This Nordstrom store is my fav to go for shoes...it was originally a shoe store. And when they have a shoe sale WOW I save a boatload of money. !! They carry the biggest selection of dresses anywhere, from simple straight to georgous formal and black tie occasion dresses. The "Shopper helpers" in the dress dept are only happy to help me pick out color and style while I'm in the dressing room, so convenient. No redressing to run out on sales floor again. I went to Nordstroms to get some new bras, as I know they have a broad selection and my size is just odd enough that I can't get bras at lower-end stores. I've had success at Nordstroms before, so I marched with confidence to the lingerie counter where a young girl approached me. I told her my needs, and this associate clearly had NO idea what she was doing. I explained that I didn't like soft cups and needed a wider gore, and what did she give me? A handful of soft cups with narrow gores.... what??? I tried them on anyway, just in case there was a bra secret that had been evading me all this time, but no. Fit horribly with the problems that I am used to. So, I told her that the bras didn't work and could she recommend some others, and she just shrugged and said, "Well that's all we have." You've got to be kidding me. 5 bras in and that's all you have? Bad service. Rude associates. Would not advise. read more

This is for the women's shoe department. I found the clerk to be sort of brush-offy with me, rushed, helping two people at the same time. With her "helping" me in a frazzled way, I felt like I was in a bargain store. It just wasn't the polished, helpful experience I would have expected from a high-end store like Nordstrom. I wished I had her full, undivided attention--at least to help me figure out if the shoes fit me properly-- but she was too busy running around. I have to say, the general experience was meh. They need to hire more clerks and give them some some professional training. I won't be back to the shoe department here. read more

I love the service in the beauty area here. Stopped in because the Partridge Creek store gave me the wrong Dior product. Brought it back here because it's close to my work. While I did appreciate the discounts, it was very confusing and we didn't have any idea what was happening, why it was happening, or what the sale amount was. So my card was charged twice and the salesman came to me like I didn't have enough money on the card. I'm like why would I be here shopping then. So when I'm showing him he is arguing me down until I say I want to see a manager. He was treating the situation as if there was nothing he could do after double charging my card. The manager says there is nothing that can be done but let me take the shoes home and then when the charges clear she will charge my card again for the remaining balance. Like letting me take the joes home was a big help after you have messed up my account. The charges probably will be processing for 3 days probably more being the weekend. I was so unconvinced and neither one of them even cared. They were acting like because it was a huge Amazing it was insignificant. I'm sorry but 176 is a lot for some people for you to mess up on the holidays in there account! I'm a big fan of this store, only thing I love/hate is probably their jewelry/watch dept. I either get a lovely person who actually knows their stuff or I work with a few unprofessional, rude person who seems adamant they are the authority of a product. I love shopping at Somerset, and I have never had a problem, however, when I saw some Vans (shoes) that I wanted online, I decided to go down there to get them myself. I met the rudest, just awful old man there who did not want to help me because I am 16 and he does not think I can afford to buy stuff on my own. First I looked to see if they had the shoe I was looking for there, and they did, just not in the right color. I asked him if he had the other color and he said no...I even show him a picture. So I said okay, I will order them online, but I would like to know what size I am because online they say they run larger. Well going through the sizes he has one left in the size that seems would fit me (after trying on the two sizes above it) And behold! The exact shoe I was looking for. I told him that this was the one I was looking for and asked politely if he had another because it was obviously worn and returned (I mean common I found a hair and fuzz ball inside it and the white souls had dirt on them). He said no and walked away. I can not believe the service. I am absolutely appalled at it and I am never going to Nordstrom again. read more

Stopped for a complimentary, 5min make-over at the Dior department. Asked immediately if their products are cruelty free and was told yes. Bought mascara and concealer, got home (to Canada) and checked online to confirm they're cruelty free and they are not. They sell in China, meaning they need to test some products on animals. I wasted $85 on overpriced products that are not what I was told I was getting. If you don't know, don't lie. read more

Nordstrom is perhaps the best department store to me. I typically despite department stores like Macy's because everything just seems to be a mess. However, at Nordstrom (and this one especially) is very organized and clean. My Nordstrom credit card gets me in trouble all the time, especially in the BP shoes and clothing departments. Another reaosn I am such a fan of Nordstrom is because of the Cafe Bistro inside. Here they have the absolute best bread pudding you will ever have in your life. I didn't even know what bread pudding tasted like until I tried it here, and I swear I am in love. Of course, customer service is everything at Nordstrom, so you always leave feeling like ur experience was valued. read more

Men, don't go here for suit alterations if you want them done right! The attention to details, like taking in the center seam when it's almost three inches too big, and the pants are measured too long for a narrow width hem, is not what anyone should expect from a luxury department store. Hubby quit getting repeated alterations to the same suit and just take his new suits to a great Royal Oak dry cleaner or Birmingham clothier. The little shops take pride in their work, they don't work for points to keep their jobs, and we rarely have had to get pants re hemmed. read more

My mother visited the lingerie department for mastectomy prosthesis fitting. Joanne was the Nordstrom person who helped her get the correct fit. My mother was concerned about going, however, Joanne was so skilled and so kind and caring that it made the visit so much easier. I went to Nordstrom at Somerset to get my watch sized, the lady in the jewelry department was giving me a hard time, stating that she needed proof the watch was purchased at Nordstrom, or I'd need a UII. Really? I know how it works there, they take back wore and ripped crap., yet can't size my watch?...And yeah the watch is from Nordstrom. So some other lady came over and the two were trying to fix it, the one that was giving me a hard time put the clasp piece in backward! Then told me I need to take it to a jeweler...Wow. What a moron, isn't this lady suppose to sell and size watches all day anyways? Isn't it her job? Messed up my watch, and can't fix it? Why would anyone hire this idiot for that department? Can't even do her damn job. If I had the proper tools I'd be better off doing this myself. Worst location ever! Stay away from that damn jewelry department, don't trust idiots to mess with your pieces. read more

Bought a suit at the Michigan Ave. store in Chicago for my son's wedding and when it was sent to me the alterations to the button location was wrong. My salesman in Chicago (Larry Smiley) arranged for me to visit the store at Somerset Mall in Troy, MI to have them correct the problem. It literally took 10 minutes to walk in, tell them my problem and the tailor took the suit and fixed the problem and I was done. That was way beyond my expectations, kudos. Then I started looking at pants and was approached by a stylist, Howard Klein, who spent the next 2 hours creating a new casual wardrobe for me. I didn't have any intention of buying anything other than maybe a pair of dress pants, but he was so right on with his picks, coordination and attention to fitting my body appropriately that it was hard to stop.
