I came in today to get 5 pairs of pants tailored which I bought from Trunk club. The sales advisor working in the men's suit section brought me to the dressing room and told me to wait for the tailor to come. I tried on my pants and the tailor asked me if I bought it at Nordstrom. I told him I bought it from Trunk club( which is owned by Nordstrom). He told me that since I didn't buy it at Nordstrom he would have to charge me double at $56/pair! I thought he was crazy. I asked him why are you charging me double when I bought it from the same company and the same product. Nordstrom even allows you to get points on your Nordstrom card at Trunk Club. I would think you would get the same benefits and tailoring rates but clearly not. The tailor said it's my managers call not mine nothing I can do about that. The look on his face just had " I don't really care" all over it. The other sales advisor said he had no idea about this policy. Neither of these guys seemed like they wanted to help me out. I even tried to negotiate since I brought in 5 pairs of pants. I was pissed and took my business to another tailor in the mall. I had a personal styling session at Nordstrom's (at Woodfield) last night and it was AMAZING! I HIGHLY recommend Kirsten! She really listened to what I was looking for. I had only met Kirsten once and she really listened to what I needed. She also has a great eye for what looks good on different body types. Kirsten already had outfits already put together with jewelry, accessories, and even a cute bag when I came in! She had done all of the legwork so all I really had to do was try things on. May I highly recommend making a Personal Stylist appointment with Janice Avino? The appointment is free, the stylist is wonderful, and of course Nordstrom had a great selection of clothing. Here's what I emailed to her: My lovely experience began with your first email. Once you had a basic idea of what I was looking for, you took it and turned it into a real pampering experience. Janice, I arrived for our appointment (stressed and exhausted) to find the large changing room Beautifully set up with coordinating outfits and options. (happy sigh!) It was so much fun not having to go choose items myself (I often feel woefully inadequate and/or stuck in a rut). You made some great selections! You were there for me anytime a different size or style was needed. I liked your vision, your combining of pieces, your friendly but professional manner, and it was such a welcome break from 'life'. read more

The return policy is the best..I wish I could give them six stars One time I needed a suit for an unexpected business meeting. The sales person helped me put together a complete ensemble. I was in this store today with my three grandaughters. I told them it was my treat for the day that they could all get a few new outfits. We were in the women's floor and not one person came over to help us out. I am an older man with no sense of fashion, however I am the one with credit card. The girls didn't get any help and ended up walking out into the mall. Its disappointing because I was told that someone would really give them a shopping experience that they would remember.....and I know that they will not be back. read more

Sales people asked if I needed help, which I like. However, when asking for a minimizer bra, the clerk turned to the rack close to her and handed me one which was not a minimizer. Only when I declined to look at it did she tell me the lines they carried for this item. Then, while checking out, one clerk was talking to the who was clerk ringing my sales about trimming her hair! They were chatting and having a good old time! When paying Nordstrom's prices, I expect at the very least to be treated in a professional manner. Why should I shop there? read more

I needed to get about 10 things from the MAC makeup counter tonight. When I arrived,There was one makeup artist assisting a customer.So i waited 20 minutes to tell her what I needed..She said I will be right with you and I preceded to wait another 15 min fro her to tell me again she would be right with me.Another lady (perhaps back from break) came to me and helped me with color application.I was sold and wanted to buy 4 brushes along with six other makeup products that I tried and liked.At that moment,another customer yelled over and said she needed help. So the lady, makeup artist, I waited for almost 1/2 hour for, left to help another customer and was gone for twenty minutes. SO i wasted one hour at the MAC cosmetic section tonight for nothing. So I walked out. The Nordstrom employees were so rude and no quality customer service !!!! I would never go back, let alone spend my money there. read more

