrom generally has an excellent selection of women's clothes, and the times I've visited here I've had some really good luck finding some beautiful dresses, almost all of them selling for a very deep discount :-) While the selection of shoes they carry isn't as good as their dresses, they tend to have an even higher ratio of clearance to sale priced shoes, so it's all good! read more

Reno has a Nordstrom Rack and it's always good to increase the competition and options for shopping. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of Nordstrom's because it is, frankly, really expensive for my budget. This store is in the Redfield Promenade shopping center which has had huge attrition after Circuit City and Borders shuttered their doors. I'm happy for the surrounding businesses (Cost Plus, Hallmark, etc.) because with the new tenant, traffic and purchases are definitely up in the whole shopping center. Specs: This store beautifully merchandises big-ticket items like designer handbags, watches, and costume jewelry. Don't expect huge discounts. They had Rachel Zoe and House of Harlow jewelry closeuts which caught my eye but it would have to be a must-have for me to purchase. Lingerie and stockings/socks were well-stocked and had nice choices. Clothing was more "meh"- a lot of it looked like Rack direct items, house brands, and middle of the road separates. Lots of small sizes, not so many XL's in misses. Nothing appeared really fashion-forward or unique. The women's plus section was not on any hint of parity with misses section in terms of selection and style. Even though I came a couple of weeks after the opening, there were women guarding the shoe section like packs of pit bulls so I moved on. Children's and men's clothing are smaller sub-sections of the store. In the end I bought some socks for my mom. Check-out was efficient and friendly but as someone who has worked in customer service I can smell the signs of employee overwork and pressure. Not cool, especially when they are charging beaucoup bucks for the merchandise. To conclude, I'd come back on occasion to scout out the jewelry and accessories. Be prepared to spend more money than at competing discount clothing stores, even though it's essentially an outlet for Nordstrom's past season merchandise. There isn't the thrill of the hunt here like at TJ Maxx, since everything is laid out and selected for you, but you will spot the South Renoite out of its natural habitat of gated communities and white flight suburbs. read more

Fairly small Nordstrom Rack. I moved to this area from Seattle, where Nordie's is a time-honored tradition. If you had a big fat wallet, you went to the regular store. If you didn't, you hunted down a Nordstrom Rack and hoped for a bargain. I still have a bracelet I bought at one that was originally $109 marked down to $18. Selections for home goods here was minuscule. I wandered around a bit, but couldn't help but feel that other than the pricing, I could've found similar inventory in a Marshall's. Bare bones stock coupled with terrible customer service overall. There's a wonderful woman who works all over the store but used to seem to work in the shoe department. I'm drawing a blank with her name but every time I see her, I know it right away! I think that it's Nadeen? Five HUGE Stars for her! Her nationality is Indian or Pakistani just in case the name is wrong. Most of the other highly skilled conscientious customer service gurus are long gone. I have a suggestion NR, pay people well according to their skill level with consistent raises and monetary bonuses. I'd pay more for items and I'm sure that most people would do the same because my shopping experience would be better if the staff were happier. I enjoy shopping with happy staff. Also, please stop eliminating services like altering and steaming; there are horribly wrinkled clothes that some how make it to the sales floor without being steamed and can't be steamed prior to purchase!?! This store needs fresher clothing stock on a regular basis especially the "Designer Row" items but all of the clothing really. They have 200 pieces of the exact coats in different sizes and colors and they do it over and over again with different brands. These bulky items occupy valuable floor space that could be used for more unique and desirable items. Designer Row is practically bare. NR used to be my go to for beautiful pieces at reasonable prices, especially pieces from designer row. The past nine months or so, I've been scratching my head wondering when this store will close, not if it will. Recently, I saw a Hugo Boss dress on clearance that I seriously considered buying. The lowest pen markdown price said $167.50 while the red tag price was $500! I took it to the register and asked if they would honor the lowest marked price. Couldn't they call a Nordstrom store to check the lowest price prior to putting on the red tag? Anyway, the cashier called a manager over who was short and rude to me telling me that "anyone could've marked down the dress so we have to honor the red tag price." I pointed out how official all of the mark downs looked; they looked like someone with the same writing had taken at least two of the markdowns. "Exactly," he said glaring at me. Also, I told him that the rule should be to honor the lowest price on the tag and put that price on the red tag. It hadn't dawned on me until that moment that he may have been accusing me! I said that these types of situations are probably what's behind the low customer count that I'd been noticing along with the very poor customer service. He said flippantly, "Yea, probably is," and walked away. It took me a few months to go back there and I saw the same manager walking through the store. He smirked at me! No hello, can I help you just a big obvious smirk. I felt uncomfortable and almost left right then but decided not to because he's the one with the issue, not me. I scored some amazing totally comfortable wedges along with a few other items. A thinner skinned person may have never returned no matter what, without saying a word or writing a long detailed Yelp review like this one, especially after the smirking incident. We love NR, we really need to feel that our love is genuinely being reciprocated not just because threats and deterrents are used on the staff but because you Reward them with money and their satisfaction will flow outward to NR customers who will reciprocate with a willingness to pay more because they know that the employees are valued and are being treated very well. I am not from the area but I went to the Reno Nordstrom Rack when it first opened. I was so happy to see all the wonderful selections: NYDJ etc. It was not picked over like the ones in the Bay Area. Unfortunately this time when I visited the store the selection was limited. Not many good shoes to select from and the clothing didn't have as many of the well known designer or sports brands that I look for at the Rack. read more

