New dog parent, only my third grooming appointment and first time here. The lobby area is clean, professional looking and all the staff were friendly and welcoming, even the owner Isel introduced herself. I was even invited back to meet the actual groomer - who was also friendly, she listened and made suggestions. I got a text letting me know that they done grooming. Again everyone was nice and friendly. Jenna did a fantastic job, the cut was excellent and she explained everything. The cost was very reasonable. My dog has been going to daycare here after I moved him from another local daycare where he had a bad experience. Since coming to Camp Bow Wow he is back to loving daycare and ready to jump out of the car to go play with his friends every morning. The staff are all wonderful with him and so communicative when there is any concern. They offer great enrichment options to engage the dogs they care for that run the gamut from agility to puzzles and brain games to massage. Do not go here if you want people who will actually take care of your dog! My golden got sick in his cage and got poop all over himself and camp bow wow rinsed him off but wanted to add on at least an additional $30 for an actual bath so I received my dog smelling of poop after a long trip back home. They nickle and dime you for everything. The base price is basically just for their cage and them feeding the dog. They don't play with the dogs and barely ever pay attention to them without charging extra money and are always asking if you want to add on extras. True people who care about animals wouldn't act this way for dog care! Now my dog is sick at home because of this place and is having diarrhea and throwing up. It may look clean but I wonder how much disinfectant is actually used because they just use a mop to wipe up the dog area. read more

From the moment I walked in I was greeted and noticed how clean it smelled and looked inside. I chose the FURminator Bath & Brushout. My mini Aussie loved it! Daniel did an AMAZING job. He knew exactly how to set the tone for a successful session. Daniel apparently is also a trainer. I saw from the moment he engaged with Dutch he was in good hands. Dutch had his nails done and did fantastic. As you can see Dutch was so happy! I love that I was not required to sign up for a monthly fee/treatment and can come as needed when needed. Making it budget friendly for me. Having this little Gem near my work is a bonus and definitely recommend! I also found out that they have Day care and overnight camp which is a game changer as they have live cameras that I can watch my dog if desired which makes me feel better about leaving him in the future. Our family had to head out, across country to Florida for a family reunion. Unfortunately we were not able to bring our 5 month old pup. We had visited Camp Bow Wow previously to get our friendly Chocolate Lab socialized and recognized how patient and caring the team was. They mentioned they had boarding capabilities and were able to watch our girl. We just returned from our trip and our girl did not want to leave. WARNING: DON'T TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE ANYMORE-- NEW OWNERSHIP IS TERRIBLE! I've been going here for years with my dog, Ace, for boarding, daycare, and grooming. He absolutely loves it here and loves the staff, and I've trusted their care for so long. Unfortunately, that's all changed recently due to new ownership taking over in beginning of Dec 2024, and it's been spiraling downhill since then. As many have recently highlighted in their reviews, the new owner has shown so much neglect and terrible management of the business-- including bringing in her bf to take care of management, and he was captured on camera to have hit and kick a dog that was in their care. Since then, the neglect has continued where the owner has started firing all the previous staff, hired brand new, unexperienced staff that don't know what they're doing, which have led to multiple dog injuries in their care. I'm so disappointed in Camp Bow Wow for letting this new person take over, and not doing anything about it. So many people have raised concerns, and they're turning a blind eye to it. All the great staff that used to be here were attentive and caring to the dogs, and they were pushed out. I hope people recognize all that's happening, and do not give this place any business. They aren't showing that they care for your dogs, but just trying to make money. And I, for one, am not giving them or Camp Bow Wow my business anymore since corporate also is showing that they won't do anything about this. read more

