Went for happy hour. A group of us went and most of us are seniors. You can only sit at high top tables to take advantage of happy hour which it would be nice if they allowed us to sit at a regular table. Maybe they could designate a couple of lower top tables for happy hours. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was really good and right on top of everything. The food I had the happy hour Marguerite pizza and it was good very large, which was nice. I brought half at home. We probably won't be going back because of the tables and we do go out as a group at least once a week so unfortunately, they will lose our business. We love coming here during my husband's work weeks. It is easy to make a reservation and they always have a table waiting for us. We usually get a pizza and the Farmers Board to share, along with a couple of cocktails or a glass of wine. I adore that Farmers Board. The pizza is also top-notch. Know that it gets wildly loud in here, and some of the booths are super close, so I can't really recommend this place for a date night. The best thing about this place is the service. The last time we dined in, we had a very minor issue (so minor it didn't really bother us) but the blip was immediately addressed by a server, a manager, and even an adjustment to the bill. Wow! Came in on a Monday night. The location looks nice, big space nice patio. Our server who also happened to be a bartender was nice and friendly initially. Ordered the truffle garlic bread which was amazing. Also got the beef ragu and spicy vodka penne. Both were tasty good sauces and pasta was good quality. What leads me to give this place only 3 stars was the service was extremely slow. There was plenty of staff it seemed. By the time we ordered our entrees it took about 30-35 mins for them to arrive at the table, our server had gone MIA after this point. I saw other tables by us get their orders before us. Perhaps this was a side effect of sitting in the bar top area. I'd like to give this place another try as the food was good quality. At a high level this place looks like it's a top notch restaurant. It kills me when a place of this caliber has crappy service where a place like Chili's is more attentive. Totally kills what it's trying to accomplish. read more

My husband and I have been to several North locations and really enjoy them. We even have a new tradition of going on Christmas Eve to the Gilbert location. We had a 315 lunch reservation for 4 on a Tuesday. We were sat on time and there were only a few other tables. With the Restaurant Week special menu you get an app, meal, and gelato. We ordered pretty quickly. We noticed tables around us getting their meals before we got our apps, and they were sat after us. Our appetizers came out at 4, about 45 minutes after we ordered. The meal came about 20 minutes later. By the time we paid and left it was after 5. It shouldn't take almost 2 hours for lunch. The food was also subpar this time. I ordered the avocado salad as an appetizer, it had no dressing. It was dry and hard to eat. The eggplant sandwich was not good. I love the eggplant appetizer, but the eggplant on the sandwich was not cooked enough. It wasn't tender, it was firm. However, the pistachio gelato was great and the rainbow after the meal storm. The food is always amazing here. We had a bigger party. ( 9 of us) so I was expecting someone to have an issue with something. But everyone raved about how the food was so Delicious. My husband's Grandma has some major Health issues and she doesn't eat maybe a few bites. She got the Banana Coffee cake and ate almost the whole thing. It's a huge portion. But she loved it. Which got everyone talking. How delicious each dish was. This is our 4th time coming in the past year. Every time everyone raves about the food. We even had a party of 20 and the same results. We're blessed to have a North Italia in Gilbert. We love coming here for family get togethers like birthdays, holidays since they have something that everyone likes. My favorites are the bolognese and white truffle bread. Their pizzas are great as well get it bomba style which is a cheese dip on the side so good. The short rib is also very rich and hearty. The service is always great here which I feel has been consistent. Ambiance feels nice family friendly. Very open space and noise level is not bad. Desserts are also must try! Having traveled to Italy and very in step with good Italian food, I was very happy with this visit here with a friend colleague. The place is gorgeous and when we arrived for dinner at 6:45pm, the place was swarming with lot of people! That's a good sign. We made reservations and were seated in a booth in the middle of the restaurant. This place is huge and also with a nice bar area and big TVs. We had a lovely waiter and my dining mate was interested in a glass of wine and since it's the summer, we went with a sparkling rose and my friend wanted a new bottle opened. Sparkling rose was great! We both also opted for the branzino and that was just delicious, reminded me of the summer I was in Sardinia and plenty of meals I had in NYC. There was a squid ink pasta on the menu and I would've loved to try that and I'll be back to have that next time. What was the cherry on top of this dining experience was the tiramisu. I'm not a fan of the typical tiramisu but this was made more like a pudding and that worked really for me! I loved this dessert and would come back just for this! My friend got the Tuscan Hash with short ribs and that piece of short rib was soo tender and melt in your mouth good! I got the americano, which was good but basically your standard eggs, bacon and hash brown balls. Good but not the best thing on the menu. The French toast is THICK and definitely savory. We had a reservation for 7:30pm for 13 people, and showed up right on time. We ended up not getting sat down until around 7:55 which was a little disappointing considering we made the reservation over a week in advance. That was the first thing. Secondly food was not all that great, considering being an Italian place. 