So this place was recommended by a friend who said the food was good. I had never heard of it, even though it's been here since the 70's apparently. I went to check out the menu thru their website and decided to go ahead and make reservations. After filling in the required information, I clicked submit only to get the "we don't support online reservations" message. Ok, no worries, let me call them. Jen picked up and after a confusing conversation about me being part of a party, she said: "hold on one second". She puts the phone down and 20 minutes later, I hung up. She completely forgot about me. I know she put the phone down because I could hear everything that was going on and then when I tried calling back, the line was busy. Anyways, against my better judgement, I still went ahead and showed up as planned, party of four no reservation. We were seated immediately and our waitress (the other Jen) served us. The place is a sports bar that has wood paneling all around, tv screens everywhere and a big screen for sporting events (there was a fight happening and would start charging $10 cover charge). Jen was very friendly, bubbly personality and fun. Service was a little on the slow side but hey, we were there with friends from out of town so we were catching up. We ordered the calamari and the coconut shrimp as starters. I should point out that I do not like coconut but the shrimp were really good. I had the bacon and blue burger, my partner had the shrimp tacos and our friends had the sliders and the ribs. Everything was really tasty. The ribs fell off the bone; the burger was delicious, well made and balanced (no onions) and the shrimp tacos where pretty good too. First time here and I really enjoyed the food and service! The attendants were super sweet while bustling around. It's a Monday and it was busy, yet, I got my breakfast fast. The pancakes were fresh, fluffy and not caky tasting (overly sweet like a dessert). I requested a substitute, sausages instead of eggs, and that wasn't a problem. My American coffee was sooooo well balanced- no nonsense but with a spark, and they came back to refill! The price wasn't bad at all, same quality of food as a high restaurant . Highly recommend! We stopped by Norman's Tavern today and sat outside because of the beautiful weather. The serving staff there is so very nice! Our server, Michael, was very attentive and knows the menu very well. The food that we ordered was delicious! We both had Skirt Steak with Churrasco sauce, mashed potatoes, salad, and an order of Rice and Beans. We added Pinot Noir to our dinner. The steaks came out perfectly as we ordered, which was medium. All the sides were absolutely great! I couldn't believe we were at a Tavern. I don't mean that in a bad way either - it's actually a compliment! I know that some taverns have the best food and this is one of them! In addition, we ordered the Key Lime pie, which had a crispy crust. It was great!! We plan to go back soon. The place is well laid out, clean and tidy, quick service, comfortable chairs, and a friendly staff. We found parking easily just a few steps away. Not greasy and fresh veggies with tender flavorful meat and the fries were nice and crispy being the last order of the night. I ordered a half dozen buffalo shrimp medium. Been coming here when in Miami Beach, a few times a year. Over all a nice place with good food. But today I was very disappointed. Ordered a Greek salad. Their menu specifies the ingredients in it and it does Not mention lettuce. I like lettuce as much as the next guy, but did not expect 90% of my Greek salad to be entirely lettuce and greens, with a few tomato/cucumbers slices. Ps. The dressing made the lettuce tasty! This is my go to bar for late night happy hour and I love it. After midnight all drinks are half priced and they're actually pretty good so we like to hang out late night and have a few wings which are great too. There's enough TV's and pool tables for your entertainment. The Tavern is spacious enough with enough space in between the tables to be able to talk and not hear the next table's conversation. It does get busy specially late night so there might be a bit of a wait to get the food to your table but if you're with a group of friends time will fly by. The parking is a hassle since it's right on Collins. Sometimes we get lucky and park right in front. Sometimes we'll walk a block or two which isn't bad either. Nonetheless great Tavern with great drinks and tasty wings. read more

I love college football! I especially love watching it at home, on my couch, with a fridge full of beer with which to either celebrate when Rutgers wins and Notre Dame loses or console myself if the opposite happens. But! The Mr. left town on a 6 week world tour right before CFB season started without hooking up our cable! DOH! So, when my beloved Scarlet Knights took on the Razorbacks, I was forced to venture out to watch the carnage. I thought Norman's might be a good place to watch and I was RIGHT! Watching CFB in public always causes me angst... will I be humiliated in public? Will there be fans of the opposing team ready to throw lemon wedges at me? Will anyone think it weird that I am dressed head to toe in Rutgers apparel with a foam knight's helmet on my head? Sometimes, they make me check my joust at the door. Not to worry, I felt right at home at Norman's.... when I arrived, there were several games on the TVs but no audio other than music playing in the background. Since there were only a few other patrons on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, I asked the bartender if she minded putting on the audio for my game. Well, she did me one better... she descended the BIG projection screen and I got to not only hear my game, but see it in FULL SIZE. I felt like I was there. The fact that Rutgers won was just the icing on the cake! My glass remained filled with Fat Tire draft, my belly was happy with an absolutely delectable veggie burger and the staff couldn't have been nicer. I felt like I was was watching at home, only better because the screen was larger! I am now reconsidering hooking up the cable when just down the block, I can feel totally welcomed while drinking and eating to my heart's content (BTW, 4 pints and a burger came to $26 before tax and tip). Ginormous burger + Cutie Waitress = Happy Sergio and 4 stars (I'm holding off one star as an excuse to come back :) Working on my tan in North Beach today, I stopped at Norman's when my usual North Beach burger spot left me on a major hold when I went to call ahead an order. I sat at the bar and received pleasant service and a cute smile from Melissa. TV's above the bar where showing NBA, NHL and MLB. The interior is pleasantly dim, perfect for a quick escape from the sun. My BadAss BBQ Burger (yes, that's the real name) was as advertised. Stuffed inside a potato roll marbled with what tasted like a hint of butter, my burger craving was satisfied by a well done hamburger patty, bacon, tomato and yes a sweet BBQ sauce. Though regular fries are included, I gladly paid the premium for crispy sweet potato fries seasoned with more of their BBQ sauce. Even though I wasn't drinking adult beverages this afternoon, refills were on point and I even received a soda refill when I had stepped away to wash my hands, ready for my return. read more
