The meat is so tender and goes so well with the sauce. If you're a huge fan of pesto you'll love the chicken pesto, it's so fresh and delicious. Heads-up: they don't honor restaurant week deals during brunch--only lunch and dinner. When we asked when lunch started, we were told they don't serve lunch on Sundays, just brunch and dinner. Would've been nice if that had been clearly noted on the restaurant week info. The ambiance is clean, open, and inviting, with plenty of seating indoors, outdoors, and at the bar. The open kitchen is a cool feature, though hard to see clearly through the reflections. What I could see looked great--very clean with a crew hustling hard. Service was hit-or-miss. The hostess was less than welcoming despite the place being half full, if that, and sat us at a wobbly table. That said, the staff fixed it quickly when asked. My Peach Bellini arrived in a sticky, wet glass, but the waitress handled it well--brought it back cleaned and brought a fresh one for the trouble. Food-wise: we split the Cacio e Pepe pizza and WOW! Absolute star of the show. It's the kind of pizza you rave about later and suddenly find yourself craving again. The Strozzapreti pasta was good--the sauce and mushrooms added great depth--but it couldn't top that pizza. I've been to North Italia before and had great experiences. Our experience here last weekend was no exception. We were a party of five, including me, and I was the only person who had been to North Italia before. We were seated quickly with our reservation and greeted by our server. Our table shared the cacio e pepe arancini and the white truffle garlic bread. Everyone was raving about how good the food was. For my meal, I had the chicken parmigiana. Despite coming during the weekend when the brunch menu was served, no one had any issue finding something to eat. One member of our party had an omelet and had only good things to say. Im not understanding the excellent reviews. We had a terrible experience the moment we walked through the door. The hostesses literally made me feel like I was back in high-school as they snickered and gave attitude. It was strange! Once we finally got seated we waited. And waited. And waited. No one came to bring us water or even give us menus! My husband had to get up and get our own menus! Finally once we sat down we quickly realized as a vegetarian you simply can not eat here. I thought italian... pasta... we can always find something. Nope! So once they finally came to order our food (30 min later) we asked for suggestions from the waitress. She was snarky and literally said "this is not the place for you, you should go next door to Flower Child". So we did just that. Went there for our daughter's 25th birthday. The server was fabulous, however none of us were ecstatic about our meals. There were 8 of us and the bill was $260 plus $55 tip. The meatballs in my meal were really hard and the pasta was way undercooked. I understand Al dente, but this was not. The bolognese sauce wasn't great either and I make a better sauce than theirs. We could have stayed home and had a better meal. Sorry, I'm sure some people are satisfied with their food, but we were disappointed. Wow this place gets busy. The two times we came here the place was slammed. The place is very cool and modern. A lot of natural lighting and very spacious. Food has service both times were perfect. Service was very friendly and attentive. Italian food in the West isn't nearly as good as the North East but for Arizona, NI is as good as it gets. I was craving arancini so I decided to look around and find a nice Italian restaurant. This place definitely fulfilled my cravings. The arancini was crispy and delicious. I also tried the Tonnarelli and the lasagna, they were both good, but the lasagna was incredible. I will definitely get it again next time. I have eaten here a few times ordering in. A friend of mine and I decided to go in person and give it a try. Let me tell you, this place did not disappoint! We typically share a pizza, salad and pasta, it is enough for both of us to be very full but not stuffed. They were nice enough to split up the salad and pasta so we didn't have to divide it up our self which was really nice. Our waiter was great, super friendly and helpful! He was awesome, I wish I would have remembered his name, but he was out on the patio on a Sunday. Also, the patio seating is lovely, it was a wonderful time with great food. The North Italia in Gilbert is phenomenal. I have heard they can be pretty hit or miss. Specifically when speaking with family members who have gone to California locations. This one is wonderful. I'm not going to rate a specific meal because I think I've been here 10 times now, mostly trying different meals every time, from their brunch, to the chicken/beet salad, to the pizzas and pastas. I've never had a bad meal here. Most are 5 stars and a couple are 4 but they still average a 5 star meal in my book. The ONLY criticism I have is the kids pizza. Don't y'all know kids won't eat blackened crust?!?! It's okay, they still love the chicken fingers. I'll forgive you. read more

We love north & surprised I haven't left a review!! Only complaint is the wait when you don't have a reservation!! Tonight there were three of us and we were able to get right in at the bar. I didn't take any pics! My son got the braised shortrib lasagna, it was smaller than expected, but very rich and delicious! He didn't finish it but ate a few bites of my hubby's chicken Parm and said he'd get it next time! Came here for a business lunch and it was great! We had a party of seven and they were able to see us right away at 1:30 on a Wednesday. The place did not seem too busy. We obviously ordered many things. All in all, everybody seem to enjoy their food, and I can only speak for what I eat. I had the Italian farm salad, and it came out with a beautiful presentation and looked delicious. There were a lot of textual elements and it's a pretty decent size. I will say the dressing was a little underwhelming and I found myself adding