End your worries about mechanics ripping you off. North Park operates with a level of integrity that is otherwise unheard of in the industry. For years, Zuheir, the owner took wonderful care of our vehicles, making sure to address issues under warranty and point out potential problems to budget for in the future. Now Tom treats us with the same consideration and respect. Pricing remains very fair, and they get things done as quickly as possible. Integrity is a word seldomly written in auto repair shop reviews. Fear is usually the sales tactic used by mechanics to reach profitability. Tom chooses trust as his secret sales tactic. Long story short, I brought my car in for an A/C recharge via referral. Gave the dude my keys, gave him my contact info & left for a cup of coffee. I was told the service would take about 30 minutes. Since my car was up on the lift, Tom (the assigned mechanic) took notes of all issues he saw...big or small. Like a trusted advisor, he printed me a price quote for everything & took time to explain LEVELS OF IMPORTANCE, OPTIONS AND AN OVERALL GAME PLAN. It's much more then just freon that needs to be addressed. I'll need time to save my nickels & dimes before getting the work done. No strong armed confrontation at all. Just a conversation between two car guys that genuinely want my car to run safely for a long time. I can't really comment on pricing, but honestly I don't care. Based on my initial interaction, it'll be worth every penny. Not sure if Tom is the owner, but he sure as hell acts as it's ambassador. read more

Zuheir and his staff are the "salt" of the auto industry. Here is why... I had heard glowing reports from colleagues and associates for years. Although, until recently, I hadn't needed work on my car. Last week, I took my car in, met with Zuheir and he schooled me on the diagnostic check-up (DC) process. In short, he explained that the DC checks the electronic system of the vehicle not the mechanical parts. So, in my case, the DC would display an alert for my catalytic converter, which meant my sensor (which is electronic piece) needs to be changed/replaced. Keep in mind, changing the sensor is significantly less than replacing the catalytic converter, which is the mechanical piece. ****catch the shift in the saga**** Days priors to visiting North Park Auto, I went to "a place that will remain nameless" that did a similar DC but they "recommended" changing the catalytic converter, which is a mechanical piece and has NOTHING to do with the electronic system. Well, I happily gave $500+ to the establishment that will remain nameless to "fix" the problem (i.e. check engine light). However, after getting the car back, by the next morning, the check engine light was back on which is how I ended up at North Park Auto. In sum, THANK YOU North Park Auto Service for your honesty and continued dedication to truly us less automatically inclined customers. #KUDOS read more

Knew I needed new front brakes, went to sears auto center, for $15 got a quote for $650 for new pads, rotors, fluid, calipers and installation. Called North Park Auto at 11AM on Saturday, went right in, was told all I needed was rotors and pads for $250. Unfortunately, the 'joint' (I'm no mechanic, obviously) on my front axle was damaged. They actually walked me out and showed me where the damage was, showed me how the other side looked, explained how it could have happened and told me that I could bring my car back to fix it later. The folks at Sears were friendly but didn't even mention the damage/leakage on the axle. I ended up getting both issues fixed the same day for just over $400 and feel comfortable recommending them to friends and family. read more

I needed some tire bearings replaced and they went over some options and kept me informed about the whole process. Honest, reliable, affordable and local. Nothing like being able to get your oil changed, brakes replaced and then walk home. If you live in North Park or Albany Park and need a great mechanic you have to go here. They are very upfront, don't try to sheister you and will be totally honest. I went there once to have my oil changed and asked to have my brakes replaced, not examined yet he replied that I really didn't need them changed yet. Supporting my local businesses is a high priority for me, so I asked my husband (a lifelong North Park resident) for his opinions on Auto Service needs. He works at North Park University and highly recommended Zuhier (the owner of North Park Auto). Having negative experiences at the Jiffy Lube nearby...I was ready to take the hubby's advice this time. This place is VERY honest about the needs of your vehicle. We were worried about our "squeaky brakes," so Zuhier took the car for a spin himself. Most businesses would have immediately changed the brakes, so they could charge you for more services. Instead, he thoroughly examined them and determined that nothing was amiss with our brakes - saved us the money and the fretting. About a year ago, I had a flat tire while preparing to leave for an out-of-town vacation. Under severe time constraints, we took our car to Zuhier who fixed our flat tire for FREE...as a gift to us. We have had NO trouble with that tire...even 1 year later! read more

