The best shoe repair in the neighborhood. I had a pair of leather booties I love but the heels were destroyed. I got them 5-7 years ago so I couldn't buy a new pair because they don't sell them anymore, I figured they were already pretty banged up I might as well send them to a shoe repair and see what happens. WOW! North 11 made the boots good as new. Completely replaced the heels (honestly looked better than when I first bought them) and even shined the leather for me! $70 for new heels and a shoe shine?! Sign me up. I have a few more pairs of shoes I will definitely be bringing here to get a spruce up. read more

Very disappointing repair of my Birkenstock Arizona Soft Footbed sandals I brought my Birkenstock Arizona Soft Footbed sandals to North 11th Shoe Repair for a repair. Before the work was done, I specifically explained to the cobbler what needed to be repaired and what I expected. Unfortunately, the repair was not done properly, and after only about two weeks of normal use, the sandals started coming apart again. When I initially picked up the sandals, I noticed that the rubber had not been properly sanded and was uneven/off-level. I pointed this out to the person at the shop, but I was told that it was fine. I had to show an image of what the finished repair should actually look like before they acknowledged the problem and corrected that part of the repair. Unfortunately, the problems did not stop there. After only about two weeks of use, the glue is now coming off on both sandals, and the repair is once again failing. For an $85 repair, I expected much better workmanship and durability. I had seen several negative reviews about this shop before bringing my sandals there, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and judge the shop based on my own experience. Unfortunately, my experience ended up confirming many of the concerns I had read. In my experience, the workmanship was not what I expected from a professional cobbler, particularly when working on Birkenstock/German-made footwear. I specifically explained what needed to be done, yet the repair was still not completed correctly. I am sharing this review because I would not want someone else to spend $85 on a repair only to have the same problems return shortly afterward. If you have expensive or specialty footwear, especially Birkenstock sandals, I strongly recommend finding a cobbler who has demonstrated specific experience repairing this type of footwear. Never bring any luxury or any other branded items to this store. There is no transparency on prices or on how they do business. I came into this store based on reviews and wanted to do a pretty much a full restoration on a small crossbody vintage Dior bag which included replacing the interior leather, strap adjustment and full cleaning of the entire bag. The gentleman in the front kindly verbally quoted me $320. But when I had ask him to write it down on a paper (because I haven't made the decision yet), he wrote $330. That was my first red flag but I chose to ignore it because it's only $10. I came back in for the second time ready to commit, he pulled up my account and said he previous quoted me $380. I told him no, you quoted me low $300. After negotiating, he was able to take in my bag for all my repairs for $300. Right before I left, I specifically asked him if they were going to replace the exterior lining (the part that holds the bag together). He said no and I was ok with that. Literally the next day, he calls me and says they have to charge me $600 to do the job and now they have to replace the exterior lining. Which completely boggles my mind because why didn't you tell me this the day I paid and when I asked? It didn't make sense to me on how is the exterior lining is $300 more when it's $300 itself for interior leather replacement, adding strap adjustments, AND full deep cleaning. How is it $300 for minimal material and for it to get stitched? I also asked how much it'll be to do the strap adjustment over the phone (literally adding a clip on my bag for my chain strap) & cleaning - he said it'll cost $200 for those two jobs. That's averaging $100 just to add 2 rings to a bag... It didn't sit right with me. I asked him to give me the full breakdown of their prices per job and he wasn't able to. He said it was all in the computer but refused to show me how much I would be paying PER JOB. I will never be coming back here again and am extremely disappointed with this type of customer service they provide. If you are the owner of this store and read my post, please go back to camera footage and you will see and hear him tell me inconsistent prices for the last few visits I was there. I don't normally write Yelp reviews but this situation was too outrageous to stay silent. Thank you for wasting my time coming back and forth here. If the gentleman was unsure of the answer to my question the first time around, don't let me pay until he knows for sure. They cut a $300 designer belt way too short. I showed one of the employees the belt on my waist and told him the exact length I wanted it. He then asked for the belt without marking anything. I was hesitant so I insisted that he view it again and really take a look at it. I repeated the measurement request. He did the same thing. I mentioned something to the older gentleman behind the register when I was giving them my information. He smiled and nodded. I figured I had spoken up enough for them to take the time to get it right. I just thought the guy who measured me was exceptional with eyeballing. Well, he wasn't. The belt is 3" too short and ruined. I'll try to sell it online for a fraction of what I paid. The folks there are friendly and efficient, and for $40, completely replaced the sole and heel of my favorite boots. I've been to multiple cobblers to have winter boots and other shoes repaired since moving to NY and they're absolutely done the best job. I've often left places with my shoe repairs looking bootleg as hell, with it being obvious they had some jacked up "work" done to them. Here, you'll leave with your shoes looking like new and ready to withstand a new season of wear. I've brought boots, flats, and a purse here. All we're about ready to get tossed but look pretty much brand new after their repairs. It's pretty incredible. The repair is done quickly but be forewarned the cost is not cheap. You'll leave having paid a fair amount. You certainly get what you pay for with shoe repair though, so it's well worth it. read more

