I'm not a Nordie's Rack enthusiast. In fact, for many years, I worked near the Rack on 21st St. NW and frequently stopped by. Despite my expectations before each visits, and despite scouring the 75% of the racks, I bet I bought fewer than 10 items in all that time. Partly, I have been very spoiled with stores like the Rack, but much better. I'm from Boston and spent many hours at the inimitable but defunct Filene's Basement. As well as at TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Loehmann's. I very seldom see anything at the Rack. I find their clothes, etc. to be overpriced. And the stores are so disorganized and messy. I would love to be able to say I love Nordie's, but I am always disappointed. read more

Let me start by saying; "customers had stuff all over the floor"... they don't return them how they found them. And the isles are very tight, so much so, I was cluster-phobic. Also their security staff did a great job, didn't make me uncomfortable unlike the security staff at 'Saks on 5th Ave.'. Was visiting DC earlier this month and stopped here to go shopping. The staff was amazing off jump because me and my boyfriend were having a conversation about this one particular vest. The lady working overheard me and said, " let me hear what you trying to do. Let me see if I can see if I can see the vision" She jumped in and was on my side and said that I had a good idea and gave some good fashion tips. But that's not the reason why I'm leaving this review. While trying on my things in the dressing room. I dropped my wallet. And being that I was visiting when I got back to my hotel room. I noticed that my wallet was gone. So when I retrace my steps, whoever found my wallet in the turn it in to the cash register. I couldn't have been more grateful this store. It was at least two floors and had a wide selection. so if you're in the, Washington DC area. I suggest stopping by this Nordstrom rack!! read more

Accessible location and jam-packed with steals and deals if you ask me! I bought two pairs of wonderful shoes for at least 30% off their regular sticker price. Also checked out men's clothes and women's jewelry and bags -- equally impressed. Service at the cashier was fast and friendly. Nordstrom Rack is on 2 floors with an escalator. They have a variety with everything from fancy dresses to t shirts. There is a wide variety of shoes marked by sizes. They have men's and women's clothes plus home goods and more. It's worth a look. read more

This store has great deals on high end clothes and housewares. Men on ground level, women and shoes on upper level. Professional and formal clothes, workout wear, intimates, swimwear, and every other kind of women's clothing. Not sure how comprehensive mens dept is because I don't have men to shop for, but it seems to have a good selection. Also good size luggage dept and home furnishings. Both mens and womens shoes are on 2nd floor which may not be obvious to men shopping on 1st floor. They should make that more clear--many stores have mens clothing and shoes on same level separate from womens clothing and shoes. Otherwise convenient location near govt offices, tourist attractions, metro. read more

Anama is the best. I came in looking for a blazer and shirt for a wedding last minute. She saw me browsing and in a very friendly manner asked if she could help. She went out of her way to offer her advice and search the racks for shirts and blazers. Very human experience. The tailoring she did was great and I got lots of compliments at the wedding! Not my favorite Nordstrom rack, it's quite packed and messy. However in a pinch I'm sure I could find things I need.

As a lifelong Rack shopper, I think I've built an expectation of what a store should be. And sadly this store does not even begin to meet what a Rack experience should be. The shoe section was so disorganized, and I mean DIS. OR. GA. NIZED. There was barely any inventory on the racks because they were spread fast and wide all over the floor. My anxiety was so bad that I zipped out of there in a NY York minute.....but obviously not before buying a cute pair of booties. Unfortunately then came the bad unfriendly attitude of the attendant checking me out *sigh* I'm hoping this was a one- off because the Rack will forever by my favorite store. I kinda expected this Nordstrom Rack to be nicer than it was... it's OK, but it just wasn't that great. We browsed around for winter goods and to shop sales. While inside, I had to use the restroom, they only have single restrooms upstairs and have two so someone camped in both of them for 15 minutes and a line of like 20 people formed.... Some good deals to be found - but nothing special. read more

Came here because I saw someone say this was a good Rack location. Two levels, men's on bottom, women's on top Overall selection was ok, not much different from other Rack locations Given that it is in DC and parking is never good, I would rather visit locations in MD or VA for this level of selection (and not have to look and pay for parking just to end up not purchasing anything) I personally prefer the location on L St for better brands and selection. read more

I didn't even know this was here! Stumbling upon the store was like finding a buried treasure. I just wish I had more time to browse. One of the things that I love about Nordstrom Rack is they have extensive collection of shoes beyond size 10. It's almost impossible for me to find cute shoes in regular stores, but I'm never disappointed when I come here. My visit to the store was no exception. I need new pumps for work and was able to find plenty of options to choose from. I also stumbled upon an absolutely gorgeous pair of boots from Rihanna's new 'Fenty' line I just had to bring home with me. I didn't realize how fortuitous my find was until the cashier told me that I was paying $99 for a $600 pair of boots. Totally blew my mind. My best friend was with me and he also needed a pair of new shoes. There was a wide and diverse selection of quality shoes for him to choose from: Everything from Johnston & Murphy to Adidas. He easily found a brand new pair of shoes that he absolutely loved, and for a really great price. Recently bought a pair of cranberry colored velvet pumps from another store, and I was shocked to find that this store had a pair of velvet gloves that match them perfectly. And for 10 bucks. Ten bucks?! Whaaaaat?! It really is a good thing that we were short on time because I could have spent hours (and potentially thousands of dollars) in that store. Finally there's a Nordstrom Rack downtown DC. I needed a new pair of work shoes and work button down short sleeve shirts so I walked a few blocks on my lunch break and was back at my computer within the hour. This Nordstrom Rack is two floors and has a large clothing section for men and women. They had hundreds of men's shirts all at a discounted price. I bought two nice shirts for $20 each. The shoes section is a bit smaller than other Nordstrom Rack stores, but I was able to find work shoes for $60. If you work downtown and need clothes, I recommend Nordstrom Rack! read more