salt and pepper to liven it up a bit. The spicy meatball pizza was a crowd favorite also. This was pretty much everybody's first time coming here and they loved it. I was a returning guest, and I find the food to be pretty good. There are some items that are, exceptional, and others that leave you wanting more. I don't think I have found my sweet spot with North yet. My salad was rather expensive, coming in at $18 after tax. I will say this is not a place for a quick, cheap lunch. If you're looking to sit down and have higher quality food but also at a higher price point, this is the place. First time dining at this specific location. Had the opportunity to try it out during our monthly group dinner. What we ordered: -White truffle garlic bread: a classic, you can never go wrong with at North -Wild shrimp scampi: tasted standard -Calamari fritti: tasted standard -Seasonal vegetable salad: one of our classic favorites -Pepperoni pizza: tasted standard -Braised short rib: the person who ordered this didn't care for how it tasted, but everyone else who tried a bite of it thought it was okay. -Spicy rigatoni vodka: tasted standard -Roasted salmon: tasted standard -Roasted porchetta: we ordered two of these and one tasted delicious. The second one, however, was way too salty and most of it was very hard to cut and chew. Overall, this location is decorated similarly to other North Italia locations, the only difference seems to be that the space seems bigger than some of the other locations I've been to in the state. North Italia Chandler! You can do better than this! First, let me begin by saying that I love this restaurant. I live in LA and frequent the Santa Monica and South Bay locations frequently. As such, I was more than surprised when I ordered the seasonal roasted vegetables online (via DoorDash) thinking I was getting a hearty serving of seasonal vegetables consistent with the photo. Well, what I received was, well far from it. Normally, this type of thing wouldn't bother me but given the cost of food altogether, I think that restaurants have to start being mindful and on par with what they're advertising. You be the judge! Tried North Italia for the first time was super excited about the menu and opportunity to try. The atmosphere was romantic and tastefully designed do you look like you were in Italy. The waitress was very sweet and even allowed us to taste a couple of the wines before ordering a full glass. My party and I were not impressed with the pasta while it was homemade. The quality was very similar to the fast food Sauce restaurant for triple the price. We also tried the pumpkin butter cake dessert, which was very delicious. My bestie and I met here one afternoon for brunch and she recommended the meatballs. We also ordered the garlic truffle bread and holy moly the meatballs were to die for! Paired with this garlicky cheesy amazing bread! We also ordered a side of broccolini, the broccolini was not for us but looking around I cannot wait to go back in and try the pasta and pizza. Food served in a reasonable time frame and with a smile from all the servers. I was told that the soup of the day (tomato-basil?) was excellent (but was also reported as just okay from another person in the party), beet salad was tasty but again not fabulous, chicken pesto pasta was garlicky and tasty with enough sauce to cover both the pasta and the chicken. Disappointed with the DRY Tiramisu. The little chocolate balls and cocoa powder on top made the dessert look promising but it was dry with one layer of cream and zero espresso. The cake (ladyfingers not likely!) was dry on the bottom, no liquid---so, if you want dry white cake with powdered cocoa, order the tiramisu. Happy hour starts at 3 and it's a decent menu .. something for everyone. Flies, Forks & Flavor: A Mixed Bag at North Italia Visited North Italia on a weekday expecting a relaxed dinner, but the place was buzzing--literally. While the vibe was lively and the drinks as dependable as ever (that mojito? 10/10), the experience wasn't without a few bumps. Let's start with the good: Lasagna--rich, cheesy, and absolutely delicious. Mojito--refreshing, well-balanced, and a highlight of the evening. Ambiance--chic and energetic, though definitely on the louder side. Now the not-so-great: We were swarmed by flies during our appetizer (meatballs), and it didn't stop once the entrées arrived. It was hard to relax and enjoy the meal while constantly fending them off. The bolognese wasn't my favorite--missing the depth I expected. Parking was a challenge, and the wait time for a table was surprisingly long for a weekday. I get that North Italia is a popular spot, and I've had better experiences here before. But the fly situation was a real distraction this time. Hopefully just a fluke, because there is greatness on the menu--it just got overshadowed by the unexpected guests. Their roasted salmon is a great healthy dinner option because it's healthy but DELICIOUS. I've also had their The Pig pizza which comes with sopressatta, salumi, spicy pepperoni and italian sausage. We had a reservation and had to wait maybe 10 mins to be seated, for us, not a big deal. Especially when a restaurant is busy. We were seated on the outside patio which is covered, has fans and cooler so it felt good even with it being 90+ degrees outside. Our table was dirty (oops) but they tended to that quickly and got it wiped down. Almost twice as two separate people came to tend to it. I'm not joking when I say everything we ate was 10/10. But first a foremost our waitress Tess, (I really hope I have the right name) was a 15/10. She was the perfect amount of attentive. On to the food.... The Garlic Truffle bread was so good. The Ricotta cheese spread was great. We ran out of bread so we ended up eating the cheese by itself at the end as we didn't want to waste it, it was so good. Then onto the Vegetable salad. Perfection. And the star of the show, The Ricotta Cavatelli was fantastic. Definitely for a seafood lover. Would 100% return and order all the same things. read more
