Look, this is Costco and it checks all the boxes: packed food court, ample sample stands, tire shop in the back. But where this particular location shines is the staff and service. Everyone is busy but happy to stop and help the customers. They're stacking pallets, pushing carts, wiping down chicken, but also taking a moment to lend a hand when you need it. I love this Costco! Like any other Costco, I wouldn't recommend going at 1pm on a Saturday, but they are well stocked. The bathrooms are clean. And when I ordered a slice of pizza and the employee noticed I had children with me she asked if I'd like her to cut my pizza. That was so helpful! I used to live closer to a different one and they had never offered that. They have also switched their drink lids to have a sippy spout to reduce the need for straws. Watch out for the samples, though. I definitely left with more than what was on my shopping list because I bought the samples I tried since I went during lunch time! Yum! This is my primary go-to Costco. I am here weekly or more for gas. We love their pizza, never get sick of it! The kids love the smoothies so much, even though they are not the most quality, they crave them. I like their sundaes. Plus I will buy a few chicken bakes to freeze for snacks for the kids. I am a huge Costco fan and enjoy their products. The kids look forward to the season raviolis that come in different shapes and colors, like the Christmas trees and bells, Halloween bats and pumpkins, and the Valentine's Day hearts. They love the Shepard's pie season. Getting our annual pumpkin and pecon pie here is a must. We have purchases countless birthday cakes here, I could go on and on. Recently I ordered some glasses. I am a bit late to the game, but I look forward to see how they turn out. They were hundreds of dollars less than our typical place and they seem to have the same brands. The people working the optical counter were friendly and helpful. So far I had a very positive experience. read more

I would like to sing the praises of Rochelle a wonderful compassionate employee of the Bloomfield Costco Store. On Tuesday March 24, 2026 at age 78 and a diabetic I went grocery shopping at Costco. After getting $500 worth of products I was not feeling well and concluded my blood sugar had gotten too low. I attempted to buy a hotdog and a lemonade but I could not get the machine to take my order. I was getting more mind fog so I abandoned the effort when I saw Rochelle and advised her of my situation. She must have sensed my stress and offered to help me. she sit me down and asked me what I was trying to purchase. After telling her she took it upon herself to purchase me a hotdog and lemonade and even put mustard and relish on it. I sat and consumed what she had provided for about 15 minutes and started to feel much better. Rochelle came back and checked on me twice. She went well beyond her paygrade to care for a member customer in a compromised physical condition. Thank you Rochelle and thank you Costco for having such a wonderful associate. Came to get a sonicare toothbrush, since our last one is on it's last leg. We had a return as well first. This Costco location has a rather awkward parking lot. The entrance is on one end of the building and much of it's available parking is situated a good distance Rork the entrances. It's the usual busy Saturday shopping day here today. The customer return line is about 7 people deep, it's moving along well enough. They have two staff working the returns. At least they finally have the plexiglass instead of the tables to create distance from customers. Took about 15 minutes or so to get in and out of the returns area. Sonicare with gold and silver handles for $149, that was our winner. Little chance of running out of TP at this location anytime today at least. They have 12 count chicken street taco kits for $14 and basic charcuterie kit as well. My hubby wanted to try their street tacos. We have had their buttered salmon before, that's good as well. Ruthie at the return/membership counter was horrible. After waiting battling through the always extremely busy store only to wait in long lines I had an employee "pre scan" my order. The bagels were not scanned, as we're waiting in a 10+ person line to be "searched" we notice the bagels were not on the receipt. We walk over to the service desk to inform Ruthie of the mistake her fellow employee had made and wanted to pay for the 2 packs of bagels. "Well I can't allow you to purchase here, you need to buy at the register." While she is sitting there doing nothing, no one at the returns line or membership area. Then gives an extremely loud, sarcastic "have a great day." HORRIBLE customer service, period. read more