Carol in the sunglasses department is an absolute angel. I had multiple problems with my ray bans and oak brook Nordstrom's sent me away with a ruined pair and told me they couldn't help me. I love Nordstroms. I hate the Old Orchard Nordstroms. Other reviewers were being nice with the Middle-aged woman comments. However, the 55+ European biotches need to go. Aka watch counter associate who is at the Michele counter. Nordstom always offers great merchandise, Barbara and I enjoy the café. Our favorites are the Asian chicken salad and the tuscon checken. This small café offers some quiet space after touring woodfield mall. My only complaint is that the mens room on the first floor was not well maintained and had a foul odor. read more

Since I was on the road 52 weeks of the year and criss crossing three countries every month, I didn't have time to go shopping. I was looking for a business suit and the personal shopping service was a godsend. When I walked into the dressing room, all the suits fitted my criteria were pulled as well as the stockings and shoes. I was in and out with a suit within an hour. Since then I've bought five additional suits. This is a complementary service and I wasn't pressured to buy anything. For those who haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. read more

Seriously flawed customer service. Was at the jewelry counter yesterday and the clerk followed me around. I told her that I was looking for some options for my daughters wedding but was just window shopping at the time. Next thing I know, the manager comes over. I again say that I was just window shopping. The jewelry manager proceeded to "lecture" me that I could not return anything if it had been worn. Seriously??? Not only did I not buy anything, I will never shop at this nordstroms jewelry department again. read more

Quality and service are the gold standard. Unfortunately, their inventory is lacking both, online and in store. I am often forced to pay a higher price at Bloomingdales because Nordstrom is unable to carry the exact same product in different sizes. It's bizarre! They carry limited inventory of Burberry shoes in even sizes but no halves - Bloomy's had both whole and half sizes but charged more. read more

Is it a Nordstrom policy to stalk all the customers and bombard them with questions? I realize they are trying to do their job, but this is the second time where employees follow you and watch your every move. I'm telling you... hungry wolves.. One of the young ladies near the makeup section asked me if I needed help. I did not, but if I was in need of assistance, I would definitely find an employee to help me. I told her very kindly I was browsing. I was browsing their perfumes. About 30 seconds later, yes, 30 seconds later, that same employees asked me, "Did anything catch your eye?" I smiled at her and told her not at this time. Then she tried to lure me to go to the makeup section and apply make up on my face, giving me a natural look. I realize I'm in desperate need of a make over, but I came to the mall to unwind and window shop. I smiled and thanked her. I didn't want to be rude. I walked out of Nordstrom as fast as I could! They were having an anniversary sale, but unfortunately it was the cardholders that benefited from it. They do deserve 5 stars. The employees were a bit pushy, by they are not rude. read more

First off, I have to say that Nordstrom is one of my favorite stores and I'm here ALL the time. I've never had a bad experience with any of the staff. The other day, however, I had a truly OUTSTANDING experience. I was visiting the Jo Malone section to buy a candle for a friends birthday. Zydra helped us out and she was wonderful!! I was able to name my friends favorite fragrance and Zydra knew exactly what the fragrance was, along with what the fragrance smelled like, and then was able to pick out 3 different candles that would fit my friend's taste just based on that. I ended up buying their Blackberry and Bay candle, which smells delicious. Zydra also explained how you can layer Jo Malone's fragrances and gave me samples, which I'm currently loving. She was extremely knowledgable and made the experience great! I will definitely be returning to the Jo Malone counter. read more

I was in the store yesterday to purchase some suits for work. There was an older gentleman behind a cash register not helping anybody. He seemed to be disinterested in helping me. After about 10 minutes searching for my size he asked me what I was looking for. I told him and then he asked me my size. I told him and he pointed to were my size was. He never measured me or suggested what brands I should be looking for. He never moved from behind the register. With that said I left that area of the store. I then was looking for some shirts and with the different terminology of fits I was confused. I was looking for a salesman for some help. I finally found someone and he sort of answered my questions. I found a shirt I really liked but could not find my size. The salesman looked on the computer and said he could order it for me. I also wanted to get one for my son and sent him a picture to see if he would like it. I told the salesman give me a minute for my sons answer. I turned around and the salesman and the shirt were gone. I found the salesman and asked him were the shirt went. His response was I didn't think you wanted it. I was so frustrated, but I wanted the shirts so I had him order it. I then asked the salesman about the suits and if they did custom. His response was I don't know it's not my department. That was strange since the salesman excused himself to grab a tailored suit for a customer. After I purchased the shirts I asked the salesman for his card in case I wanted to purchase more later on. His response was I don't have one. I then asked him if he just started and and he said know I just haven't got around to ordering them. For a store that prides them self on customer service these two salespeople are in the wrong business specially since they get paid commission. read more

