Not a good experience. My wife and I arrived to a very empty tavern. Only 2-3 other patrons there. Didn't appear to be any servers on shift yet so the bartender was our server. Service started well enough. The problem started after we ordered. Wife got wings which she said were OK. Nothing special. I ordered shrimp tacos and my wife ordered the Pittsburgh salad. While waiting for the food, it started to get a bit busier and I had to go to the bar to get drinks refilled. I get it. It was getting close to happy hour on a Friday. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. The steak on my wife's salad was so overdone it was hard as a rock. Inedible. The shrimp tacos were FRIED shrimp. The menu didn't say this. I was expecting steamed shrimp or any other preparation except fried. It's unfortunate because the rest of the taco toppings were good. Had the shrimp been anything other than fried, it likely would have been quite good. Menu should be updated to reflect the fact that the shrimp are fried. Didn't really taste like shrimp....just tasted like fried breading. Yuck. The fries were way too greasy. I only ate a few bites of the tacos and let the bartender know so she was kind enough to take them off of our bill. Don't know that we will be back. read more

Busy night in Carlisle during the Ice Festival so we decided to try an old faithful the North Hanover Grille. There were five of us and we were hungry from getting out for some fresh air and walking downtown. This is a very old style pub restaurant the Menu is a moderate sized and they offer specials. There was to much going on with our group everyone ordered something different and we had appetizers and soups and different entrees! I ordered a Chunky Buffalo Chicken Dip with Soft Pretzels for an appetizer I wish I took a picture anyway there were two large Bavarian Pretzels with a bowl of Buffalo Chicken dip it was exactly what you expect it to be great tasting and just enough spice! For Dinner I ordered the Dickinson 2 - 6oz Angus Burgers, Bacon American & Montery Jack Cheddar Cheese on a Roll Large & Delicious! Kudos to Vasoula our server on an outstanding job! read more

I'm assuming because it is a small town they are regulars or something. The food was very good. Salad was basic but the pesto was great! They had a plant based burger which I thought was good. The highlight of this place is the specials! They had a ton of specials (as seen in the photo). The aesthetics of the place is basic bar- low lighting - street parking pretty dingy inside . That alone almost turned me away. Very small and quiet . Fairly clean for a dingy place though. They have peanuts on the table I guess as a free appetizer. The chips side is good as well. Stopped in on our road trip to visit New Jersey. First of all the town is ADORABLE!! What a perfect little hole in the wall. All of the food was delicious and the servings were very large for the price. My son got cheese sticks that were only $5 at happy hour. They were good enough but the marinara was delicious and homemade. I also enjoyed the pretzel with beer cheese (YUM) and a very delicious French onion soup. I had the blackened salmon salad, minus the salmon since they ran out last night. The chicken they substituted was seasons so well, and had a bit of a kick to it. Plus, the sweet potato fries were absolutely delicious. And the food came out relatively quickly - 15 minutes I'd say. Better than I expected, but far from the best. Our waitress could have been a bit more friendly. Also, it was very dark and almost seemed dive-barish with the numerous folding tables, plastic table cloths, and really dark lighting. We've been here a few times and were actually excited about it tonight! But, it was the worst service we've had and the food was tasteless! We had to find our waitress and ask for silverware and napkins and to exchange a dirty appetizer plate! They changed the menu but the burgers used to be quite tasty. Not tonight though! The waitress only stopped at the table about 2 minutes after delivering our meals. And when we checked out she never asked how anything was. Service is friendly, fast, and welcoming. This place is a neighborhood place where everyone can know your name. Food is great. Nothing fancy, but good comfort food. Owners are almost always working. It is clear to see they are invested. Wing night is Tuesday, best wings in town. If you are looking to melt your face off, try the insanity sauce. You've been warned. The cheese steak is awesome. It is served on the hard crust roll. My wife's favorite. My boys love coming here. Sometimes you feel like you pay a lot of kids meal, for what you get, but not here. Kid meals are very good potions. I ate here with my brother and a friend before we went to the Carlisle Theater, because I t was within walking distance and a beautiful night. The servers were all very pleasant and attentive. We had sandwiches: a Southwest Wrap, BBQ Ranch Chicken Focaccia, and Courthouse Melt. All were delicious. I chose the melt because I wanted a crab cake and this melt had it!
