This was my second time visiting this restaurant -- my first visit was years ago -- and I came back to celebrate a friend's birthday. Overall, the food, drinks, and atmosphere were great, but unfortunately the hostess experience kept it from being a full 5-star night. I had a 7:30 reservation and arrived at 7:35, but waited nearly 10 minutes before being acknowledged. The hostess was quite rude and told me we had lost our table because we were "late," even though I had been standing there waiting to be helped. She eventually seated us at a dirty table and the overall interaction felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. Thankfully, our server Omar completely turned the night around -- he was kind, attentive, and very helpful. The manager Dave was also amazing and made sure we were taken care of. The food and drinks were excellent. The cocktails were delicious, the hummus with warm pita was fantastic (definitely ask for extra bread!), and the melted cheese with toasted bread was a highlight. The fries were uniquely cut and perfectly cooked, and the calamari was top-notch. The view and ambiance make this a great place to relax with friends over tapas and drinks. This place gets a 10/10 on everything for me! Food was great, service was good, atmosphere and view were beautiful, and it was such a good place to have drinks and apps with friends! Had dinner and drinks here recently to catch up with a friend. It was a Saturday night so we expected it to be busy, nothing out of the ordinary. But something that was, I'm pretty sure our server was drunk. His attitude towards us was just completely unprofessional, his words were slurring, and at one point he even asked my friend "You got a problem or something?" when we tried ordering more drinks. He stopped coming to the table all together which made the rest of the evening difficult having to flag him down for the check or something else. This place has a beautiful view and is the perfect place to catch the sunset. I went last night and 1/3 of the place was reserved for a private party, 1/3 was closed off for no reason and the other 1/3 was where they wanted all the people to gather. It was a small area near the bar and elevator and we had no view, so we asked to get seated elsewhere and they said there was nothing available. I was a bit confused since people kept walking in and getting seated elsewhere. For drinks, I ordered champagne and it came in the worst glass I have ever seen (pictured below). For $18, I want a better presentation. My friend got a tequila drink with chamoy and it was soooo sweet and was mostly ice for $23. I won't be back. read more

Came here on a Saturday just after 4pm with no reservation mid-January and were seated right away. Great rooftop chic ambiance. We got the jalapeño margarita, orange beer, blonde beer, and a rose, the sliders, and a cheese bread appetizer. Food was OK. Total was less than $112 before tip. Parking is valet only and $15. Was a nice sized rooftop space and the day was clear and sunny so was very inviting. Heard the view is better at night so may think about stopping by again in the future. On the other hand the food was just so-so. We ordered the beef sliders which were just meh and the beignets which were cold and dry. Maybe we ordered the wrong appetizers. The drinks were also ok. My friend had their espressomartini and "the siren" specialty drinks which I also had and was delish! I also tried the "spectrum sunset" which was okay. By the time we'd all arrived, ordered and finished our drinks and appetizers we were over the 90 minute limit and asked to leave as the following reservation had been waiting for our spot. Drinks were good, food was fair. This wasn't our crowd, mostly in our 50s the rest of the patrons were 40s and younger. Felt like a hipster hangout. Prices are on the top end of reasonable. One of my favorite spots in Irvine for happy hour or a girls' night out! This rooftop bar is located inside the Marriott near Irvine Spectrum. The rooftop views are stunning, especially during sunset and the atmosphere really comes alive on Friday nights with live DJs. The staff and bartenders have always been super friendly and attentive every time I've visited. I usually make a reservation ahead of time. Im not sure if they accept walk-ins, so I'd recommend booking in advance just to be safe. Keep in mind, parking is valet-only at the hotel. The food is decent and great for sharing with a group. My friends and I were looking for a place where we could dance and have some drinks - but didn't want to go to a club. After searching around, someone recommended this place and we thought it might be fun. When we got here on a weekend evening, it was packed. After roaming around and talking to a few staff members, we found out that while the tables are reserved, after a certain time (10?), if a table was unattended (either no one showed up or the people left), they were up for grabs. We got some drinks and and roamed around some more - took some pictures, admired the views, thought about who lived in the buildings across from the rooftop bar and tried to dance (the dance floor itself was small, but plenty of space around tables and everywhere to dance). After a little bit, a table opened up and we took a seat. We ordered some food, my friends ordered another round of drinks and we caught up. The drinks were decent - my friends liked theirs and I enjoyed my lemonade. The food/snacks that we ordered were good - I'd like to try more items from the menu if we go back. Of course, since it IS a bar with dance music, it was loud. We could hear each other over the music, but having a deep conversation would have not been feasible. The views were amazing and obviously the photo ops. We did valet park, so also account for that if planning to come here. There's also a staff charge added for parties of six or more, which is good to know ahead of time. Even with that, the overall ambiance and vibe make it totally worth it. Would be my go-to Calamari- crunchy, flavor was fine, but the AMOUNT for the PRICE is a crime. It was a pittance of calamari. A plate that makes you say, "that's it??" After it comes out. PB&B Sliders - great if you need more if a meal/filling, soooo meaty, spicy for me though! That gochujang hits Tuna Poke - pretty good! Last week my friend introduced me to Hive and Honey Rooftop. The rooftop is located at the Marriott in Irvine. The space offers plenty of room with great views of Irvine. The service was extremely friendly, if you know my write ups, it's the most important thing to me; aside from the meal itself. We were serviced by Sterling, he made the experience that much better. The drinks came out fast, our food did too, and it was so tasty. We had the Hummas, Pork Belley, Sliders and fries. I appreciated that the employees engaged with the patrons. Pros: Amazing 180° view on a clear day! We could see all the way to San Pedro to the north, SA mountains to the east were so clear. Great selection of craft cocktails and good wines. Beer too, i imagine. Food was better than expected. The Boursin cheese with baguette, the poke, and beef sliders were very good. The bulgogi egg rolls were meh. Cons - I reserved "preferred seating" and didn't read the fine print - the $50 fee was just for the seating area. It did not go towards our bill. Kind of a rip off IMO. Service was OK, not top notch for having to pay $50 just for seating area. Will go again but will opt for free seating at a high top table. read more