Well organized and easily accessible Nordstrom Rack in DC. The store is always clean and on brand with most Nordstrom Rack's that I've visited. There are two entrances into the store (one on each level). All of the staff there have been extremely helpful every time I visited. I appreciate that they have an assortment of women's size 10 shoe. The staff is always pretty fantastic, lines are never too long and they do a good job of keeping everything pretty stocked. read more

I was leaving the city, heading to the Friendship Heights location & remembered this location just opened. Same bi-level layout with the Women's section & accessories upstairs. My quick run in ended up taking an hour as the newness took over. I found a heavily marked down MK Winter/Rain Jacket for my WomanBaby & the Sale Associate Kenya offered to ship it to her at school in Boston for $7. It shipped out the next day. The merchandise is easy to access, departments were tidy & employees were friendly. Get off at Metro Center - Red Line, exiting 12th & G Street & in a few steps you'll see the entrance. To note. I was in line for the bathroom (for 15 minutes) and I knocked on the door x 1 and both ppl did not come out. Finally one person (who worked there) comes out and lets me and my friend go in. We come out after 6 minutes of using the bathroom and the other bathroom is STILL OCCUPIED so I knock aggressively to let the kid in. From clothes, makeup, bags, home accessories, shoes and more, this location honestly has the best selection of any Nordstrom Rack I have ever visited. The dressing rooms and bathrooms are always clean too which is always a plus. The staff is friendly, the location is convenient and the selections are much more impressive than their next door competition - Off the Avenue. Overall, I highly recommend this gem of a Rack. I ordered men's briefs on nordstromrack.com, this Nordstrom Rack store sent me a pair of Ladies sneakers. I know it was this store that made the mistake because the return address on the package is the one for this store. I tried to resolve the issue using their website's online chat. The online chat rep said I'd have to return the sneakers in person to the post office or in store, which is COVID risky for me. She said she couidn't get the post office to pick up the sneakers that I never ordered, and couldn't send the men's briefs that I did order. I had to reorder the briefs, meaning that now I am out the money TWICE until I get the nerve to take those sneakers in. The sneakers I never ordered. I know Nordstrom Rack isn't Nordstrom and so my expectations are lower, but this level of service is unacceptable from any online merchant. read more

I went in looking for a graduation dress. They have a nice selection of dresses to choose from. However, the double digit sizes were a hit or miss. I found a dress on sale but, I wish it was a Clear the Rack sale for a really great deal. The store was organized. Checkout was swift and I appreciate the care that was taken to my items. I got a cute lil Marc Jacobs backpack and a pair of pinstriped pants that I actually hate. But it's an excuse to go back, right? ;) The staff here could be a little more pleasant/helpful. I found someone's iPhone in the bathroom and turned it in to the checkout associate. She didn't really seem to care - I was expecting that maybe she'd make an announcement or something, but nope. Evelyn and Brandon helped me find inventory at other stores and even called over to a local store to check inventory before I drove over. The selection isn't that expansive but the place is easy to understand. Men's clothing on the first floor, women's on the second. What stood out were the staff members hanging out by the packed registers asking who was paying with credit or debit to check you out from the handheld machines they were carrying around. Opening Day! I was here. Not early enough for the raffles and prizes BUT I did get some really nice things. I ran into the manager from Nordstrom-Pentagon City - I love her! This is going to be my new favorite store to go to at lunch. There were so many things that I didn't get to see - I was "sneaking in" while taking a much needed coffee break. I had a tricky problem that Nordstrom higher ups in the food chain refused to deal with for weeks. When I visited Ashleigh in person, she solved the problem in minutes, with complete understanding and a few phone calls to the right people. I think this is the best Rack in D.C. It improved a lot upon the old Metro Center location with a better layout, more expansive store, and higher-end designers. The store is bright and organized and honestly just LOOKS a lot better than the others. The men's shoe selection upstairs is actually really good--even better than in Pentagon City. On top of all that, there are staff popping through the checkout line to ask if anyone is paying with credit/debit so they can bring you through the express checkout. The checkout staff are quite nice, too. Definitely my favorite new location! read more

Great location, great prices, huge selection and my most likely newest guilty pleasure! I believe the store just opened on 10/27, so that would explain the crowd. Hoping that will die down soon, because all of the people made it difficult to navigate through the store. The upper level is the women's department, shoes and handbags. The lower level is men's depot and home goods. This location used to be a Barnes and Noble, but they renovated it so well that I didn't remember it was once a bookstore until I was headed out the door. I found a cute jacket at an awesome price! At long last, Nordstrom Rack opened in the former location of Barnes and Noble (RIP, B&N. You were a great place to read and find peace in the city.) I was very excited for this Rack and have occasionally monitored the progress by peeking in the windows over the last few weeks. The weekend before, there was last minute construction going on so there were covers "shielding" items from construction dust. When I walked in on Friday (Day 2), there were lots of employees, all pretty friendly and helpful and busy doing something, whether straightening items out, moving items from one place to another, engaging with customers, or checking them out. Ultimately, I was disappointed by this location and its selection. Not enough designer names, very tight quarters, and narrow passageways for the shoes. I tried to attempt going down an aisle for shoes, but turned around. There was no easy way for two people to get past each other. That said, Kiera went out of her way to take me out of the checkout line where I had been waiting to help me check out at an Express Checkout location. She was very friendly and helpful. I also liked that there were two main areas for checking out (upstairs and downstairs). It's hard to believe this was a bookstore before, so I have to say they did a good job transforming the space and adding dressing rooms and taking out the cafe, but I wish there was more. Saks next door is much better laid out. read more
