I have a 01 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider with electrical problems. I have been hesitant taking the car to an electrical auto dealer and auto place service. I called several places and either they needed to schedule me on their time or were not very customer friendly, or started talking technical terms that I couldn't understand. I read Yelps 5 star rating, had a Mitsubishi auto parts recommend North County Auto Service and decided to take my car in. I spoke to the mechanic briefly and he explained in lay language what may be some of the possibilities. Mike called with the diagnostics and explained clearly what was wrong with the car. They've been reasonably priced and honest about what needs to be fixed right away vs what can wait and haven't pressured us into doing everything right away. This last time I took the car in, they didn't find anything of concern (I was just bringing it in to make sure it was good to go) and they waived the inspection fee and sent me on my way. It's hard to find a shop that you trust. I found this place on yelp and gave it a shot. Mike the owner, took my truck in the day before I went on deployment and battled the warrant company every day for two months to approve the claim. This shops work is above standard and they even went above and beyond by trying to determine what cause to my trucks problems were by measuring the alignment of the frame. I have brought my 2004 Honda Odyssey to North County Auto for 3 different repairs or services and I have nothing but positive things to say. Timely, trustworthy and honest. My first repair was for the A/C- completely stopped working. Mike and his team correctly identified the issue and my A/C has worked like new for years now. 2nd was my 100k service and timing belt replacement- everything was run by me upfront, no surprises and no unnecessary repairs. 3rd repair I brought the van in because it was just not sounding right when I started it. ITS A SCAM ! THE WORST PLACE TO GET STUFF DONE. MY EXPERIENCE IS BELOW. IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS I am a college student and I got my car towed at the mechanic. They did a diagnosis(55$) and they told me that the expenses would cost 400$. I told them that I can get the parts, and they started to argue a lot. After I gave them the parts they said they would work on it. The next day I get a call saying that they put the parts up and the car is still not working, and that I would have to pay 95$ for another diagnosis and then go from there. The next day I go to the garage at 7 am. What I see is THE PARTS ARE IN A PLASTIC WRAP ( The one you have to tear to get the part) when I confronted them they told me "Ohhhh ummm you never said anything about the car not starting..." and in my mind I was like "are you that dumb to not figure out that the car didn't start because the parts were not in..? They alerted me to another problem with my car, a wear item, and suggested replacement. They stayed a few minutes late to meet me. I went through North County Auto Service to get my car fix and they were AMAZING!! Part of my engine broke and I went through them to get it handled! Luckily they had my previous engine under warranty so it was easy and cheap to replace! I had Rex help me with all my needs! I was able to get my car back in about a week, which all other places said it would be much longer! Now I have my car back and its running better than ever! They actually were able to give me a better engine than I had before! I am a stay at home mother so having a reliable car to transport my son and I is extremely important! My jeep patriot had all the lights on out of nowhere. I drove it all the way from salt lake to california with them on because it didn't seem like it was causing any issues. Before I drove home my father in law recommended to go hand mike take a look at it. Not only did they get it done in a right time frame they figured out the issue when no one else would've. The had to trace the wiring to the driver side wiring plate and found all the wiring corroded. It was fairly expensive but cheaper than anywhere else for the time spent. read more

This place is awesome! I cannot say one bad thing about it. Have been here a few times. My starter went bad and I brought it here to have it replaced. A couple months later the brand of starter they had put in had fallen apart in my engine. This place happily took my vehicle back in and replaced it/fixed it for free. I found this Auto Service on Yelp. It was my first time at this service shop. My vehicle needed 100K service and inspection. Service Manager Rex went over my requested service with me and let me know what to expect in terms of price and time. My vehicle was inspected and I was told right away of the service needed. I authorized the suggested services. In short time, my vehicle was ready to go home. They completed the service with a csr wash and vacuuming of the interior. I recently took my 535i BMW here for brakes. The service was amazing. I brought my car in around 10am and was able to pick it up the next day with no hiccups and an unexpected car wash which was awesome! North County Auto Service has fair pricing, competent mechanics and a respectful owner that truly cares about taking care of his customers and their vehicles. I've been going to North County Auto Service for around 18-20 years and have had 4 vehicles serviced and/or repaired. Mike only uses quality parts that he would put in his own vehicles and won't put an inferior part in your car just for the sake of a repair/$$. Not once have I had to return because of a bad repair, misdiagnosis or an incompetent lazy mechanic. The owner/supervisor Mike runs a tight ship and hires only top quality mechanics that you/he can trust. If a half assed mechanic slips through the crack he'll weed them out. Sure, things don't always go as planned when dealing with automobile repairs but I know that if that ever happens Mike and crew will make it right no matter what. What more can I say? I had my brakes done here a few weeks ago. I was completely blown away with the service I received. I chose North County Auto Service because the reviews were great. I was worried that who ever I took my car to would treat me differently because I'm a woman. They were great. They realize that there was a problem with my steering wheel. Instead of just telling me to get it looked at or offering to fix it for $400, they looked into the problem, called my dealership and found out it was still covered under my warranty. They even printed out all the info for me to take to the dealership to get it fixed. The part and laybor would have costed me $400. That kind of service and trust is a rare find these days. They were all so friendly and professional too. I have found my mechanics for life and will sing their praise to everyone I can. read more

Last year, I got my brake pads and rotors changed at Pep Boys and they were horrible - squeaked the entire time I had them and after returning 3+ times, was told by their technicians nothing was wrong. In less than 20K miles, I already started to hear grinding, so I decided it was time to buy some better quality pads. Rex explained that Pep Boys uses after market brakes that didn't fit my 2010 Nissan Altima properly. He said he only recommends Posi Quiet brake pads because they last 30-40K miles, are silent, and come with a lifetime warranty! I brought my car in the next morning (Dec 23rd) and it went right in at 8am. He called me 30 minutes later with the full brake inspection report and his recommendation to only replace the pads because the rotors were in good shape. At 11am, only 3 hours after I dropped it off, my car was ready for pick up! I was not able to pick my car up until the afternoon so they had a section just outside their gate for it to be parked until I could come get it. All in all, fantastic and speedy service with friendly employees. I will definitely be returning to North County Auto Service for my future car-related needs (and next time I need to get my pads replaced with that warranty ) read more
