I've seen this place a couple of times on instagram and decided to give it a try with one of my close friends for her belated birthday dinner. Ambiance 10/10 Very light hearted and intimate. Perfect for a date night, girls night or even a solo date! We got there closer to 7:30 on a Thursday so we didn't need a reservation. It's a little loud but we were still able to have a conversation amongst ourselves. Service 10/10 Our server was so nice and funny. He was very patient with us since this was our first time here. Definitely had good recommendations and was honest about what was good to try. He was super attentive and the food came out relatively quick. Food 12/10 The food was greatttttt!!!!! We started out with the focaccia which was light and fluffy. It paired well with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar dipping oil. I had the spicy rigatoni and my friend had the lasagna. We were very happy with our entrees. My pasta was creamy spicy and very flavorful! Not going to lie should have order another for to-go. For dessert I got the seasonal butter cake which had caramel, bananas and vanilla ice cream. It was fabulous and the perfect way to finish off the night. My friend got the tiramisu and she loved it as well. I need to come back here again to try more food because man.... Everything was great!

Can we talk about how delicious the bread was? Omg!! we ended up ordering two because it was that good. Mind you, it was just the two of us, but we had zero regrets. Our bellies were very happy with that decision! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also loved the ambiance of the place, it had such a great vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was excellent as well. Not only was our server attentive, but the entire staff made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. Overall, such a wonderful dining experience!

The pasta is even better- our faves are the squid ink and braised rib lumache! I guess this place is a chain that does it well. Good pizza (tried the margherita and the sauce slapped), salad options (I liked the seasonal veg salad though I would ask for dressing on the side, they always overdress). They have a great drinks and wine list (including mocktails). I'd return!

The lady next to me said, "They sat all the Asians together!" I look and sure enough, it was a line of 3 tables and all Asian. I didn't even notice at first, I really do think it was a coincidence but the lady had strong thoughts. Food was alright! The Crushed meatball ragu was very simple and heavy. Probably something you could make at home. Still a good option if you like spaghetti. Spicy Rigatoni was excellent! Drinks were good!

Placed the order online and the pickup process went without a hitch. The eggplant Parmesan was nice and light. No oozing water or sogginess. The pasta didn't have a strong pesto taste. The pine nuts and capers didn't really add a contrasting crunch or flavors. It was rather bland and everything tasted mushy. I found some shreds of chicken that looked and tasted ropey / dry and stringy. My biggest gripe is the portion sizes of the food. As you can see in the pictures, the eggplant Parmesan arrived in a giant container looking like I already ate 75% of it. I understand it's supposed to be an appetizer and such, but it hardly had any sauce or anything beyond what was literally pictured. The pasta situation was the same. Few spoonfuls of mushy pasta and your meal is over. The order came with nothing else. No utensils, no accompanying salads or bread. For a $50 takeaway meal, I expected better than this. Would I order from here again? Probably not. I think the food is overpriced for what it is. There are many nicer Italian restaurants in the area with similar price points that provides better quality of food and value.

This place is really good but WAY overpriced. The plates were melamine....sorry way overpriced to serve in melamine. The lady could not find my reservation. i had to show her. but something is wrong with their system because this happened to a friend of mine back in February as well. They ran out of ranch and N/A prosseco. It is okay bc the food was good. We ordered the fried zucca chips. OVERLY SALTED. did not enjoy. The burrata was delicious. I would get that again. The chicken parmesan was delicious. but it was odd it came with mac and cheese ziti or some kind of cheese sauce. Usually you serve chicken parm with spaghetti and sauce? The Bolognese was delicious and same with the chicken pesto. My sister got a arugula steak salad. The steak was really rare and they didnt even ask how she wanted it cooked. the little gem caesar was good but it had way too much dressing. way too much. the dessert was delicious. butter cake was amazing! Drinks: Cocktails were really good but OVERPRICED. $16-$17 dollars for a non fancy italian spot is wild. Ciao Bella was delicious though. I would probably come here again but it is overpriced.

