If i didnt go during work hours, i'd totally have one. Their portions are true and fulfilling, you're getting your buck for sure. This was my second visit to Clutch and Coffee. Approximately nine months ago, I came with a friend and had an excellent experience. I entered with my service dog without any issue. Today I arrived about ten minutes before 8:00 a.m. We were the only customers present besides one waitress and a male employee. He wore a black hat, had a short blonde beard, wire-rimmed glasses, and small-gauge black earring plugs. This employee demonstrated no knowledge of ADA or California service animal laws. Given the number of seniors and service-animal users in Old Torrance, staff handling the front should be familiar with these requirements. He asked me to sit on the patio. I requested an indoor booth instead. He then asked for papers or identification for the service dog. I explained that no such documentation is required under the law and that fraudulent service animals often carry papers. I informed him that businesses may ask only two questions: (1) whether the animal is a service dog required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task the dog has been trained to perform. He continued to raise health-code concerns and responded dismissively. He eventually seated us in a booth. Service after seating was poor. The waitress ignored our table for approximately seventeen minutes. She did not inform us that menus were already on the table. She later set down waters without comment and left. A young male employee refilled our drinks first. The waitress returned to the table only a couple of times and appeared only at the end when she noticed money on the table for the check. We were seated away from other guests and largely ignored throughout the meal, which made the experience awkward. We waited an extended period for the check. When an elderly woman and her daughter arrived at the front door, we stood to leave. We waited another two to three minutes with payment in hand before placing the money on the table and departing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restroom was filthy. There were no paper towels for drying hands. Toilet paper was on the floor, soap was on the ground, and toilet-seat covers were scattered and torn from the wall dispenser.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As we appeared to be the first customers to use the restroom that morning, the condition suggests it had not been cleaned from the previous evening. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III, restaurants are places of public accommodation and must allow service dogs to accompany individuals with disabilities in all areas open to the public, including indoor seating. Staff may ask only two questions when it is not obvious that a dog is a service animal: (1) whether the dog is a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task the dog has been trained to perform. Businesses may not require documentation, identification cards, certification, vests, or any form of paperwork. They also may not inquire about the nature of the person's disability or demand that the animal demonstrate its tasks. California law, including the Disabled Persons Act (Civil Code §§ 54-54.2), reinforces these federal protections. Local health codes do not override the ADA right of access for a properly controlled service dog in dining areas. The manner in which we were greeted immediately set a negative tone for the entire meal. Although my companion and I enjoyed each other's company, that was the only positive aspect of the visit. I like coming here for breakfast because the food is really good. I've been several times and all my experiences have held true to "good grub". The food is fresh and tastes like quality ingredients. The last time I was there I had blueberry pancakes with the side of bacon. The pancakes were huge and delicious. They were fluffy and flavorful and had just the right amount of blueberries. Their syrup is really good--not sure whether it's maple but it's just the right consistency and flavorful. The bacon, 4 slices, was thick and delicious. I could only eat a third of my pancakes. I took the other 2/3 home and ate from them two more meals. The bacon was cooked perfectly and so tasty that I just wanted to savor it. I was taking tiny bites and I savored every smoky, bacony and delicious morsel. There's a nice ambience for breakfast and lunch. The energy level is good and it just feels like you're at a great breakfast place. The servers are always very professional and accommodating, but my experience has not been that they are super friendly. They acknowledge you (or I should say they acknowledged me,) but I definitely didn't get the, "oh we're happy you chose our establishment to dine at"type of greeting. That has been my experience consistently as well. But because I really like their food, I'm not deterred by that because they have not been rude or anything. Let's just say I wasn't expecting there to be a theme because my partner chose this place for brunch, but they are serving up some gooooood American breakfast classics. This time, I also tried the loaded breakfast potatoes. Potatoes, sausage, peppers...perfect! Full of flavor! I was on