My dad finished his coffee before getting creamer he asked for two times. I asked for the salad to come with extra cheese which I thought was easy request and it came with no dressing lol. Also the soup and salad came AFTER the entrees. We sat for 4 minutes with our entrees with no utensils which makes no sense. I know you're don't come to Norms for fine dining but I feel like clean cups and utensils are a bare minimum. The waitress was not friendly and really didn't care about our concerns. When we showed her the mug she didn't even raise an eyebrow so I just kept everything to my self so things didn't get worse and I didn't want to be a Karen. First time at this location. Went for breakfast, around 0900. Was greeted and seated right away. However, waited about 10 minutes before the server came around to ask if I wanted coffee/water. Coffee was not good, but acceptable, got even coffee grinds in my cup. I ordered the Steak and Eggs Special. As expected, T Bone Steak was bland and dry. The eggs over easy could use a little bit more cooking time. The has brown was just okay. The best part though was the Pancakes. It light, fluffy, moist and buttery. Service did get better after receiving my order. She came around to check on me and refill my coffee cup which I declined. Overall experience my just average. Was there on Saturday 17 of August had the worst experience we got there about 8:30 A.M we got seated it took about 10 min. To get asked what we wanted to drink coffee came about 5 min. Later we say and waited to get order taken about 15 min. And during that time no coffee refills order taken and waited about 40 min to get our food which was not cooked as to our spwcifications and during the 45 min wait no coffee r3filla again I had to get up and ask for the refill from another waiter. It's a bad sign when a manager has to clean tables instead of seating customers. Even worse when the manager fails to notice a customer concealing a dog under her clothing. It wouldn't have annoyed me if she didn't constantly tell it to stop moving at the table directly behind me. My "medium" Porterhouse steak was overcooked and required several layers of A-1 sauce to be edible. My baked potato was ruined when I scooped up the sour cream in a cup and found a very long black hair in it. I ate the steak first since the waitress didn't check up on me. It wasn't her hair, though. The baked potato was replaced with one not contaminated this time. After asking for and receiving a refill of my drink, I waited about 10 minutes for the check and finally gave up. The manager was aware of the problem with my food, but nearly rang up the wrong order which would have been less than my meal. My honesty wasn't appreciated. The reason I went to Norms today was that I was sent a discount to lure me back after my last order several months ago at another location. So the manager made me choose between a discount for the bad service or the discount coupon code from Norms. I wasn't looking for anything free, but it would have been nice to at least receive an apology. Had they been sincere, I wouldn't have left this review. The few people there were mostly ordering a cheap $4.99 breakfast special and probably didn't tip. Despite the bad treatment, I still left a tip, but not the usual 15-20%. Most of the restaurant was empty, which is probably due in part to the poor reputation on Yelp. Unfortunately I saw the Google rating instead, which is suspiciously much higher. Lesson learned. I used to love Norms. But now that I've experienced bad service at several locations this year, there's clearly a problem with management and the quality of their employees. If I wanted poor service and being surrounded by ghetto people, I'd have gone to Denny's. read more

I'd never been to any NORMS restaurants until this brand new location. I suppose the modern decor is so different from the old ones. Hubby always asks me to try NORMS for early morning breakfast but I never wanted to. I have started to like diner food a lot these days so this was a good time to try NORMS. I really liked the flavored sweet teas beverages here, the pomegranate is my favorite. That few times we came in I ordered the same thing which was tuna cheese melt on wheat bread. Seriously the tuna melt here was one of the best I'v ever had, I can't seem to get enough of it. Sister likes chicken Parmesan, chicken tenders and breakfast plate. The pancakes are not bad here but I think IHOP still has better ones. They have some Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes, but we like root beer float as dessert better. The service is always so friendly but it does get very slow when they are busy. And at times we had to send our food back cause they were not right even though we order the same things most of the time. I think this has been an issue with many dining people here so they need to deal with this problem soon. Still the service is much better than usual diners so I am good with it most of the time. Online ordering: went to pick up my food. Someone else took it. Why because the system they have in place, any one can grab your food and go. There's no one watching the area. I had to ask for help. The manager came and tried to over talk me, explaining she knew I was upset about my food. I had to slow her down, so she could really understand, it's not the food but the system of anyone being able to go through everyone's online order and the location of the "pick up spot" is literally next to a person trying to eat. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Me and my family regularly come to this location however, today the two female hostess that were checking in parties picked and chose who to sit before us. We only a party of six noticed a more than accommodating table for us that was left uncleaned and their excuse was they let five parties go before us because they only had small tables available. There was a party of 8 who one of the hostess kept calling and the party never showed. After repeating 15 times last call for the party of 8. 10 minutes later the party showed and she sat them down. Whole time the two girls laughed and giggled the entire time they noticed our frustration having three small children with us. Located off Avalon in Carson by the South Bay Pavilion. Parking is shared with the other businesses and the mall. Lunch time here is very busy and expect to wait at least 10 mins unless it's a party of 5 or more the wait times could be more. They have a lot of workers and the servers are friendly. We actually sat at the counter cause there were two seats opened instead of waiting 10 mins. Ended up ordering the 4 deuces for $6.99 which was 2 eggs , 2 bacon, 2 sausage and 2 pancakes. I love eating at Norms there is so much to choose from and their prices are reasonable. They do give seniors discounts and others. Also check in with Yelp and get $5 off on $25 or more spent. Quite sizeable portions for a good deal! My mother-in-law enjoyed the gumbo and her ham sandwich, I think it was served on pumpernickel or squaw bread. My father-in-law devoured a cheeseburger fries and onion rings. I too ordered the onion rings which were the best I've had in a while. I also ordered the habenero jalapeno bacon cheeseburger; HUGE! The habenero dressing is just spicy enough and the burger includes halved jalapenos and one giant roasted jalapeno to garnish the top. The flavored lemonades, such as cotton candy, are a treat to see and drink. We had a wonderful server, Shantejeria, apologies if I've spelled her name wrong. It seemed all of the food was a little burned, especially the eggs. Some of the pancakes were over cooked as well.. although the hash browns were mostly under cooked.. I think they need to slow down a bit and serve food that's worthy of being out on the table. Makes no sense to serve food that will only be sent back. Norms literally has a huge sign that says they never close on there wall. The hours are posted on the wall stating they don't close til 12pm Fridays and Saturdays . Took my family to eat at 11:14 to be exact and The man at the register didn't even come to the door and let us know anything he simply waved us off and gestured they were closed. It's your standard NORMS, and it can be quite a wait for a large party. Nonetheless, it's average as long as you keep your expectations low. I suggest the SoCal Better Breakfast with bacon, hash browns, and medium eggs, and add the strawberries and whipped cream on top of the two hot cakes. Overall, it's fine! read more
