The most immediate and knowledgeable assistance every time. The first time I went there, years ago, I needed a really odd sized screw type thingie for the end pin in a cello. I had gone to Home depot, Osh, and even Benning's, (which actually MAKES stringed instruments). No luck. On the way home I spotted this hardware store and thought I'd give it one more shot. The guy took the broken piece between his fingers and rolled it back and forth. Then he went over to a drawer and VIOLA! AND... I think it was less than fifty cents! The place usually has what your looking for, and the guys are always helpful. People bitch about the high prices, but they cant buy in the bulk of the huge places, so don't expect those prices. I love patronizing a family owned business. try and find help at Home Depot that knows the answers to your questions. I like that they play their music and being who they are. Being literally 2 buildings down from us, our handyman frequents this place very often for our hardware solutions. Ranging from a quick key copy to minor plumbing and electrical, one thing has always been certain is high quality and low prices. We are grateful for them being where they are at. I feel like every time I need a tool or some kind of home-improvement item, I have to schlep all the way to one of the big stores that are so far away from where I live. At least, I used to feel that way. Just the other day, we needed those little things you put under furniture so they don't mess up your floors when you slide the furniture around. You know, the felt thingies. So my wife was like, "Ugh, what time is INSERT BIG BOX STORE NAME HERE open 'til?" To which I replied, "Maybe NHH has them." We drove right over and guess what? They had three different kinds. I only needed one kind, but simply having the choice felt good. And I like to feel good. Especially about those little felt thingies that go under furniture to protect your floors. Everyone should feel this good. Everyone should go to NHH. read more

I have been coming to this mom and pop hardware store since I bought my home in Studio City over 17 years ago. EVERYONE in this store could NOT be more helpful! The store is ALWAYS spotlessly clean. The guys have been there forever... and that must mean that they are not just treated like workers... but actually a significant part of the owners business. Even the owners are VERY helpful. The prices might be a bit more for certain things..... BUT, think about the lines and travel time to a place like HD. This place usually has all my needs met. In the rare chance they don't... and it has happened.... they direct me to other places that might. I am usually in and out fast.... but the guys are so nice you chat and they know about your life.... NOTHING like a mom and pop business!! I could name names ... but fear I would leave out a name unjustly by accident. You REALLY should use this place.. 4 thumbs up.... including my two big toes! read more

I went to North Hollywood Hardware with my child for new batteries for her toy last week. have been there a few times before and everytime I go I am greeted with friendly helpful faces. This time one of the employees Grey went out of his way to help. He not only got the correct batteries but put them in so she could play with her toy right away. Not to mention how he was talking to her and making her smile and laugh. As a parent that meant alot. He got a big hug from her and she was so happy to have a working toy. I will definitely be shopping here again and hopefully Grey will be there to help. read more

I really wanted to like this hardware store, but I just had my second really negative experience! The guys who work there need to understand and practice good customer service skills. I stood at the counter for way too long and even said, "Excuse me ...", but the guy kept his back to me while he was busy texting on his phone. Then, I bought something ... went home, but it didn't work. Less than an hour later and with my receipt, I returned to the store to exchange the item. The guy refused and it was small $5.00 purchase. You'd think that for something so cheap, they'd be willing to budge ... at least to please the customer, but instead, they lost one (and the others I'll tell not to go there)! Jimmy is one of my favorite people in the world. I love going into the shop to browse and coming out with a whole new body of knowledge on whatever task I was attempting to carry out (I watch YouTube tutorials for home repair...). Jimmy makes everything sound so do-able and he's always willing to explain the steps and tips for whatever I'm trying to tackle. You really have to love these neighborhood hardware stores--the people who work there are totally available to give you advice and I didn't feel foolish for asking extremely basic questions. I needed to replace a sink stopper mechanism but wasn't 100% sure how to install it. I left feeling pretty good about getting the job done because the people at the NHH told me what's the most relevant part of the stopper mechanism to really pay attention to when I install it. I am finally reviewing this hardware store after many trips with different needs and not knowing what I needed for my "project". Every time I come to this store they help me immediately - no kidding - I have NEVER waited. I know very little about fixing things and every time they know exactly what it was that I need. This last time I needed to rewire a lamp and they found all of the parts necessary and I was on my way. I feel so comfortable here and that's a big deal as I am really out of my element in any hardware store. FIVE STARS for their customer service, neighborhood friendliness and for always having what I need. All of the guys are great but a special shout-out to James as he has helped me almost every visit. The person who helped me must have been having a weird day. Or maybe just bummed about the elections. He was helpful but then it got weird at the register. Then I read another review; it's possible I got this weird interaction bc I'm a woman. Don't know, but I paid with a card, he took the card ran it then just dropped the pen, receipt and card on the desk like FML and FYL. Then I tried to hand the pen back to him, you know like a civil person, and he walked away. I guess there really is a way to be helpful and assholey at the same time. I like to support my community and if all I need are little things, I will go to this hardware store but they are expensive which I might tolerate more if they were friendly. RUDE. The older gentleman which I assume to be the owner is OK however, the younger guys are just plain rude. I was just there yesterday for air filters. They guy literally just spat out the amount, handed me my receipt and went on to greet the next customer (who was a man).