Camp Bow Wow Hillsboro has been an a great fit for our boys. I'm a contractor that regularly works in the area - it's nice to know I can drop my dogs off and they can play during the day with other dogs. We trust them completely with our dogs for both grooming and boarding. Other groomers have had issues with our retriever- but none here. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about each pup, always greeting ours by name and making him feel welcome. it WAS a great place. We have sent our dog here since Spring 2021 and given them a lot of money a long the way, happily. The service was great, and the staff were generally pretty good. What changed? New Owner. The owner has a history with Camp Bow Wow, but not a good one. They have had instances of neglect, leading to a dogs death at a former location. Staff who love my dog and I trust have been trampled over towards a new way of running the place. Has this owner improved/learned from their past? Doesn't seem so. They have employed their significant other to fill a staff shortage and police reports went on as that individual has attacked dogs. Staff I trust have attested to this, and the owner now is unclear about whether they are keeping the person on. December 1st 2024 was the changeover, and I've seen since then that they are leaving dogs unattended in the yard, exactly what staff has warned me about. The owner has even "closed up" but forgotten to get dogs out of the yard and into kennels. Also, the owner has raised prices significantly, they are on par with far superior services available nearby (Sniff around for a better choice... I'm going to). Doggy Daycare is hard, your bound to have a few situations that could have been handled better by staff, but the staff isn't the issue here, and this isn't just falling short... Had been bringing my dog here for a bit, unfortunately all of the original staff that was knowledgeable and wonderful are all gone and the new employees are uneducated and inexperienced. On top of many things that have already come out I went to pick my dog up from daycare the other day only to see that another dog had gotten bit very badly from not being supervised appropriately. This isn't the first time I've observed even my dog being left unsupervised, via the cameras, with other dogs for many hours at a time but this was probably the worst injury I had seen, it wasn't a small bite or scratch it was a deep wound and the poor dog was bleeding profusely. This has become an incredibly unsafe environment and I would not recommend leaving your dogs here. Edit: I would also like to add how unprofessional it is for an employee of the corporate office to leave a review in an attempt to boost the businesses rating. Good intentions don't mean much when dogs are being mistreated and injured in your care. read more

We had been taking our dog here for occasional day care and boarding for almost two years. The first two times boarding were ok, although we were concerned by the number of large dogs there on a daily basis. She was scheduled for a bath before pick up. A friend picked her up for us and dropped her off at home. When we got home we were shocked to see that a large section of fur on her shoulder/ mid back looked as if it had been chopped! We contacted Ian to find out what had happened. He "said" he talked to his staff, and reviewed the camera footage. He came up with no explanation other than some dogs play rough, and unless aggressive, they aren't stopped. He was never able to give any explanation of what happened, and was completely non-apologetic. So sad as this place is convenient for us and it has potential to be a great place if better managed. read more

Everything indoor is concrete which I'm not a higr fan of, they kennel them for 2 hours for lunch and then the put them back in a kennel at 5 till close. Which is 7pm. I don't understand the kennel of all dogs at 5pm when they close at 7pm. So I pay for my dog to stay in kennel for 4 hours a day. Also the workers there spilled all the tea. NEW OWNERS BEAT DOGS! the new owner anf co owner bought the place Dec 1st. The co owner, which is the owners boyfriend and maintance man, was caught on camera kicking, slapping , grabbing big dogs snouts. All the employees reported him to everywhere they could. The owner is still with the dog beater and allows him to come to the property after hours to do maintance. NOW the new owner is firing everyone at the location that was therr during the incident and getting all new untrained employees. She aposrently is just huring anyone and everyone. My dog is my kid, I'd never put my kid in danger. We will not be attending here just based on the controversy alone. They have owned it for 14 days and already beating dogs. don't go here! read more

There has been a whole new staff and the dog is not as excited about coming here anymore. I didn't realize it had changed hands until a staff member warned me about the new owner. Im a former employee and have worked here for 2 years. It wasn't until recently that I moved on to a different job. Let me make it very clear, the staff we had were amazing. We all loved the dogs like they were our own. We recently have been put under new ownership, and let me be very honest with you, it's no longer a safe space for your pups. Obviously you can see from the previous reviews, there are videos of the owners boyfriend hitting and kicking dogs. He is not allowed on the premises but supposedly is still coming by during non-operating hours to be the owners personal handyman. This means he is still around your dogs. So is the owner that condones dog abuse. The owner is also taking away the boarding and daycare packages and is refusing to give current customers refunds on their packages they already have (a lot of customers are planning on leaving understandably hence why they would want refunds.) If you are looking to bring your dog here, DONT. Most if not all of the staff are planning on leaving. The facility will be filled with new, inexperienced employees and understaffing issues as well, so no guarantee your dog will be safe. read more

