Made a reservation for 10 people a few days out. They were super accommodating, and we even bumped it up by one like two days before. More kind and accommodating on the phone than just about any restaurant I've ever called. We came in like a half hour early, over the course of 20 minutes, cause we were traveling in multiple vehicles from ways away... I called ahead, but they said it was no problem at all. They were super helpful, I got drinks started while the rest of the party arrived. Ordered a bunch of appetizers... Mozzarella, sweet potato, waffle, fries, calamari... With like three different dipping sauces. Each of those was fantastic. Folks ordered burgers, chicken, cheesesteaks, traditional fair, like cottage pie, etc. Quantities were massive. Food was tasty. Many to go boxes were provided. The desserts were a surprise... I got my bread pudding to go. And then a few people got the lava cake and shared it. Great beer selection. Great cocktail selection. Great music on the speakers... At least I thought so, the Young'ns weren't as impressed with the sing-along Classics. Our server was beyond helpful, responsive, kind, accommodating,; probably one of the best I've ever had... Is that possible? Big party, I didn't check the details on the check... and the large party tip was included already. So I gave her too much cash for the tip, she stopped me on the way out and wanted to make sure I didn't screw up... Which I did. So she returned a couple bucks. Wow! I wish I could take it home with me. Inside an older building with character, the pub has wooden floors and plenty of tables and has a funky vibe (as in very positive, not franchised sameness). Two big rooms are divided by a service island for the wait staff. Friendly hostess took us a table within a minute; a friendly waitress greeted us and gave us time to read the beer list (which goes on for pages). I ordered a plank of home made beers (4 glasses of about 4 ounces each); Laura got a martini. We shared a small order of wings with bourbon bbq sauce -- I wished I could've taken it home -- which were fabulous. My bangers and mash were excellent. Top notch all over; street parking. I'm conflicted about this review. The mixed drink I had was great (vodka, pineapple, strawberry, caramel smoothie). I would definitely get it again. They have the most insane drink menu I've ever seen. Hundreds of beers. Whatever you want, they probably have it somewhere. A multitude of beer on tap. I got to try my first Red Ale here (not a fan unfortunately). You could tell the draft was good though. My problem with this place is the food. I'll not mince words. Some of the worst food I've ever had. Beer cheese was bland. The pretzel tasted like semi-soggy cardboard. I tried my brother-in-law's fries, same thing (maybe even worse). If I went for drinks alone, probably an easy 5 star. But because I did eat their food, I have to rate it accordingly. I'd come here for drinks. Not for food. Great spot for grabbing drinks. All of their food is great, but their hamburger salad is my favorite. The salad dressing has a tomato base and it's outstanding. Their buffalo chicken salad is also good, but if you're unsure of what you want, go for the hamburger salad. It's always a win. read more

Ate there twice last week. On a Monday it was super busy and somewhat chaotic. On first visit I had my favorite fish and chips. The chips are a lot better and without all the seasoning the old ones had. However the batter has changed, it is much thinner and does not have the crunch of the old batter. I like their coleslaw. Unfortunately no cask beer on. Second visit I had the lobster roll special. And second time no cask beer. My friend had Shepherd pie. The potato was 2 scoops just dumped on top and not raked flat as it should be and flashed under the grill to give the potato some color and make sure it was hot. read more

Decided to try this establishment after not having luck finding a decent, healthy lunch at another place we really wanted to eat at. I'm glad we did, and our creator made things work out the way it did. While having fried fish and chips wasn't my first choice today, as I eat healthier choices mostly, I'm very glad we came here. We walked in around 12:30 pm during lunchtime. Despite the lunch crunch and a sizeable number of patrons in the restaurant section, we were seated quickly and greeted. Looking at the Pub type food choices, we both decided on starting with the house salad. Mine with Malt vinegar so I could stay true to avoiding dairy, my friend with a dill dressing, which was homemade here, and she loved. What should we order in a Pub? Fish and Chips, of course! We also offer shepherds pie, chicken pot pie, and much more. See the pics of the menu I provided here. The ambiance is very good, lots of space between tables, well decorated, comfortable overall. The service was great and very accommodating to my finicky, picky food choices, modifications, and self-imposed healthy food (Pescatarian "plus", nearly vegan) needs. The salad was plentiful and fresh. The fish and chips was also plentiful. Nice pieces of fish and a bunch of fries. The fish coating was flavorful and crunchy/crisp. Trying not to go too far of the healthy path, I took most of the breading off the fish and realized that next time I should just ask for the fish minus the breading if they would do that. Removing the crunchy breading, I found the fish still tasty but greasy from its frying, of course. And the cocktail sauce was also great. Yep, in one meal I used all of my daily weight watchers points and more. That's the beauty of my lifestyle - having the flexibility to go far afield on occasions. (Pass me the carrot sticks, celery, and lettuce for the next few days, please - ha!) I can't say too much about how good the seating area and service were. They made the meal even better! read more

