As I type, I am currently on hold waiting for a manager. Is this a tactic to keep people away from solving actual issues only the manager has authority to solve? I am unsure. The original issue was this: Purchased dress and needed it hemmed. Seamstress was not willing to give me the hem I wanted (front, touching floor and back a a bit longer) so I settled on the same hem all around. I wore heels for the measurements. As I put on the dress for the event I was attending, I noticed it seemed a bit short. Then I put on my shoes (same ones from fitting) and as suspected, the dress floods 3+inches off the ground. The seamstress will not listen to what you want. She will hem it to whatever length SHE sees fit. Now I am stuck with a dress I cannot wear and I am out almost $100 dollars. (Dress+hem) Thanks Annie. I really like this Nordstrom rack because they tend to have a good rotation on woman's clothing and shoes. When I'm in the area I would visit to see what they have. This time around I wanted to stop in to see if I can find any dresses for a wedding I am attending next month. I was a former Nordstrom employee so I appreciate the workers at all Nordstrom establishments because they're all awesome. But unfortunately there was a situation that probably will not have me returning for a long time. I wanted to try on a couple dresses before I made a purchase. I tried a couple on and decided to look one more time before I left the store. I found a dress that caught my eye and wanted to try it on. The dressing room attendant told me to go to any open room available. I picked the handicap room since the door was wide open and what I noticed walking in was a lot of clothes all over the place, honestly what I expected from an outlet store anyway. There is NO lock on the door, so it's safe to assume if a door is closed it's occupied. I am topless and in my underwear about to try on this dress... and a Karen storms in, kept the door wide opened, and demanded me to leave the dressing room. I am basically not clothed and in shock. I had to beg her to close the door and she wouldn't close it because I was in her dressing room and her belongings were in there. I had to tell her to close the door so I can put my clothes in and then she can have her room back. This Karen made it so uncomfortable for me, claiming her items are all over the room so I shouldn't have taken it, that I was stealing her stuff, and badgering the attendants that this is room and she wants to reserve it.. like this is an outlet store... If you want the full service just go to Nordstrom in SF or SJ. Since the dressing room was a mess, honestly it could look like someone just tried on a bunch of items and left. The last straw was Karen telling me she was protecting me with her chakra so other people don't bombard... LIKE LADY THAT'S JUST YOU. As a WOC, I felt humiliated and degraded from this situation. I left the room and went into another and I was so upset that I could barely try on the dress I wanted to try on. I did talk to a manager and they said unfortunately they can't do much. I get it, it is tricky with store policy but this was the most disappointing retail experience I ever had so far... and i always have low expectations for retail lately since the pandemic started. In an attempt to return ill-fitting shoes I purchased in January I ventured to my local store. I've procrastinated returning the two pairs and was past the 60 day deadline by a little more than a week. After reading my packing slip I knew it wasn't guaranteed but the order could possibly be returned as an exception. Nope. The associate tried and was prevented from entering the transaction (she even flipped the screen around so I could see). I offered to take store credit but was turned down. I ended up checking out the shoe section before I left and found the same pair I wanted to return/exchange in the shelves! Nordstrom has always treated me well in the past but it seems their focus on excellent customer service is longer a priority. They've indefinitely lost my business. read more

I'm not sure why I keep coming here. It's probably because my wife get her bargains here. The store has a smaller section catered to men, but the turn of the goods does not seem to move frequently. Ive been here several months later and some of the same stuff is still there, for good reason I suppose. Don't get me wrong, occasionally they have superb finds on some men's item's that are priced quite nicely, but IMHO it's not worth the hunt to keep coming in to find it, especially if you are not a "shopper". I would rather pay more to get exactly what I want, quicker , and with better service at the mother store. In addition, be advised that not all of their product was ever at the mother store. They have products specificially produced for the RACK which has never hit the original store. One of the keys is to look at the labels, and see if it was a markdown label from the original store, or a specific Nordstrom Rack label. In addition, there might also be quality differences in specific Nordstrom Rack labeled products. Of course, they are not the only outlet or discount outlet that does this, as they all do this as a best practice. read more

