We waited about ten minutes before being placed at a table. It seems the hostesses need an education on how to quickly seat people. This was really the only qualm I have for the entire experience. I ordered the short rib lumache and a Caesar salad. Both were amazing. The short rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender and seasoned to perfection. The salad had ample dressing and wonderful croutons. I hadn't been back here in almost 10 years despite living fairly close to it. Not for any particular reason, but I regret not going back sooner!!! This is such a great Italian spot, and I think the options they have are so solid. It is a huge, clean space, they have great service, and you can see them making pasta from scratch in the back! Because of the popularity of the restaraunt, it might be hard to flag down your waiter for service so try to get everything in one go. We got the ricotta cavatelli and bolognese. The ricotta cavatelli had a buttery rich lemony flavor, not oily or heavy and some substantial chunks. The bolognese had a nice deep tomato flavor and both pastas were cooked relatively al dente. This was my first time having brunch at North Italia. I enjoyed it. The breakfast board is absolute perfection. Its the perfect charcuterie board meant for breakfast. The caramelized onion frittata is dream worthy. Add the prosciutto to your board, you won't regret it! The argula salad and cheese with bread are all fantastic. I could eat this board every day. We also had the breakfast pizza and the donuts. The sausage on the pizza was a bit too spicy for me. The donuts were great, but a bit too sweet for me. The rigatoni vodka wasn't creamy at all which I was expecting. The squid was spicy but it wasn't in the description so that was a bit surprising. The shrimp scampi was quite good, very garlicky. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The service is always solid unless you get them on a off day which happens to the best of us, and the food is consistent a bit pricey but you're also paying for the ambience itself. If there is one thing I would pass on, it's the desserts. Hubby and I were visiting California and in the Irvine area, so we decided to stop by North Italia, a place we hadn't been to in a while. We were seated quickly at the bustling bar, and after settling in, our server, Angela M, (septum ring in her nose) brought us menus. Within 10 minutes, she asked if we wanted something to drink. My husband ordered a pitcher of red sangria, and I took a sip. Suddenly, I was done looking at the menu and ready to order. We were seated in limbo for 35 minutes, waiting for Angela M to return with water and ask us what we wanted to eat. It was frustrating because she was serving everyone else, talking to the customers next to us, and not once did she offer us water or ask about our order. I wondered if it was a racial issue or if she was simply a poor server. I was watching her serve everyone else except for us, which was quite interesting. I could have made a big deal, called the manager, and had a complete meltdown because of the terrible service. But I didn't. We just sat there and waited until the bartender turned to us and asked if anyone had served us yet. My husband had to answer him because I was so upset. We finally ordered our food, but my appetite had completely vanished. My husband placed the credit charge in the glass so we could pay. Would you believe that Angela M came out of nowhere and asked us how the meal was? She proceeded to process our bill. The only thing I could do was swallow hard and sign my credit card slip. On the tip line, I wrote a zero. We explained to the bartender that this wasn't a reflection of his service but of Angela M's. He completely understood. I hope North Italia takes this as a lesson learned and trains certain staff members again or has a brief conversation with Angela M about what customer service means. Great service can make all the difference between a 0 tip and a 25% tip. Hopefully, this incident will never happen again to another person again. read more

The breast was fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Calamari (5/5): Very big pieces and comes with marinara and spicy mayo sauce. Definitely solid. Yellow tail Crudo (4/5): this raw fish looked a bit disorganized but it was still good. The flavor wasn't as strong, but it satisfied my sushi cravings. Funghi Pizza (5/5); This pizza blew me away. The mushroom flavor was potent and the crust was so fluffy. One of the best pizzas I've had. Cacio e Pepe (5/5): Super cheesy and the pepper flavor was strong. I enjoyed how fluffy the crust was. Finally had dinner at North Italia after driving by it for years. We came for dinner on a weekend with reservations. If you're familiar with this shopping center then you already know parking is horrible so we chose to valet. The sign says cash only but they take credit cards. The menu has a lot to offer and I was happy to see they have mocktails. For apps we got the house made focaccia and calamari. The calamari had a unique breading that I didn't care for but the rest of my group loved it. Next time I'll go straight for the focaccia. So I was excited to come here because I saw they had a lunch special deal. However, they failed to tell you that it expired on May 31 very disappointed. The restaurant also says it opens at 11 AM. We got there at 11:07, and they were still not ready for all the guests. We ended up waiting outside for another 5 to 10 minutes before we were even seated. Service was decent. However our Stromboli came out before our steak salad. Thought that was very odd, since a salad is pretty much just the raw vegetables. My friend did ask for her steak well done, however, it came out tough as can be, and it was also burnt. But