Initially visited North County Mobile Electronics to get some information about getting a dashcam on a new vehicle. The gentleman working there, I believe his name is Frank, provided all the details on the different dashcams they offered and what the total costs would be for installation. They also offer installation on dashcams you provide. I decided to go with the brand they offered because I figured they weren't going to offer and/or stand behind a junk one (fingers crossed). Plus I had no clue what to look for in one myself. I set up an appointment for the following week to have it installed. He gave me an estimated timeline on how long installation would take since I was leaving my vehicle there, and he met that estimated timeline. The dashcam has both front and rear cameras and they hid the wires/cables well. So far, I'm very pleased with the dashcam and the features it includes. I will definitely use North County Mobile Electronics again in the future if I need anything else installed and will recommend them to others without hesitation. read more

Great job installing my Viofo A229 Plus two-channel dashcam with the HK4 parking mode kit on my Camry Hybrid. Got an appointment within a couple days, and the install was done in under an hour while I waited, at the exact price quoted. Frank is a good guy, and the installer did a great job. Placement was clearly done by someone who knows what they're doing, tucked behind the rearview mirror and not interfering with the rear defroster. All wiring is hidden and looks very clean. I will start off by saying I am a picky customer when it comes to audio. I am a professional sound engineer and I'm used to mixing on some of the best and baddest PAs in the world. Although I know studio and live pro audio like the back of my hand, car audio is a different world and I studied up on system builds and parts before getting quotes and build recommendations. I love my Jeep but hated the whimpy sound system. I searched around and met with several shops before pulling the trigger on working with Frank and his team at NCME. Frank took his time with me and helped me pick all the right components, source parts during supply chain issues and made sure I was a happy customer. When we realized some components wouldn't work, Frank helped me find alternatives that I ended up being even happier with in the end. His crew (Billy in particular) not only did a super clean install, but went the extra mile in cleaning up all the previous work done on lighting customizations. On top of that, this shop and ownership was always looking out for my budget and were always upfront and honest about costs. If we hit a snag, I always felt like they were going out of their way to do right by the customer (me!). My wrangler sound is absolutely stunning, balanced and powerful. The stinger controller looks amazing and has all the options I could need. I love electronics and I love my car; Frank and his guys updated my baby so there's more to love... I always said, "The only thing missing from this car is a backup camera," and now she has one. Not only that, but there's more light using the camera than when I look in the mirrors. I also went from factory AM/FM radio with CD player (aux port) to USB-connected system that syncs with my phone, and it's so easy to use! I give it commands all day... It reads new messages to me (when I want it to), then asks if I want to reply and reads my replies before getting final approval to send. I had a new Hyundai in 2015 with a factory system that did all of this, but it didn't understand my voice very well and telling it to make calls led to complications; the system I have now has done everything I've asked without issues. The big screen is beautiful with the background photo I chose for it, and the map/navigation is great. I love telling the car to take me somewhere without having to pick up the phone. My vehicle is a 2016 Nissan GT-R (value 100K+). I share this not to brag but rather to share the full trust I had in this awesome shop. Background...I wanted to bring the vehicle current technology wise. I had purchased a Nifty City Tesla screen. Upon installing it I could not get any sound. Nifty City tech support let me know that it wouldn't work with the CAN of the vehicle. I was determined to figure it out. I called 4 different shops, the 4th being NCME. Even before I mentioned my issues, Frank had already shared with me the expected issues. After sharing the expected issues he then gave me ways to solve each issue over the phone. Right there, giving me sound advice without even knowing me or seeing the vehicle. So, I packed up leaving immediately to his shop. He and Billie spent 1.5 hours trying a few things to get the sound to work. No luck. He didn't charge me a cent, even after taking it all apart and working on the vehicle. If you know business, that equates to 3 hours of time