I wish I could not even give then one star...why the hell do you make a book for scheduling and you can't even give someone the opportunity to get to the bus...if I arrive at the bus stop @1:51 and the time in the book says bus will be there @1:57. The Lift paid service is supposed to help the disabled and elderly be more mobile and independent. One must call to make an appointment, with a half hour window for possible tardiness. However, my daughter has been left to wait for over an hour in a public parking lot on more than one occasion. This negligence puts her, and any other disabled or elderly person who uses this PAID SERVICE, in possible danger. We paid in advance for ride tickets to get her to her college class, but their extreme tardiness makes her substantially late to class. The NCTD refuses to give us a refund on the unused tickets, and we will NOT ever use this worthless "service" again. read more

I'm giving therm 2 Stars because a couple of the drivers have become friends over the last year of using the Breeze and the Sprinter. Overall the company it self needs help. In the last year on my evening ride home from Oceanside approximately 25% of the drivers I've ridden with had trouble keeping to the printed schedule to allow me to meet the Sprinter that got me home at a reasonable hour. The other 75% did not have trouble maintaining their schedule, So what does NCTD do? Changes the schedule to allow these incompetents a "little" more time to do their jobs. Oh, and to make sure that there is no way any of us can make our Sprinter connections. I pick up the Sprinter at College Blvd. Station, the 325 drops us off at Avenida del Oro and Oceanside Blvd. we have to cross 6 lanes of traffic and a large parking lot to reach the train. We used t have 7 minutes to do this, enough time. Now we get 1 minute. Can't be done. If I could "Teleport" I'd go home without NCTDs help. Perhaps they should look at someone besides First Transit to run it Probably their fault anyway. read more

On the whole NCTD could improve. I have had an ok experience using the sprinter and coaster but I think it would help to have employees at the stations to answer questions and assists guests. Also gvien the recent heat, might help for the safety of everyone to have more shade provided on the platforms. read more

Coaster Riders to Fair BEWARE!! Huge disappointment and sham--the Coaster ride to the San Diego Fair sounded great--$20 included Fair admission, no parking fee and a train ride there. What the advertising failed to mention was that the Coaster ride runs INFREQUENETLY. After purchasing two fares we learned that the next train didn't run for TWO HOURS! As senior citizens, waiting in the sun for two hours was not an option. Since there is no attendant, we contacted North County Transit District for a refund. They dug in their heels and blamed us for not checking their website. Shame on NTSD for scamming senior citizens with the San Diego County Fair as their bait! read more

The train is ruining Del Mar. They have the police fining locals who have been here for decades -- $500 for crossing the tracks to get to the beach, when we've been doing this forever. Get your train out of Del Mar. I did the research and it's not expensive at all to rebuild your tracks elsewhere. read more

I will give the service no stars!!!! Today a lift driver pulled into The end of the driveway as I was preparing to go to work. She completely blocked the only entrance and exit of the driveway. I pulled up and she flat out ignored me. So I got out of my car and politely tapped on the window and asked if she could just pull back a little so I can exit my driveway. This woman told me to go away and wait until her client came out!!!! She somehow changed her mind when I took out my phone and snapped a picture of her. At this point she backed out of the driveway and took up one lane of traffic and refused to pull forward. If I wasn't as cautious as I was I could've had a head on collision with a BMW coming down the street. im giving them 1 because the drivers are very rude to our children one bus driver called my daughter a liar because her bus pass was not working because we had just loaded it he told her he wanted to see the recipe so she printed it out at school to show him she was not lying.. who the hell is he to treat my child like that? so i reported him well two weeks later i get a phone call from the transit center and of course they take his side. like why would we make this up? im beyond frustrated i think is really wrong for them to be allowed to treat any child that way or to embarrasses them in front of others like that... read more