My first experience at the shop and I couldn't be happier I brought in my GG belt to have 2 holes put in. Within 20 seconds the man behind the counter (I wish I had gotten his name) had put them in and handed the belt back to me. He went back to his other business. After reading so many great reviews I had to try them out, plus they were blocks from my old office space. They repaired my first pair of boots for $60, which I thought was a little steep for a retread and reglue of the one flapping heel, but the guy was so beyond friendly and nice that I didn't mind. They were done in maybe 2-3 days, shined to perfection. I photographed my second pair before I brought them in and he quoted me only $40 for what seemed like much more work than my first pair: a retread, unglue/reglue, replacement hooks, sewing of a split seam at the heel, and a patch over the toe from where the leather had gone paper thin. He suggested a reinforcement of the leather over both toes and I agreed. Paid for half up front as before and dropped them off Monday, he said they'd be done Friday. When I picked them up today they were absolutely gleaming, looked better than when I bought them fifteen years ago. I think he conditioned the leather too, they're much softer than they were before. They do an absolutely fantastic job here. It's a shame I don't work in the neighborhood anymore but they're so good at repairs that I'll continue to travel 90 minutes one way to get this level of service and professionalism. READ MY REVIEW!! So I have a pair of black Hathorn Explorer work boots that I actually got for free. If you Google them and find the worst looking, most beat up pair, that's what mine looked like. I took them into this place to get new half-soles, as well as getting them condited. I came back and they had conditioned them, but they also painted the whole boot black, over-modified... I told the guy I didn't like it, that the color was all of since he said he wouldn't touch the stitching, so he offered to fix them.. Long story "short", it took a few days (about 4 days to be exact) I came in three times.. now, I'd usually be pretty pissed.. since I was paying $105 to get my boots fixed and they messed up my order, rather badly etc.. however, they ended up basically taking the boots completely apart, conditioning them, putting in new soles, half-soles, heels AND re-sizing them a bit (extra request) for what I was going to pay. The only reason I gave them four stars is because they messed up the order pretty badly. Also, the left boot was re-stitched a little too tight around the pinky area. You can see the difference in shape between the two boots. That being said, I didn't really want to bother any more with them, but I have also taken LOTS of footwear to them in the past, with absolutely no problems at all.. So the four stars is mainly for the effort the little Brazilian dude put into fixing their mistake. They did a good job fixing these boots considering I'm going to beat the living crap out of, and stretch them out anyways. Plus like I said, I've brought footwear here before with absolutely zero problems whatsoever. GJDM =) read more

I had been bringing my shoes here for years. The last time I went, the price of resoling my boots had gone up $25.00. I had always been very pleased with the work I had done, so I paid the extra amount. The material they used was a spongey, soft plastic. Any small bit of garbage or pebble I walked over got embedded in bottom of my boots. After 2 weeks, the soles had also flattened and were uneven. When I brought them back to show them, the owner wanted to charge me the full $75.00 to replace the spongey soles with the harder plastic he had always used before.