This was my first time dining here, and everything was a 10/10! The drinks were amazing, and I really appreciated that they were able to custom make something for us that wasn't even on the menu. Edwin was our server, and he provided truly outstanding service--easily 10/10 customer care. He was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. We ordered the lasagna and the chicken Parmesan, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food exceeded our expectations. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be coming back!

This was my first time visiting and I definitely plan on coming back with family. The staff were nice and accommodating. Talking to my waiter felt like I was talking to a friend, he was nice, informative, and attentive. The food looked great in the photos and it tasted just as food when I tried it. The pizza had a great balance of spice, sweetness, and smoked flavor. The garlic bread and Scampi were delicious. The red velvet was the cherry on top. The cake had a fluffy interior that wasn't sweet, the strawberry cream on top was where all the sweetness came from. So if you dont want your bite to be too sugary, you have more control on how much sweetness you want with each bit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was clean, felt relaxing, and felt like a place I'd visit often for good food and a chill space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend them!

Visited North Italia with my family for a night out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate large groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Since it is located in RTC, it is nice to walk around while waiting for a table if there is a wait. We started with the calamari which was pretty good. I ordered the house bolognese for my entree. As a pasta lover, I thought it had good flavor but it was not particularly memorable for a house special. Other dishes ordered by my group were decent. Some were better than others, but overall I think there was a lack of consistency between being good and others just being okay. Service was fine. I had a good time and would be open to returning to try other menu items.

North Italia was better than I was expecting! I typically dont go to big chains like this because I have low expectations. I should probably reconsider this stance! The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and checked in on us multiple times! We had a large group of 16. They were accommodating to the size of the party as well as the rate at which we ordered. Since we got some appetizers, I got a salad and the meatballs and polenta as my meal. The calamari was a little chewy but seasoned well and came with a zesty dipping sauce. I really enjoyed my meatballs and polenta. The meatballs were cooked perfectly and covered in a rich tomato sauce. The polenta was very creamy and not overwhelming. I had to try to cacio e pepe martini. It was fun to try- very interesting, however I dont think I would order it again.

Conveniently located in rest in town center. I was here to shop and I was lucky to get the reservation for the same day. Reservations can be difficult especially on weekends so better to plan ahead. I had the grilled Bronzino. It came with some veggies and a nice sauce.. It was pretty good. 6.5/10 for me. It had a hit of sweetness bec of which I deducted some points. For desert I had the butter cake. The flavor they had that day was the coconut butter cake with caramel drizzle, and a vanilla gelato. Coconut is not my favorite, but I decided to try it. I am so glad I it. It hit the spot.

So far we've dined at the bar and ordered on DoorDash. Both times the food was excellent. Cocktail creativity is a welcome touch. Pizza definitely scratch-made with quality ingredients. Can't go wrong there, and i'm not sure I can resist getting some every time. We added pepperoni to the margherita - definitely recommended. Pastas are good, and the chicken parm is generous, thinly pounded, and crisp. Bar service was a bit inattentive, and the bread app is a transparent money-grab. Fix that and there's nothing to complain of! Will be back. read more