I give it a 2 because we were there dress shopping so I didn't get to interact with staff other than the one gal at the dressing room. And we didn't explore the whole store. With that being said I have to agree that this store is WAY over priced for an outlet store. We couldn't find a decent dress for less than $100! I have been a long-time customer of Nordstrom rack, and spent a pretty penny there just in the past year. When purchasing a suitcase as an early birthday gift for my husband back in March (His birthday was just this last week and he did not like the large size of the suitcase) and I was reassured by the cashier that if my husband was not happy with the gifts they would gladly except returns, for store credit, even if it's past the 45 days as long as I had the receipt in hand. It is now October, and I realize this is a long time for a return to be brought back, however since it was a gift, and never used with all tags in tact, I had the receipt and I was verbally told at the time of purchase it wouldn't be an issue, I didn't think it would be a problem. Tonight, after having an unpleasant experience with the first cashier, I was told that the value of the suitcase was now $24 even though it was originally $69, which I understood. I shopped around and when coming to purchase new items tonight, I asked about my situation again. There were three women behind the counter debating on whether or not to call the manager, I even had to chime in and tell them that I thought they should call their manager, because I was sure she would do her best to resolve the situation and I figured a 2/3 value pay cut was a good compromise as I was not being returned the original purchase price, but the late nature of my return warranted for some consequence. When the manager arrived she inspected the suitcase and found white marks on it which were there when I purchased it (at the time of purchase I asked for a discount because of the marks and was told that the price was discounted already due to any damage) and then she proceeded to tell me that they don't except returns after 45 days. I would've been a lot more understanding if they initially told me no, and they don't accept returns after 45 days, but the hesitation between the three female employees that I experienced and then the lack of interest to compromise by the manager was a complete turn off. I would've gladly excepted the $24 refund and called it good.. as I made a $75 purchase that day I figured they would want to keep the customer happy. Very irritated, and debating on whether or not to come back to this location. I'm all for fairness however all the employees need to be on the same terms about the rules, and not have so much wishy-washy conversation in front of the customer. When I walked away to get the suitcase the first time from my car after being assured that I could return it, I heard the employees talking about my situation behind the counter, which is completely inappropriate. For such an amazing store, the customer service I received tonight truly ruined this experience for me. It's a good thing they have such good merchandise! read more