I had really, really high hopes for this place after my dog's first time here. The workers seemed knowledgeable and seemed to care about the dogs. I couldn't have been more wrong. My dog was boarded from Thurs to Sunday, and on Saturday he supposedly pooped out worms (UPDATE: MY VET WAS TAKEN MULTIPLE FECAL SAMPLES AND MY DOG TESTED NEGATIVE FOR WORMS. HE'S GONE TO THE BATHROOM 6 TIMES SINCE COMING HOME AND NO SIGNS OF WORMS). He was put into quarantine for more than 30 hours. He was let out for maybe 10 minutes at a time as far as I could see, and yes I was watching his suite camera for hours on end yesterday. A counselor named Tonya made all kinds of promises to me about how he would be cared for, and apparently none of those things happened. I was shown no proof that it was my dog that had worms, and was told by Tonya I could see the footage of my dog pooping them out. That didn't happen. There were also 3 other dogs that looked EXACTLY like mine that day which is why I asked for proof. Upon returning home he went to the bathroom and there were no signs of any worms AT ALL. After finding out about all the lies I was told when I went to pick up my dog I completely lost my cool, and took it out on the poor girl working today (if you're reading this I apologize, again). I wish it was Tonya instead. The owner called me within an hour to basically try to justify the lies told to me even though it sounded like he had no idea what I was told by Tonya. He then banned me from returning. Oh noooo. I'm banned from a place I had no intention of ever returning to. What am I ever going to do? At the end of the day this place locked my dog in a room for over 30 hours WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF of him having worms, didn't let him out nearly enough, and STILL CHARGED ME FULL PRICE. If you care about your dog don't take them here. P.S. They also lost my dog's $20 silicone tag. UPDATE 2: The owner responded on Facebook and stated, in regards to my dog's stool, that a "foreign object turned out to be a worm or at least appeared to be a worm". In November 2022 my dog was viciously attacked by another dog while in their care. They never told me the severity of the injuries to my dog before I arrived to pick her up, nor did they tell me what happened when I got there. I had to rush her to the emergency vet (drove all the way from Seattle, where I was in vacation) and spend $400 on pain meds and wound care. They told me they would review the video footage and the manager would call me the next day. Instead, the manager emailed me and said my dog was responsible and they wouldn't be paying the vet bill. I called them after receiving the email to complain. They put me on hold and tried to say the manager was unavailable. Someone from the front desk accidentally called me back while in the middle of a discussion between staff about my dog being mauled and I overheard them saying that they were going to pretend the manager was not there. When I called back after they hung up (realized they had called.me on accident) the manager got on the phone and confessed to saying what I had heard. I requested to view the footage of what happened the previous day myself and they wouldn't allow me, as they blamed my reaction upon seeing my dog mauled and having open wounds for triggering an employee who they claimed had a history domestic violence (has nothing to do with my dog being mauled, and I am not responsible for the people they employ to handle upset patrons). They also threatened to trespass me if I showed up (cant legally do that if a complaint hasn't been filed with law enforcement). My girlfriend was able to convince them to let her see the video, to which I found out my dog wasn't responsible, but was attacked by a dog after a skirmish between two other dogs. The owner arrived and then called the police on my girlfriend and also told the police he didn't know if she had a weapon (extremely dangerous thing to do and completely unnecessary). The police arrived and simply let her leave. I called the owner after everything happened and complained about the behavior from the staff. I simply asked that my vet bill be covered OR they let me see the footage. The owner refused both. I complained to corporate headquarters and never heard back. I would never ever trust my dog at this place of business. There are other reviews that complain about the video recording policy and not showing patrons footage of occurrences that happen with their pet--believe those reviews! The owner is not accountable for his staff nor does he try to make things right with his customers when a negative experience occurs. Instead, he tried to physically intimidate my girlfriend, called the police on her, gave me the excuse that his staff is a bunch of teenagers that don't know the policies of the company (again, has nothing to do with not being accountable for what happened to my dog), and refused to pay for my vet bill. It is understandable that accidents happen at dog daycares, but at the very least be transparent and professional and rectify complaints when your staff is in the wrong. Again, this place is not a safe place to bring your dog for boarding. read more