I have been a long time Costco executive member and I've had a rather traumatic unnecessary experience which happened in September 2024. I share a Membership with my mother . In August of 2024 I purchased tires for my daughters vehicle however The tires were not put on the vehicle until September at which time my mother suddenly passed away after the very traumatic funeral We went to get the tires put on her car. But during the install we were informed the warranty would be invalid if we did not purchase new valve stem's. (Which came to three dollars apiece) At that time we said go ahead and put them on and the service tech asked for my card and when I used it I found out it had been discontinued due to the over exuberance of a family member to close all accounts of my mother before the funeral Without checking with me as another member on the account. The other departments would not allow us to purchase $12 in valve-stems as the account was closed by my sister who is not on the card?!? so we went to the service desk at which time we were told that no we would have to buy another membership. I had planned on purchasing a membership on my own in the new year when they were having deals So I asked if they could give a day pass so we could purchase the $12 items and they refused. I explained that we are currently recovering from my mother passing and it was just not the time to make decisions. Since all we're trying to do is complete the installation of these tires that we had purchased back in August but NOW during the actual install needed stem valves to qualify the warranty! Which we should have been told back when we purchased the tires. The service department had me over a barrel as we were in the midst of getting these tires changed and we had to continue with it in order to get the warranty The lack of customer service or even basic human empathy of the management of the store to not consider a long-term executive member who due to emotional family miscommunications no longer had access to her card and would probably at that time have purchased a new membership except I was now a little ticked . So yes we purchased the Membership but I will let you know I will be canceling the membership for two reasons (1) The attitude of the managers and the lack of empathy towards the client And (2) due to this inability to think outside of the box in unique circumstance regarding the new policy they have of using facial recognition software when there is already a photo on the back of your executive card which seems to be an blatant excuse to use technology and raise membership prices "which apparently is what they're going to be doing the new year,) In raising the prices of their memberships there are far too many warehouse clubs that offer quality merchandise for me to remain a member of this organization I will tell my friends and family and as many people as I can of the manner in which this organization treated someone during a very emotional stressful time in their lives and yeah I bought a membership ! but it ain't gonna be for long! Have shopped at this COSTCO since it opened more than 20 years ago. Never had a bad experience until this past week when going through the self check-out. I had six items total and 4 that were heavy. I politely asked the employee standing right next to the scanner if he would use his scanning gun to capture the codes on them. I made sure the codes were all visible and ready to scan. The items were heavy and awkward to lift out of the cart. He said "NO - It's self checkout, do it yourself!" Enough said. I'll shop elsewhere. read more

I went in with my honey to purchase some goods, we are at the self checkout with 4 items when i get approached by some lady, she asks if i'm 18 (i was at the time). I stated yes i am and continued checking out, she then stated she didn't belive me and needed to see my id. I show her my costco card with my picture and she claims it's not me. WTF! I do u understand that i look young for my age but i don't take no disrespect. She DEMANDED my id once again and i was fed up and did i will not hand it over, i don't know this fool. I have been a Costco member for quite a long time. My family owns several businesses and we spend copious amounts of money at your establishment. I was quite frankly, shocked, on Monday July 20,2020 at how I was treated by your cashier Barb J, operator # 54 at the Bloomfield Hills, MI location. Not only was she rude, she was demeaning and acting as if the customers were a real thorn in her side. I heard her complaining about how busy it was "for a Monday" and even one of her co-workers told her to be quiet. I tried to pay with cash for my order and she proceeded to tell me that there was no change available. If that were actually the case, then I would have appreciated an explanation in a respectful way. I asked to speak with her manager and she refused. Finally, after asking not once, but twice for her manager and obtaining no cooperation, my wife just paid with our card as to not hold up the line for customers behind us and to avoid a further conflict with this Barb character. She was confrontational and aggressive. Costco needs to know that this individual is on the front lines of their store having direct contact with their customers. I am not going to let this one experience negate all of the positive ones I've had however, as someone in the customer service industry, I would want to know if someone was out there treating my customers in this manner. read more

I love this Costco! I've shopped here a lot over the years, but now this is my "home" Costco. I came here today to get a few things as I always do, and had a good time as always. For starters, parking is ample, with plenty of spots. Getting in's a little tricky since it's right off Telegraph, so if you miss the entrance you can go in by McDonald's. Plenty of carts, and the place is laid out like all the other Costco's that I've used in the past. Place is super clean, and overall well stocked. Staff is friendly, and the lady at the photo counter rules! (I've had some crabby experiences at other Costco's so it's nice to have a friendly staff.) Lines are the usually the same, but today was light for a Saturday. I've filled prescription's here at this Costco, and their pretty good about giving discounts and their discounts are worthwhile for medications. read more

This review is for the optical department. Not the wholesale store. Had an eye exam here with Dr. Horowitz. She is such a good doctor. So thoughtful and caring. And so thorough. She actually corrected my prescription made prior by an opthalmogist. I was fitted for contacts and picked a pair of glasses. The 2 other ladies in the office are also so helpful and friendly. There is a little bit of a wait outside at the optometry area (depending on the time of day), it can get very busy. read more

Costco Optical review. After my BFF lectured me about the sorry state of my glasses, I figured it was time to get a new pair. I ordered some vintage Matsuda frames and took them here to see about a deal on lenses. Since it had been ages since my last eye exam, I decided it's worth the $69 to find out how bad things have gotten. The receptionist was welcoming and friendly. I was in a rush to fill out the patient form so I missed the DOB question. When they asked me about it, I said I need to get my eyes examined. I think that got a little smile from the optometrist and receptionist. The optometrist was very reassuring and basically said my vision is enviable and is what she would ask for if she was going for LASIK. (Since it's been a while since my last compliment, excuse me while I bask in it momentarily. Ok, done.) I was also pleasantly surprised when she told me my prescription essentially hasn't changed. After the exam I priced out lenses and they're a much better deal than other places. It was an excellent experience from start to finish. My sister likes my glasses but says one pair makes me look like SpongeBob SquarePants. That's 2 compliments in one day! read more