Just picked up the menus and walked us through slowly to find a table that didn't need to be cleaned off. Not a very warm welcome, and the dirty tables weren't a good first impression. Big TVs are good for watching sports. Average volume. Some of the seating feels unnecessarily cramped. This place could do with a better layout, but maybe that's the pub atmosphere they are going for. Ordered a soda, and it tasted like carbonated water, so I sent it back, and they said they couldn't figure out how to fix the flavoring on the machine. But I know that just happens sometimes, and I appreciate the effort anyway. Fries were warm but definitely not hot and fresh. The fish was pretty awesome. We always had to ask for refills, but it would have been noticeably better if our server had recognized we needed drinks and brought them without needing to be asked. They give you a check with a QR code on it. Inventive and efficient, but also, given the rest of our experience, came across as a lazy and potentially less accessible and intuitive method of collecting payment. The restaurant is located in the main street Carlisle so parking could be tough. We walked in on a Friday evening about 630ish. There was plenty of room at the bar, so we took a seat at the bar. We had a really nice bartender and did not recall his name, we first ordered the boozy Java for $11, which was amazing, and ordered an espresso martini also $11. I've had many espresso Martinis, and this is hands down the best one I've ever had run don't walk to get one! I have eaten here in the past, and the food has never let me down! My brother decided to order the steak Chesapeake for $20.95 it came with a side salad, onion rings, rice pilaf, and the steak and crab. First, the amount of food for $20 was awesome, and the food was out of this world. I would highly recommend ordering this next time. read more

We decided to try market cross pub after seeing their drink special featured on instagram. The Peeptini did not disappoint. Super cute and delicious! Reminded me of much more expensive drinks I've had elsewhere. For dinner hubby ordered the fried chicken sandwich and I got the beer cheese burger no lettuce. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. Burger was cooked well and the beer cheese was delicious. I find that often times there's not enough cheese in my burgers but this was the perfect amount. Literally dripping off. Fries were crispy on the outside with perfect crunch and the insides were still soft. Atmosphere feels very English Pub authentic. Lots of vintage pub decor, traditional tables and chairs, etc. Very comfortable for a casual meal out. I'm looking forward to trying the shepherds pie next read more

I've been going back and forth on leaving a review because the food was really very good, HOWEVER a major mistake was made. We ordered two Arnold Palmer drinks - which I've ordered for years and they always arrive nonalcoholic. Any other establishment I've been to that might have an alcoholic version will ask how I want it. Disappointingly, the drinks we received from this place were both alcoholic. They were very weak (luckily), so I just thought the tea was bitter but when we got the bill I was surprised to see they were both alcoholic. This was especially horrifying considering I'm 3-months postpartum and breastfeeding, and even worse the other person I was with is 30 sober!!! Luckily, she's very comfortable in her sobriety and this didn't cause any severe issues on her part physically, but I still can't believe this happened. Very disappointing - so customers beware when ordering drinks from this place. read more

very English, very hole in the wall, pub in downtown Carlisle. stopped for lunch while passing by. nice beer selection - both US craft & English standards. they have a few of their own, too. there was an imperial stout both on nitro & 1year aged in bourbon barrels on cask. got a sample of each & decided on a full pour of the cask. delicious - pulled on a proper hand pump. my wife had cottage pie - beef as the meat. she's not a lamb fan. she loved it. I had shepherds pie - the traditional way - lamb as the meat. delicious. surprising addition of cinnamon in the spices, but excellent. exceptionally tasty food. the server was all over the place but spot on when we needed something. can't say enough good things about the food. my only complaint might be that we asked to be seated away from the door because it was rather cold, & she took us around, away from the door, and seated us 2 booths from the other door. really?? it was cold enough inside the pub that few of the patrons took off their coats. read more

I learned that Carlisle, Pennsylvania is the sister city to Carlyle, England, and this cozy establishment is a homage to a traditional English pub. A staggering number of beer options, Bass and Smithwicks of course, Scottish ales, house brews, and many local and regional offerings. We enjoyed four different beers plus a sample. Their on premises brews include a cask beer option, very British in character, high alcohol, low carbonation and not chilled. Unique! The food was great, don't miss the horseradish sauce. We shared the hearty hot crab dip for starters and each had a Royal sandwich. My husband opted for onion rings but I stuck with the crisps - that's chips to you Yanks. Service was most hospitable and prices were unbeatable. Loved the decor. My only criticism was I thought the lights were up too high. But five stars easy from this road tripper. We had a jolly good time! If you're staying at any of the numerous hotels in the area do yourself a favor- skip the Iron Skillet and KFC and drive five extra minutes downtown to the Pub. I am heartbroken! This used to be one of my 2 favorite places in Carlisle, but they got rid of the Earl of Westmoreland sandwich, the best thing in their menu, and the Beef and Guinness stew, the second best thing on their menu, and the Dragon's Milk, my favorite beer. It's still a decent English style pub, but the things that drew me here over and over as my favorite comfort food place in Carlisle are gone now. Ah well. read more

I was very pleased to hear from Joe and this shows they really care about their customers. We went back today and we had an excellent meal and fantastic customer service. My son and I had the Crab stuffed salmon, which was delicious. My husband had the Beef and Guinness and it was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Came in for a beer flight and a Jacketed Potato with beer cheese. The potatoes were amazing and could be shared as an appetizer for two people. Definitely want to come back for dinner here in the future. My flight included their Excalibur Imperial Stout and Mathilde's Last Waltz Belgian Blonde, but the other two beers in my flight were local (an IPA from Back Porch Brewing, which is nearby, and a Pilsner from Harrisburg's Boneshire Brew Works). Wish I could've tried more of their in-house beers, but those were the only two. They did offer the Stout on Nitro, as well as a huge seven-page menu of wine, seltzers, and cocktails.