(in the voice of gomer pyle). one fitted. suits' marked down prices ranged from $799(freeman something) to $219. luckily, the former didn't quite fit and the latter was almost perfect. as usual, i got into the wrong line when trying to pay. seems they only have a single line that feeds into the various cashiers. my bad! I go here for one reason only. I love to say to the cashier, "Nice rack." and then mutter "...um yeah. Really nice." I don't understand why Nordstrom couldn't hire a couple of more employees to straighten the place up. But this positive is store-wide... SO, clean up your store and attitude. Today was the most disgusting experience I've had. (I've added photos) the bathroom had blood on the floor, the box where us ladies use for aunt flow related garbage was overflowing. Clearly this restroom isn't looked after often. Such a nice destination shopping place! Ok, it's not huge, but honestly full of stuff, really lots of selection, especially if you have enough time to look through everything. I've been shopping at this store for more than 20 years and it is currently in the worst condition I can recall. Finding an associate is purely impossible and the aisles in the shoe section are riddled with abandoned goods. It's difficult to navigate carts throughout and even though the store is pretty empty customers are forced to shimmy pass one another to get around all of the "barricades" and "detours". We won't bother talking about the disaster zone aka the restroom. The management really needs to pay more attention to this location, it is really going downhill fast. read more

I used to live in San Leandro and believe me when I tell you that the best thing about it was its proximity to Oakland and its central location between the San Mateo and Bay Bridges--bridges that took me to places far away from San Leandro. There were few places that kept me in the ole' hood: La Pinata, the Ann Taylor Outlet, and the Nordstrom Rack. The 4 stars are a reflection of my many finds--Kate Spade purses and shades, 7 jeans, Kenneth Cole watches, a Burberry clutch, Cole Haan purse, Franco Sarto boots. Shoes!!! Shoes and more shoes and more shoes!!! Not unlike a shark's insatiable appetite for food so is my craving for shoes. Wearing a size 11 W often limits my choices to either Nordstrom or Payless. The ideal compromise is Nordstrom Rack when occasionally I can find Nordstrom quality at a near Payless price. I saddled up in the Joanna-mobile and drove to the nearest Nordstrom Rack in San Leandro. The San Leandro outlet mall also has Bath & Body Works, Old Navy, La Salsa and Quizno's. Ironically, there was a Shoe Pavilion right next door to Nordstrom Rack. Although free parking was at a premium that (and probably every) Saturday. Parking drama did not deter me from my mission of finding footwear. Never before had I seen so many shoes in my size. Heck with that, never before had I seen so many shoes that were way too big for me! No other rack, or full size Nordstrom store had the amount or variety! Unfortunately, I suspect I may have figured out why. I suspect a substantial percentage were returns. I love Nordstrom. I love their return policy but I think this is where a lot of them wound up. As such, one must search thoroughly to find the Jewel in the Nile. This is true at pretty much any rack. Why do they earn four stars? The staff is remarkably polite. That is not true of most rack stores. I was addressed as "ma'am", I was assisted with finding shoes (not just at the little counter), clothes and furniture. Check it out. read more

Nordstrom Rack is my sister's joint. Whenever I set foot through the doors, I become indecisive in deciding which way to go first because there's nothing but round racks as far as the eye can see. There's no logical path to navigate through the forest of items. I do like that they have Harajuku Lovers cosmetic bags. And I usually seem to find boots I like there. But realistically-speaking, the prices aren't that drastically marked down. I've seen better deals elsewhere. However, NR does have more designer stuff...if that matters to you at all. read more

This review is mainly for the Manager of this location today being completely rude and inconsiderate. The lines here grew ridiculously long and they're short staffed. Took a long while to move 6 customers ahead of me. And the line behind me wrapped around the back end of the store. But what triggered this experience was the mistake Nordstrom Rack had made and the Manager who was behind the counter who assisted the cashier who was ringing me up. There was a clearance deal for boots that was going on giving an additional 40% off. I found a pair of brown Cole Hahn mid tops that happened to be on clearance listed red tag for $59.xx. And just to confirm the eligibility of the 40% off, I went on the Nordstrom rack website and found the same pair in black on clearance which showed it was eligible for the 40% off deal. The exact same brown pair online was not on clearance so therefore it 40% wasn't offered online. HOWEVER, I'm in store and I have in my hand a brown pair of "boots" that according to their own website is considered a "boot" and eligible for the 40% off. And to make sure this was not a one pair deal, there was another pair of the same shoe on clearance on the rack also so the possibility of a sticker error or swapped sticker should not be the case. The nice cashier rang up the shoe, it showed up as normal price and not on clearance even though she rang up the red tag with the ONLY barcode on the shoe. Without question, she immediately adjusted the price to match the red tag, thank you, but the next question was if the 40% off would apply. The cashier wasn't sure so she asked the manager next to her who was helping another customer. And without looking at the barcode or anything she responded "no, it's not a boot" and continued to ring up her customer. I then showed my cashier the Nordstrom rack website to state that indeed it was a boot as according to the sale. Cashier brought my phone with the website to show her, and her response was, "I already told you, no" without any further explanation than "it would ring up if it was eligible." BUT here's the thing, it rang up wrong in the first (regular price, ringing up the red clearance sticker) place so maybe it's make sense on why it didn't ring up to trigger the sale? But without even trying to figure out the situation, she just continued to brush it off. The cashier knowing the confusion in pricing, asked if I still want the shoe. I responded, not at the regular price, so unsure what she should do next, she looked over to the manager and the manager responded "he said he don't want it" Wow, I'm shocked at the rude customer service I'm receiving at this place. The cashier was patient and understanding but the manager is absolutely not. With facts and evidence shown to her face, she continued to brush it off with an attitude. Never did I believe my race played a role but given the increase of discrimination against Asian Americans lately I can only wonder if my race was a reason behind the rudeness of this African American Manager. read more

