Being on this platform I usually only focus my energy writing about food & cafes to better serve my Yelpie squad-- but I really wanted to write this review to highlight the importance of individualized Vet care for your animals especially with the amazing thorough care we received here. Each pets history and needs are unique. In the system of vet care nowadays it's so hard to get decent care with a vet! Dr. Tsui is one of the most patient, knowledgeable and empathetic veterinarian providers we have ever met. He is also incredibly well versed in his field, a no-nonsense approach to care for your pet's emotional and physical well being! We have our baby dog who just turned 5 this year and has always been "muzzled" at the vet despite being a sweet dog and being stereotyped for his chihuahua mix breed. Dr. Tsui's team really approached our pup with a new lens each time as they knew it took him time to warm up. We have been seeing vets for 4+ years for our pup and have always had concerns about the reasoning of the care being delivered. Being told to purchase more and more nonsensical treatments but with Dr. Tsui this is just not the case. A straightforward compassionate approach to every visit. TLDR; If you're seeking specialized, caring and reasonable vet care come here. If you're seeking a knowledgeable opinion, this is THE best vet we have ever seen. Knowledge and experience are huge, you're not seeing a rookie vet doctor , this is someone with decades of experience to tell you the no nonsense empathetic route to caring for your pet. Simply called inquiring about the cost of having my puppy spayed and what scheduling looks like as of now. The individual who answered the phone would not provide any type of cost estimate without me bringing the pup in for an exam and after that they could give a quote for the services. It is absolutely ridiculous to make someone pay for an appointment in order to receive a quote for service! I understand you don't want underquote a service but c'mon Spay and neuter of a 6 month Lab is not an uncommon procedure for most Vet clinics! A better approach would be something like "how much does you puppy weigh?" 50lbs "how old is your puppy and does she have any health problems?" She's 6 months and healthy "ok generally the cost of the procedure is X amount of dollars but we cannot give a definite quote without first brining your puppy in for an exam" "would you like to schedule that now, the cost for the consultation exam is..... and we can get that schedule within the next month" Simple customer service goes a long way! Luckily multiple clinics in the Hillsboro area have been happy to provide this info without charging for some ridiculous consultation. read more

Dr Tom is the only vet I'll take my cats to. I've known him for 20 years. He's friendly, honorable, does the best he can for your pet, treats your pet like your kid. He will be honest with you and give you all the information and NOT make you spend $$ on useless tests. He will spend quality time with your pet hugging and petting him. I fully trust him He's always personally called me to go over tests results the day after. I can't say enough about him. When you need him the most and don't even know what's wrong he's there for your pet 1st then holding your hand to make it OK. For some things you can go back and watch him do some procedures. The staff everyone greets you at the door by your name and your baby and are so sweet. I drive over 1/2 hours each way to see him WORTH IT! read more

I don't think I could say enough good things about this place and Dr. Tsui. He is the most kind and professional doctor I have ever met. I would recommend everyone to take their pet to him. My disappointment is beyond belief. A Rude receptionist actually told me that I should plan better in the future if I need my dog vaccinated in time. I called the minute I received a reminder email. The appointment was 4 -5 weeks out but I hoped for it in 2-3 weeks. 1 vaccine is all I needed. But an important one- kennel cough. When I asked if the dr could call me so I could discuss what I could do in the mean time, I was told that I must pay a deposit of $350 in advance to have a consult appointment with dr Tom. No other options! No exceptions! Honestly??? I have had multiple dogs in their care for over 25 years! So I asked the office if dr Tom could call me and it's been over 3 weeks and I have not received a single call. read more

Dr Tsui is wonderful and seems to really know his stuff, very patient and really connected well with our dog. Unfortunately that's we're our good review ends. After moving to North Plains we had high hopes of making him our new furry-baby Dr. unfortunately, he's taken on so many patients, there's no time left in his schedule for the unexpected. When I tried to schedule an appointment to have a very large mass on our dogs neck checked out, we were told to go to the ER Vet if we wanted her seen any sooner as NPVC wouldn't be able to see her for at least 2 weeks.....that was the soonest "emergency" appointment available. For the expected, annual exams, etc...they are great, but don't expect them to go over an above......they're simply too busy with only 1 Dr on staff. For the record, we did take our baby to the ER (Tanasbourne) and waited for 7 hrs hoping to be seen, but logically, they couldn't get to her due to other higher risk patients that kept coming in. Today we called our past vet and of course they worked her in so we'll make the drive and stick with what's worked for us for over 25yrs. read more

I had scheduled a spay appointment for my pup as my regular vet was scheduling farther out, they wanted to do a new patient check up. I was fine with this, however was not expecting the up sale and pushing of products and unnecessary vaccines. Clearly they must get a kick back from these companies. They wouldn't do the spay unless my pup had the flu vaccination, which my normal vet said in this area isn't necessary especially since I don't board or go to dog parks. I have regretted this ever since I said yes, cancelled all future appts and scheduled with my regular vet. Also North Plains charges way more for a spay $250 more! North Plains NO more!!! read more

