First time here, came because of the reviews. The food is just ok. The coffee was very watery, was actually yucky. Bacon tased old, like it was made at 6am and had just been sitting under a heat lamp, it was like beef jerky and stale. My pancakes were dry and the fruit on top was soggy, it was supposed to have a brown butter syrup? Where is it??? My eggs were the best part, a nice soft scramble, the gravy was good along side a potato "pancake" everything else was just blah. Very disappointing actually. Our waiter Jose wasn't attentive, and seemed upset with us for no reason. Filled up our waters but spilled it all over and didn't bother to clean up his mess, just left it on our table. Okay delicious first of all. Second, parking is literally insane so either get here early or plan to be searching for a few minutes! Though we showed up past 11 on a Sunday we were seated in about 10-15 minutes from putting our names in and sat happily at the bar. Ordered a shared Breakfast Slider order and some waters. I was super tempted to try the Carrot Pancakes but after the sliders came out I was feeling like it might've been too much so I opted for a single buckwheat pancake with berries and it was absolutely perfect! The texture of the pancake itself was divine as it soaked up any bit of warm and fresh maple syrup while still maintaining surprising integrity and no sign of sog in sight! My partner enjoyed the buttermilk pancakes with no complaints and a particular taking to the thick cut bacon! 8.5/10 the only reasons for docking points was parking and the mocha muchaco being a little too milk forward. We went to the breakfast bar on Friday. I checked Yelp and found this restaurant was close to where we were staying. We were so impressed with the staff, the outstanding food and the atmosphere. That we went there on Saturday morning at 10:00. When we initially drove by there were a lot of people waiting out front. My husband said do you want to wait or go elsewhere. As we found parking I suggested that I jump out of the car and sign us in. When I met with the receptionist he told me it would only take 5 minutes. By the time my husband parked the car and joined me it was only a 5 minute wait! Again the food was delicious.we met the owner and complimented her staffed and the excellent food! My husband and I had two opposite experiences this morning at Breakfast Bar. My husband ordered the Pancake Combo ($19). His eggs were just the way he likes them - soft and fluffy, like the egg whites have been whipped. Pancakes were also very delicious with good flavor and fluffy height. The pancakes had a brown butter topping that he really liked, didn't even need syrup. Sausages didn't seem homemade but were very tasty. I ordered the Eggs Noni ($18), which is a version of Eggs Florentine, plus a side of bacon. The Eggs Noni came on two pretty hard small sourdough discs. I had difficulty cutting through the crust with a knife. There is a lot of cayenne in their hollandaise sauce, not my favorite version. The thick slice of tomato was the highlight. Side of bacon $6 for two measly pieces - overcooked and too crunchy. I could tell the bacon would have been good if it was more on the meaty/chewy side. This came with a potato pancake which was like mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and then fried. Service was okay, I think because it was pretty busy. They may need more staff to help the servers with drink refills and to check in more frequently. Cute little modern style diner that focuses on breakfast and lunch. Love all the indoor and outdoor seating options. Service was okay. I ordered a double espresso, but they spilled a bit of it on the saucer before it got to me; and they forgot about it (they brought out my friend's coffee order but forgot about mine). I'm big on checking on the table periodically (ie refilling water, etc), and ours didn't. I had to stop someone to get a water refill. But the food was delicious! I ate every bite. I came around 1pm on a Saturday and waited about 10 minutes for a table for two. I ordered the Mom's Carrot Cake Pancakes off the summer menu. The presentation was beautiful and the pancakes were tasty - just like a carrot cake! It came with a few candied carrots, whipped white chocolate, candied almonds, and of course maple syrup. The pancakes were fluffy and the portions were generous, especially if you add 2 eggs and choice of meat to make it a combo. I really enjoyed the slight crunchiness of the almonds and carrots for added texture. I'd definitely recommend this dish and will make the trip again if it's on the menu next summer. read more