WORST WAITER/SERVICE EVER! We drove all the way from Bethesda, while we could have easily gone to the one in Tyson, which is close, we decided to try the one in Reston because there were no more tables available in Tyson. They sat us at the bar at some high top table. We though that the pictures did not give justice to the restaurant and it was better in person. Our waiter DAVID came and asked us what we wanted. He did not even ask us if it was our first time or if we had any questions, just went straight to it. " what can I get you?" We gave him our drinks order, which already took a while before it hit our table and we started to wonder if someone was going to drop our drinks off at some point. Eventually he dropped the drinks and took our food order. The food came in shortly after but we had no plates, no silverware, no napkins. So we waived him and told him we needed napkins. He came back with 1 plate and 1 napkin and left. So I waived him again, and I could already tell from his body language that he was being annoyed, I nicely ask him to bring another napkin. He comes back and drop me some paper napkins for drinks and rushes out. So I waive again and ask him to bring me an actual table napkin. He looks at me and leave and then comes back and drop it on the corner of the table with an attitude and leave. I thought to myself, "well, that was weird!" So I waived at him again and I calmly ask him " Excuse me, I am sorry, but is there something I said or did that offended you??" cause his body language and behavior was so negative and unhappy I had to ask him. Well, he went from 0 to 100 within seconds. He was clearly not having a good day. He basically started to tell us that we were not his only table and that we were pretty much wasting his time in keeping waiving at him because he could not do his job properly. I was like " DAVID if your section is too much for you to handle then maybe you should let your manager know that you cannot perform under pressure and you certainly cannot multitask or communicate properly either and maybe give your table to another waiter instead". We felt attacked and unwelcome so we left. I waited tables for 8 years and honestly I have never been treated that way by a waiter or anyone for that matter, ever. If you cannot perform your job to the best of your ability then don't ruin people's day with your terrible attitude and incompetence. The manager came in and talked to us but the damage was already done and that guy looked like he was ready to fight my boyfriend. We are better than that, so we left the premises. While we are grateful that the restaurant was open during those challenging times we surely did not feel welcome and I regret to say that we will never come back to that location. read more

We ate dinner at Northern Italia Friday night and it was great. Best Bolognese pasta that I have ever eaten, and that's quite a compliment, as I have eaten it at Harry's Bar in Italy. My husband had the pasta with shredded short ribs and a parmesan cream sauce and really liked it. The atmosphere is modern and comfortable, and the manager, Sanjay, was friendly and welcoming. We ate at two other restaurants in Reston, and thought this one was by far the best. Be aware that there is construction going on in front of the restaurant, but they are open. We were out with friends over thanksgiving and decided to make reservations at this place for 7. Seating was ready when we arrived. All the staff were friendly, but a bit on the slow side, they forgot our starters soup and truffle garlic bread, and we had to remind them which wasn't great. My kids enjoyed the tagliatelle Bolognese, we had the branzino which was great, it came with broccoli, cauliflower and fennel. Others in our group had the pesto chicken and salad which they enjoyed, my daughter shared a chocolate Nutella dessert and my husband and I shared the tiramisu both were really good. Took us 20 minutes to be greeted. We went through the menu and drink menu 3x each between me and my date. The food was pretty good I got the shredded beef pasta dish along with a mushroom pizza. The food took about 20 min as well. If it were packed then I would get it but the restaurant wasn't even half full. read more

I have never written a review before tonight and may never again, but tonight I had to. I took my family out for dinner before taking my son off to college. He loves this restaurant, so it was a no-brainer. I had been to another location, so i was excited to check out Reston. I WAS NOT disappointed, in fact I can't wait to go back! I knew it would be what we planned - great food, nice atmosphere, and friendly. The food was fantastic (thank you, chef!), our waiter was great and engaging, and the manager was like none I have ever had. Really. He really knows how to deliver the customer experience - not customer service, but the customer experience!! It was a perfect send off meal my son and his girlfriend who our both onto new adventures. I had a fabulous meal at North Italia in Reston Town Center. The food is exquisite, with the wonderful option of either real pasta or zucchini /vegetable pasta for those watching carbs. The experience my friend and I had was definitely enhanced by our waiter, Ethan. Wow! Ethan is this epitome of excellent service combined with a warm and welcoming personality. We were the only table there at 3pm on a Sunday and we were totally ignored. Our server clearly didn't care that we were there. She took 10 minutes to greet us with no mention of drinks, specials etc. She got 3 things wrong with our order. I had to flag her down 4 times to get bread, refills, a box, our check etc. She and the hostess were leaning against the hostess stand texting the whole time. We were not offered dessert. We could not wait to leave because we felt so unwelcome. At a time when there are servers everywhere begging to work it was very odd to be treated so poorly. read more