NOT RECOMENDED! This company is apathetic. They are late 90% of the time. They always ask their clients to allow them 20 minutes leeway, yet the client can only be late FIVE minutes! If you do not come out within 5 minutes, they leave you! If you call to complain, all the say is "sorry". It seems that they never even try to make it right. Horrible entity, have gone through an ordeal with my student compass monthly pass card. I was told NCTD had changed their rates, and went to a new monthly cycle from 28 days to 30 month from the 1st of each month. I had filled mine for the month of October in late September and was told in the interim before the new month began, that NCTD bus drivers would honor student cards that were filled for the month from MiraCosta college and that might beep expired until the new month the 1st began. Well the bus driver treated me like I was some criminal, said my card was expired, I told him what the school told me that NCTD would honor student passes that were expired until they took effect for the new month of the 1st and new monthly cycle. He said for me to get a receipt, so I got one from the college as proof that I had filled my monthly card pass. The next time I boarded, I showed this to him, he was not satisfied, scrutinized it, and basically threatened that he would not give me a ride the next time, that "next time I would have to find another way home". I have gone around and around between NCTD and the college, and now I am out my monthly fee, and with a card that the broken bus card readers don't recognize, I paid for the month of October, yet, my card is not honored or recognized. Customer service was rude to me too, treated me like a pest. So now each time I go to get the bus, I have the stress of wondering if my bus driver will honor my card or not, customer service said they were looking into it, and told me there was nothing they could do, so I am left out, and I have enough stress as a busy college student for this crap. I have been reading about the recent votes and meetings about people wanting to expand public transit in San Diego county, well before they can do this they need to fix what is not working now, there is a-lot of work to be done. Listen up NCTD, SANDAG, and all other environmental organizations concerned about carbon emissions from cars, and those climate scientists investigating this, get out of your labs and offices and listen to someone on the ground in the forefront of all this. With poor service like I have experienced, and between them, the homeless and drug addicts that I come into contact with and approach me, people urinating around my car in the parking lot, as well as a recent sewage spill bubbling up from the sidewalks around the Oceanside transit center, you will NEVER GET PEOPLE OUT OF THIER CARS, unless things improve a-lot. read more

The Sprinter is amazing, fast and clean. The buses are pretty good. Almost always on time. Occasional creepy passenger. The 309 bus has a really weird schedule that makes no sense. Why does it always leave the El Camino Real Sprinter station right before the Sprinter gets there? If it waited two or three more minutes, passengers from the Sprinter could use that bus instead of waiting half an hour (a full hour in the evenings) for the next bus. read more

The bus was a no show for an employee of mine who really needed to get to work on time. A supervisor drove by and stopped. He could have said sorry and went on his way but instead he stepped up and gave him a ride from carlsbad to Vista so he could be to work on time. Great service Mr. Cochron! read more

Sure the buses are pretty clean, but I have had plenty of times where after pulling the strings the drivers keeps going right on with his stop, and then have to walk a mile in the opposite direction. I have also seen it happen to other riders. Really its not how a bus should do things. I shouldn't have to sorry about if the cuz will actually stop where I need it. read more