Terrible place. Inconsistent groom, run by young idiots that do not know what they are doing. They rush through the service to get ya dog in and out quick and you can tell by the work. A lady and her son refused to wear a mask in the lobby. Another customer and I asked them to wear a mask and they refused, so we both went out and waited in the parking lot. They were Covid deniers claiming he had a "breathing problem". The other angry customer said why can't you wait outside then? That lobby is not ventilated. What I am most nonplussed about is when I said I won't be coming back and they could ban that customer, the front desk person said, "that's ok you won't be coming back". They claim they didn't notice the person without a mask. However, they had two angry customers waiting in the parking lot and the Covid deniers were inside for at least 10 minutes talking to the front desk. Also that pony tail person invalidated a pandemic Oregon state law by saying, "that's ok you won't be coming back". So, if you value public health and your and your families' health, I would stay away. If you are a Covid denier then this is your place! read more

My dog has gone to camp since he was a puppy almost 4 years now. Recently new owners have taken over as of Dec 1st ,it was brought to my attention that one of the owners was caught on camera kicking and hitting dogs. I did confront the owner about the incidents and asked her for their side of what happened. I was told yes this was true and the employee was terminated and no longer allowed back on the premises. I then told the manager was this not your partner who was in with the large dogs and was the person who abused the dogs? she became defensive said yes but "the facility was left with minimal staffing and she had no choice but to have him help (he has no training whatsoever) she did state her partner is no longer allowed on premises during business hours but is a maintenance employee " she feels that the current staff is wanting her to make an example of his actions which she will not do because he is part owner and her partner ???? She also stated she has been in the business for 15 years which to me was surprising because with this much knowledge you would think she would know better!!! I let her know the camp bow wow staff has always been great but due to this incident and her side of the story on what occurred and lack of responsibility being taken my dog will NO longer go to camp ...I do not feel this is a SAFE place for him read more

Less than 1 star Today I was shocked to see a small dog attendant randomly spraying the dogs in her care with water, including mine. I have been bringing my dogs here for 2 years and have witnessed the profound decline in all aspects, administration to daycare experience, but this is a new low. If Ian is still the Trainer at this business I would be amazed. In all his training sessions,that I experienced,he emphasized positive engagement. Spray Bottles Have No Place in Animal Training Spraying a dog with water to curb unwanted behavior has been used for decades. Cats are lumped into this punishment-based technique too; they're often sprayed for scratching furniture or climbing on countertops. Dog spraying is employed by owners for any behavior they find inappropriate. But does spraying your dog with water work? Does dog spraying work? Maybe temporarily, but it's a new day. We now know that training your dog with negative techniques such as dog spraying can do a lot of harm. Fortunately, we have newer and very effective ways to discourage undesirable animal behavior, so throw away that spray bottle! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. We brought our 6 month old doodle puppy here, and after watching the footage of him sitting alone in the corner, I called to check on him. They reassured me that he was okay. It wasn't until we picked him up 5 hours later and got home that we noticed he had a bloody wound on his neck. The next day, I went into camp bow wow and asked what happened. They watched the footage from the day, and not even 30 minutes after I had dropped him off, he was attacked by 3 aggressive dogs. The employee stood there and didn't intervene! She didn't separate the dogs or make sure my puppy was okay. The rest of the day he was picked on by the same dogs, over and over for five hours. The employee told NO ONE about this. The only way I found out was by going there and asking. I'm also currently paying a $600 vet bill because my puppy also got giardia from this unclean facility. The giardia was brought in from one of the employees dogs, and it spread to the others. I brought my dog into this place paying for and trusting good care of my dog, and I left with a sick, wounded and fearful puppy. On the phone with the manager, he said and I quote: "the employee had insufficient training and didn't know what to do" he also said that only high schoolers apply for this job, so the only well trained people are management. This whole place is a joke. I'm extremely disappointed that they won't make this right. read more

