I have made it my goal in life to let everyone know how TERRIBLE this place is. Norfolk Power Equipment is the poster child of all that is unprofessional, incompetent and greedy. They "worked" on my lawn mower for four months and kept adding charges on bogus things that did not need repair. Norfolk Power Equipment is not a customer friendly place for service. Only if you buy that product from them will they provide service. I had a Stihl chainsaw which needed a repair. Because I didn't buy it from them, they refused to fix it. They are a Stihl dealer but will selectively service equipment. How is that customer service for Stihl. They told me that they are. Pulling away from Stihl two stroke machine. When pressed that admitted that it is a staff issue not a two stroke machine issue. What a weak excuse. I would not buy from them since their business ethics are poor at worst and only making a buck. Such a disappointment since I brought many Stihl products there except the chainsaw. Poor customer service for this company. I really give them 1/2 star. read more

Worst most incompetent service experience I've had in my 68 years! Stopped in to discuss fuel issue with my kubota. arranged to have it picked up for repair. Pick up and never heard back , called after 2 weeks told me what was needed and a list of other minor services needed. Multiple calls over the next month with nothing but excuses for delays. Finally was ready, paid bill and it was delivered. Turned out they only completed the initial problem not all the work I paid for. Picked it back up and it's now been another 5 weeks. Another multiple calls, excuses and flat out delivery promises most recently of Wed then Thu not met. Went to the store again in person Friday and it's closed for a company meeting! Snow coming tomorrow and no tractor!! If you can find another service option for your kubota take it! read more

I had my Walker picked up for deck repair and blades replaced and the original blades sharpened. they told me it would be about 2 weeks to do the repair and back. So when the 2 weeks came up they called me and said there was a part that has to be ordered in order to fix it all this with no ETA on the part it's been over a month since this all started and still no part and repair in the meantime I had to have a landscaping company come out here and do 5 cuts at$120.00 a cut. Do the math. they gave me an estimate of the work of over $500.00. I asked if they could compensate some of the cost cause of all the delay in getting the part and repair. the Manager said that's it's out of his control and that's not there fault that the part is not in in time. in the meantime by the time this is all done and squared away I'm going to be out over$1000.00 the repair was also not to hard to do in the first place they could of gotten the part from one of the mowers that they had on display and didn't do so. I'm very disappointed and if I knew that the service was going to be this bad I never would've bought from this company they need to get there act together. very poor service I would highly recommend that you purchase somewhere else. read more

Quite bad. I went in a couple weeks ago to get my husquvarna lawn mower blades sharpened. They recommended replacement blades, so I ordered them and asked that they be shipped to me. I called a week in, they told me they'd be in Tuesday - and that they'd be shipped to their location and then reshipped to me. What, is it 1982? Seriously? .... regardless Tuesday came and went. I called another week later and they told me the same thing. If I cant trust them to get me lawnmower blades... I'm not going to trust them with anything more than lawnmower blades. Also the guys on the phone call you "pal" and when I'm already annoyed that makes it way worse. I'm not your pal. You don't know me. "Sir" will suffice. My lawnmower has been sitting out in the front yard with the deck upside down and the grass growing around it for weeks now. Would not recommend. read more

I just had the most irresponsible experience with the Service Mgr. I sent my Kubota tractor to them for repairs and PM at a pre-paid transport cost of almost $500. I wrote down and pre-approved all of the work to be done. After a week or more of waiting, with no word from them, I made 3 telephone calls over several days just to find out what was happening. Each time I was told the repair shop was waiting for part quotes from their parts dept. I finally spoke with the Service Mgr., who I tried to explain that, as their customer, it was poor service to take my tractor and work order, never call me after several days to tell me what's happening, and when I call them, to cavalierly tell me I just had to wait an indeterminate time. The Service Mgr. was dismissive, and would not even give me an estimated time for when my tractor might be ready, but happily lectured me on the fact that they had a lot of work and that I just needed to wait. No comprehension whatsoever of customer concerns, even when the concern is as rudimentary as asking for an estimated timetable for returning my tractor. In the end, the Service Mgr. told me I had two choices - wait (for how long??), or take my tractor back. Obviously, I'm done when Norkfolk. When calling over the phone you get 3 options, parts dept. service dept. and sales. After calling the parts dept. and sales dept. OVER 5 times each, I then called the sales dept. who answered first call. Right then I knew I should find another place to do business with, but I gave them another chance. I drove there, placed an order for a few small parts and was told they would be ready in 3-5 days and that they would call me. After more than 7 days, I went again, in person, to check on my order. Half of my parts came, the other half was back ordered for another month. The moron at the desk acted so miserable to sell me my stuff along with all the other employees that won't greet you. On top of that, the people there won't even look you in the eyes! They must know how stupid they are. I would not recommend this place whatsoever, go shop online, or literally anywhere else. read more