I was humiliated and threatened with police after asking to speak to a manager. This experience happened on 8/1/25 with server Adriana. I had a Preferred Seating reservation at Hive & Honey on August 1st, which cost $100 just to secure a table. About an hour in, a server told us we had 15 minutes left because of a "90-minute policy." This policy was never disclosed at the time of booking - only texted the day of the reservation. I politely asked multiple times to speak to a manager. On the fourth request, I stated more firmly that I needed to speak with someone now, and explained that I was pregnant and unable to stand for long periods. Instead of assisting me, the server led me to security - not management. The security guard told me that if I didn't come downstairs, they would call the Irvine Police Department. I had done nothing wrong - I wasn't disruptive, I wasn't yelling - I was just standing my ground and asking to be treated with respect. Eventually, I was forced to leave the rooftop and wait in the hotel lobby. Only then did a manager come over to apologize and offer a refund, which I accepted - but the damage was already done. This was publicly humiliating, emotionally distressing, and felt discriminatory after disclosing my pregnancy. I have since submitted formal complaints to Marriott and didn't get any response. This is not the kind of experience anyone should go through - let alone at a luxury property. read more

The food was bland, the service was inattentive, and worst of all they charged my card additional times after I left. Once the next day, then once more two days later. The waitress took my card away from the table to run it anow I know why. I looked at other reviews and saw dozens of people reporting the same scam. This isn't a mistake it's a pattern. I left a 20% tip despite the customer service being subpar. I was told that someone would "reach out" to me to fix this but I'm sure this is pretty standard as there are many other people saying they were charge without their authorization. To be honest, it's my stay at the hotel which guarantees my stop at H&H. Apparently, it's a very popular spot amongst non-guests of the hotel. You can try your luck at reserving a timeslot online or via walk-in. But when trying those options, I have very slim luck. However being a guest at the hotel helps when you are unable to snag a reservation. Come at sunset and grab a craft cocktail or two. Dine at a high-top table or cozy up near a firepit...you can't go wrong either way. Service is okay considering you are at a busy rooftop bar. I find that the servers are more attentive in the bar near the hotel lobby. Parking options include valet and if you're lucky, there "may" be parking at an empty lot across the street of the hotel (fingers crossed). read more
