Some of the good companies I found do not cover Gainesville area. Then one my of neighbors recommended Retex. She had the roof done in August and Retex was the cheapest quote. So I called Retex, and the phone was answered right away (not like some other places I called). Wes met with me over zoom and went over the whole re-roofing process with a powerpoint presentation (what would be replaced and what might be extra). The quoted price wasn't the cheapest, but I liked how Wes went through the whole procedure, so I decided to go with Retex. The job was done promptly, the crew was courteous. Wes was very communicative during the whole process. What I liked the most is that whatever concern I had, Wes would address them until I am satisfied. Looking back, it would be an even better experience if I told them my expectations in detail before the job was done. There isn't much rain yet, but I believe the roof will hold up in heavy rains. During this time, I learned that not everyone likes a do-it-yourself like me. Some even said I wanted, "free work." Not true! However, the current installed prices spoke to me. I grabbed my tools! Pulling a local permit as a home owner/builder in Florida, I installed a 2 ton (24k) ACIQ-24-HP32 condenser and ACIQ-24-AH32 air handler, and related mechanical. This system replaced a 26 year old 1.5 ton (18K) Trane XE-1000 condenser and TWGO18A air handler that was showing its age -- like me. One of my main hardware vendors, HVAC direct, patiently worked with me as I learned the new system requirements. With help from Isaiah Luke Appliance Repair to do the final commissioning of the system, the new ACIQ inverter system passed local inspection! The new system is a noticeably quieter and produces considerable heat split by comparison with the previous system. The fact that the ACIQ has a higher BTU rating, (24K) a higher seer rating (18), and yet uses smaller breakers, 30A down to 25A on the outside unit and 30 down to 15 amps for the inside unit and doesn't dim my lights when it runs, says it all. The design is personal and amazingly thoughtful; seeing we have dogs, she incorporated a dog run area into her design. Plants in the front yard were selected to be of low value to deer, which frequent our yard. Rocks in the waterfall were meticulously arranged to look natural, and sound beautiful with the water flowing. Existing fruit trees were incorporated into a food crop area with our raised beds and herb pots. Our living space has expanded, our pups are happier, our neighbors are interested, and we are thrilled with what LDA has created for us. Now I'm trying to find a company that will finish several half completed projects. So far, no one wants come in behind them. Although very nice, they drag their feet and are not at all reliable.