I love the fact that I always find some great deals everytime I come to this store. Sometimes I spend more than what I budget myself to spend. They have great selections. I love it when season is changing and they are trying to get rid of the old stuff. Must bring snacks for your own sakes! Water is a must! or you might just pass out! hahaha There's so much to look at. My only problem with this store is ............sometimes it gets too busy that I see clothes all over the floor and shoes off the racks, which makes it harder to find what I'm looking for. This Nordstrom rack is pretty nice with a great selection in SHOES. The only reason I'm giving his Rack a 3 is because it is TORN APART during the day. If you get here early enough, things are usually in its place and there aren't small piles of clothes everywhere...towards the end of the day, I'm pretty sure the Sales Associates are like..eff it, and just give up on go-back and straightening. I've been pretty successful in finding great deals on shoes here (when I can find the other one..) since smaller sizes are a bit harder to find. The clothing has some great deals, but the smaller sizes get snatched up FAST. Love how you can get Trina Turk and Tahari brands here!! Great for work clothes and NAME BRAND JEANS. :) My boyfriend ALWAYS comes out with better deals than I do. $60 Rock and Republic jeans..and $30 Burberry polos. WTH. Messy store, and the miscommunication between the employees at the register are evident. I'm an employee at another rack, and I was doing a return the standard way - items unworn, with a receipt and the price tags attached. I have a nordies debit, but the money takes way too long to get back to my account when it goes back to that card. Word of advice - always get your refunds bs k to your bank debit. The money goes back into your account instantly. Anyway, the cashier I dealt with did not know what to do, then asked the others around her what to do. She was cool, but she made the return process hard on herself - I'm an employee myself and told her what to do. Anyway, not returning. Gotta be honest - LOVE me some Rack city. Even though I live in SF, this location has been my go to for years, for a few main reasons: MAJOR discounts (up to 60% on designer brands) Easy access (big parking lot) Lots of fitting rooms Right next to the NIKE Factory Store (always a must) Only downside is the line, which is always brutal, especially on weekends. But the line moves fast because they've got the checkout process down to a tee, so don't sweat it. Location: OK, San Leandro is far. But do you want the sales prices or not? OK then, so sack up, hop in the car, and make the trek. It's worth it. Plus you can hit In-N-Out on the way back to the city. What's not to love? This an extremely unprofessional and unpleasant store to shop in. I came to return an item I purchased from Nordstrom.com. One of the items was shipped without a return sticker so the lady said she couldn't return my item. I got the impression she thought I had taken them. I provided my email and phone number in which she was able to locate my order via my email. After she located my order she stated she couldn't accept my return because it had been over 30 days. Her face was extremely disgruntled the whole entire time. She had her nose turned up. She was rude from the moment she saw me approach the register. As I and my children were walking away from the register to exit the store I heard the lady who had assisted me which was a black lady with a ponytail on the top of her head start talking about to her co worker. They all began to engage in the conversation laughing and talking about me. All of the registers were filled with customers so the customers heard her as well. First off why talk about me? I don't know you, you don't me. You didn't return the items that's fine move on. We don't know each other personally. Very unprofessional. Will not return to this store. Came in for some toddler shoes and I left with that and some toys. And wow they had a lot of options for clothes & shoes which I will definitely go back and look at when I am prepared to shop around without kids! :) this review is about the length of time in line. So the line built up..as I was getting to the front this cashier and manager (yes there were 2) just stood there at one of the registers and just talked to a customer about their personal life and what school/extra activities their kids are attending....I'm almost positive she was a manager if she was able to just stand next to a cashier and chat with a customer friend. I should've asked the sweet girl who rang me up about her cause she was clearly doing her job and getting the line to move. Encountered an extremely RUDE sales associate last Saturday at 2pm in the women's section. I was simply walking up to a clothing rack, and the sales associate was apparently disgruntled that I walked in front of her. She scoffed and said something very rude. She was African American, had brown shoulder length hair, bangs, and glasses. Makes me never want to come back to this store again if management lets their employees get away with making rude remarks to customers. Fortunately the cashier I told my concerns to was understanding and said she'd let someone know.
