I referred several people to this company after he was nice to came out 2 times over a couple years and give a bid on my garage door... That was minor damaged he bid a new one which was ok... Yet last week the garage door fell and I called him for a bid to put it up until my renter could afford a new one. He gave a fair price and said within 2-3 hours he could be there after his other job. I told him ok but I will try to fix it with friends and keep him updated.... Within 45 minutes I called him my friends fixed it... **The reason for the one star was because the attitude and yelling at me how I never give him money while he bids on jobs...he ignored I referred him business. Dustin tried to repair my garage door so it would open when I needed. He charged me $100.00. The door worked for 2 days but then it went back to not opening ( like before he repaired it). So I phoned him and he said he would work the job in the next day. He came out and replaced the down limit switch which he said cost $52.00. While he was here I noticed the brackets that hold the railing were pulling away from the ceiling, so I pointed that out to Dustin. He put two new pieces of metal for brackets and attached them to the ceiling. My total bill was $100.00 ( again). In my view, Dustin could have given me a break on the charge since the door was not repaired the first time. He was a little frustrated and annoyed( personal opinion) because he said he would be late for his McKinney, TX appointment and that he would have to give them a discount for not being on time. Replacing the metal brackets coming loose from the ceiling and shooting in 4 clips to hold a loose wire ( 6 seconds) were not on the agenda for that morning. read more

Dustin was responsive. He fixed the problem within a short notice and accommodated my tenant schedule. Until Dustin arrived we weren't fully clear if the problem was just the cable or the spring. Dustin quoted me $50 (fair enough) and $200 for the spring. I didn't give him 5 stars because it end up being just the cable and he charged $75. When we reminded him the original quote, he said it was $50 ONLY if it's on top of fixing the springs. Today is Labor Day, and yes my garage door Spring BROKE!! I had to tie the door up in place and not use it until he could come out to fix it. He said the tracks were in the wrong place and he moved them. Our garage door buckled late Monday night and my sister thought it was too late at 10PM to call but we did thinking we would get an answering machine. Wow....really was surprised at the way I was talked to by this guy. I called to get a estimate on replacing both Springs that have broke and replacing my old garage door opener to a new updated garage door opener with smartphone app that can be used. I had already had another company out the day before & was checking to see if I was getting a fair deal. Right off the start he hits me about $150 higher. I really wanted to use this guy because of all the great reviews I had read. But as soon as I told him how much higher he was he perceives to tell me I wasted his time and that he has to feed his family in a really rude manner. I don't know if he was just having a bad day or what? If he would have handled it a lot better I probably would have paid more just to have this problem fixed. I was just really shocked because of all the 5 stars and reviews. I am also in sales and being on the other side this really gave me a look on how not to treat people even if I was having a bad day. Very disappointed. When he came over I had a neighbor here that had fixed my door before. He told me what I needed but my garage door opener wasn't closing the door all the way so after I told him this he said that him "balancing," my door would fix the problem. I told him that I was concerned that it wouldn't and that my neighbor could do what he's offering to do for $20 then he assured me that he had been a "professional," and been doing this for 20 years so I agreed to allow him to do a $20 job for $150 (that took ten minutes ) because he assured me if my door was balanced my opener would work properly. Well, lol guess what? After he put my door back on correctly he called me out to tell me I needed a new garage door opener. That mine was 16 years old and it wasn't the door. Oh, wow. When I brought up that it was 16 years old prior to putting the door back on and when he assured me it would work HE got offended saying "how could YOU be mad at ME?? Unbelievable. Do not use this service. They sent out a guy when my garage door was working sometimes and some times not. Guy tried to tell me I needed $600 worth of repairs, new spring, motor and so on. I called another service that came here for free and learned it was simply my sensors were not line up. The first guy did absolutely nothing and never mentioned the sensors. My garage was fixed in 2 minutes by second guy. Five star in McKinney is a rip off. The technician was obviously not trained well or trained to rip off elderly ladies. I am only posting my experience because I researched all these reviews before hiring Dustin. I do not want anyone else to go through the trouble that I am. 6/28/16 - I hired The Garage Door Man (Dustin Sigmon) to purchase and install a 14x8 DBCI 2500 Series Roll up Garage door due to the hail damage in Wylie, TX. I gave Dustin the requested half down of $750 US Dollars to order the door. Dustin said it would take about two weeks to get the door in and he would contact me to schedule the install. 7/18/16 - Three weeks went by so I contacted Dustin to get status. He told me the door was shipped to Denver on accident and being re-routed to Dallas. I contacted Dustin weekly for the next month to get status that it had not arrived. 8/22/16 - I contacted Dustin and he told me it would be here the following week. 8/29/16 - Dustin tells me he went to get the door and the company was Out of Business. He said the gates and doors were locked and no lights on. He told me he needed to contact his insurance and his attorney to find out what to do. 9/5/16 - I called Dustin and he still had no answers. I asked Dustin if I order a door from Mueller what the charge would be for him to come install it. He said he would charge $500 for labor and $200 for a lift. Since I had already paid him $750 US Dollars he agreed that he would install the door for that amount which would finalize our agreement. 9/8/16 - I ordered a door from Mueller and informed Dustin it would be here on September 14th. He said he would call his guy and arrange for the install that week. 9/14/16 - I called Dustin to inform him that the door was here and asked when he could install. He said he would call his guy and call me back. I received no call back. 9/19/16 - I called Dustin and he still could not provide an install date. 9/26/16 - I called and still no install date. 9/29/16 - I called and still not date. He was still trying to get it arranged with his install guy. He informed me his attorney told him he is out of luck for getting his money back from the company that he ordered the door from. 10/4/16 - I called Dustin and he said his guy could come out Thursday or Friday of this week to install it. He said he would call me back with the date. 10/5/16 - I called Dustin and he tells me his guy cannot do it because he is too busy. So I asked if I take a day off work, will he come help me do the install. He said he cannot because he just got out of hospital with a broken foot. He said he did not have the money and would have to make payments back to me. He asked for a few days to look at his books and determine how much he could pay and how often. 10/11/16 - I called Dustin and he said he would like to pay $100 US Dollars each week until $750 is paid in full starting the week of 10/23/16. I typed up an agreement letter and sent it to Dustin through certified USPS mail. 10/15/16 - Dustin received and signed for the letter per USPS. 11/3/16 - I have not received a payment so I called Dustin to verify the agreement letter was ok. He said he just got out of the hospital because he had a minor stroke and was going to have to close his business. He was stuttering with his speech. He asked for a couple days to talk to his brother about borrowing the money. 11/7/16 - I asked a friend to call Dustin to inquire about a door install to see if he stuttered with his speech to prove if this was true. Dustin answered the phone in plain speech. Gave my friend a quote and even corrected him on the standard size of a garage door. I am now having to handle this legally since Dustin failed to complete the job, provide a refund and has been dishonest. I have no idea how much of what he said is true besides I know he did not have a stroke or closing his business. read more

