The food was great, but I was sad to see that eggs benedict only makes an appearance on the weekend. Sad :( The service was a bit slow, but so friendly that I don't really care...but if you are in a hurry, maybe let them know. The variety of omelets was great, and everything comes with home fries which were some fo the best ones I have had lately. Good but definitely not great. All I can say about the food is that is okay, well may be a bit more than that, but I've eaten way better diners. The staff is looking tired, they are not lazy or unprofessional but I think because they have been working for many hours they were a bit inadequate. When I got there the place was not even half full, but I waited for my food considerably more time than I've supposed to or expecting to. That's why in a result I am a bit more critic to the food. I hate to wait. Price wise is also not every expensive, but for the service I received I would say that is even a bit overpriced. Sorry about that. But that's the way I feel. And one other thing, the parking thing is an issue and with a big pick up truck is something that is definitely not pleasant. read more

Pleasantly surprised! I am coming from Boston with family on the north shore so I stopped in this morning to order a Veggie Supreme omelette with a side of hash. I tend to judge diners by their hash as it is such an indulgent treat for me and this corned beef hash rocked! Omelette was super tasty with a pleasant veggie to omelette ratio. We went here on Fathers Day for breakfast, and this was our first time at North Ave Diner. My wife had the breakfast burrito, my daughter had pancakes, and I had the "meat lovers omelette". All of the food was really excellent. We only waited about 10 minutes to get in, but it was a Sunday and most diners are always lined up so you just wait and hope the food is good. Our server was working both the counter and the dining room, and could have used some help. Other than that small complaint, we will return to North Ave Diner in the future. read more

My friend and I decided to try North Ave. diner for the first time this weekend. We both live right down the street, and have never tried it before, as the line is usually way too long to wait; however, we went around noon when it wasn't as busy as it typically is on a Saturday morning. The girl who brought us to our table could have been a little friendlier and maybe smiled at us or something, but she wasn't rude, per say. Our waitress came to the table promptly and was adorable and friendly. The menu was big with a lot to choose from - I got the eggs benedict and my girlfriend got french toast and eggs with bacon. Everything came out fast and was delicious! Our waitress refilled my coffee without even having to be asked. Our bill was brought out in a timely manner, and the payment was processed fast. After our great experience, I think going forward I'd be willing to wait the extra few minutes to eat here. read more

Great spot for Breakfast. Good Service as well. It can be pretty busy in spurts on weekends, then it will clear out in the same phases. The place feels like it's run by a family, all of the ladies were cheerful, and the service was consistently attentive and above the normal diner standards. I love when I get a large cup of water with Ice and it's refilled often. My first visit I had way too much coffee because I couldn't say no when they kept asking me if I wanted a "freshed up', my 2nd visit I knew to ask for Decaf.. yeah coffee makes me weird(er) The food: I had the Breakfast Burrito with Sausage one day at the counter, the next day I had the Crab Cake Benedict with my my son, who had the Lumberjack/Hungry man, Eggs Pancakes,Bacon and Sausage, except I took all the sausage. His scrambled eggs were fluffy AF. I like this place. Being a picky eater, I almost always have at least one special request ("please make sure that yolk isn't runny", "no lettuce/tomato/onion", "super-crispy bacon, please"), and they're good at getting them right. The waitstaff is hit and miss. I've had very good service on many occasions, and a couple of times when it could have been better (but no flat-out disasters). Tonight, our waitress' shift ended while we were there, and it took quite a while (and us eventually flagging another waitress down) for a replacement to see to us. They're friendly, though. One of the draws of this place for me is the location, right across from the Wakefield train stop. If you sit at the window, you get a great view of the trains as they come and go. The penalty for this is having to listen to the inane ramblings of the regulars, who are usually older men who will talk to whoever's nearby, whether that person is interested or not. It's probably also me in about 10-15 years. For breakfast, I recommend the Wakefield Classic (French toast, 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links, with homefries at an extra charge). read more

Enjoyed this restaurant very much. Mom and I stopped in for a casual lunch and it was an unexpected treat. This might have been the worst experience I've had at a diner. Not only did our waitress lose our order and we waited about 45 minutes for our food, the first thing I notice is a piece of metal in my food. I brought the food to my waitresses attention and she brought it back to the kitchen. The manager looked at the plate and took the meal off of the bill. Her response was "it's a piece of the scouring pad to clean the grill it happens." The bill was still $15...absolutely ridiculous. read more

Breakfast is food; typical diner food and experience. I don't care for lunch or dinner but have always enjoyed breakfast.

For an inexpensive, fast breakfast diner it is hard to beat this local fav. Now if they only could do something about the parking...oh well foodies must suffer some we guess. Our usual fare of 2 over easy, home fires, bacon and hash were much too our liking. If there was any negative it would be the home fries....although very fresh they could use a little more flavor. Bacon and hash perfect..crispy without being over cooked as many are! we see that some comment on the waitstaff..we thought our waitress was friendly and very efficient however a little more coffee later in the meal would have been appreciated. It's great to have plenty of java while waiting for your food but it is also great to have plenty of jo to wash down what for us was a pleasant breakfast experience. I went here recently for linner. They claim to be number 1 in this town for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. What a hoax! Their other food is just as bad as their breakfast. This place does not serve individual slices of pizza. Instead, I got a roast beef sandwhich to see if it stacks up to the other great roast beef in the town. It does not. The regular roast beef sandwhich was about 6.00. I thought this was little high since it was not a superbeef. You do not have the option of an onion roll, but only sesame seed or a regular bun. The roast beef was a little dry and absolutely flavorless. I really had to salt it up to get some flavor. Their potato cheaps taste like cheap Wise potato chips. Just because the inside is refurnished and there is a picture of larry bird and another picture of bobby oar on the wall does not make this the best restaurant/diner in town. However, atleast the waitress was very nice. Everything else is substandard. Trust me, this place only does business on weekend mornings. I don't care who gave them the award. Went here for Father's day and waited 20-25 minutes before being seated. After being seated, it took the waitress another hour before taking my order, after serving our drinks. The table to the right and left put in their orders 5 minutes before us, and got their food fairly quick. After, a half hour wait, our French toast with a side of ham and Egg's Benedict didn't come out. Asked the server if we can take it to go instead because of time constraints, she rudely said the food isn't ready. Meanwhile the table to the left and right of us are finishing up their meals. Informed her of the situation and she ignored us. Decided to leave the restaurant, and informed the waitress we can no longer wait. Asked her to cancel our orders. She stated, you have to pay for the food you ordered. I got up and left a $10 bill to pay for the coffee and orange juice because I couldn't wait any longer. She chased me outside and threatened to call the police for leaving without paying for food I never received. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. Stopped in on a weekday for breakfast and was seated quickly. Ordered an omlet with ham. When it arrived there was no cheese. Upon asking our server, we were informed that cheese is an extra charge. The place isn't extravagant, but it's a diner people! Their French toast is to die for, my husband loves their club sandwiches. My next favorite is their eggs benne, which unfortunately is a weekend only meal. We try to go on Saturdays because they only serve breakfast on Sunday (husband isn't a huge breakfast person). Can't beat the prices either. Service isn't anything special, but no complaints either. We've tried other diners in the area and we keep coming back to North Ave, even if it is 2 towns away. read more