I love everything about this store! When ever I go to Woodfield I always have to stop at Nordstrom. Diane Kim who works in the Petite Focus is thee best sales representative we have ever met. My mom loves her, she always goes to buy clothes with her. She knows all of our family by name. I also love the decoration of the store, it looks waaaayyy better than any other department store i've ever visited. Everyone who works here is soo nice. Love Nordstrom's but if you go for a bra fitting (they are very good at this) and just purchase ONE bra, the sales person will act very offended! I have had this happen twice at Woodfield and the first time the sales gal actually followed me around after my single purchase and asked me if she had done a good job....and I felt very pressured as if I had done something wrong by not spending MORE money. Hey Nordstom's bra fitter - get a life! It's not all about you - maybe I just didn't have more money than what I spent. Jeez - you disappointed ME! read more

I went here to buy some Uggs the other day and was immediately pounced on by a salesman (what happened to shopping in peace?). I knew what I wanted to buy before I got there so I told him what I wanted and was ready to check out. The guy first got me one pair for me to try on - they were wonderful and I loved them. Then he dissapeared, leaving me waiting at the checkout for several minutes. I didn't understand what he was doing. All I wanted to do was check out with the shoes I had chosen. Well, he finally returned with a different box of the same Uggs, and switched out the other box with them. I didn't think much of it, I don't know why. When I got home, I realized why - one boot had stitching torn on one side, and upon wearing them I could also tell that that shoe had some kind of defect with the fleece at the bottom - it was clumpy and dug into my foot and made it uncomfortable. I couldn't even wear them, it irritated me so much. Tomorrow I will be bringing them back telling them I was sold a damaged item. I better be given an immaculate pair this time, or there will be trouble! The moral of this story is that this place has nice items, but NEVER TRUST SALESMEN!! Always examine the pair of shoes they choose to give you before checking out. I'm sure this guy was just trying to get rid of some damaged stock, and thought he could pull one over on me. Sorry, not gonna happen Nordstrom!! EDIT: Increased to 2 stars because I took them back and they did give me a new pair without a problem. However, this time he gave me a never before opened box. It was clear from the comparison that the Uggs i had originally been given had been used prior to me owning them. They did not contain the same inserts, and were not packaged the same (not to mention they were damaged). If I do choose to buy Uggs here again I will make sure they give me a brand new pair. read more

I love Nordstrom :) The service is great and the store is always clean and neat. I have had many great experiences but today I want to write about a recent experience that I had with the women's watch department. I have several Michael Kors watches and I have purchased most of them from Nordstrom. I have had a couple different white MK watches and have not had the best luck. The band has turned colors on both of them. the great part is that Nordstrom has exchanged both of them for me. The last watch I brought back I couldn't find the receipt for and Kerri helped me anyways. She sent it in to Michael Kors who basically said there was nothing they could do and that I could choose a different Michael Kors instead. Kerri had me fill out some paperwork ( I had to submit three different choices and one of them would be sent to me) and she took care of the rest. She was so nice and so helpful. I live downtown and just so happen be at the Woodfield location when I brought the watch in so the company handling the exchange mailed it to Kerri at the Woodfield location. She was nice enough to offer to take the links out ( I wouldn't have remembered to ask) and mail it to me so I didn't have to make the trek to the burbs. I will make sure to stop by and see her when I am at this location. She made a frustrating experience a positive one :)) read more