Husband had heart attack then stroke; first words after stroke were "have my kubota towed to norfolk to get fixed". We had it towed by them; it sat there for 2 - 3 weeks; no call. I called 3 x while in 2 different hospitals; waited for someone to look at it; finally it's looked at and I'm told they wont know how much it will cost until they open it up fully and for what they see its over $2,000 BEFORE they look further AND even then aren't sure they can fix it. I told them to tow it back to my yard and park it in FRONT OF THE BARN. They said they couldnt get it back to me until Monday (this was a Thursday; I said good - Monday is good, have them PARK IT IN FRONT OF THE BARN." While in hospital, I get a frantic call from my mother that there is a Kubota tractor IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVEWAY BLOCKING THE GARAGE (and more importantly blocking where the wheelchair ramp is being installed the next morning at 9 am (on a Saturday); they dumped the tractor without ever calling me - in the middle of the driveway, WITH NO KEY EVEN THOUGH THEY TOOK OURS (yes I know they are universal) but they returned it with no key, no battery life, on the wrong day (a Friday afternoon!), in the wrong place (blocking where the wheelchair ramp was being installed next morning at 9 am); with no power. I called frantically Sat. am and was told "the Owner was on his way" --Owner never called, never showed up. I had to get two neighbors to come over, bring their Tractor across the street, and TOW the kubota out of the way, onto the grass. The wheelchair ramp install was already being paid extra for on a Saturday; never got a call from the owner, service, anyone. I wrote an email , called & a letter asking them to call me and asking since there were so many mess ups, to work with me on the $375 they charged to just tow it there and back & open it up. I called and got Owners son Brian Coulter and he said "I'M DONE" when I asked what he could do. How disgusting. The service was terrible. The treatment was terrible. The communication was terrible. This mess up jeopardized my husbands ability to COME HOME - paralyzed. Brian didnt care and was rude on the phone. NEVER GO TO NORFOLK POWER & EQUIPMENT. Their other reviews say the same. read more

I wanted to buy a Husquvana leaf blower/Vacuum and the salesman said they had two in stock. When he showed me the first one, the blower hoses were missing. He then located the other one in stock and those hoses were also missing. He then offered to sell me a different model that was 100 dollars more than the leaf blowers with missing parts. I said I was looking for the Husquvana, he replied, "Well this isn't your lucky day". He never asked if I would like to order it. He just walked away and started helping another customer. Update: I finally got my mower back. It was dropped off to my house 4 hours after the window they gave me. Apparently they forgot to put it on the truck that day, but of course no one called me to let me know. The mower was dropped off without the paperwork (surprise surprise), which they told me was WITH the mower when I called that morning. The mower was also rusted in spots and had some dings and dents on it. I can only assume they stored it outdoors. They replaced the carb with what looks to be an aftermarket part. The plastic shroud was painted black to cover the gas damage. I was expecting this because they called me the day before to confirm drop-off and said the part hadn't come in yet and they didn't want to hold the mower up waiting for it. After I noticed the paperwork was missing, i called (twice) and no one answered the phone, so I got in my car and drove over. When I showed up, all the employees were sitting around chatting with one anther. There was one customer in the store browsing around. Obviously everyone was too busy to answer to phone. When i asked about the missing paperwork, it was no surprise to learn the guy didnt know what I was talking about. He asked someone else and they said the paperwork wasn't in the store. They apparently mailed it to me (still waiting on it 3 days later...). i asked about the plastic shroud and I was told it was ordered THAT MORNING... not the week before like I was told. They clearly don't value their homeowner/residential customers. If you aren't buying a $50,000 excavator they want nothing to do with you. Spent a lot of time doing some on line research for wide area walk behind mowers. Spoke with the rep in the Wrentham store after comparing Toro Timemaster with Cub Cadet (in other location). Told him of my concern with not enough cc's in the engine (common on-line complaint). He said that unless I was mowing 5 lawns per day and 3-5 times a week (which I'm not) then the Cub Cadet was overkill. Yeah, more powerful, but not necessary. He was 100% right. Definitely go for the delivery ($50). Mower comes assembled, unboxed, oiled, gassed & ready to go. read more