that he invested. We discussed the best course of action. We settled on a plan. I went home and was to come back the following week. I dropped off the vehicle and left it for 3 days. They sound proofed the vehicle, installed new aftermarket equipment, installed a new steering wheel I planned to install, and got the new head unit working. The sound is freakin clear and thumps. It is awesome! The work is SO clean and everything works even better than I imagined. They also do not gouge you with their prices or try to sell you stuff you just don't need. Very reasonable, but more importantly they are worth it. Good people, great work, and actually care about their customers. It was totally dead there There were two guys there bored and saw me coming. They quoted me $240, then the guy reduced it to $140. It was really a one man job and taking less than 30 min. RATING: ***** 5 STARS Briefly, NCME previously did an excellent install of two Kicker 6 1/2" speakers. Today, they installed a Pioneer DEH-S1200UB headset and the proper size wedge Kicker 48TCWRT82 - 8" subwoofer/passive radiator which they had in stock. They charged the same $216 price for the sub as Crutchfield. They hooked the subwoofer up to my Lightening 250W amp and the headset to my Clarion 200W amp. $150 for one hour labor was very fair. Total about $384 out the door. I had bought the Pioneer headset from Crutchfield, but Crutchfield gave me TWO wrong recommendations for a subwoofer for behind the seat of my Nissan pickup! Here is a review of NCME, Crutchfield and JVC: Audio life story of my 1991 D21: Recently, I wanted to get a CD player with a physical hand held remote. It turned out it was now only available from Pioneer model DEH-S1200UB. I ordered it from Crutchfield as soon as I saw they had it in stock. This head unit got pretty good reviews. I was amused that several people complained it did not have bluetooth. Nobody said it did. If you want bluetooth, buy a stereo with bluetooth. Why complain? This would be the third headset for my 1991 D21. The OEM was replaced with a Kenwood cassette deck and a CD player, 2 amps and a Polk 10" ported subwoofer. When that Kenwood went bad, I had a JVC unit installed by a shop on Clairemont Mesa Blvd with Sony speakers that were never attached well. This shop kept the keys for the head unit because they "didn't want the customers to interfere with the installation." Eventually, I wanted to remove the JVC unit to check it out before I replaced it. I had to order the keys from the JVC Accessory store who charged $15 for 2 keys and $10 S&H. No more JVC for me. The loose Sony speakers went bad and were replaced by NCME with a much sturdier pair of Kicker 6 1/2" round speakers. These were very firmly attached - much better than the Sony's. I removed the JVC head unit when it finally died. When NCME went to install the Pioneer unit today, they saw that the wiring after three installs was old and pretty messy. I knew the JVC worked the last time everything was connected. The owner Frank was surprised that the Pioneer unit fired up right away. I wanted to get a sealed subwoofer that was smaller than the Polk 10" ported monster. That sub was so big and heavy it probably cut down on my gas mileage. Crutchfield recommended a Kenwood Excelon P-XW1002B -10" sub for $225 or a Kicker 48CDF104 -10" sub for $150. Both of these were the wrong size and shape for behind the seat of a small pickup! NCME hooked the $216 Kicker subwoofer up to my Lightening 250W amp and the headset to my Clarion 200W amp. They firmly attached the sub with a bracket to the back of the cab. They properly charged me just one hour labor for $150 and the same price as Crutchfield for the sub. I had bought the Pioneer headset from Crutchfield, but they gave me TWO wrong recommendations for a subwoofer for behind the seat of my Nissan pickup! In summary, I am very happy with NCME compared to other shops in the past. I'm pretty shocked that Crutchfield recommended 2 wrong size subwoofers! They also sent a lot of extra parts which were not needed, at least at no extra charge. I gave the extra parts to Frank. I should have just taken my truck to NCME for them to select the subwoofer. There seemed to be so many to choose from and I wanted to read and learn a little more about them. I learned I wanted a sealed, enclosed, passive sub, not ported or powered. And passive subwoofers can be very cool for small size applications such as car audio. Read about them. That is what NCME put in. BTW, it sounds GRRREAT! Took our 1999 Eurovan here for an Apple style Car Play system and a back up camera. The owner Frank, was super helpful in letting me know what system was available to fit the car. They got the car in quickly and with no glitches, got it back to me by the end of their work day. Some of my plastic trim is aged and brittle and they successfully ran the wiring with no damages.