Worst Costco in Metro Detroit. I'm not blaming Costco. Products and services are good. The layout is different than the others in the area. It takes a couple of extra minutes to remember the alternate locations of my favorite items including coconut water and coffee. The clientele here is horrendous. Surviving the parking lot is a task. Whenever a sample lady opens her oven, everyone in a 50 feet radius abandons their carts and attacks. Once I saw a guy consume 10 samples of McCafe coffee. There are no traffic patterns in the store aisles, and children roam freely. I know what I'm getting into when shopping here and prepare for battle. read more

I love this Costco. We can always find what we need (and then some). The Costco near our home doesn't always have the products we are shopping for because they sell out more frequently. Some of our favs at this location are the mushroom crisps (you HAVE to try them if you haven't!) and the froze chicken breakfast sausages. You know Costco is. There is just something about this Costco that irks me. First, the parking lot is sideways. It's just weird. Then the customers - they are an interesting bunch. They will run you down with their carts, block you with their carts/bodies to get to the food stations. It's almost comical- I've been several times due to location. The Verizon store inside this Costco is awful. I ordered an iPhone and Brian got the wrong one--5days. Then he re-ordered and never called. When I called him on status after 10 days, he told me he could no longer get the phone. This Verizon store is operated by Wireless Advocates. I do not recommend this store or Brian. Favorite brick and mortar store that the majority of the people are well aware of what this store is and what it carrys/sells. The thing to note about this store is that it is not as crowded as the Commerce stores and therefore lines are short. Best time to shop is around noon to 2pm once all the retirees have finished there morning shopping and before works get out later in the day. read more

Oh I am sooo bummed. I got a tree from Costco in December for the happy happy holidays. It was the worst tree of my life. I called right when we put it up when we realized it wasn't going to fluff up. They wanted us to LEGIT bring it back. Like re-twine it? I guess so. I just lived with a crappy tree for the holidays. Ever since we joined Costco I have been buying all of our bulk items here. It took a while to learn how to shop at a club. Since there are just the two of us, when we get things that come in "Costco quantities" we started splitting into smaller quantities and, for some items, we vacuum seal and freeze for later. The staff has always been very helpful. The thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars is that they normally stock one type of an item and often do not carry the whole grain version. Today, I went to Costco, specifically to get a prescription refilled at the pharmacy. To my surprise, the pharmacy was closed because it is Sunday. Fade to the sound of screeching tires... What? A pharmacy that is closed on Sunday? In some states (not in Michigan) the blue laws dictate that liquor, beer and wine cannot be sold on Sundays. But I could have bought alcohol at my Costco store if I wanted to. This was not a blue law issue. IMO, this was just a policy/procedure designed for the convenience of the employees of the pharmacy department. This sets the procedure to favor the needs of the pharmacy employees over the needs of Costco customers. Is this a union issue? Maybe, but I don't care. Well I was surprised and frankly very annoyed. Pharmacies, by their very nature and because of the critical services they provide, should NEVER be closed on Sunday. At least that is my opinion. I had other items to purchase at Costco, but I didn't. They don't seem to need my business. So I guess I am stuck right? Wrong! I am not forced to shop in the Costco pharmacy department. Yes, I have prescriptions that have been filled there, but any of my prescriptions can be transferred, can't they? So on Monday I have two choices: 1. I can just make the long drive back to Costco again and get my prescription refilled on a schedule that is most convenient to the Costco pharmacy. -or- 2. I can get my prescription transferred to another pharmacy. I can do that on the phone. I think it is more appropriate to do the latter. When businesses set their policies and procedures for the benefit of the employees and at the expense of their customers, that is an indicator that the business is starting the slide down a slippery slope. I'm sorry I signed up for another year. Everything seems to be of low quality, i,e. they process there cheese to give it shelf time, it taste waxie. All the free testing samples are wanted. I just had a runin with the hearingade department, they missed an appointment, then missed my next appointment by a half hour, and then the clerk pushed a clipboard in my face and yelled paperwork, I stepped back and she did it a second time. So I finally broke down and got a membership because Visa was offering a special $20 gift card and $35 in free extras. I went to redeem the membership and the whole staff, from the greeter at the door, to the people working the floor and the lady at customer service, all were super friendly and helpful. We've always had Sams memberships and I never find their employees to be really friendly so this was a nice change. They have a huge variety of products, and so far it looks like the quality FAR outpaces Sams. Plus they actually treat their employees fairly. The only downside was the amount of people shopping, there was a bit of a wait to check out. But it was worth the extra 5 minutes. read more