since that came out last, we didn't want to send it back. The vegetables itself was fresh and crispy though. Stromboli was good. I also said we were celebrating my friend's birthday. They are doing this summer menu during lunch where you get a choice of appetizer + entree for $25. We came to North Italia to celebrate a very special occasion, our wedding anniversary as well as our Maid of Honor and Best Man's anniversary (yes we were married exactly one year apart from each other). We had traveled in from out of town that day, and because our husbands are best friends, my Maid of Honor and I had planned this dinner as a surprise so they could unexpectedly see each other and celebrate together. It was a long day for us since we had been driving for 8 hours and just looked forward to our anniversary dinner together. I made the reservation about a month in advance and specifically requested outdoor seating. I was told that they would accommodate the request. We were especially looking forward to sitting outside, relaxing, ordering some drinks and appetizers, and really enjoying the evening after a long drive and reconnecting with our friends. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were taken to a table inside. I asked the host about the outdoor seating and was simply told that it wasn't available. I understand that things can change and that reservations for outdoor tables aren't always guaranteed, but it was disappointing that there wasn't really any attempt to acknowledge the special occasion or find an alternative that might have made the experience feel a little more accommodating. The service throughout the meal was also disappointing. We sat down and waited, and it felt like quite a while before our server came over to take our drink order. We ordered three appetizers, and all three arrived before our drinks did. Once we finally received our drinks, we ordered our entrées. While waiting for our food, I finished my drink and was hoping to order a bottle of wine for my husband and me to share. I tried several times to get our server's attention but wasn't able to. Eventually our food arrived, and I gave up on ordering the wine because by that point we were already eating and the opportunity had essentially passed. What bothered me most was the lack of attentiveness during the meal. About five minutes after our food arrived, our server came by and dropped off the dessert menu without asking how everything was, whether we were enjoying our food, or whether we needed anything else. She also didn't take away my empty champagne flute. She simply mentioned that, because it was our anniversary, we could order one dessert per couple and then walked away. We did appreciate the complimentary desserts, and I want to be clear that none of us had any complaints about the food. The food was good. But for us, going out to dinner, especially for a duel anniversary, is about more than just the food. It's about the overall experience. When you're spending the money to celebrate a special occasion, attentive and thoughtful service can make an ordinary dinner feel memorable. Small things like checking in on the table, noticing an empty glass, asking how the food is, or making an effort to accommodate a request can make a huge difference. We weren't expecting special treatment or anything extravagant. We simply hoped that the restaurant and its staff would recognize that this was an important evening for us and make a little effort to help us enjoy it. I'm leaving this review because I genuinely hope it can be used as constructive feedback. The food was enjoyable, but the service and overall experience did not live up to what we had hoped for when we planned this celebration a month in advance. Once my sandwich arrived, I dove in, and it was good! I wish the chicken was a little meatier and juicy, though. I also didn't really taste too much of the mozzarella and provolone. I love that melted cheese you get with the bite, but it sort of was lacking. The sauces were prevalent and tasty. It wasn't the best I've had, but still good, nonetheless. Our set menu came with some apps for the tables to share (zucca chips and white truffle garlic bread. I opted for the seasonal vegetable salad. Dessert was salted caramel budino and tiramisu for the table. I I don't think North Italia is a restaurant I would've picked to dine at but I am so happy I got to experience it through this birthday event. The Cacio e pepe Arancini was good i love the flavors and texture, but "crispy risotto" is mixed with regular risotto on the inside.. so it kinda just tastes like some pieces of risotto are stale/not cooked. The roasted salmon was also very promising with a flavor palette I adore - but in the end, I was not blown away and all the flavors were very very subtle. There was a beautiful outdoor section and the place was so airy and had a lot of natural light. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We got yellowtail crudo to start which was topped with some avocado, citrus, oil, and pistachio. So flavorful and the yellowtail was not chewy at all. I got a seasonal salad with salmon for my entree which came with green goddess dressing. The salmon was cooked medium rare and was nice and flaky. Very cute place for a work lunch or celebratory drinks/food. The indoor area Is brightly lit with lots of windows, and there is a lot of covered outdoor seating. We tried the following: - White truffle garlic bread: ICONIC, greasy, delicious. The best thing that I tried, super decadent and very truffle-y. - Calamari fritti: good ratio of squid to breading. Juicy, and came with a flavorful pairing of dipping sauces (marinara and thousand island-esque). Some grilled vegetables underneath. - Strozzapreti: decadent, creamy pasta with delicious pine nuts.