Came here tonight was craving pasta. Their food is good but service is lacking. Seems they only have two bartenders and short staff? The waiter that brought the pasta , I asked him if he can bring bread but he never brought it. No problem. Then I ordered dessert, the same guy brought it and left before I could ask him for a spoon. There was another person that came and waited for a long time and she then got up and left. I realized for Italian it's best to go to north point or Herndon. Better service. Funny thing is they brought a manager from Vegas to turn this place around and it's obvious he never did. The service is still lacking. I would give it a 1 star if the food wasn't good. :-) read more

You blew it. Again. I was hoping for nothing dramatic. Something normal where I could come back and say things were not as bad as before. This time it was worse. Far worse. Worse on a magnitude hard to imagine. Before I even ordered food I ordered a martini with a twist of lemon. It came instead with an olive. Not a Cardinal sin particularly. However when my new martini came back with a lemon and the weirdest taste because some lazy person, waiter or bartender, took out the olive and slapped a lemon rind into the glass. I pointed this out to the waiter who mumbled something, he mumbled a lot thru the course of dining. Finally ironed out my drink which took a while and my wife ordered a lemon drop martini no sugar on the rim. Came out with sugar. She drank it as is nonetheless. Two drinks, two mistakes. Finally got to ordering and mine was a simple request of bolognese. The other burrata andolini and a side of meatballs. My bolognese had a simple flaw, someone who cooks the pasta is also lazy. Several times my bite was two noodles stuck together and undercooked to the point where they were hard. The way to accomplish this is to not pay any attention to pasta while it cooks. Period. In terms of the bolognese and sauce there simply wasn't enough. Additionally someone is heavy handed with what seems to be Calabrian pepper which in this case was just distracting. The seasoning of the sauce was boring and not robust. Just short of jarred sauce. I'm not going to get into the andolini it's too much frankly. At some point we thru in the towel and decided that it was best to bag it and take home most of what we ordered. At that point we thought we'd get another round of drinks and deserts. Asked for the desert menu please. The drinks never showed. Neither did the desert menu. The mumbling waiter forgot us. He started waiting on a table of twelve and literally forgot us. While I can't really say how angry I was, I was livid. Got the bill and there were some serious irregularities that bordered on theft. A manager-esque young woman came over with the obligatory how are things. Now at this point the mumbling waiter had not had contact with us for thirty minutes, no drinks, no desert menu and I made it very clear how angry, not the word I'd like to use, I was and why. Another 15 minutes of going here and there and we got a normal bill and eventually got out of there. Spent more time waiting to leave than I did dining. Not ever going back. I really went in with hopes that I could come back and say every one has a bad day now and then and this was much better. That's not what happened, it was an awful example of incompetence. Make no mistake this is in the suburbs and magically folks will like this place anyway. That's the way of the world in suburbs. read more

I found it to be just o.k. I had the chicken parmesan. It had a couple cold spots(the pasta) and the chicken was o.k. I also opted for the grilled bread and good olive oil. Again, it was o.k. nothing special. Also had the Tuscan kale. Nothing to special to be honest. Worth trying out - Sure. With countless other options in Reston I'd say you money should be spent elsewhere. read more

The food here is amazing. I've ordered from here dozens of times before finally visiting. It's embarrassing that culinary community hasn't recognized this place like that of the Inn at Little Washington. Wesley was our server during our last visit, he treated us with the utmost respect, and made the entire dining experience a delight. I recommend the white truffle garlic bread, and everything else. Do not hesitate to dine here. We sat outside on a beautiful night. The hostess was quick to say hello and get us a table. We started with the bruschetta, which is not your run of the mill bruschetta. The bread has a touch of dressing and a cheese blend, asparagus with Prosciutto on top. Not salty and it was exciting to eat something so delicious and not fast food type Italian. The Spicy Meatball Pizza has the best crust we have had in Va. Again, delicious and not typical fast food pizza. The salmon was cooked medium rare as I requested and flaked and tasted terrific. Great but too salty!! We've been waiting a long time for the to open. The place is very nice and clean, service is great. The food was delish but my only complaint is the salt level in the pasta dishes. We had meatballs, burrata and meatballs for apps. For our entrees, we ordered the squid ink pasta, roasted salmon, chicken pasta and chicken Parmesan. All the pastas were heavily salted to an almost unbearable amount. For dessert, we ordered the Tiramisu and hazelnut torta were home runs. Will return but will ask the kitchen to half the salt next time. read more

