There was also a ton of shade, which was great for us, and plenty of walkways for rollerblading or going for a stroll. They also have a large playground for kids, bathrooms, and courts for tennis as well. The park is very clean, and everyone I encountered was polite and friendly.

I came here for the Memorial Day ceremony. I had never been to this park before and didn't know it…read morehad memorial plaques for people in our city who died in various wars. The ceremony included reading each of their names out loud and placing a rose on the plaque that matched the war they died in. WWII had the most roses and deaths. They had one of the fire trucks lift up a huge American flag next to the regular sized flags of the branches of our military which surround a pilar with a live flame. There was also a live band, singers, and flybys by planes in formation. It was a very solemn and respectful ceremony to honor those who died on duty. After the ceremony, I stayed at the park for a bit longer laying a towel on the grass under a tree. I don't know if it was just the spot I picked, but even though it was really grassy, underneath it was really muddy, like when I finally got up my towel was soaked through and so was my back. Then I got lost trying to find where I parked because the park is bigger than it looks and has 3 parking lots. I thought there was only 1, so I didn't pay that much attention when I walked towards the ceremony. When I tried getting back to my car I honestly thought it might have been towed. Now I know there's a parking lot by the building that leads to the swimming pool, another next to the swimming pool itself so you can actually see the water, and the last one is next to the tennis courts and baseball field. This doesn't include the parking spots all around the perimeter of the park. The park is clean, has plenty of playgrounds for children, tables and benches to eat at, and a public restroom. It's not the quietest of parks, though, since there are so many children and it's next to a busy intersection, like during the ceremony a trash truck and a random car honked their horns in support of the ceremony. Otherwise, it really is a nice park with plenty of amenities.

I've thankfully been able to get back to working out with the help of the kids classes and their child care center. My kids have grown to love the staff, it's been truly welcoming in that regard. I would also like to shoutout Jazmine at the front desk. She was able to talk me into signing up for a membership and swim lessons for my two boys. I was honestly all over the place when I came into their gym, hadn't done much research. But after a quick tour and conversation with Jazmine turned things around. Make sure to work with her if you ever get logged out of your account. I've embarrassingly enough have needed to change my password thrice. But yes overall 5 stars, I'm glad to have such a nice establishment in my area. The gym itself is nice, good equipment and cold. The other customers seem to understand gym etiquette. The last service I will recommend is their free food program. As a single mother of two I will gladly accept assistance. Again thankfully to the conversation with Jasmin, she was able to sign me up.

My three children have attended YMCA sleepaway camp for the past three years, and until this year,…read morewe had always had a positive experience. This week, my daughter developed pink eye. Around 10:00 a.m., the camp contacted me, took her to Big Bear Urgent Care, and kept me informed throughout the medical visit. She was diagnosed with bacterial conjunctivitis and prescribed antibiotic eye drops. I appreciated the prompt medical attention and communication. Later that afternoon, I was informed that I needed to drive to camp to pick her up. As a Public Health Nurse, I understand the importance of infection control and protecting other campers. What deeply upset me was not the decision to send her home--it was how she says she was treated while waiting for me. When I arrived at 7 pm after a three-hour drive, my daughter was in tears. She told me she had been isolated since the night before in a single cabin room by herself, with the door kept closed. (So that was approximately 23 hours? An 11 yrs old girl isolated for, well minus 3 hrs for urgent care lets say, 20 hours?) She said she wasn't allowed or offered to participate in even solo activities and had very little interaction with anyone. When she went to the restroom, she overheard staff whispered to other staff, "Be careful, she might touch everything, just spray the bathroom." She also stated that her meals were taken into her single cabin room, placed far away from her, so the Camp Director who brought it in wouldn't be too close to her (even though its bacterial infection and spread through direct contact- it was NOT an airborne or droplet precautions), making her feel like people were afraid to come near her. She told me she felt like she was "in prison." Whether every detail happened exactly as she perceived it or not, that was her experience, and no child should leave camp feeling frightened, ashamed, or treated like they are less than a person because they became ill. I fully support reasonable precautions for contagious illnesses. However, children also deserve COMPASSION, REASSURANCE, and human KINDNESS while waiting for their parents to arrive. Especially from the Camp Director. We have loved YMCA sleepaway camp for years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I hope the camp reviews how children in medical isolation are cared for and trains staff to balance infection control with empathy. Unfortunately, after this experience, our family will not be returning.

Over the last few months, I visited several times, and each time there was a young employee named Vardges who consistently went above and beyond. He was incredibly helpful, patient, and genuinely kind -- the sort of person who doesn't just do his job well but quietly elevates the entire atmosphere around him. What stood out most was the way he interacted with my young daughter. His patience and warmth toward her were sincere and unwavering, and that kind of care stays with a parent. It certainly stayed with me. People like Vardges make a real difference in their community, often without realizing it. I truly hope he gets the recognition he deserves. Thank you, Vardges, for setting such a wonderful example and for making every visit better than the last.

Their professionalism, energy, and dedication are truly the heart of this club. However, my recent experiences have caused me to reconsider continuing my membership. The removal of the cycling classes was disappointing, as they were an important and enjoyable part of my routine. Even more concerning was the decision to store the cycling bikes in the dance studio used for Zumba and Body Pump. This has significantly reduced the available space, creating a cramped environment and noticeably increasing the room temperature. This would be challenging under any circumstances, but it is especially problematic given the lack of a functional air conditioning system. Members have raised this concern with local staff repeatedly over several months, yet the issue remains unresolved. It is frustrating to see resources allocated toward dismantling the basketball courts while such a critical comfort and safety issue continues to be overlooked. Additionally, the new parking system has added another layer of inconvenience to the overall experience. After more than a decade of loyalty, it is disheartening to feel that the quality of the club has declined so substantially. I sincerely hope to see meaningful and timely improvements, as I would prefer to remain a member, but without change, I will unfortunately have to reconsider.
