Nice restaurant seating for a deli, but sandwiches were poor value and not great. Ordered deli sandwiches and requested all fixings that aren't spicy. Here's what I got for my $16/each sandwiches with no sides: Roast beef got mustard put on. Nothing else. Meet was brown (overcooked with no flavor). Turkey sandwich got lettuce, tomato, and bacon. Turkey was dry. So... definitely not all the fixings. BLT was good but tiny with as little bacon as the turkey sandwich topping. I won't visit again. It was disappointing. read more

First time back after change of management. Super sad to see the old crew gone. They were an iconic group and made each ordering experience memorable. New Crew: super friendly however they STRUGGLE to work the line orders- kinda important for this type of restaurant. You'd think after a year they would get it down but I went with my two kids and by the time all the food was ready and we paid my omelette was ice cold. I Want this place to succeed. My wife and I go there quite a bit. We always love their breakfast. Also the young girls that work there are very polite and they will carry your tray with your food and coffee to your seat. OK I want to start off with the positive. The guy on the line was super nice and intelligent as they yell out the orders to the chefs to all try to remember who was first in line. This is a cafeteria style restaurant. You walk in and grab a tray and be prepared to order your foo and await for it. Unfortunately as I waited for my food I couldn't help but be stared down with the visual of a mouse trap right underneath the grill that was cooking my pancakes, and others eggs. On top if it they charged an astronomical amount for avocado toast that is just a container of guac not fresh avocado and spread with a crap ton of white onion and tomato. The pancake was a bit dry and just not tasteful. The space is definitely spacious for big groups but it has a stale stench to it I couldn't get over. Has WCAT a local catholic TV showing and an outdated bar that the loners can sit at but it's bare and sad looking.\ Lucky if you find parking in the front on the main street, maybe they have more in the back. But because of the mouse trap and smell and medicore food it's a no for me dog. read more

Brothers recently catered breakfast for our large group two days in a row and the food was delicious. I worked closely with the deli leading up to it figuring out what kind of food we wanted and the pricing per person. We placed an order for what they call a complete breakfast the first day and boy were we shocked with the amount of food that arrived. Everything was hot, fresh, and they even let us borrow hot trays and racks. The next day we had bagel sandwiches and hash browns which were so good. Everyone was so please with the breakfast, the service, pricing and their signature corn bread (we ended up eating for dinner). Highly recommend this deli! Great deli style/diner food, great prices. I've been to Brother's Deli a number of times. I keep coming back. The food is excellent - it's not haut cuisine but for diner or deli food, it's top notch. Breakfast is great here. I typically order the corned beef hash and eggs. The hash is delicious every time. For lunch, you can't go wrong on Friday with the meatloaf special. I have to say that the meatloaf blew me away the first time that I had it. It's got some magical ingredient and I can't stop eating it. The flavors are savory and well balanced. Trust me on this one. The only problem with the meatloaf is that the portion is huge! Ok, so it's not really a problem because you'll have leftovers. I brought it home and had enough for a meatloaf sandwich the next day. Brother's Deli has been there for decades and it's still crowded with people, especially on the weekends for breakfast. Pro tip: get there early. I had a very good lunch on Wednesday at the Brothers Deli. It was my 1st time and it was recamended by a coworker. I found free off street parking behind the restaurant which was great as the street spots were all full. It took me a while to get my bearings and to peruse the huge menu. So many choices! I settled for a pastrami sandwich on dark rye, a small bowl of their Greek lemon and egg soup and a medium iced tea. $14 and some change. They charged .50 for a slice of Swiss cheese. A bonus was the huge half sour pickle that came with the sandwich. Everything tasted good and fresh and I would like to return to try more items. read more