I agree Dustin is the first to respond. I highly recommend that you take the time to get a second opinion before letting him sell you anything that requires technical expertise. He did a great job on fixing springs on 2 of our doors. Came down $100 off his price immediately. Total $525 for 3 springs. Then we were having problems with the 3rd bay garage doe and he told us the circuit board was fried and recommended we replace the garage door opener and that would fix all our problems. I thought we were getting another lift master but he installed a chamberlain. Another $375. Now our cars will not open the 3rd bay without a remote. The remotes will not open the 2 car bay. His response was that our cars were too old for the new technology that he installed in the 3rd bay. I sure wish I would have called someone else out that had the technical knowledge to advise us properly. Total bill $1,175. Ripped off. read more

My garage door was not closing all the way. I called Dustin to come out and fix it and after 40 or so minutes he said he had fixed the garage. 5 minutes after leaving my house the door once again was jammed and not closing properly. I called Dustin back immediately and he came back to my house and said that I needed to buy a new motor because, according to him, my motor was causing the problem. Dustin recommend that I buy the Chamberlain brand motor and so I went to Home Depot and bought the most expensive Chamberlain motor they offered. The next day, Dustin came over and installed the new motor. Once again, the door jammed and wouldn't close. Dustin then said, "oh I didn't think you would buy the best motor, this one may be too good, i thought you'd buy the cheaper model." He then proceeded to tell me that I had a "curse" on my door and that he had no clue as to what the problem is. So after spending hundreds on a new motor and Dustin's "labor" my door was still jammed and wouldn't close. Luckily, my wife found a 7 minute YouTube video that helped us fix the problem. The motor installation was very poorly done and it all had to be redone. I have ZERO experience in fixing garage doors and yet, with the help of the YouTube video, I was able to fix my door by myself. read more