These guys are the best in town! I've been going here since 2003 and they have done nothing but superb work. Zuheir is the owner and he is honest, reliable and knowledgeable. Very very reasonable priced. I've asked around at other places to campare and the competition is just boggled by their prices. What is also great about these guys, is that, they let you bring in your own parts (for those who want special brnads, or better quality parts) and they just charge you labor but make sure you ask them before you bring it in to shop. Honest people work here and there prices are good and reasonable. My story: So before coming to the shop I called them and let them know that my car wasn't turning on and my thought it was the alternator, they priced me at 265 which I thought was reasonable and towed it the next day. When I got there they went ahead and checked out the alternator check all the connections, long story short turns out it was a cable. Instead of me paying 265 I ended up paying 25. Other places would of took Advantage and said yes it was the alternator and charged me an arm and leg but these guys are honest. Highly recommend. They do great work! read more

I cannot say enough about North Park. I went in with what was about to be a total disaster. Damaged wheel that had led to a damaged tire. I was more than a little on edge and many, many people would have gauged me to spend a great deal of money replacing all 4 wheels and all 4 tires (who wants to have non-matching wheels, or tires). North Park did not even try this. They took the tire off the wheel to show the damage to me, and then the damage on the tire. The gave me every option and explained each and every one. To say they were kind, helpful and totally fair is a vast understatement. On top of all this, they only charged me $20!! Thats a GREAT price for a tire change, much less everything else they did for me. I will be going back to North Park and if you want a friendly, fair and high quality place to get some work done, I highly recommend it! read more

Considering the number of new parts being replaced and including labor - I paid a fair price and was cheaper than some of the well known repair shop. I highly recommend this auto shop. I had my car towed there during their after hours and left it parked on the street. When I called the next morning they already had identified the issue. I work at North Park University and we get all our university cars serviced there. In addition, they give 10% off to all North Park students and staff. I was thrilled to hear this and took my car in for an oil change. Now, my car is brand new and has an oil life gage. It was at 50% when I took it in and after they serviced it, it still said 50%. That makes me think they did NOT change the oil, and probably didn't rotate the tires like I had asked and paid for. In addition, they told me I needed to come back for another oil change in a month. Something tells me I just got scammed. And I agree with what other people wrote: the guy there was really nice to me and my car was ready at the time promised. But what does niceness and promptness matter if they aren't doing the work you paid for. I would much rather pay a little more and support an honest business. read more

I brought my car here when I was having problems with my car- my check engine light came on and it was running terribly. This place took my car in right away, and assured me that it would be done by the end of the day so I could get home (I work close but live far away). I also told them I was really concerned about the costs, and that if anything else came up, to please call me. The owner called me a few hours later with something else that was wrong with the car (my husband and I had expected it, so we weren't surprised) and asked permission to fix both issues and gave me the guaranteed total. When I arrived, my car was ready, the price was what I had been told, and both major issues with my car have been fixed and not become a problem again. I've taken my car in three times in the last couple of years (I have an aging car) and every time they would let me know what was wrong, the least expensive way to fix it, or if it wasn't anything that affected the car's drivability or safety would let me know so I could decide whether or not to spend the money to fix "non-essential" things. I'd give them ZERO stars but that wasn't an option. Had a accident while driving through Chicago from Indiana. Had to have it towed to North Park because they were close and open on a Saturday. Was misquoted time frame of repairs by 2 extra days, and when we got the car back the whole dash lit up with warning lights. They said to drive it home and get rest repairs here. The honda dealership here says they put a wheel bering in backwards! Why would you send a customer on 120 mile trip and think having all sensor lights on was ok? I wouldn't send my hot wheels car in for repair there. read more
