This a hamburger sandwich shop. It's locally owned. This sits in a house setting in the Main Street of Dillsburg. The menu is somewhat small but has an appealing selection. Today I ordered a sirloin steak sub. I made a small change to it. It was impressive delicious. In fact I almost ordered a second one! Service was good. You can either enter the front or the side of the restaurant. Handicap accessible. Grab a menu when you walk in and have a seat wherever you like. First off, I forgot to take any pictures, so my bad. But boy the food was so good, I didn't even think of pics at the time. The fried pickles are fried perfectly & taste delicious. Just wish it was a larger portion. I had the Nikki's Luau Burger and couldn't be more impressed. The slice of grilled pineapple really complimented the burger and gave it a perfect sweet & salty balance. The food was excellent, and the setting was charming, making me eager to return. Everyone was very friendly.

I met a friend from Harrisburg for lunch - the Pickle Nickel is about halfway. The restaurant is on the first floor of an old neighborhood home. I can't put my finger on it but I didn't feel like I was in a cute little dining room - perhaps the lack of heat in the room was part of the problem. Our lunch was good but it took more time than expected for it to be served. I can't say I'll never go back - most everybody deserves a chance to try to get it right. read more

Go for the burgers, not the decor. We each had tiny four-ounce burgers and split a large fries and a chocolate milkshake (which they offered to put in two cups for us, which was nice). Everything was excellent, but since it was all fresh, it takes longer than a fast-food joint (thank goodness!). Looked like they were doing some repair work on the walls in the back hallway (but it didn't seem active, so who knows how long that will be around), but the plumbing worked and it was clean enough. read more

It was a muggy summer eve on July 1st. As always, when traveling, we like to search out local establishments, and while eating well, we can also support local entrepreneurs. My wife found this gem with a Google search. After landing and getting settled into our rental house, our group of 8btook a leisurely two block stroll down the street to the Pickle Nickel. We were handed our menus and seated in the front room to peruse the menu and order our drinks. I ordered the 50-50. It's a combination of 50% rough ground bacon and 50% ground sirloin. It arrives on a bun with any toppings they have, and as I discovered, it's fried in a special sauce comprised of basalmic vinegar, rosemary, and maple syrup. Seems fitting with the bacon. Eating the sandwich was a somewhat messy affair since the burger was cooked to perfection and oozed of the aforementioned sauce. As I told the owners wife and cook before I left, "That was the most deliciously messy burger I have ever eaten". I didn't taste all of the other burgers, but my wife was well pleased with her bacon cheeseburger. I can't finish this review without talking about the fries. Their fries are handcut and are offered naked for you to dip in Ketchup or they also come covered with bacon and cheese as my Mother in law and daughter ordered along with some Pickle Nickel sauce on the side. All I can say about the sauce is that it adds a whole new taste level to fries with its spice level! So I end by saying that if you want some off the charts burgers and fries, please give this establishment a try! read more

I'm not really sure about this place.. I am an advocate for supporting the locals but this place was just.... odd. Food-The menu definitely drew me here, plenty of options. I got the bacon Luvah burger. It was good, felt and looked like a Pinterest burger attempt, the bacon was not crispy( not the bacon inside) it had the bacon flavor however the burger meat wasn't flavor packed but it wasn't bland either just meh. My daughter got the cheeseburger mini from the kids menu, the mini is no exaggeration def not a fulfilling meal for any kid, toddlers included. My fiancé got the special, it had coleslaw on it, nothing impressing but not bad... Environment- We parked across the street since we read(other Yelp reviews) the parking was minimal... They have a little arcade for kids, my daughter enjoyed this very much. The staff is where this visit just became so odd/awkward. Though they were nice and attentive they seemed to be TOO comfortable. I get it's a hometown restaurant but talking loudly about your personal business in the dining area is just unprofessional. I felt super awkward knowing all about the staff members home life... and it's just not what I want to hear when I'm trying to enjoy dinner with my family... This place was awesome! We were in the area and looked up food places on Yelp and saw this place had 4 1/2 stars. It's on the corner of the street so there isn't much parking but there's a lot right across the street with lots of space. I had the mushroom swiss sandwich with grilled chicken and my husband had the 8oz Nikki Luau burger and we shared a large order of fries. It was all great! His burger was huge and juicy, all sirloin meat. The fries are homemade, fresh cut. We just sprinkled some old bay on them. The employees are super friendly and the cook/owner even talked to us and asked how everything was.I would definitely go back! read more

I want to give this a higher rating because I love to support local businesses who cook real food . . . but I can't. The new location is lacking parking so we had to park in the lot across the street and risk life and limb to cross the busy street. The door that looks like the entrance, isn't the entrance unless you are handicapped; so you have to go around to the side. Once in, it's cramped. We found a booth in the front room and got cozy. It felt like people were crawling over each other to get to their seats. We were near the handicapped door and watched group and group try to enter (some ignored the sign and used it anyway). I love the ambiance. I love the colors. I love the "homestyle" charm of the place. The service is GREAT! The food plus the cramped quarters is what leaves me with the 3 star rating. The burgers are way over cooked. There is no juice. They are tough and dry. You can tell by the flavor that they're using good meat. Which makes the overcooking even more frustrating. If you want a dry piece of meat on a bun . . . it's a good option. I prefer my burgers juicy, even if they are cooked until there is no pink. The fries are fine, but the ones we ordered (with the peppers) were hard to eat because the pepper pieces were so large. You could eat a fry or a pepper . . . but not together. If the hot peppers were diced up, you could eat the fries with a little pepper. For the cost, I'd rather make burgers at home where I can make sure they are nice and juicy. The arcade is in the back and consists of a few machines. I'd call it a few game machines. I'm not sure I'd call it an arcade. read more

If I could give this place more stars I would. The food is simple and tasty. Lots of creative sandwiches and burgers, but also few veggie and seafood options. Fried Pickles are a must, so is Nikki's Laua Burger. Now the bonuses comes in a form of the friendly service and if you have kids, their special is a must. Tokens, what tokens? Was our reaction. And low and behold there is a small arcade tucked away in back. Not only you child will be entertained, but also will leave with a small prise. Win win win. Last but not least. The owner, Kelly, thoughtfully offered us additional coffee refill to-go. The Pickle Nickel is likely will be our "apres ski" destination when skiing in Roundtop. read more

This was our first time at the new location, but it was just as good as their old shop just up the street. The owners are always nice and will get you whatever you like. For a "hometown" restaurant the food is quite good. Burgers are done to your preference and are hand-made. A large fry could feed an army. The milkshakes are awesome and are hand-spun with local ice cream. There's an arcade for the kids, so it's a nice place to bring the family instead of a chain restaurant. Since it's a local family owned restaurant I give it 5 stars. We'll continue to patronize them and bring the kids. read more