3 of us ordered the bolognese and was definitely not impressed. Was really Just no sauce on any of them, felt more like just eating a buttered noodle. Well, what I got was NOT bucatini. This isn't some obscure noodle nobody knows about--I expect an Italian restaurant to know the difference between pasta shapes. And this isn't the first time it's happened. The first time, I thought, okay, maybe it's a mistake, no big deal. But twice? Are you kidding me? It's like they think customers don't notice or care. This is just lazy. If I'm paying good money for an Italian dish, I expect it to be what's advertised. It's the basics. Get it right. I have been to North a couple times for happy hour with girlfriends, where we always do their awesome deal of bottle and board or bottle and pizza. But I was craving a good sandwich, and I was searching for different places for lunch to find one, and I liked that North had a few different sandwiches that all sounded good. I went with my husband this time (which this was his first time going), and we went around 2:00 in the afternoon. The parking lot always has plenty of parking (more at the back of the restaurant), as it shares parking with another restaurant and it does get very busy over there at nighttime or weekends. For being later in the afternoon, I was surprised how many people were in there for lunch at that time. Our server (I wish I remembered her name) was AMAZING! She was so friendly and nice, and whenever I asked her for recommendations she made everything sound so delicious when she described it! She truly seemed like she loved her job and I really love being around people like that. And she checked in on us, just the right amount of times. I, of course, took her recommendation that I should get the Spicy Italian Grinder sandwich, that her husband asks her to bring one home all the time. I am so glad i listened to her. It was so delicoius! It was exactly what I was craving, it was a very generous size and lots of meat, the bread was soft and the whole sandwich was super flavorful. I also loved the parmesan fries it comes with, I was just sad there wasn't more fries on the plate haha. My husband likes pasta but we never go out for it, so he was excited he got to go somewhere that he could get it. He ordered the Tortelloni Al Pomodoro, and he loved it. He gave me a taste and I am not one to order pasta, but I even liked it. He is not one to rave about food, but he kepts talking about how much he liked his pasta all day. Since the server was so good at making us want everything on the menu, my husband and I will definitely be back for the Hot Honey and Smoked Prosciutto pizza and the lemon olive oil cake. Let me preface this by saying I usually love north! Before Sam Fox sold it, the Arcadia location was my go to birthday dinner spot. In Gilbert you get the same beautiful cool Atmosphere and lots of natural light. I was put off when we asked for a high chair and they told us it was a bad table to have a high chair (I asked for the high chair before we were sat, so why didn't they offer us a different table?) We went for lunch on a Sunday, so I got the chopped chicken salad which I usually love. The salad was so over dressed it was almost inedible. It is a great dish but order the dressing on the side! Also wish they chopped the chicken into bite sized pieces. I don't love a salad you have to use a knife on. The zucchini chips are usually a go to as a starter. So salty and crisp! I did miss the lemon aioli it used to come with. I guess they don't have that anymore - darn! My husband's spicy meatball pizza was really good, and the kids meatball and spaghetti portions were huge for my toddlers. Service was slow, but they were kind! First time coming in since the menu change....we've been to North Italia more times than I can count and almost always get the short rib lumache or the short rib entree...well we came in tonight and the menu has changed, now it's short rib on top of a white béchamel lasagna and the entree is short rib Marsala. We ordered the zucca chips (which now come with an awesome pesto dipping sauce btw) and shared the simple salad before putting in our entrees. The wife was set on the short rib lumache (which she subs with gluten free pasta) but since it was no longer on the menu picked something else while I ordered the short rib lasagna before mentioning to our waiter how much I loved the old version. He was quick to mention all their pasta dishes are scratch made and they certainly could make the old versions. My wife quickly changed to the old version while I stuck with the lasagna as it might be good change. Both ended up being delicious, I probably prefer the old lumache version but I don't think you can go wrong with the new lasagna (it is extremely rich though!!). The food, however, has definitely gone down hill each time I've gone. We ordered the zucchini chips for appetizer. They arrived soggy! For my entree I ordered the bolognese which I have had in the past. The pasta was overcooked. Bolognese is a meat sauce and it definitely did not have a lot of meat. Love North Italia! First time trying the one in Gilbert with friends. The Zucca chips are my favorite! I wanted to try their brunch as I've never had it but I do love pizza as well. I got the Margherita pizza and tried some of my friends French toast cannoli. It was delicious! I got to have both breakfast type foods and my pizza. Our server Trevor was excellent!
