Answered the phone on the second ring. *Very* competitively priced and was able to schedule me the following morning. Arrived on time. Pleasant, clean-cut worker. Knew his stuff. Simple maintenance call for two doors took less than 30min. He didn't try to upgrade the doors or point out "potential" hazards we "should go ahead and fix now." He told me what was working as it should (almost everything) and what to watch. Doors open and shut silently and without drama. And HE SWEPT OUT MY GARAGE!! Who even does that? The spring on my garage door broke and when I described the issue, I was asked for photos to confirm. I was quickly given a more specific estimate and was able to schedule someone to come out the next day, which was a Saturday AND it had snowed that morning. Tyler (I think) called within 30 minutes and told me he'd be out in 30 more. He arrived right on time and quickly confirmed the issue and price again. The chain came out of the socket on my garage door opener. After reviewing many companies on yelp, I came across Blake & Sons and saw that they received 5 stars for all of their reviews. So I called and Chris picked up the phone and explained to me that I didn't need a service technician because he was confident that he could talk me through the process to fix it myself. He was very professional and understanding. After about 45 minutes of being on the phone with me, I was able to fix the issue. Absolutely delighted to write a review for Chris with Blake and Sons. It's wonderful to find someone especially a young person that is so skilled and professional and with a great work ethic. From the bid to completion of the work, Chris kept his promise by arriving on time, to understanding exactly what we wanted and then delivered a little more than promised. Today it is very hard to find contractors that keep their word without charging you more than you expected when they arrive. What I like is for contractors to stick to what they promise, deliver the work expected and love the work they do. Chris delivered in every way. So my door closed on a broom and the rails bent and 3 wheels came out. Door wouldn't close and I tried to fix it myself. My Thor approach failed so I called Blake and sons. Chris took the call and came within the hour since he was close by finishing a job in Coppell. Professional attire and very courteous. After a long tiring day at work I had to drive home through heavy rain and so I was very happy to finally arrive - but after parking in my garage I suddenly remembered that I forgot to go to the store and so I quickly hit reverse. This turned out to be a very bad move because I forgot that I had already closed the garage door. Too late! -- BOOM! I rammed the door with such force that I bent it and knocked it off its track. OMG -- I never do anything halfway and when I mess up I do so with 100% effort. So it was late, it was dark and it was miserable outside. After calling several garage door repair companies and being told the earliest they could come out would be late the following day and that I would most certainly require a replacement door (double insulated door = $$$) I was feeling totally beat. Plus I wasn't looking forward to having the garage door gaping open overnight, especially with the threat of continued driving rain. Thankfully I called Blake and Sons and Chris said he was just finishing up but he would be happy to stop by. Within half an hour, Chris was single handedly able to whack the rails in a few key spots and then wrestle that heavy door back onto its track. With just a tiny visible bent area my insulated garage door was soon good as new. Chris was fast, professional, fair, courteous and very knowledgeable. In conversation I happened to mention that my concrete slab had a small "gouge" right under the door opening that created an opening at the bottom of the door. It was so frustrating because it continually allowed snakes, frogs, bugs, leaves and litter to enter the garage. Chris pointed out that (for whatever reason) in addition to that gouge in the concrete, the builder also had not installed the proper length rubber gasket at the bottom of the door -- and that shortage also helped critters and debris to enter the garage. I had been told by previous repairmen that I would have to have the concrete slab repaired ($$$) but I never noticed that the rubber seal did not extend the length of the door. I quickly arranged for Chris to come out the next day to replace the rubber seal and he did so without charging an additional service fee. Amazing how much better my doors look with the new rubber seal. My garage door now looks better than new -- and it was such an inexpensive fix! Overall my entire experience with Chris was a bargain -- considering the other companies advised they would only be able replace the door and not repair it. (One of the companies was out of Southlake and had "Christian" in its name.) Apologies for the long post. I have already recommended Chris to several friends and I wholeheartedly encourage you to do the same - you will not regret it. He is a good man. read more