Yay Nordstroms Rack! I will never grumble at you or forsake you, for you are the only Nordstroms within a two hour drive. Seriously, this Rack does not disappoint. Designer shoes on point, great dresses, home goods, and so much more. The only thing that was really lacking was the men's section, which we were told was a bit delayed and would be restocked soon. Within seconds of entering the store I was within reach of amazing Tory Burch flats and Kate Spade pumps. A girl can't ask for much more. Ever since I moved to Reno 8 years ago, I've been bummed that there was no Nordstrom. Sure, we have other Department stores, but Nordstrom is hands down my favorite and the rest just don't compare. So, even though it's not quite the same, I was pretty ecstatic to hear about Nordstrom Rack opening and even more ecstatic that it was really close to where I live. You'd think I'd be first in line, huh? Nope, I waited, and waited, and waited, almost a year went by before I went in. I fail at being a Nordstrom fan.... Nordstrom Rack, like any store of a similar nature, can be hit or miss and you never know what you are going to find. They always seem to have a good selection of blouses and nice tops for work and there's rack after rack of jeans (whose prices are still pretty high). The athletic clothes section is pretty big, but finding sizes is kind of a chore. The bathing suits are all separates and the selection is slim (at least when I was looking mid-April) - if you have the patience you might be able to find something good, but I gave up pretty quickly. The shoe section is pretty substantial. They have Havaianas sandals for a good price (but small selection of sizes in each design). I was looking for a very specific type of shoe, and was really happy to find several that fit my criteria. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program - it works like a debit card, but pulls directly from your bank account and you earn Nordstrom Notes after spending a certain amount of money. The rewards card can be used at Rack stores, regular Nordstrom stores, and on the Hautelook website. I know I'll be back, because even if it's not a full-on Nordstrom store, it's the closest that I'm going to get and I actually have found some great stuff there, you just have to be will to dig around a bit. read more

I wish the store had a little more organization. My inner OCD was going absolutely crazy. Nothing was where it should be and everything was where it shouldn't. I think they need to label sections better. It's like a clothing/accessory/shoe store threw up in there I will say this however. You may find some treasure amongst the chaos. Had I had more money I would have bought the sparkly Jessica Simpson pumps for the hell of it and to add to my vast variety of shoes because they were simply amazing. It took what seemed days to get checked out. They spent at least 5 mins on each person at the check out. VERY clever to put some of the best accessories and goodies by the register. I was so conflicted. I kept picking stuff up and putting it back as I moved. Unfortunately when it got to my turn to check out I had just picked it up again. No chance to put it back. Once the madness does down I would come back to dig for more buried and I do literally mean buried at times treasure. read more

If you have money to spend and time to kill, this is where you should shop. It is a madhouse right now (inside and at the parking lot) so I would let the hype fizzle out. But I love the brand selections. Although it's an outlet, the price range is not within the typical outlet prices this area is used to. They carry a lot more quality apparel brands not often seen in this area so I can imagine the sticker shock of many people. But if you don't mind the occasional $100 splurge on a pair of well made shoes or jeans, then this will be your happy place. Returns and check-outs are easy. Just look for the wandering staff in green shirts and you're off and running. No need to queue up unless you're paying cash. P.S. Did you know that Hautelook (and of course, NordstromRack.com) is the sister company of Nordstrom? That's where I get first dibs on stuff without having to negotiate with parking. I have found that the online shop (both Hautelook and Nordstrom Rack) have better pricing (a $40 difference on a pair of Birkenstocks - they're on trend again!). I've been to the Nordstrom Rack numerous times since it's opening, and I find it fabulous! I'm not a native Nevadan, so until recently (the last few years or so) if you wanted nice, somewhat upscale label items, you had to go over the hill. It may not be a full Nordstrom, but I never seem to walk out empty handed! As a business owner, I try to dress as fashionable and cute as possible, and the Rack makes that happen! Don't even get me started on shoes!!! High end makers at obscenely low prices! AND in a 5 or 5 1/2, which NEVER happens! The store is laid out well; designer makers are labeled on racks; women's, men's, children's, and shoe sections are clearly identifiable, which is a must for us busy people. Love it!!! read more

Wow. I haven't been to a Rack for thirty years. Back then I went to the one in Seattle and was hugely impressed. Great prices on remaindered quality Nordstrom's items. Currently The Rack seems to carry mostly special production, cheaper lines that look cheaper, not the good stuff discounted. Kind of what I learned when I worked at Macy's in S.F years ago, its sale items were not regular items marked down but special purchases of cheaper (in all ways) stuff. I did pick up a few things but don't think they were great bargains. Now, a few months later, the non-brand name moccasins that I bought have the thread that holds the moccasin toe top to the body coming off after limited wearing. I won't be going back. read more

