I just moved into a house with an "overhead door legacy" garage door opener The Remote opener that The previous owners left for us did not work- I thought it was the battery, but didn't work even with new batteries. So I bought a new universal remote (chamberlain-genie) that too didn't work inspite of following all directions in the instructions manual After looking at several YouTube videos and calling chamberlain customer support I had pretty much given up Finally I called Tommy's phone # which thankfully I got from the business card stuck on garage door wall above the garage opener switch. He walked me through it in less than a minute and now both remotes work!!!! If it was someone else, they probably would have charged me a fee to come over and take a look and then charged some more to get a new remote. unfortunately my experienced with them was less than pleasant, to put it mildly. The first repair, NDD Tech came to repair the garage door. He fixed the door rollers and placed a bar across the garage door to fix a bend in two panels. I opted not to fix the door instead just repair it, especially since I was told that the issue of door not sliding up and down was broken motor. I paid 200 for that repair and decided to repair the motor later when I have funds for it. Few days later The Roller he placed started coming off the rail again, which was not a big deal since I opted for a repair instead of a replacement. So I put the Roller back in the rail myself and started handling the garage door carefully. . Few months later I called them to come fix the motor. he sent me a brochure listing prices of multiple product grades 1- 1/2 hp chain, and one remote 385 2- 1/2 hp chain, 2 remote and myQ App 439 3- 3/4 hp belt, 2 remote and myQ App 489 and other more expensive options I wasn't interested in I decided on option 2 because It has the App which would add to the value of the house and I don't want to spend 500+.for the belt set. I also had a small piece missing from the garage doors rubber seal, I was hoping we could patch the missing part, but Tommy said the whole thing has to be replaced 3 x 16 ft. I said OK. Tech came replaced motor and rubber seal. when I went to inspect his work, the new rubber seal was not flush with the ground letting daylight coming from outside. Tech said there is not much he can do about it and blamed the foundation not even, despite that the old seal was flush with the ground except for the missing piece. I asked him to help me setting up MyQ App, he said that it was not his job to set MyQ and told me to download the App and do it yourself and that it was easy to do, I was like OOOKey, I thought MyQ App was part of the deal. But I didn't want to argue with him thinking it was a simple thing to do. I paid him and he was gone. When I tried to go through the App setting, I noticed something was missing, and things didn't make any sense as the App was asking for MyQ Serial Number which I couldn't find anywhere on the unit or in the documentation he gave me. I called Tommy, he first sounded ready to help, so I didn't want to mention the issue about rubber seal not going flush with the ground. But He too sounded perplexed by the setup of the App feature and asked for some time to do some research. After a few min he called and said it was a mistake in the brochure and the motor that he sent me doesn't come up with wi-fi preinstalled and that I have to buy an extra wi-fi adapter to get the MyQ to work, the cost of which is about 60 dollar. I told him but the deal was that myQ App is supposed to be included with service grade I picked, otherwise why would I pay an extra 65 dollars? He then start becoming condescending and accusing me of trying to solicit giveaways. I was like sorry I paid the prices you asked for even though the quality of workmanship was poor: 1- Rollers coming loose after repair 2- Newly installed rubber seal was not flush 3- Refusing to help with MyQ install, instead just trying to get paid cutting loose and now you can't even fulfill your end of the agreement and to top it off you are accusing me of soliciting giveaways. I could buy the same unit for less than 150 bucks and have a handyman place it for me for less than 10, which have saved over 250. I always believe in supporting local small business, but NDD is a big reason why small business are not able to make it against big corporates. Most can't stand behind their words and prefer few extra dollars of profit over winning the customer satisfaction and several new referrals. read more

I actually have not had to have Tommy out to my home, yet give North Dallas Doors five stars! One of my garage doors would not close completely and I spent a lot time trying to fix it myself before I gave up and searched our neighborhood message board for a reputable company. North Dallas Doors kept being mentioned as the go to company. This was a Sunday evening. I called Tommy and he answered immediately, and although he was obviously at a family function, he spent about 15 minutes with me on the phone and walked me through the process to repair the door myself. He could have easily let his phone go to voice mail on a Sunday night, or just taken my name and information and come by on Monday, and charged me a service call, but this guy went out of his was to help me, and I will use North Dallas Doors whenever I have an issue again. From the first phone call to NDD, to texting photos of the rotting section of my wooden garage doors, to quick agreement on my realistic options, followed by a quick text quote from Tommy, the owner of NDD. I'd never met the man. he'd never met me. We completed all the details by text and phone the same day I called. He was at my house the next morning and gone by noon, I left him a check before he was finished because I had a dental appointment. Came home to two brand new perfectly installed doors, a cleanly swept garage floor, the old doors neatly stacked on the curb for bulk trash pick up the next morning. Tommy quoted a very fair price for removing the old doors but when I remembered bulk trash was picking up the next morning, he agreed that was the way to go. It was so smooth. Tommy was a prince to deal with, very straightforward, best pricing of all the garage door companies I called, performed on time as promised. Tommy of North Dallas Doors is phenomenal! Someone recommended Tommy to me. We tried to put a key pad on the outside of our garage door ourselves, but the button on our garage door opener to set the code didn't work. Tommy said the button was permanently broken. He knew I was price sensitive because I all wanted was the keypad to work, not a whole new garage door opener. He could stick two wires together to get it to temporarily work just so that we could get the door opener and the keypad to set the code. Yay. About a year later, the keypad stopped working and I called Tommy up and explained it. He remembered our situation! He said he could walk me through re-setting the keypad code and sticking the wire together on the phone, or I could pay him to come out and do it. Wow! He was willing to just walk us through on the phone. I was going to let my husband call Tommy back so we could be walked through it, but we never found the right time. Fast forward another 8 months and finally our garage door just didn't open at all anymore, and the keypad was still broken (and yes, I put in fresh batteries). I called up Tommy once again. He still remembered my garage door opener because of our unique situation. Tommy walked me through some troubleshooting on the new problems I had with my garage door opener and we were able to solve it over the phone. Then I told him I still need the keypad fixed. He said that he could come out, and do it again, but it would be a temp fix and every time the keypad reset, he would have to come out. He gave another option of just buying a new garage door opener and he could come install it. He recommended a brand that I could get from a home improvement store and didn't push me to buy the most expensive. He said half horserpower was the minimum I needed for my door. I purchased the new opener and had Tommy come out to install. I let him know that I was going to try to make my kids' event at school and he was very considerate and came out early and made sure he was completed in time. He was professional and friendly. He went above and beyond when the car in my garage died. The battery was dead so we couldn't move the car from under the opener. He and his buddy pushed my car out so they could do the install and they pushed the car back. Double WOW! I cannot recommend him enough. read more

Showed up 30 mins after I called him and knocked it out for what I felt was extremely fair price. Yesterday I decided to close the garage door on a ladder and tear things up.
