They don't stand behind their products or their customers. Tried returning a stud finder which is shoddy and they wouldn't take it back. "It's a tool," he says. Really, is it? Amazing! Big box stores would take back their defective wares, but not this place. Over-priced trinkets sold here once you brush off the dust. Tried supprting them, but they've wasted my time and money. I now have a $20 "tool" that should work, but, alas, it's turned into a brick. Back to bigger and better businesses for me. read more

These guys have 90% of the things I need and I feel good shopping there. Does it replace the big guys? No. But it's close to home and they always have cool music playing. If I have a question, there's always someone knowledgable that'll take the time to explain. read more

This place is more expensive than other stores; however, it's unparalleled in service. I've never NOT found what I'm looking for (within seconds) because A) They'll have it and B) They will break from whatever they're doing, without delay (unless with a customer), to help. 1. Expensive. 2. It doesn't matter. The time I've wasted in The Home Depot by driving and parking and searching and waiting is far more valuable than the extra bucks spent at NHH. 3. If I were buying in bulk for a significant project, I would consider going to a box store or another major supplier. Finally, the place is known by us locals as having the most extensive music catalog of any shop, and they do. Will you hear The Beastie Boys or Metallica or The Cure when you are checking out? TBD. I have been coming here for years and I have always found whatever I love have been looking for. Not a huge hardware store but somehow they manage to have everything you are looking for under one roof. The staff are extremely nice and knowledgeable and will go the extra step to make sure they help you out. read more

These guys are the best! I came in needing a certain size screw for my wheelchair and I left with a fixed wheel, the proper screwdriver to fix the chair if I had any future problems, and with my tires fully pumped up. James and the guys couldn't have been more helpful or nicer. I'm one of those girls who likes going into hardware stores to learn how to do things for myself, but having James fix my wheelchair for me so I could move around safely was a total Godsend. Nice friendly helpful people here. Obviously when you go to a small neighborhood type store instead of a big box, warehouse store you're going to pay a bit more but it's definitely worth it at this place. Unlike the bigger places, ie Home Depot etc there is always someone available to help you and they'll take the time to make sure you get what you need. This is my favorite hardware store. When I walk in the smell instantly teleports me back to going shopping with my dad when I was a kid. The selection is impeccable and so is the service. Been there LOTS of times. I find them to have the things that you wouldn't be able to find at Home Depot. But, at the same time, there are things you have to get at Home Depot that you can't find at NHH. I guess a small, neighborhood hardware store can't possibly have everything you find at a big-box place like Home Depot. The small stuff, they've got. I love this place!! Good prices and great selection in just about every category you might need for quick errands. 19/20 times they've had what we needed and saved us a trip to Home Depot. Pretty much anything they don't have in stock they can order in too. Staff is always friendly and helpful in an honest, down-to-earth way. Hey North Hollywood Hardware, I'm curious, do you talk to all your customers like they're idiots or just the women? Here I was trying to support a local business, rather than drive across town to the mega hardware store, my mistake. The guy "helping" me was so condescending, he badgered me about why I was buying what I was buying and probing about my project. I was so taken aback by his questioning, I didn't even know what to say so I'm sure I sounded like an idiot, which seemed to give him the satisfaction he was looking for. Two stars for having in stock the product I needed. Next time, I'll skip the third degree and go to the mega store. read more

Very friendly and attentive staff. Walked in and immediately was helped. Needed new screws for my license plate, and the guy searched for them for me, and even stepped outside to put my license plate back on. Even gave me some helpful advice for other matters pertaining to my car, and rather than try to sell me, he gave me great advice which was more centralized towards my needs. Very friendly and knowlegable - James is my personal favorite - and I'd never dream of going to another store. I love this place and the guys who work there. Close by, locally owned, and the guys are so professional and actually help you! It's small, but every time I need something, from duct tape to wood floor cleaner to light bulbs to a human mouse trap - they have it. It's my first stop before Home Depot or Lowe's. read more

Beware!! This place is crazy overpriced, and I have proof. With the current heatwave in LA, I needed to change my air filters. I went to this place and they had what I needed, but they only had one in stock and I needed two. After leaving this establishment, I went a ways down the street to ACE Hardware in Studio City.