Boooo! Horrible. I was wanting to get on the 101 breeze bus today at 4:07pm from Gilman Dr. at UCSD. I showed the bus driver my City College ID with my purchased MTS bus sticker which is valid until the end of the term. He told me he couldnt clearly see my pass so I got it out for him. He then told me he didnt accept my pass since I was a SDCC student. I was told I couldnt ride the bus. I felt completely discriminated against not being a UCSD student. I was then unsure if my pass allowed me to ride the NCTD bus, though I had ridden it previously with my pass. So I googled it. Here is what MTS says about my pass ( http://www.sdmts.com/college_fare.asp ) "College Monthly and Semester/Quarter Passes "The college monthly or semester/quarter pass is a great way to commute to participating San Diego colleges or universities without the parking hassles or car expenses! These passes are good for unlimited riding for the specified time on all non-Premium and non-Access MTS bus and Trolley services and NCTD BREEZE and SPRINTER services." Ahhhaaah! So I can indeed ride the NCTD 101 Breeze bus with my City College bus pass. Wow, was I discriminated against by the NCTD employee, or what?... Hello, if you dont know whether someone's pass is valid or not can't you AT LEAST CALL BASE TO FIND OUT? Otherwise you are clearly discriminating against people. This incident totally ruined my day today. For all you college students out there, just know now that your student pass that you purchased validates you to ride the NCTD bus if you're a city/mesa/miramar or other qualifying student. North County Transit Customer Service Center are some of the most unprofessional, insulting people you will ever have the displeasure of dealing with over the phone. I always begin every business call with obtaining the name of the person I'm talking to so that later on, if there is a problem, they can be help accountable for what they told me. This is common sense and something a lot of people do. In one single day, I called 3 times and politely asked the name of who was speaking to so that I can reference it later if needed.... and they immediately hung up on me. 3 TIMES IN A ROW! If they did that to 1 customer 3 times in one day, then logic would dictate that they've been doing this a lot more than just 3 times. That kind of behavior over the phone is enough to get most people fired from their call center job but not these guys. I called 3 separate days over the span of 2 weeks at different times of the day and politely asked to speak with a supervisor or manager and all 3 times was told there is no manager or supervisor on duty that day. I call B.S. They change tickets and fairs that are available to the public, then do not tell their own employees about it, who in turn, give out wrong information. When I finally got through to a supervisor, they didn't even realize that their own company had removed the "All Day Regional Sprinter/MTS $5. pass" from all ticket machines. (You can only get it through their phone app. Good thing I'm not so poor that I don't have a smart phone or I would not have access to that ticket.) and the one way version of that ticket, is NOT available on the App. Only at a ticket machine. Again, their own supervisors weren't even aware of this. This company's upper management is to blame. When the Transit Upper Management does a crappy job, it flows downstream. What a bunch of rude, heartless, miss-managed, impossible to get straight answers from, company. I have never been treated more rudely and unprofessionally by a call center before. And their drivers.... if they see some poor old woman on a walker and she's literally 5 fee from the buss trying to make it to the door.... the driver will pull away. They just don't care. Again... when you have employees like this, it is a direct reflection of sh*tty upper management creating a hostile, miserable work environment where no one has time to make their connections and drivers just don't f***ing give a ****. This is one of the worst transit systems I've ever had to deal with in the entire west coast. When reloading your compass card that is already over priced sometimes their machine won't work and it'll say your card is denied even if it went through the bank, so your compass card will remain empty and their workers were extremely rude when I emphasized I had no money to put on the card to fix it after my payment went through, their workers even told me that they were used to the machine doing this. Why are you used to it? Why can't you fix it to prevent it from happening to other customers especially college students. read more

i was waiting for the 315 bus on camp pendleton at around 6pm on friday june 23rd 2017 , at the bus stop in front of the dominos and mcx gas station in broad daylight at a assigned bus stop , and bus was driving fast and ready to pass me standing right by bus stop , i even waived my hands at him and he still pulled way to much passed me when he pulled over , like it was intentional , and i was on a very personal phone call when i approached bus and swiped my sdm disabled bus pass , and his bus was about 3 feet away from curb , and he didnt lower the bus so i can step up even thou he was 3 feet away from curb , and i had to hop onto the bus even thou im disabled with sdm pass , which could have involved a injury and lawsuit if i would have fell and injured myself .. after i hopped onto bus as i walked passed him after swiping my sdm pass , he told me to keep my voice quiet on phone really rudely after all these other things he did , and i dont talk loud on phone , im a very conservative family man , and he sat there and would not drive bus away till i got off phone , i ask that you look at the video tape on bus # 2510 - route 315 from camp pendleton to oceanside at 6pm to 605pm when the incident happened , also youll see i confronted him in a professional manner at my stop at san luis ray transit center at 613 - 615pm when he dropped me off also , and im wearing a blue napa work shirt and blue napa work hat , and this man was still unwilling to apologize after being confronted of his wrongdoings , so i will confront this to you nctd , this man has some issues i really think that you should consult that could be a liability to you , i posted a picture of the bus driver , he was a african american man that looks like hes in late 60s to early 70s in age , and heavy set and wears big eye glasses , ive been riding your buses for over 20 yrs , and have even a few close friends that are bus drivers for nctd , and this man really needs to be evaluated , thank you , and im willing to take this review off if you evaluate this situation in a professional just manner & get back to me , Thanks read more