My old riding mower (Husqvarna) needed a new blade. I foolishly managed to snap the blade bolt off and was left with a useless tractor. I called up NPE's service department and got simply great service. Polite, prompt, and pros the whole way. Scheduled a pickup, confirmed it again in advance, and walked me through all steps. I had them do some maintenance and additional small repairs as well. Mower was returned with final charges even a bit below the estimates. Now here is why I bothered to leave a review. I start the tractor and it sounds great. But the mower won't engage now. Ugh. Normally this is a nightmare. But I called and they sent a tech to my house to fix it...within 24 hrs. HUGE. Just a loose connection. Again, super polite and professional with multiple follow ups and great communication. For a busy commuter with a family this is pure gold. Impressed! read more

Update: Per my previous posts (you should read if you are reading this) in March-I was surprised when I received a call from the service manager at Norfolk Power Equipment. We discussed my issues and a plan was made to have them come and pick up my machine to evaluate. They did-and that was the last I saw it-this was March. The day my machine was picked up-I contacted the service manager (left a message) making him aware that my snow blower was on the way. I never heard back. Fast forward 5 months-I have left messages and even went into the shop and personally left a message with another service guy-(he actually called the service manager and told him I was there). It has now been 3 days (2 business days) and I have yet to hear back from them with a solution. Can't really say anything else at this point. Utter disappointment-owners should really be ashamed of themselves-but they probably don't care either...be warned if you are someone (joe homeowner vs big contractor) looking to purchase or have something serviced. Went to look at snowblowers and they were extremely helpful walking me through everything. I took the guy's card and said I would call him when I was ready to buy. No pressure at all which I appreciated. A month later called him and bought my Ariens 28 which I love. They deliver for 50 and the delivery guy walked me through everything. Being a Finance guy, they did not make me feel stupid asking what a "choke" was or any of my other Beginner 101 questions. I would give them 5 stars as all the guys I worked with were patient, knowledgeable and easy to work with. My one issue is the lady answering the phone who was miserable and upset that I called on Dec 26. Beside her awful rude attitude to a customer, I would recommend you buy your snowblower here. Hopefully they find a nicer lady to answer the phone but otherwise- great service except the grinch lady on the phone. read more

On Sept 8th they picked up my Ariens snow blower for service. I had a slight belt noise in the auger area at the end of last season so I decided to have the "pros" check it out. Keep in mind this is where I purchased this machine. I called them 2 weeks after they picked it up and was told it would be 4-6 weeks before they could look at it. Funny they didn't tell me that when I arranged for the service! I have been in the auto service industry for over 30 years, and I understand this is their busy season for winter prep. I waited another 4 weeks and called again, and was told it hadn't been looked at yet and they would get in touch with me with an estimate. I asked them to please e mail me the estimate 3 times, I never received one. I waited another 2 weeks and called again they said they were shorthanded and would get back to me soon. I called AGAIN after a week and got an estimate (8 WEEKS LATER!) I asked them to go ahead with the repairs, and they said it would be done by the end of the week. I called the following week on November 7th to see if it was done. They didn't know if or when it was done and would have to call me back. Finally got back to me with a delivery date, November 13th and final cost. I received it on Nov 14th, FINALLY. They charged $8.00 for fuel and the fuel tank was empty. Not to mention it is listed as premix 50:1 fuel. As you know snow blowers take REGULAR fuel! This is the worst service I have ever seen, they don't care about customers who continue to purchase from them. Rocco T. read more

I had already decided on a Gravely ZT 42 zero turn mower, so I walked into the showroom and sales had me out of there in 10 minutes with a delivery date. The mower was delivered on time. I called service once for a minor maintenance question and they were very helpful even though I felt like a complete idiot. I'm glad I went with this company as I had other choices, and was concerned that their focus was on commercial customers. I went to get a snowblower here a few years ago and they had about 50 different of models to choose from. The salesperson went through all the options and I have been satisfied ever since. They keep track of any and all warranties, and their service dept does a solid job. I have bought 4 different pieces of equipment here and will go back if I need more. First, sorry to say but I'm done with them too. K.B.'s review sums up my situation. Tons of product so that's why a 2 star rating, they have awesome stuff but their service is SLOW and not spot on. Go to a smaller local dealer like Midway Power in Norton. He's not a huge dealer but like most small engine shops is the same price as everyone else, labor is super reasonable, and fast. BTW, they wanted $ 150 to install a new $ 23 carb on my Honda mower. What a joke. Glad I never bought my Husqvarna saws from them...I couldn't afford their "service". read more