the hunt for a great breakfast spot and stumbled upon this place as a highly recommended spot on Yelp. I was easily convinced with the reviews so I decided an early morning breakfast and to my surprise I was able to walk right in and not have to wait to be seated. It took a moment before being assisted by Catherine. Catherine took our orders which consisted of the following; two hot coffee drinks; the White Lotus and Strawberry Matcha Latte and for our meals we decided to go with the country fried portobello & eggs and the Eldon classic. The drinks were shortly served. I noticed that that strawberry matcha was "iced" and that's when the server said something along the lines of the sugar......... and just walked away. I set the drink to the side and waited for the server to come back and asked to have a different drink. So I asked for the Gibraltar. The server did not appear pleased with me not wanting the ice drink I did not ask for so she took the drink from the table. Few minutes later our food was served, but we had no utensils to eat with so I waived down another woman walking by then utensils were brought to our table. As for the food, the Eldon classic great, however the country fried portobello was very underwhelming. The portobello almost felt more sour than the usual earthy and savory flavor. When we finished up with breakfast, we placed the plates on the side of table. The check was then brought over without even asking us if we needed or wanted anything else. Service overall was a 2 of 5 stars as the server did not provide a pleasant experience as she just didn't seem to be having an enjoyable morning. Food was 3 stars as I really enjoyed the Eldon classic and the two hot drinks we had were also pleasant. I would not have a cold drink made with an option of hot or cold if it doesn't go well hot, though. In conclusion, I would say if you've never tried this place out and want to experience it, go in before 9 am. I hope that the service is much better than mine and that my service experience is not this server's normal customer service experience. read more

We have been to Clutch and Coffee before, but usually just for their drinks. Their lattes are great and usually not too long of a wait to order to go. After coming here a few times for drinks, we decided to come in to sit and eat for brunch on the weekend. Before arriving, we put ourselves on the yelp waitlist, which was estimated for a 25 minute wait. We ended up waiting for over a hour. The yelp waitlist is basically not acknowledged until you physically check in with the host, and even after then, expect a wait. As for the food, everything tasted citrus-y. We ordered pancakes, and the chicken and waffles, and everything had a taste of lemon. The pancakes and waffle were topped with lemon-butter (we had to ask for plain butter because we weren't aware the pancakes would be topped with lemon butter, though the waffle is), and even the chicken breast itself had a slight acidic/lemon taste. Having sour dairy wasn't our favorite. There are no combos here, so if you want bacon and eggs with your pancakes, you will need to order them each à la carte, or the waiter suggested to get a kids meal, which is the only way to get a breakfast combo. This made it expensive compared to other breakfast spots because everything was charged separately. Overall, this was a one and done for us. We love their drinks and will continue to come for to-go lattes, but as for their sit-down restaurant, we will pass the next time around. read more

Decided to grab brunch on a Sunday morning. Clutch and Coffee was busy and my party of 2 was 14th in line when we arrived. Apparently, they are a hot brunch spot in the area. The wait was about an hour and we arrived close to 10:30am. Staff was super friendly. Hostess checked up on us after noticing that we were waiting for quite some time. Our server was Susie and she was very attentive throughout our brunch experience. The restaurant itself is very nice. We appreciated the AC after waiting under the sun. There were booths, tables and countertop seating options. We opted for the counter which was nice as we saw the diner hustle and delicious Clutch food come out at rapid speeds. Now for the coffee and food. For our first Clutch experience, we order the country fried steak and Eldon Benedict. Food was good although the country fried steak was a little on the drier side. Drinks were good and not too sweet. All in all, we had a pleasant experience. My only advice is to try this place out when there isn't a long wait. read more