I went through the whole interview process this fall and took my dog a few times. I switched to WFH and didn't need any daycare for my dog for 6 months. I updated them every time my dog needed vaccinations assuming my dog would go back at some point. Apparently you have to do a re-interview every 6 months leaving me to try and find last minute care for my dog even though i kept in contact with them. It doesn't say anywhere on the site that interviews only last months nor did i get any communications. read more

His manager is lying about their first phone conversation. I was sitting next to him having breakfast with 5 other people who all heard what was said on speakerphone. I needed to board my 1 year old pup for the first time on relatively short notice & decided to give this place a try. They require a free behavioral assessment to ensure your pup will "find their way into the pack". I appreciated this step. It also introduced my dog to the facility & staff. My dog "passed" & we were able to book boarding for the following week. The live stream app they use is convenient, easy, comforting as a dog parent & keeps things transparent. I thought the boarding fee was reasonable & really like that my dog can play during the day rather than being in a kennel like traditional boarding. Throughout the process the staff was friendly. - 4 Month Review - During the first month of using doggy daycamp, i was very satisfied with the place. Employees were nice, and i really appreciated the camera access...but slowly the cons starting becoming evident. First off, their front office never answer phone calls! Ive called up to 12 times in a day, and never get an answer. This is obviously problematic for a multitude of reasons. Ultimately, ive learned to communicate with them through email, but this is obviously ridiculous for the amount of money im paying. Theyre a business...answer the phone! Aside from this constant battle of trying to reach them, ive had the following incidents: 1. Day Camp: My dog has came home with bite/wound on his back. Ian (the manager) was actually very unapologetic and told me that he was probably just dirty....though i sent pictures and explained how the area had bloodied over his coat. I can understand that dogs might play rough from time to time, but whats really bad is when the manager is just lacking basic Customer Service Etiquette. No reassurances were given by place. 2. Grooming issue: I planned a bath for my dog, and also scheduled play time for him prior to the bath (so he gets a complete Half day of play). Apparently the groomers were bored, so they grabbed my dog 2 HOURS before his scheduled bath appointment just to get it over with. He pretty much got robbed of 2 hours of play, and i still had to pay full price. When i complained about this to the front desk, she said the groomer was new? No discount or rectification for their screw up. Yet again, im paying a ton of money for bad service! OHH, and btw, when i picked him up after his bath, he was soaking wet because "he spilled water" after his bath." 3. Dog Boarding: I booked 2 nights/3 days of boarding for 4th of July weekend. When i picked him up after the trip, we come to learn that my dog hadnt eaten for 2 full days!!! AT ALL!! he only ate 1 small portion, but nothing after that. I never got a call from them alerting me to the issue! This is absolutely unbelievable! This was the last straw for me! My dog was playing all day, and never got to eat?! Isnt it common knowledge or policy for them to call the owner when something like that is happening? Furthermore, the manager was incredibly problematic yet again during this interaction. He wanted to overcharge us because their system was messing up our boarding dates. He also said that our dog wasnt showered (EVEN THOUGH HE WAS). The display of disorganization coming from the manager is very upsetting. As before, he was unapologetic despite my dog not being fed and all the other system errors he created on his end. At the end of the day, another nice lady came and helped my husband sort out the charges. No rectification for the terrible service was made by them. 4. Grooming/Boarding: scheduled one more boarding session, and bath before pick up....we received our dog wet for the same reason as before, "he got himself wet in the pool after the shower while peeing him." The entire point of showering him after a boarding period is so that hes clean. So after you shower him you allowed him near a dirty pool for a dip?!? FURTHERMORE....we got our dog back with 3 wounds on his lips and snout. The black skin layer has peeled off, and now his flesh is exposed. Its really sad to come back from a trip to see injuries on your dog. and yet again, paying an obscene amount of money for this. At this point, im so tired of this place. There are obviously nice workers, but at the same time they have a terrible manager and other bad workers. Ive shed so much money on such bad services, which is why im compelled to write this review. Ill be trying out SNIFF next. Even if theyre more expensive, im willing to pay more for quality service. While camp may be ok, all of their other services have been terrible!!! read more