This place is just too busy to answer the phone - called a few times to get a chainsaw - no one called back. Went to Sudbury instead and got one all done and ready in 90 minutes. Norfolk has lots of inventory and very little staff. Also asked about getting my mower fixed last year - told me it would take 6 weeks. And, worst of all, it took me two years to find out why my zero turn kept killing batteries - the unit they sold me had a wiring harness that had had a fuse holder removed and other electrical issues that I ended up fixing myself. Have purchased more than a dozen items over the years - many thousands of dollars, but, no more. read more

I am a commercial customer and will typically purchase cut-off saws, chain saws and generators from this location. The purchase price is generally average and the product availability and sales staff is good. The service department on the other hand is absolutely horrible!! If the sign said Non Service department that would be correct. Most recently I brought a chain saw which started for me once to the service department for repair, I got it back only to have to bring it back the next day. That was in October of 2017, I am writing this yelp review 2/12/2018. Now I have made numerous calls (at least 15) to follow up on the saw and the status of the repair - I receive 0 calls from the service department. I have made two trips to pick up the repaired saw only to find out that it is not repaired. I am writing this review be cause there is an unkempt fellow with a beard in the service department who believes he is doing NPE customers a "favor" by his being present and for speaking with me he was going above and beyond his duty. The last time I left there, last week, and my saw was not available again... he made sure to let me know - the paying customer - that he is fully aware of the situation with my saw that has been in his possession since October of 2017 and that I should not even be talking about it with him, he was too exasperated ( assumably messing up someone else service order) On the ride home it dawned on me that that same unkempt bearded guy was the same guy I dropped of a fully functioning relatively new Stihl cut-off saw for a spark plug and filters. Instead of replacing spark plugs and filters as authorized, the service department disassembled the saw and rendered it inoperable because it did not meet factory compression in some minor way, this saw was no longer the factory's when they sell it to me or anyone else, that was a scam. I warn any customer of this business to look elsewhere, this service department cannot fix an outhouse latch, and as far as parts go I recently paid $69 for a Husqvarna 14" chain saw bar that the company with small "a" logo can sell for $35 and have it to you the next day. My boyfriend brought our lawnmower to Norfolk Power to fix the self propel mechanism. The lawnmower was in working condition but just did not self propel. It was only one year old and cost $400 brand new. Norfolk Power charged him a $55 deposit and quoted a total fee of $150 for the fix. They told him it would be ready in 2 weeks. After 3 weeks we had not heard from them, so my boyfriend called to follow up and was told they would be looking at it that day. They had not even started the repairs yet, although it was supposed to have been ready a week prior. A week later they called to tell us it would be more money as additional repairs were needed. They quoted around $185. We agreed to the additional repairs as our lawn was getting out of control and needed to be mowed. A week later my boyfriend called and was told they put in the parts to be ordered but still couldn't get it to work, and they would need to call the manufacturer directly to see what was wrong with it. I'm not sure why they said it did not work as the lawnmower worked when we gave it to them. Again, the only issue it had was that it did not self propel, and we just had to push it across the lawn, but it did mow the grass. They told us the total fixes were around $280 for a $400 machine, and we agreed because we urgently needed to mow the lawn. We began to feel that we would never get our lawnmower back, and this company was scamming us. They had been giving us the runaround for 6 weeks and were not proactive in calling us back or providing a firm answer on whether or not they could fix it or when we would get it back. Our lawn desperately needed to be mowed, and we received complaints from our neighbors, so we were forced to buy another cheap lawnmower in order to mow our lawn. My boyfriend called the company to ask for a refund of his deposit and was told that the manager wasn't there, but he would call us back later that afternoon to let us know when the lawnmower would be ready. The manager never called us back, but another representative called the following morning saying it was ready and we could pick it up, but we reiterated that we just wanted our deposit back. My boyfriend called today to follow up on the deposit refund and was threatened that because the lawnmower had been fixed for over 10 days, they could charge us a fee of $15 per day in addition to the total fee for the lawnmower "repairs". They said they would take us to small claims court if we keep "harassing" them. We have not harassed them at all besides the two times we've called for a refund and were never called back after the first call. We have not even asked for our lawnmower back even though I strongly feel that this company has not been professional at all throughout this entire process. They took approximately six weeks to fix a lawnmower that was originally supposed to be fixed in two weeks, and kept hiking the price up to the point that it would cost almost the same amount to fix as it would to buy brand new. I can't help but wonder if the company did this on purpose in order to keep our $55 deposit as well as our lawnmower which they can now sell to someone else for a profit. read more