For starters the menu covers all area of breakfast and leaves you with the problem of deciding what to pick. However after trying a couple different plates, I'm sure you can't go wrong with any. Our favorites were the Breakie Sandwich, the Omelet Casserole and the waffle. Personally I haven't seen an Omelet Casserole offered anywhere else and was very curious. It's said to be a family recipe that is prepped 24 hours in advance and you can taste it! I highly recommend giving it a try! It's a pretty average sized place, but they have a decent amount of outdoor seating. It is street parking so be aware of that. It wasn't busy so our food was super quick! One of the BEST breakfasts I've had while in town! Flavor upon flavor upon flavor! Whoever thought up the HUNGOVER dish lost their mind IN A GOOD WAY! The country fried steak was HOUSEMADE and not some factory created fritter. The eggs could've been scrambled slightly softer with the cheese but were overall edibles. The fries were great for a base and sipped up the delicious red eye gravy and sweet syrup nicely and the chopped up candied bacon in the dish was SUBLIME! The HOUSEMADE potato pancake was crisp on the outside and nice and moist and flavorful on the outside and their SAUSAGE LINKS are a must get! The family's classic pancake breakfast looked PICTURE PERFECT and the bites and samples from their plate was a HOMERUN! The only drawback is that the girl at the front was being ANAL about not letting us sit where we wanted talking about they "did not have the wait staff to accommodate sitting there" and parking was a NIGHTMARE. This place kind of shares a parking lot with a very small motel and ALL the street parking gets taken up quick! Be prepared to park blocks away and walk there. So I opened my eggs noni, but the biscuit on the bottom was so... soggy? It seemed like it got so soggy from the tomatoes, so that was kind of an unappetizing part. It's nice they separated everything else tho, the poached egg and the hollandaise sauce.. even though the benedict was already so soggy lol. I actually got tots as my option, but they gave me a potato pancake instead. Which honestly, the potato pancake was very nice, no regrets on trying. The vibe has shifted toward a more minimalist coffee cafe aesthetic, and the menu has seen a significant overhaul. The Food & Value: I was disappointed to see the old favorites go. The Chicken & Waffles, previously a staple with three wings, has switched to dark meat only (thighs) with zero substitutions. As someone who isn't a fan of dark meat, that was a major letdown. I opted for the Lemon Pancakes ($21), and while the presentation was stunning, the taste was underwhelming and the portion size was surprisingly small--my son's kids' meal actually had more food than mine. The Silver Lining: The service is still the highlight here. Our server, Jorge, was absolutely fantastic--attentive, kind, and professional. The entire staff was very nice, but unfortunately, the price point doesn't quite match the current portion sizes or flavor profile. I am so disappointed in my breakfast this morning. Ordered from Uber Eats. Heard good things from Long Beach Food Scene Facebook group I belong to. Menu looked good. Wanted a hearty breakfast, but not a rock. First, the BB sliders, ugh. Biscuits hard as a rock, cold, eggs where not souffle as described (they were scrambled and fried), no hot honey as described (not even a packet of it), no discount if you choose not to get ham or turkey sausage (that comes with it). Choked down one because the lemon chive cream cheese on it was the only thing good, then wasted the other. Second, potato pancake, one 3" soggy and greasy potato pancake. I love potato pancakes and this was a fried lump of mashed potatoes with onion. Gross, only took 1 bite. Third, not sure if this was the restaurants fault or Uber driver, but didn't get the Sprite I ordered. Also, no discount if ordered without meat. All food was barely room temperature. We were surprised that the chorizo and ham weren't included, when the meal came out, since the menu implied that it was included and we werent told otherwise. We even observed the waitress charge a table the wrong receipt and tell them after they had been leaving already. Waiter kept implying that "they" messed up but she handed them and charged their card. After waiting for 20 minutes to get checked on. The water needed refilling, and our interest in the pancake diminished. I felt for the couple that had been seated next to us who werent interected with for 15 minutes. We asked for the check and the waiter wanted to just take our card to charge it. But we wanted to see the receipt to be sure that we were being charged appropriately. Came here for brunch two days in a row while in town for Dreamstate and everything was solid. I had the French toast platter day one and the breakfast burrito day two. The quality of the food was consistent and well portioned. I ended only able to finish half of the breakfast and took the rest to go for later.
