After bouncing between dealerships and Midas, I'm glad I finally found Marshall. I've been taking my car to his team for three years now, and it's great to have an honest and knowledgeable mechanic (and ASE certified!). I've unfortunately had unexpected repairs needing tows, but Marshall and his team have always been more than accommodating. He's even saved the failed components and brought them into the waiting room so that he can explain how it failed and and why the repair was needed. I gave this place two stars because if you need a basic oil change they can give you that. I am not an expert in cars and dropped off my car after I hit a wall to see what the car was worth if I dropped it off at the junkyard or sold it for parts. I figured since they were a mom and pop shop they would be honest. And I've been to them before for an oil change and had a good experience. I received a call the next day and was told the car is worth about $155 and that's what he would buy it for. I asked what I owed and he said nothing. I then offered to give him the car for $100 and he said let him think about it and he would call me back. I thought they were going to call me back but they never did, so I ended up calling them after a few days. Got someone different and he was quite rude. Told me his place was not a "parking lot" and wasn't sure who told me I could keep it there. Ironic, since they have my number and could have called me back right away if he didn't want the car there. Completely caught off guard since I wasn't expecting that. When I got to the shop I was told it was $86 and some change; mind you a few days before I was told I owed nothing. To make a long story short, I ended up giving them the car in exchange for not paying. I was pretty stressed because this was the beginning of the covid lock down and didn't have the energy to argue over $100. I had a new muffler and tires on the car and I think they wanted those. Well, they got a new muffler, new tires, and me reaching out to my network to tell people to not go here. I did learn a lesson though. I need to start having a basic understanding of cars, which I have begun to learn. read more

If I go to a place to get a window on my car fixes, that's all I want to be done. No hoops to jump through... no navigating unknown territory. I just want it simple, fast, easy, and you know? Why don't we throw in friendly service. Doesn't seem like too much to ask right? Chicago Car Car is all of these things. It was completely painless on my part. I called for an estimate. They told me a fair price (see my Yelp about the other car place that wasn't so fair). I dropped of my car. They told me they would have it fixed an a few hours. It was. I got a call when it was ready, I picked it up and it was perfect. They charged me exactly what they said they were going to. And on top, they were nice friendly guys. I've been doing business with Marshall Castle and his team since they were Marshall's Car Castle on California and Pratt. Now re-established as Chicago Car Care just south of Northside College Prep High School, they continue their tradition of great service at competitive prices. Poorly done car repairs not only cost you money, but they are also hazardous to your personal safety. This is never a problem at Chicago Car Care. Marshall and his crew are topnotch automotive technicians who keep their ASE certifications up to date. I get only fast, reliable repairs here, and Marshall stands behind all work done in his garage. I like to think I know more about the workings of cars than the average Joe (um, well, as Marshall will tell you, EVERY man likes to think he knows more about the workings of cars than the average Joe...), but cars are very complex machines, and there's no doubt in my mind that an auto mechanic who wanted to take advantage of me would have little trouble doing so. But the fact remains that cars often require expensive repairs and preventive maintenance, so it's critical to your financial health to have an honest automotive technician. I would challenge anybody to find a more honest businessman than Marshall Castle. I highly recommend Chicago Car Care. read more

Oops, the issue came back on my car over the summer that they were supposed to have fixed. Doesn't impact anything structurally or safety-wise of the car, just annoying to hear rattle. Addendum, received a notification on Yelp that the friendly and defensive people at Chicago Car Care edited a response in 2018 from a 2016 review. Wow. I did a gasket change per their recommendation and since they were already working on their car, asked for an adjustment on the parts near the exhaust, specifically their heat shields. Their heat again is on low and of time of the original review they did not have WiFi. Again, more expensive per hour than a dealer but without the 20 year old couches. read more

I got a flat over the weekend and have been looking for a good place to get my tire replaced. I have also been on the lookout for a great mechanic that I can trust, which until yesterday I had yet to find them. Based on their great reviews and awesome $50 for $75 deal on yelp, I decided to give Chicago Care Care a try. I called ahead and they suggested dropping by to show what kind of tire I had and then coming back after the tire had been delivered, which was fine for me. Last night I dropped by, they ordered the tire and asked what I was looking for I said cheap and reliable and the guy found me an 85,000 mile tire for under $100, which was exactly what I was looking for. I came back in this morning after a phone call from them and the tire was installed very quickly. I was in and out. Overall this was one of the best mechanic experiences I have ever had. I usually leave a car place feeling like I was totally robbed and didn't get what I actually needed, but here: 1. I got exactly what I wanted and wasn't given 65,000 sales pitches on other things that are totally wrong with my car even if it's running fine 2. My friend with the exact same car and similarly priced tires (checked online) got a flat a few weeks ago and spent abut $80 more to get said tire replaced at another place. 3. They were friendly, quick, no nonsense, and seemed like really honest people. I think I found a new mechanic. I totally recommend if you're looking for something reasonably priced, reliable, and quick! read more

I frantically called CCC this morning when I broke my seat belt (it got folded and pulled all the way out). The man on the phone said it'd cost $30+ if they had to take the car apart. I showed up soon afterward and was greeted by the friendly man I had spoke to on the phone. He promptly got a mechanic to look at the broken seat belt and had it fixed within 2 minutes (without having to take the car apart!)! And best of all, when I went inside to pay, he said it free. Thanks for watching out for a poor college kid's wallet! Friendly people, great service, clean space, what's not to love?! This place has definitely earned my trust and I will be coming back when I run into car troubles again! read more

I went to this repair shop back when it was Car Castle on California and Pratt, and always got great service. Marshall (the owner) is always very respectful, and explains things clearly. The times that I've compared prices, his were either in line with or better than other garages. I haven't been back in person since he's moved, but I believe he might have rides available for people who drop off their car, within a reasonable distance. (But call and double check first, I don't know if this is still available, or what the details are.) read more

I was so impressed with the service I received from Chicago Car Care! Mr. Castle didn't pressure or try to sell me on anything other than the service I requested (something I've frequently encountered at other shops when I bring in my well-worn Chevy Aveo). I was pleasantly shocked at how fast my repair was done; I'd anticipated being without my car for at least a couple of days, and he had it back to me in a few hours! It can always be a gamble being a woman and to a mechanic, because I have had mechanics try to rip me off. But I have never felt that these guys are in the business of ripping people off. All proposed repairs were explained clearly so I understood what my car needed and were completed in a timely fashion for a reasonable price. Save yourself time and money by getting the right mechanic from the start. I had a problem with my air conditioner which wasn't fixed after having taken it to three different mechanics. One changed a filter, another the fluid, still another found nothing wrong. Of course the AC would work in their shops but quit when I needed it in stop and go traffic. Suffice it to say, I needed a mechanic who could diagnose and fix the root of the problem-a detective if you will. That is what I found at Chicago Car Care. Marshall knows his stuff. He explained why I was getting intermittent cold air and even showed me the tiny little piece that was causing the problem. So not only did I get a fully functioning AC in one day (thanks to his efforts to find and pick up the necessary part) but I gained an education about my car and a mechanic I can trust. To me that's priceless. I highly recommend this shop. It's the cleanest and most courteous place you'll find. read more

I've been bringing my car to Marshall at Chicago Car Care for over 10 years now. The work that is done is always top notch! I always get a full detailed explanation of what is wrong with my car and why it needs to get fixed. It is always done in a timely manner and not once in all these years have I had any issues. It's difficult finding an honest mechanic who does a quality job, and these guys are just that. It also helps that these guys are ASE certified (which is only the top 5 percent of mechanics out there).