DO NOT USE!!!! Absolutely terrible company. Use them about 5 time a week out of necessity. Have been doing this for few months, so I know what I am talking about. I have to call everyday approximately 4 times to ensure that I am getting dropped off or picked up! Late almost everyday. I have complained to telephone operators and dispatchers alike and they just say sorry. Whoever runs this company should be fired. I also asked about putting in a formal complaint and spent several days trying to connect to a person, always got phone recording. When I spoke to person she informed me of lengthy complaint process. I don't have time for that ...I'm constantly on the phone with them. The reason they don't have more complaints on yelp is their user base are poor elderly people that get abused by their terrible service and can't figure what to do! We were at St Marks church in San Marcos yesterday, waiting for Mass, 'Lift' van pulled up with an elderly lady using walker. Just before the van was leaving, we found out that Mass was cancelled, we asked the van driver to wait and take the lady back. He said he had other pickups and could not take her! He was going to leave her stranded with no one around for more than an hour. So we took her back to her residence. Driver could have called for another van or something, how cold. read more

I just got a ride to my 2nd destination. ..I"ll see if my 530pm Lift pick up home will show up.....fingers crossed. ..as an ADA client , I believe NCTD Lift gets a reimbursement/ off set of expenses from the state and /or federal government. ....I intend to follow-up on this miscarriage once my blood pressure calms down. ... The dispatcher and driver need to be sent for training. on the ADA guidelines. Tthe driver is not competent to drive ..and/or she needs to learn how to drive a Lift vehicle up into my doctor's office' parking lot, park in the Handicap space, put the ramp down and pick up the customer/ client. The dispatcher to be retrained on Nctd rules and ADA guidelines. .. I want Nctd officials to go to my doctor's office look at the driveway and parking lot and let me know why this driver felt uncomfortable pulling the van into the parking lot...instead she was allowed to park in the street, blocking the driveway entrance....and the dispatcher allowef her to leave me here... I had just got my bandages off, and I was wearing my surgical boot ,walkjng with a cane...and I had a wheeled cart .with me....I still get upset just while writing this post... On the schedule for 10/3/16 the coaster was supposed to get into Sorrento Valley station at 6:28 am. There was not one time when I was on the train that that happened. The normal time for us to arrive was about 6:34 - 6:36. Arriving at that time did not cause us to arrive at our offices late. We would get in around 6:55 - 6:57. Still time to clock in by 7:00. Now the new schedule (as of 4/3) shows the Coaster will arrive at the Sorrento Valley station at 6:40. It has happened about 3 times since April 3rd. We sit and wait for the Amtrak south of the fairgrounds. Once it passes we continue to sit another minute or so. Then when the train finally begins moving it is moving very slowly. If they would just pick it up a bit we would probably arrive by 6:40. Again this am, late. And late again for work. If appears the Coaster has problems sticking to any schedule posted. Now it is becoming a problem because it is causing work related issues. I spoke with several other riders on the train this morning and there are apparently numerous riders who are going to begin carpooling in order to get to our offices on time. Every time I have written to NCTD I get the stock response: Thank you again for taking the time to contact North County Transit District. I am contacting you to confirm receipt of your complaint. We are looking into this matter now and will respond as soon as possible. but nothing changes. The earlier train is an hour earlier. If it was only 30 minutes I would catch it. At this point carpooling is the new option. Many of the riders are getting together to commute that way read more

NO SHOWS, NO ONE ANSWERS ANY PHONE LINE, LOTS OF LATES, AND MORE SERVICE CUTS THAT MAKE TRIPS LONGER AND MORE DANGEROUS!!! I've been logging the arrival times on my route alone. I can understand five minutes late. Ten minutes is crossing the line. But No Shows and Arriving/Leaving Early is inexcusable. Many people who depend on the bus also depend on it to get to work on time. Don't bother calling -- they NEVER answer ANY of their phone lines. Every time management make route changes it's always for the worst for the riders. It ALWAYS adds travel time from 30 minutes to an hour. Let management ride their own buses to and from work for three months to know how it feels. Grossly inefficient and insensitive to the real customers using their "service". We are PEOPLE, not your bottom line! NO - we do NOT like your changes. I refuse the bus where I get shoved out in BUSY, CONGESTED traffic to wait at a stop. El Camino Real and Mission has to be one the most DANGEROUS bus stops I've ever seen. You people planning these changes are nothing more than educated idiots resting on your laurels. Come down here and try to depend on your own stupid mismanagement of staffing and resources (i.e., ride your own buses). QUIT MAKING US LATE FOR WORK!! read more