My husband and I went out with friends and had dinner at North Italia Reston. It was one of the best we all had. Loved the farmers and chef's boards as appetizers. The zucchini chips were the bomb! And the entrees were all mouth watering. They made the spaghetti and meatballs extraordinary delectable. For dessert, I highly recommend the Bombilini.. YUM!!! Also, the night won't be as lovely if it wasn't for the great service of Chef Kris and Alex. Great food plus excellent customer service made North a place that I will keep coming back to. read more

The food was very lackluster at best, particularly for the price. I got a chicken dish and the chicken was overcooked. Better than being undercooked but still very disappointing. Also tried the octopus ink pasta. The flavor itself was ok but the pasta was undercooked - not al dente but undercooked as in there was still dry pasta. With NoVa slowly re-opening - the right way, thx very much - we were finally able to try this new addition at Reston Town Center. We were not disappointed. Open, welcoming environment - ambiance fit for date night & pleasant staff greetings - always a good way to start. Safety comes first - masks & gloves & well-spaced seating made us feel comfortable. We ordered drinks, which came quickly, then took our time with the menu. Hubs chose pasta - bolognese - & loved it. He's hard to please, so I knew it must be good. Normally I would steal a taste of the sauce - he kind of cleaned his plate before I got to it. I had a wonderfully structured arugula-avocado salad - added perfectly seasoned grilled chicken - it was just the right dish for a hot summer evening . Shaved Parmesan topped it nicely & the uber-light dressing was the best I've had. Happy to add this great spot to our date night rotation. Small plates were good. Entrees were mediocre, very small servings. When we asked for Parmesan cheese, they brought a minuscule container with it, not enough for one person when we had 10 people in the table. We tried to make reservations the day before they said they could not because the party was too large. When we got there, they said 45 min wait to be seated, but there was plenty of space to accommodate. Not impressed about anything about this place at all. When they seated us it was in an area were we were almost punished for being a large party. Right in front of the door and it was freezing. Waitress was nice but missed an order plate and also lacked serving skills. No refills of water and did not make sure plates were there for all at the same time. People were nice, so we did not complain, but I will not recommend this place for a large family gathering. read more

We needed a last minute reservation on Tuesday for 7 people for a going away dinner. We are so thankful that Sanjay was able to speak to the managers on duty Renee and Viviana who were able to work some magic and fit us in! YAY! The hostess Elodie, greeted us right away and showed us to our table. My nephew an father-in-law had never been to North Italia and our server Nina was very helpful with their questions about pizza and drink pairings! Our appetizers came out very quickly and were delicious! The food portions were big and we had left overs! We appreciate the extra care we received and love coming to North Italia all the time! Second time into the North Italia in Reston. The first time I had to walk out because of the vile creature tending bar. Full-on unhinged, unprofessional behavior by this bardentress. Second time took my mom to dinner. We're Italian by blood and have had every item on the menu in one capacity or another throughout or lives. The margherita pizza was awful. It was slathered in sauce with little to no mozzerella or basil. No pepper to speak of either. Tortellini wasn't bad but the whole experience was just overpriced and underwhelming. Order chicken, Parm and the pasta al dente the chicken came out. It was very small very little sauce. I cut into it. It was all stringy dried out pasta taste like SpaghettiOs mushy. I said some of the Waitrss she kind of said pasta was sort of pre-cooked it was nasty. I eat out every day, different restaurants, and this is the bottom on the bottom of my list and my friends think twice before you order it. I prefer supporting local, but not while my meal goes cold waiting for people at the table to receive their meals.