I have had Clutch & Coffee's food about four times now (I think) and have enjoyed everything I've tried here! I've had it twice as dine-in and twice as take out. I've had their blueberry lemon and strawberry pancakes. I believe the pancakes are the same, but just the compote & toppings are different. Don't quote me on that though. Pancakes are fluffy. The compote is delicious and homemade with real fruit, none of that fake fruit syrup! Each plate does come with three so it's a lot of food. My only wish is if I could order just one pancake each flavor so I can try more dishes at once! The fried chicken and waffles were great. The menu said fried chicken breast, which scared me a little since friend chicken breast can get dry. I was pleasantly surprised how juicy the chicken breast was! It had a nice seasoning. The dish came with a candied bacon and an amazing jalapeno jam. The crispy chicken relleno sandwich was very interesting and good! It was fried chicken breast and a Chile relleno between two brioche buns. The jalapeno jam, roasted corn, cheese and arugula tied everything together. My only gripe was that the chile relleno was relatively small that you were only able to have some in your bite in maybe a third of the sandwich. It also came with seasoned fries, but it was not crispy. The country sausage eggs Benedict is the best of both worlds of an eggs Benedict and sausage&gravy. It had a crispy biscuit with polish sausage and poached eggs, and drenched in sausage gravy. Yum! It came with breakfast potatoes that I wish were crispier. The biscuits and gravy are delish with the same sausage gravy as above. There is a patio that is dog friendly. Context--I came here on a Sunday. Parking: shared open lot on the street Service was great. Our waiters were very attentive and checked on us often. Ambiance is casual/loud. This place is themed with off-road vehicles that play on every tv monitor with no audio, which is easy to disregard if that is not your type of entertainment. I wonder if they would benefit from playing different sports games on each tv. Just an idea, as I noticed some tables watching sports on their phones. Food was good. The omelette and biscuits and gravy were fantastic. The eggnog latte is a seasonal item and it was also very good. Regarding the iced matcha, I think they would benefit if the matcha was ceremonial grade and not culinary grade, which is more for baking. There's a huge flavor difference if you consume matcha regularly. The jalapeno burger was good and it came with the biggest fried jalapeno i've ever seen and it was very spicy! If you're into spicy definitely consider ordering that. Side note: they have their own coffee beans for purchase. Not a lot of places have their own roaster, so i thought that was very cool. What a fun place. We put our name on the wait list and got seated about 30 minutes later. First time here. The neighborhood has lots of free street parking and it was easy to find a spot. The restaurant is fun with a motorcycle vibe. The counter seats had big springs to hold the seats up. They thought of everything, even a socket for your USB charger in the wall of every booth. The music is loud in a good way, there are multiple TV screens of videos of cars going off roading. Wow what an extensive menu. We came on a Sunday morning and there was breakfast and lunch items. The chicken and waffles were ordered by 2 members of our party and the dipping sauce was so good, they asked for more. The French toast with fruit was fluffy and had a dollop of whipped creme on top. My blue cheese mushroom Berger came with a huge steak knife stabbed right through the bun into the meat and served to hold the bun together with the meat. We had a great waitress who took care of us. Ive been here multiple times now as it is so close to my home. At first I was a little intimidated as it gets crowded in the morning, many people are regulars and they are PASSIONATE about their love. Tables are filled up almost IMMEDIATELY it is insane. The service is slightly questionable I will say. If you want smiles and giggles and conversations this is definitely not the place. The barista and the waitresses are diligent and will make sure you are well served but they most certainly will NOT have a smile on their faces about it. Every time I've been here I've seen the same group of waitresses and same barista and each time they look stressed and overwhelmed but hey, can I really complain? I've never had to wait long to be served, the food is incredible, and the coffee is to die for. So this gets no complaints from me, they get the job done and well. The food is amazing. If you love American breakfast foods PLEASE check this place out. The country benedict is insanely delicious with the sausage gravy having these chunky sausage pieces that melt in your mouth and add little bursts of salt. The biscuit they everything over is always somehow so flaky and crispy despite being smothered in sauce. The poached eggs are always perfect, bursting when I use my fork making my mouth water. My boyfriend has recently been getting the loaded potatoes and oh. my. god. When I say you will be shocked, you will be shocked. Get the eggs scrambled and it's a gooey melt in your mouth dish with perfect potatoes and sausage. The steak and eggs is also a wonderful classic I get when I want to switch up from how HEAVY the country Benedict is. Be aware as well, the portions here are hefty! I am someone who enjoys sweet coffee, you won't ever catch me with just black. The iced white mocha latte is a delightful sweet morning pick me up. Not too sweet, I can still taste the coffee but there is no acidity or sourness which is my worst coffee pet peeve. Nice spot for breakfast on a Sunday! Plenty of street parking in Old Torrance. There was a bit of a wait but not too bad. There also happened to be street vendors out so we walked around a little bit before we got the text that our table would be ready.
