I attempted to hire Twelve Volt Technologies to hardwire and install a dash cam for my Lexus 12 Volt does not actually speak with potential customers, like myself...but arranges for a email communication thread. I attempted this....and found that system failing....unable to ask pointed questions. Ultimately, 12 Volt just did not return my emailed questions. They installed the a radio for my wife's 2016 RAV 4 replacing the one that had become haunted and installed wiring in the dashcam camera in my 2023 Ford Maverick. Both jobs were done were well and carefully. The installations were clean and they listened to us as to how we wanted the job done. My Maverick has a has a rear window with an opening and they were able to route the rear camera wiring so the window opened without the wiring interfering. I am planning on using them to install a Ham Radio in the spring. read more

Having dealt with car stereo installation and service for many years on various cars I am very aware of all the excuses, stories, and drama from some installers. There was none of that from David. I found David (the owner of this business) by doing a Google search after I got bad vibes from my 1st choice... a brick-&-mortar installation shop. I'm extremely happy that I stumbled across him. I'm a very technical person, and had already scoped out and documented my 3 part RV Audio Replacement Project (Mercedes OEM to Kenwood Android Auto Navigation Receiver) the way I wanted, and purchased all my equipment from another source way before I found David. I just needed a competent installer to work with me on my project scope since the technicalities of this type of project work was beyond my personal experience. Not once did I feel that David was put off by a "know-it-all" customer! LOL I'm sure he would have preferred that I had purchased all my equipment through him instead of my other source, but it just didn't work out that way.... I have lived in San Diego since 2008. This was easily the best car experience I have had since I have lived here. My issue was, car stereo was not working at all. No power to the amp or stereo. I wanted to move the subwoofer/amp unit from my old car to the new one. And I came to Yelp with trepidation, looking for a trustworthy store to handle the removal from the old and installation in the new. My concern is that those car audio installation places are a gamble. Will your installer be a kid with little or no experience? Would someone do a hack job cosmetically? Or worse yet create the preconditions for a short circuit in my electrical system? Looking for a local operation, I came on 12 Volt Technologies. What's this? My first reaction was "Sure. I really want a nomadic installer working on my new car!" But my preconception of a fly-by-night operation dissolved pretty quickly when I started to read the reviews here. Glowing comments and 5-star reviews. The word "confidence" came into my mind more boldly as I read down the first set of reviews and then pressed on for more. The story everyone was telling was that they came to David looking for a solution to a specific set of requirements. And that he listened and made those things happen. David arrived ten minutes before our first appointment. I showed him the subwoofer/amp module and he told me that the car dealer who removed the unit from my old car didn't unplug the connector from the car stereo; they merely snipped the wire in a convenient location. Sure, I got the hardware back but David couldn't install the unit without either ordering the connector cable or fabricating his own. I apologized but he was not the least bit put out. He told me he'd check with the distributor and get back to me as soon as he knew which solution he'd adopt. And no charge for the visit-- which was supposed to have been a longer than typical appointment. A few days later he texted me to announce that the distributor had shipped the cable and he'd be back to me as soon as he had the tracking number. A couple days ago David came by with the connector cable and mounting parts. Again he arrived ten minutes early. Again a warm smile. He got to work and I am now enjoying subtle low bass augmenting the standard factory stereo system. I can't imagine that I might have driven my car up to a garage door in an industrial area and hoped for the best. I supplied most of the materials due to the non standard installation (transceiver behind rear seat, speaker, microphone, remote head unit, antenna). They did a fantastic job. It looks like a factory installation. They used seat covers to protect the interior during the installation. All cables were run in existing wire runs.