I'm usually not the type to shop at Nordstroms (always thought that it was above my means), but the quality and staff have made me a convert. I've recently been there twice and the staff have been more than accomodating, very helpful and friendly. On my last trip I literally had ten minutes to try on and purchase the item I needed; Carrie (women's) was extremely helpful and very patient with my daughter who basically followed Carrie around everywhere and even helped to bag my purchase. It was very cute and endearing! Thanks for the great shopping experience!!! read more

this doesn't apply to just the woodfield location: Nordstrom has changed over the past few years. and not for the better. their service is poor, the associates are missing that, "make you feel special", thing they used to be great at, their return policy is horrid as is the price match policy among many other things. i used to brag about the service this company would provide. go into the store for help, and the sales associates act like some of the snobby customers. i miss the company that recruited, hired, trained and maintained true sales professionals and generally good people. the price point of much of their product demands a higher caliber associate to assist customers. want a price adjustment on an item you bought three weeks ago: you can't have it. you can return it, then buy it again at the sale price. what is the logic here? make your customers jump through hoops in hopes they don't bother and you keep the added margin? i see no other logical reason here. i've ended up simply returning items and purchasing elsewhere simply due to this Nordstrom non-sense. the benefit to shopping at Nordstrom: i honestly can't think of one over their competitors anymore. as a result of the change in their culture, i've gone to their competitors for my suits, dress wear, shoes/accessories and directly to designers like Paige for my jeans. i've spent thousands at Nordstrom in the past, but have decided to take my business elsewhere most of the time. it's a shame that they've ruined what used to be a good thing. typically happens with corporate decisions and policies that are out of touch with what's going on at retail stores. managing reports always causes sacrifices in areas of the business that matter most: hiring the right people, and your customers. should any Nordstrom rep read this: i don't need to get a reply along the lines of, "thank you for your feedback. we're sorry for your experience. know that we shared this with our teams". that doesn't change your policies nor the associates. i imagine Nordstrom's stock will continue to drop. read more

I never usually write reviews of places, but my recent experience at Nordstrom's was phenomenal and prompted me to quickly write a review! The customer service is literally second to NONE. If you love shopping, you get the idea lots of retail places are quick to either see you as a nuisance, are quick to make a sale, or worse yet, if you brought a problem to a cashier, or associate, woe wretchedness! Not at Nordstrom's. The staff here is AMAZING! They will do everything in their superhuman powers to see you leave happy. They have made me a 100 percent Nordstrom's girl for life! Special props go to the Customer Service team, Lisa and Carla (both managers), and Trisha. They could have, legitimately, told me I had to take my problem to Nordstrom Rack and be done with it. However, what they did instead was basically tackle on the problem for a full half an hour, with the utmost courtesy, professionalism, and head-strong ambition! Once again, THANK YOU! I pretty much joined yelp just to write this one review. Again, the staff here is second to none. They have truly converted me and I will do all my online shopping at Nordstrom's and will be a frequent visitor. read more

Let me start by saying that I usually love shopping at Nordstrom. The customer service is usually outstanding. So this review is targeted toward one individual woman working in the men's department. I didn't catch her name but she was sporting a very 2014 cropped black sweater over a long white blouse, had an attitude of being superior to all and very much lacked the usual outstanding Nordstrom customer service skills. I asked Ms. Attitude where I could find the young men's section of clothing. Without looking up from whatever she was doing she said in a snarky tone "what do you mean by young men?" Ok....I'll explain, I thought. I said "teen, as in high school age clothes as opposed to suits and ties". She, again without looking up, motions her head..... much like Lassie would have done when informing someone that Timmy fell down a well....and says "The Rail". The Rail, by the way, is a department within the men's department....I guess we're all supposed to know that. Thanks, Ms. Personality! I hope you, one of your co-workers, or your boss reads this and figures out who you are so they can enroll you in a much needed Nordstrom Customer Service refresher course. read more