I love Nordstrom Rack. It is a great alternative to shop for those on a budget & do not mind clothing that are a few months out of season(?). I was a buyer for Macy's many years ago, so I understand about Retailers & Discounters. Nowadays, brick and mortar stores have stiff competition with online stores offering free delivery & in many cases, no tax (let's hope this will remain a little longer). Onward to a review of this store. It is a very clean and bright store. Staff are great! Extremely friendly & helpful from those working in the fitting room, putting out inventory and the cashiers. Selection- very limited in petite, women's high end designer shoes & men's size 33/30. Visiting Reno for a few months, I have yet to find anything for me, but finally after 6 trips to this store I found 1 pair of jeans for my husband in 33/30! Not the brand Paige as I have been praying for, but Mavi. It will do for now. Cashier told me about the frequent shopper program- hum... I sent corporate an email about this. I was never informed & I had ordered a lot online. Recently made high dollar purchases in my hometown! Thank you to the cashier at this store. She did sign me up! Shame on the staff at Nordstrom Rack in Reno. I walked in the door this morning and immediately started looking at the Ray Ban sunglasses that were 2 feet from the door. All of a sudden this guy walks in and gathers swiftly around 10 pair of glasses and walks out at about the same pace he walked in. I immediately started screaming and hollering that they had just been ripped off. Not only did the cashiers just stand there, but the manager on duty showed up about 5 min later and was very nonchalant about the theft. He said, that guy has done it before and oh well, nothing they can do. It was a normal occurrence there I guess. No police, no alarm no biggy! I hope Nordstrom corporate gets wind of their lazy employees and makes changes. Perhaps, put a pile of bricks at the door or furniture so it's not so easy? These employees don't care about their company. At least it made my mom and me more aware of snatch and grabs and to watch our surroundings more. read more

Little to no customer service available on the floor, but I suppose that is to be expected since it is an outlet. Only department store in Reno worth visiting . Cashiers are USUALLY polite. I have always love Nordstrom Rack, I'm a bargain shopper and I always find what I need there. I went in today to exchange a belt I bought my boyfriend and he picked out some shoes instead. When we got to the register the girl processed the belt and then rang up the shoes to have the remaining balance be paid. Her manager came up half way through and started asking her why she was doing a return and what was returned, she picked up the belt to show her. She then asked her if we had brought our receipt and she said "yes, I gave it back to them" to which he manager said " Well usually we staple it to the new one and give them both back together but that's okay considering you don't know how to staple". I was appalled. My boyfriend and I left so disgusted by the way the manager treated her employee (I think her name was Annabelle). I'm a STRONG believer in a positive work environment, especially because I too have been a manger so I understand the position of training and managing employees. Comments that are passive and meant to make another person feel stupid (which she is not) make my blood boil. The adult form of bullying. Shame on you, whoever you are! Do not buy anything here. Was buying a pair of boots for my wife and daughter the price tag 129.99 scratched over with black sharpie I assume the price would be better since they have a sign that says save up to 50% off. I take them to the register and the price is 167.77 or something like that, I said why are they more than the price that was scratched off they should be less. The lady at the register agrees with me and gets a manager she tells me that Nordstrom believed they were selling them to cheap at a clearance store so they raised the price and would not honor the price that was scratched off. Nordstrom Rack is a great store to shop at when you're looking for a good deal on higher quality items. They carry several popular brands including Joe's, Free People, True Religion, Paige, Hudson, BCBG, etc. at a reduced price. What a terrible experience!!! We are from Vegas and recently moved to Reno and we were so thrilled to have a Nordstroms. Opening week we where there and after some shopping therapy as we were leaving we are chased out of the store by a associate and in front of people in the store as wrll as the parking lot she tells me she needs to look at my bags for possible unpaid merchandise or merchandise with censor still on it !! The embarrasement was just horrible and a fellow co worker happen to be there and thought we stole merchandise!! I went inside store to speak to female manager that could not be bothered told me that they needed to change thier procedure and they just opened....what terrible customer service not even a simple apology!!! Nice to have the Nordstrom brand in town, and it does make it easy to return things purchased online, BUT the merchandise actually does appear "second tier" or worse. Reminds me of TJ Maxx.
