I've been using Koopman Lumber for over a decade, I'd describe them as a boutique hardware, paint and lumber store. They are much smaller in scale than a Home Depot, but offer more personalized service, and a faster and easier solution for most related needs. For example, when I purchased a gas grill from them, it was assembled and delivered on the same day of my order. They delivered it to my deck, ready to go. I needed to match a ten-year-old outdoor trim paint for my deck and didn't know what color was used. Not only did they scan it for a perfect match, but they also provided a free paint sample can (see photo) so I could test it. They provide one free paint sample per month if you're in their customer loyalty program. You can't get everything here, but you can get most things, and find them faster and easier than the giant box store alternatives. I came to the Koopman's store in Uxbridge for assistance with two problems. I had broken my plastic housing wrench for our decades-old water filter and needed a replacement in order to change a sediment filter. Though the store didn't have the type I needed, a young staff member suggested I try an oil filter wrench instead. I went home and located one out in my shed, tried it and it worked! Why didn't I think of that? Next I couldn't get my Weber grille to light after filling both of my propane tanks at Koopman's. In 40 years, that had never happened to me before. Thinking I needed a new regulator, I bought one at Koopman's. No dice. Next I contacted the Weber grille company which sent me troubleshooting advice. I tried everything they suggested and still could not get propane out of the tanks. So Koopman's suggested I bring both propane tanks into the store. Using a screwdriver, an employee working out in the yard was able to free up some sort of device or diaphram inside each tank which was preventing the flow of propane from the tank into the regulator of my grille. Just to be sure it wasn't a problem with the tank valves, he carried each tank over to a grille that he fished out from among some rental equipment. He hooked up each tank in succession, turned on the gas, and got their grille to light. He told me it's a common problem his customers come to him with. Who knew? When I got home, I hooked up the old regulator to my grille, connected a tank to it and, sure enough, got it to light again. Koopman's didn't make a dollar for their advice or assistance today (in fact, I'll be returning the new regulator) but they reminded me of what it takes for a business to maintain long-term customer loyalty. Koopman lumber company in Uxbridge is a convenient location to my house which is 2.5 miles away. They have a good supply of tools, lawn care, house hold items in addition to lumber. The staff has always been friendly to me and helpful. Prices can be a bit high as compared to HomeDepot and Lowe's, but Koopman's usually has specials with competitive prices. read more

I normally don't write reviews, except for restaurants, but the experience here made me want to write one. I went looking for garden plants, and actually found some great deals. So if that is all you care about, this is the place. However, if you are looking for customer service, keep looking. Not once did anyone ask me if I needed help in the garden center, and there were four workers standing around. When I went to check out, the cashier Kevin, had to be the most anti social cashier I have ever met. He did not greet me or ask if I found everything ok. It was "do you have a rewards card"? When I said no he the. Told me my cost. I paid and was given receipt. No "Thank you" or come back again. Guess I will use Home Depot or Lowe's instead read more

Very friendly and professional staff who are willing and able to help. You don't have to go scouting around for someone if you have a question or need some assistance. This place is over priced and will take you for every cent in your wallet . There rentals are borderline illegal on the amount they charge and I feel swindled dl dealing with this company . Rather then charging the proper amount of 2.5 days on a rental I was hit with 3 full days costing an extra $100. And was told our software doesn't allow us to change it even though they do 4 hour rentals . I support small business as I own a small business but my business will be elsewhere that's for sure . I do a large amount of rental business and tried these guys for the 1st time and there equip Equipment is literally double the normal price of other companies . So buyer beware there customer service is good while your buying but just compare pricing on products at other stores for same merchandise. I purchased a Traeger Timberline 850 on June 23rd... Love the grill, but I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the grill as quickly as I was without the outstanding service & attention given to me at Koopman Lumber in Unxbridge, MA. Lance & Bill were fantastic (as were the rest of the staff)! I was looking to pick up the boxed smoker, but their grills have free assembly & delivery. Lance made a concerted effort to check their other stores for any un-assembled Timberlines & couldn't find one. It was late on a Saturday (at the tail-end of their deliveries) & they were able to get the smoker delivered within an hour! I'll go back to Koopman's for accessories & pellets, as well as other hardware needs. Koopman's Lumber was incredibly helpful & courteous. I left with a HUGE smile! Thanks guys!! read more

First time customer and last time customer all in one day. Placed an online order for a plastic Adirondack-style chair in white, which was supposedly in stock, according to their web page. I go to pick it up and see a dingy, scuffed white plastic chair with my order number outside the store, but the chair is totally different then the one I ordered. It's made by a different company and wasn't nearly as nice as the one I ordered. I go inside and speak to the disinterested guy behind the service desk. He tells me they were out of stock on the chair that I actually ordered. I felt like asking him if that were the case, why did you pull a fast one and try to sell me an altogether different chair that was obviously bottom of the barrel? Kept my mouth shut instead and simply asked that my credit card be refunded. A day later I notice that my card was charged, but no refund. Call the store and was told it was refunded that morning. Obviously it wasn't a priority that it be refunded immediately. Today, I ordered the exact same chair I wanted from Aubuchon's in Franklin. It was ready for pickup that same afternoon and was actually a few bucks cheaper. Won't be going back to Koopmans in Uxbridge any time soon. The whole vibe of the place is pretty depressing. Most of the employees there looked bored and miserable and hardly interested in helping customers. Big and impressive in terms of merchandise, but customer service is sorely lacking. read more

I have been here several times and always impressed with the knowledge of the staff. The quality of their products are tops. A month ago, I bought a Stihl vacuum and they ordered me some bags. Got them soon and at a good price. Called me and let me know. Today, I bought a Honda snowblower from them. I had the same snowblower a few years ago and had to sell it because I moved. They prepped the unit and had it ready in an hour. Good price. The remainder of the store is equally awesome. Look around and see excellent products in all departments. Today, one worker was explaining how to install a "flush kit" for a toilet to another customer. I love this place and want to see them survive. I recommend them highly. read more

This review is based purely on there service department and rental equipment. The staff here is friendly and very knowledgeable. They service all my Stihl and Honda products at very reasonable prices and in a fast and efficiently. I have also rented some of there equipment which is always in good working order and the prices are probably the best around. read more

Terrible place. Staff is rude. Didn't give me my money back after I gave them a gift card with not the right amount of money on it.

rented a splitter and after 1 hour use the head pin sheared. Brought the pin back and the staff immediately gave a replacement and asked if I still had time to finish the job. I knew they would have given me more time but declined as I knew I could finish what was needed to get the job done on time. All according to plan with time to spare all as a result from no dumb looks waiting hassles. Another visit, weed whacker fuel line cracked, brought in the line and they brought out the right size from inventory, cut it to length, paid and sent me back to the jungle. Another visit, fill three propane tanks - staff helped unload and load back into the truck. Another visit, needed specially made aluminum flashed. Son went with a sample and they had it made in a week. Son went back, paid and return with no issue. They recognized him as he mentioned when returning home. read more

My snow blower unexpectedly broke and after checking with the manufacturer I found that the Uxbridge store was an authorized repair place. I contacted their technician, Ron and explained my problem. He personally picked it up, determined the problem, called me with an estimate and had it back to me in a relatively short period of time. The machine was purring like a kitten. He even returned the broken parts which I found surprising since not many tradesman would bother to show you that courtesy. His work was great, the price was fair and under the estimate. Best of all, Ron was a pleasure to do business with. In all the dealings I've had with the Uxbridge and Northbridge Koopman's, I would have to say, that they're really nice people who go out of their way to make you happy. I don't know what their managements secret is, but they should bottle it and sell it to all the other chains read more