It really makes a difference in quality going to a vet-owned and operated clinic. Dr. Tsui is a scientist, not just a doctor. He will explain the problem in layman and more scientific terms, pros and cons of treatments, offer alternatives. This amount of information isn't for everyone, but for us it helps make the best decisions for our pets and we're clear *he* has a grasp on what is happening. If he doesn't as a GP, he'll say that and refers out. It really is about what's best for our furry family. They also have offered us great He also is truly delighted by spending time with the dogs and cat. it's amazing to me how someone so busy relates to them and cares about them as individuals in a strange setting to them. Dr. Tsui is very knowledgeable and explains all necessary procedures thoroughly. Ashley is an amazing groomer and is very patient with a skittish cat like mine. Superbly impressed and pleased with the clinic and staff; more so with Dr. Tsui, who treated me and my Lucy (who was in lots of pain) with respect and tenderness and lots of patience and kindness, while getting to the bottom of why she was hurting, doing the most thorough exam she's had in her 12 years, and ending up with her cuddling right up to him and Nikki before we were anywhere finished with our visit! Lucy's responding very well to treatment, and we are SOLD on our new vet! We highly recommend him to our community. (We came to him as a result of his tenderness in helping our grand-dog Samson cross the Rainbow Bridge back in March, 2019 when visiting us. This clinic is the best! I have known Dr Tom his whole career. He is smart, compassionate, understanding and goes out of his way to provide the highest quality care. I have had many poodles over the years as I was a breeder and handler for show poodles. I will only take them to Tom. The clinic staff are stars! Amanda is the receptionist and she greets everyone with a smile and accommodates your schedule for appointments. The techs are wonderful! They provide excellent care and treat each and every pet as their own. Ashley is their groomer. She does wonders with any type of grooming. I can't forget the clinic manager Sam. She jumps right in and helps as she can. She is caring and compassionate especially in times of need. I highly recommend this clinic! read more

I have noting but good to say about Dr. Tsui, Rita and staff. I took the remains of our cat in this morning who passed away early in the morning. Rita could tell that I was hurting. She is so passionate about animals that I could tell that she was also hurting with us. My wife later went in to get the paw prints that they had done for us and Dr. Tsui stopped his conversation with someone to give her a hug and send his condolences. We are lucky to have an animal health provider in our small town but we are truly blessed to have people like them there for us. A lot of times they may not hear the affect they have on people... First met Tom and his crew when l visited as an industry rep..... One of the first things that struck me was Tom talking to me about an issue one of my own dog's was having, and was being treated for at another specialty hospital.... He wasn't being critical of her treatment at all, but was so helpful in his explanation of the actual disease process that eventually claimed her life... I was so impressed I moved my other pets' care to his practice. I so appreciate the thoroughness of his exams to say nothing of the time he spends answering my questions and explaining treatments and recommendations. The phone calls to check in, go over lab results etc are awesome. Love all his staff, their treatment of my special fur babies (and boy are they 'special' ) and their support for me as the four legged's Mum. read more

The staff are very patient and always cater to our family's needs. Having multiple dogs and cats, they will double book appointments for us so we can make less trips. Dr. Tsui came out to our home with an assistant when we had to put one of our dogs to sleep. It was very personal and they are super respectful and caring. Our kids got to say goodbye, our other dog was there, and we got to hold him when he died. It is something I will never forget, and I appreciate them for coming out to help us through the experience. (And it didn't cost a lot, for those of you wondering) They staff are also very kind when my children insist on joining us for our appointments. They have actually complimented our kids' behavior, which was awesome. :-) We have also kenneled our dogs here while we have gone on non-pet vacations, and they are always fine when we leave them and happy when we come back. Dr. Tom handled my cat as if he was a member of his own family. He reminds me of the small town doctors (for humans) that we all wish we had! He is very professional, extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain things clearly. If he recommends treatments he also tells you why it is important. My kitty has a history of sturvite crystals so he is in a special diet to prevent them from forming. He has already had two surgeries to remove them. Dr. Tom suggested a sonogram (not expensive) in order to do a quick check to see if there was evidence of any forming. It was a huge relief to know that there were none. I didn't feel rushed, found him very easy to talk to and he has a great sense of humor! The bonus? Dr. Tom has a killer staff - very helpful, courteous, cheerful and friendly. read more

Dr. Tsui has been our Veterinarian for over 20 years off and on, but now permanently. He is amazing and as well as the staff.

Dr Tsui is a wonderful vet, and a wonderful person. He has treated my animals (two dogs and a cat) for over 12 years. He takes the time to carefully explain problems, and offers various treatments. He makes follow-up calls, for example to see how my doggie was doing post-op. He mentored my friend's daughter, now a wonderful vet herself. The office staff is pleasant and courteous, even after my frequent requests for additional invoice copies for insurance. I cannot believe someone called them rude - he must have been a grump. read more

We have moved often and finding a new veterinarian is always hard. We were lucky to find Dr. Tsui and his terrific staff. We had a very sick older cat. Here is the story behind our experience with NPVC: Veterinarian Thomas Tsui failed to detect an obvious case of ringworm in two kittens during a "Kitten Wellness Exam" (that cost $40 for each kitten). His incompetence led to the spreading of ringworm to two members of my family and our dog. All had to be treated with very expensive medicines and the kittens and dog had to be given sulfur dips twice a week for over a month. We could not have guests in our home for over a month - right during the Christmas Holidays. The amount of trouble and misery this caused my family and pets is almost indescribable. While we consider our experience with Thomas Tsui an unmitigated disaster, my wife and I cannot say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff is there. Too bad they don't have a decent vet to work for. They do not seem very comfortable working there. A friend who has had experience with this vet commented to us that she felt like the staff was walking on eggshells there. My wife and I got the same feeling. Avoid this vet! read more

I've been taking my fur family to Dr. Tsui for years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. I started with 2 and now have 4 dogs that I trust Dr. Tsui and his staff to care for. My pups go there for their annuals and emergency visits. Dr. Tsui is genuine, knowledgeable and funny. I really feel like they care about my dogs and me. If you're looking for a vet, this is the place. I'm picky about who cares for my dogs and since I've found him, I won't go anywhere else even though it's not that close to my home.