We started using this place in in April when we got a new puppy. It's close to our house and we had heard great things. We loved how friendly and welcoming the staff was. The obedience classes were excellent as well. We had a 10 day trip planned over thanksgiving and decided to board our dog with Camp Bow Wow Hillsboroagain since we've had good experiences prior. At drop off the staff was not friendly or welcoming not the usually people we have seen before. I just assumed they were new or having an off day. I had a coupon for a bath so I inquired about having my dog get a bath before I picked him up we discussed having an add on sanitary trim done on his face, bum and paws since he's long shaggy hair doodle. They confirmed the price of $36 for large dog fresh and clean bath. And then I had my 50% off coupon. I usually bathe him at home but since he needed a trim this would work out great. He was set to get a bath at noon on pick up day. I called just before to let them know we were home and to call when he was done so we could pick up. When we went to pick him up. They told me the total for boarding and bath. But never gave me a print out of what u was being charged for. It seemed high and I had already calculated what it would be prior to arriving. They didn't give me a paper copy of charges to review just showed me the total on the card reader and asked me to scan my card. I handed my coupon for the 50% off bath and she said it was a two year old coupon. I mentioned it was given to me in my packet in May from this location. And i have used two other coupons on that card with no issue this year. She deducted the coupon but wasn't happy about doing it. The total she gave me still seemed high with my coupon deducted. They still did not give me visual or print out of what they were charging me for, just the total price. I again looked at the price sheet on the counter and the poster posted on the grooming door to recheck my calculations on price. It wasn't adding up to what they were charming me. They seemed irritated when I asked for confirmation and breakdown of charges. Still never gave me a print out just verbally reading out charges they could see on the computer. Come to find out they were charging me $56 for the bath! I said I was told $36. She said they recently raised their rates. So I pointed out the price list on the counter as well as the listed price guide on the grooming door show the $36 price. She was very irritated and worked to adjust the price. During that time they brought out my dog. He was still wet (it was 40 degrees outside) not brushed and no trim. I mentioned he was supposed to be trimmed. She said it's hard to get same day grooming appt with a bath appt. Usually they book out a week or more in advance. I reminded her i made the appointment with the trim add on over 11 days ago when i dropped off my dog. She said they didn't charge for the trim because their groomer had gone home sick her words were "she was throwing up all over the place" (super professional) I again mentioned the only reason I had signed up to have him get a bath was to have the sanitary trim done or else I would have bathed him at home myself and saved the money. She said there was nothing they could do since she had to send the groomer home. I said I had called today just before his grooming appt and no one said anything. Shouldn't they have called to let me know?after finally getting my total correct and not being charging me for the grooming. She said I was good to go. No apology for the issues or anything. I then realized she didn't give me my coupon card back with my remaining unused coupons back. When I asked for it she said these were given out by the previous manager. She wasn't going to give it back to me. I again had to state that it was given to me this year to use and i wanted it back. She eventually gave me back the card. The new management and staff are awful and shady. I got my dog home and I'm not sure what they used to wash him but his fur was clumpy, coarse/rough and coming out in large chunks which is not normal for my hair shaggy doodle and he's usually very soft. While brushing him he wouldn't allow me to brush near his rear. Upon further examination how whole butt and under tail area were bright red and raw looking and obviously tender because he growled when i even tried to inspect it which is very out of character. The fact that no one noticed or that they did notice and failed to mention it is very concerning! (there is no way they could have missed it during grooming!!) I would give 100 stars if I could. Every interaction I've had here is positive, wonderful and upbeat. I've used camp bow wow for training, grooming, and puppy socialization for our giant breed puppy. He drags me inside because he loves it so much (what puppy loves getting their nails trimmed?). They've alerted me to issues even our vet has overlooked. I can't say enough about how much care and attention they give, not just to my dog, but to ensuring the health and safety of everyone and every animal who walks through the door.