First time since the ownership change. The owners are super nice and I'm sure it's so hard taking over such an established, successful business and expecting same results. There were a few key things missing thought...In the past the guys would take your order and make it and multiple orders would be going at once. This time, under new owners, it's one at a time. Very slow and have to repeat multiple times. It was absolutely dead in there on a weekend which I've never seen in 35 years. Maybe the same set up where you go up and order doesn't suit the times now or maybe the new owners haven't gotten the hang of it yet? I'm not sure. The quality of food was ok. The home fries were definitely frozen to thawed and even the toast tastes like it sat for a while. On my trips to Boston, I usually end them with a breakfast run at one of the local Brothers Deli locations with a group of my friends before we hit the road. They never let me down. On this trip, I went for the Locanico omelet (Greek sausage), with home fries, a side of bacon, and a bagel with butter. It's nice to try a different kind of sausage for once that I never had before, and I had no issues with polishing it off. The wife polished off her breakfast, and then started tearing into the chocolate chip muffin that was supposed to be for the road. Well, I joined in, and that muffin never stood a chance between us. Excellent muffin that was fresh and moist. Any downside? Well, the coffee wasn't great. But it's a diner atmosphere. What do you expect, Starbucks? Even with coffee that isn't great, getting refills doesn't appear to be an option due to the service setup. It's the only drawback. The guys behind the counter are incredibly efficient at making your order. You can tell they are experienced. The whole group we ate with were all satisfied. Food was good but getting it was extremely slow. The workers were very disorganized and very slow working. We ordered small salads but were charged for a large salad. When this was brought to the attention of the cashier, she said that the price board was incorrect and that there was only one price of the salad-the larger price. Very odd. Why write 2 prices if they charge for the higher price only. And $10 for a very small salad seems way overpriced. Part of our order was not ready and the cook said he would bring it to our table. 15 minutes later we had to ask where the food was. He had forgotten. So, service was very poor. Pricing unreliable. Cooks seemed very scattered and confused. Not like the previous owners at all. Maybe after much more time they'll get the hang of it. read more

This is a place that both my parents love - in fact, before my mother passed, every time we went out to eat she insisted on Brother's because the food was that comforting and made her feel better. My father is very picky but loves coming here. I love the selection of good, quality meals at really great prices. My two favorites are corned beef and the turkey dinner. Sides rotate but they do have a big selection. I recently tried a yummy spinach rice side and I've never been a spinach person. This place is nothing fancy, but definitely a healthy, quick place to grab lunch. It is more spacious than I pictured and plenty of tables to sit down at. The menu is pretty basic (sandwiches, salads, etc) and you can customize anything. I ordered a chicken kabob salad and did not expect the chicken to be cooked right then! It was very flavorful and fresh. I wish I had the option to pick what I wanted in my salad or ask for a different dressing, because the one I got was swimming in oil. Other than that, the portion was great and it also comes with pita bread. The staff was not the nicest and a bit rude, but I didn't have high expectations anyway. Family-owned Brothers Deli opened over thirty years ago in downtown Wakefield and has been a staple ever since. Cafeteria style lunch line is what your greeted with when you come in and an overhead menu that goes on forever. The man behind it all works everyday and skips the tradition POS system for good old fashioned memory-you tell him your order and he goes to work on it immediately, shouting directions to his staff. It's really a sight to see. At the end of the row is the friendly cashier and then you take your meal to the recently renovated dining room containing modern booths and tables with murals of 1600's era Wakefield on the walls. Also on the walls are flat screens usually tuned to the news or ESPN. The food is the other attraction here featuring a huge variety of breakfast foods (eggs, sausage, many flavors of pancakes, home fries, bacon, French toast, corned beef hash, donuts, muffins, etc) and for lunch/dinner a mix of traditional Greek, American and Italian fare such as a roast beef, lasagna, meatballs, fish, and lamb. What it lacks in decorum it more than makes up for in charm. What makes this place special is that it seems to be caught in time. The food they serve is homestyle hearty meals, sandwiches and salads. Basically anything you can think of that's craveable and makes you feel warm and full is on their menu. The staff are always warm and friendly. The best corned beef hash I had while in town! Eggs were cooked just right too. Everything was perfect. My only complaint is the abundance of choices. I went in for breakfast and was almost seduced by several other lunch items. Definitely a place you can visit often before running tired of the menu. We went for breakfast a 2 weekends ago and its usually good but this time the breakfast potatoes were all black and people who left plate on table did not eat these black potatoes either ..I asked the cook why they were like that he said they were shipped to us like that when we cooked them they all turned black..I dont understand why they would allow these to be served..I dont think we will go back again .they didnt even discount the 2 breakfasts we bought. So I was near this place and it popped up on Yelp I saw the reviews so I decided to come drive out to check it out. There is parking on the street you might have to look for some but there's plenty of parking for free. So walking into this place got a great Vibe old school field and it's very big, you go straight to the counter order on the grill what you want and wait or walk up to the cashier and it will bring it to your table. Everything on the Hopleaf look delicious and the cook was very friendly and personable, I will have to come back and try more options but I'm very satisfied with what I got and the service.