I have just posted an awesome review for Stewart's Power of Holbrook. I was introduced to them by Honda Customer Relations when I refused to allow Norfolk Power to work on my under-warranty mower for a third time for the same issue. Here is a summary of what occurred and how I was treated and you decide if you want to do business with them. While I know the names of the guys I dealt with, I will not use them here. I dropped my 2-year-old mower off in January because it was back-firing and the mower was not rolling easily when pulled back. They rebuilt the carb (on a 2-year-old mower? huh?), adjusted the valves (really?) and adjusted the drive cable. On my first use in late April, it was still back-firing and still pulling back hard. I figured I'd give it another use to see if something needed to "break in" or loosen up. The following week the wheels were actually locking up, so I called them and they said they could not look at it that day because they were busy. I insisted and brought it down. Here's where things really went bad. They first told me that the back-firing was normal because the carb choke plate sometimes gets stuck partially open when the engine is warm. I asked, if that's the issue, then why did they rebuild my carb for $88 and said, if there is a malfunctioning choke, it needs to be fixed. No straight answer. Regarding the locking wheels, they had no answer and, as to the hard pull-back, they said that it was normal and all those models pull back the same. He offered to show me how the 3 similar models on the showroom floor would pull back the same as mine did. Well, wouldn't you know, each of the 3 rolled back nice and easy just like my mower did for its first 2 years. It gets better. I suggested they check the drive cable adjustment and was informed that the drive cable was not adjustable. When I asked how they could charge me for an adjustment that is not possible, I got a blank stare. It gets even better. I told them they had to figure it out and walked away, into their showroom. I went back to the service area after 30 minutes and saw the repair guy with a service manual on the ground and a wrench in his hand. I asked what was up. The same guy who told me that the cable could not be adjusted, was adjusting the cable to specs. He even told me that it was supposed to be set at 13-14 and mine was at 18. Oh, maybe that was the issue???? So, I left the mower because they were going to check out the pull-back and wheel lock issue further and also try to figure out how to fix the alleged choke problem. As soon as I got home, I called Honda Customer Relations. I explained everything and they agreed the carb did not need a rebuild and offered to refund me the cost of it. They also said it was utterly rediculous to suggest that a sticking choke plate is normal and told me there was a well-known issue with the carb (a thermo wax problem) and a tech bulletin had been issued and Norfolk certainly should have known about it. Regarding the other issue, they authorized a new transmission and wheel assembly, under warranty. Despite this being a "come-back," they had my mower for 2+ weeks. When they delivered it (Honda insisted they do so and paid for it) - and I know this will shock you - the wheels were immediately still locking up. Almost 3 weeks, under the direction of Honda Customer Relations, a come-back, warranty work and they still managed to screw it up. I spoke with Honda and explained that I would not again have Norfolk touch my mower. They agreed to pay for it to be picked up by Stewart's in Holbrook and repaired there. Stewart's quickly diagnosed the problem (Norfolk failed to install 2 spacers on the new transmission; they apparently also failed to do a 10-second rool-back test after they repaired it), fixed it and had it back to me in a week. Kudos to Stewart's and Honda for their commitment to customer satisfaction. I see reviews here that suggest that those spending big money on new equipment are treated right and those who just need something fixed experience a different level of attention and customer service. What companies like Norfolk Power fail to recognize is that, in this era of social media, treating one customer wrong can have huge repercussions. Just as a result of word of mouth, my landscaper, who was planning to buy a commercial mower from Norfolk, has chosen to go elsewhere. Love the Kubota machine but hate their customer service. In one word... Horrible. I have had my Kubota since new in 2000. Had a leak in the front axle in 4 wheel drive. It was a tough winter here in Mass. They were the factory authorized dealer in Carver Ma so I had them pick it up. $2500 later and 6 weeks along with repeated unanswered phone calls and emails ( it seems they all go to their junk folders) I got the machine back. I used it last week for the first time and one of the hoses on the bucket that I asked to be replaced started leaking at the fitting near the piston. The resulting drips plastered my driveway and my garage floor. I called the Carver store on Monday 11/16 at 9 am and they knew who I was and I asked for a tech to come to the house to fix it. They said they had to call me back....I am still waiting on Tuesday the 17th for the call back. This is the pattern they use when you deal with them. Never a call back. I have given up!! The $2500 was a rip off in terms of value and headache. The only thing they knew how to do quickly was charge my credit card!! I also sent a note to Kubota. I bought my machine when I lived in Pa and my dealer there was Peterman's in Carlisle, Pa.. They were great and always very helpful. I would recommend the Kubota machine and honestly I would buy it from the dealer in Pa. I will get my machine fixed or do it myself and buy all my parts from the dealer in Pa.
