This testing center is up on the second floor with an elevator available. The building's shared bathroom is clean with multiple stalls and just down the hallway from the testing center. The testing center was clean. Expected protocols were followed and enforced. The lockers are secure for you to leave belongings during your testing. They also have a water station if you aren't allowed to access your belongings (water) during your test.

Here's your run down: You walk in, grab a number from the stand right when you walk in (literally…read moreeveryone read to take a number and just walked past it, I don't understand lol), they will call your number and ask you what test your taking. Then they give you a paper of all the rules and you sit back down. Then they call your number again, you say wha test your taking, show ID, take a photo and are asked to put all items in the lockers the provide. You go to the room they told you to go to, where you show them your pockets are empty and they scan a little wand to look for camera or any cheating devices. They were all very professional and kind. They also ask you multiple times what test you are taking, so it pretty hard to mess that up. I do recommend getting there 30 minutes early if you want to start your test in time.

The center JLC offers van pickup for many schools in the area, including Beatty, Emery, Fisler, and Parks, depending on how many students are enrolled from each school. Call to find out if van pickup is available from other area schools. The facility is a converted house with substantial additions. The parking lot is a bit small, and navigating is difficult in the tight space, especially with kids around. However, there is usually someone outside at pickup time to help direct traffic and keep the lot safe. There is a kitchen and meal hall, and kids typically receive a meal right after school, before tutoring begins. The regular daily schedule (for Mondays through Thursdays) is divided into three parts: meals and individual homework time for an hour, followed by an hour of English and an hour of math, with the day ending at 6pm. On Fridays JLC offers additional instruction programs including martial arts, dance, musical instruments, and others, for an additional fee. The individual instruction time is extremely valuable for us working parents who already have very full schedules. It's hard to squeeze in an hour before bedtime to assist kids with homework, and something that a babysitter or day care is probably not going to do. The staff is experienced with kids of varying ages and abilities, and has been great for both my son (a slower learner) and his cousins (very fast learners). Tuition rates are very reasonable, lower than any competitors I found in the area. JLC provides good services at an excellent value; highly recommended.

Out of 4,000 Clubs we were awarded THE top award in the nation for our SMART Girls Teen Leadership Program. We do not have drugs passed around the teen center, teens who use profane language are reprimanded or sent home as our rules and expectations are very straight forward and are in writing. Our Program Director was awarded in June 2019, Professional of the Year for all 15 Clubs in OC, a huge honor for Buena Park. Our Staff do not "make teens download apps" on their phones. THE single app needed for teens to participate in this summers STEAM Photography Program was the only one required. Another fine example of our diverse hourly programming, and thus not teens just sitting around doing nothing all day. Children are not reprimanded for doing the right thing, that is asinine. However when a child is reduced to tears for being teased while changing from their wet swimsuit to dry clothes we feel that is not ok. Our service to our community is evident by the 560 registered members this summer, a record high as the families we serve continue to grow each year. Our 31% growth over the past 12 months confirms our quality staff and program as the adage Quality business thrives, bad business dies definitely rings true.
