My husband and I were really happy we got a chance to check out Pupukea Grill. We first tried to go on Tuesday, but the food truck wasn't there and they weren't open. I tried calling, but no answer. Luckily, we were nearby and found another good local spot, but we had our mind set on this place. We were leaving on Thursday, so I called ahead to make sure they were open before heading back. Good thing--they were open, and we were able to try some amazing food. It wasn't too busy, but they were already sold out of a few things by noon. We ordered the BBQ chicken quesadillas and a Brazilian lemonade. While waiting for our food, we sat in the covered seating area. It rained off and on, but it eventually stopped, and we stayed dry. Our food took about 15 minutes to be ready, and when it came out, it was super fresh and hot. We enjoyed every bite. It came with black beans and rice, and the Brazilian lemonade was light and super refreshing. Everything was delicious. We would definitely come back again! Somehow I've never tried this place but I've only ever heard great things, and it definitely lived up to expectations! The location is convenient being right across from sharks cove, so it's great after a dive/snorkel, and the service is quick. Plenty of vegan/vegetarian items too. It is on the pricier side but again, what isn't these days and the quality is high. The poke was fresh and portioned well, and I like that they offer a salad and quinoa option instead of rice for a healthier choice. The cookies are small but really good. read more

This is outstanding food cart food on the North Shore. There's always a line and it always moved fast. The quesadilla here is in my top 5 quesadillas had ever. And I've had a lot. The biggest bummer is their hours. It's pretty mucha lunch and when-grandma-eats-dinner affair. I suggest leaving Shark's Cove a little early to make sure you can catch them before they close! This food truck is only about 300' from our Air B&B, so very convenient. We have found that the several food truck offerings we have had so far are quite filling. This Pupukea Grill was no exception. You order at the window. The special for the day was an ahi and salmon poke bowl that you could add avocado too as well. Rice, thinly sliced red onions, cucumber and micro-greens round out this poke bowl. We each added a smoothie to our order. My wife had the banana based one, and I had the berry one. We ate those first and found we were pretty full. So we saved our poke bowls for lunch the next day. Still good and very filling. Probably won't need dinner tonight. Picnic tables are available to eat on. We chose to take ours back because we are so close. The ordering process is very easy. In our case we could just tell them what we wanted, but you can also order on line. Payment by credit card is easiest. Hard to describe the environment for a food truck. But in general it appears clean, which is important. Good food at a reasonable price, so we will most likely try this place again. read more

I will give this one a four overall. The food was definitely above average, the prices were fair, seating was also adequate and plentiful, the view was amazing! Have not read any other reviews, but my tip to you is that the plates are definitely shareable. We bought too much food... For example, my swordfish tacos had three swordfish steaks and three tortillas plus all of the other fixings to go with it. After hours of snorkeling at Shark's Cove, my family and I walked across the street to Pupukea Grill for lunch. This is a stationary food truck. They provide shaded outdoor seating - 6 tables and 1 bench. We were famished, so we placed our orders and patiently waited for our food. I had the following: Spicy Tuna Poke bowl - good flavor, but a small portion. I expected more for the price ($16). Also, I didn't enjoy the rice. It was a little undercooked or old (hard texture). Chicken quesadilla - my son ordered this and I took a bite. I don't recommend this; it was bland. The beans and rice lacked seasoning also. Overall: 3.5-stars My family enjoyed their Kalua pork quesadillas and raved about it, so I increased my rating and rounded up. read more

One of the best food trucks in North Shore! Always a great place to stop by to get food after being at the beach all day. Ordering is fast and food usually only takes 10-15 minutes, even when busy. My bf loves the Kalua pig quesadilla and I'm always in the mood for their OG açaí bowl. The pork is marinated to perfection and combines well with the generous serving of cheese in the quesadilla. I'm amazed I could even get it a picture before it was devoured. The açaí is a great blend and the banana slices, blueberries and strawberries are always so fresh. I love going here for lunch when I'm in north shore. I've only had their Hawaiian bowl but that is enough to keep me coming back. It has spicy ahi, lomi salmon, kalua pig, and sweet potato mash all on brown rice. It's so tasty and so filling. My fav is the sweet potato mash, it's so unique and I've never seen another restaurant offer it. They have a covered seating area if you want to eat there and a small parking lot right next to it with 2-3 stalls. There is also plenty of parking across the street. Right across Kamehameha highway by Shark's Cove is a delightful food truck. Pupukea Grill was the perfect light meal I needed while snorkeling in Shark's Cove. The açaí smoothie was so refreshing with fresh banana slices, strawberries, blueberries and coconut shavings; it gave me a boost of energy to continue snorkeling until sunset. The spicy tuna poké was incredibly fresh and had me wanting more. The furikake gave a little saltiness to the savory flavor from the poké and avocados. Hard rice and stale seaweed. Service is not friendly. Aloha spirit is lacking. The ladies are pretty short with customers and seem to be just grumpy. Love the dressing that came on the salad and quinoa and if I get this again, i will probably ask for more dressing on top everything. I wasn't super full after, but was very satisfied. The onions were a bit strong. Quesadillas- Chicken was really good and didn't taste frozen. Such a big portion and good for sharing! Comes with beans, rice, salsa, lettuce, sour cream. Whenever I'm on the north shore side stopping here is a must! Acai bowl with everything on top the best! I usually go to the location in Waipahu (Pupukea Grindz) and on their Açaí bowl they put this sweet potato mash on it which is my favorite part. Haleiwa location was nice enough to add that on to my açaí bowl and add extra fruits! They were also extra kind and gave me two spicy rolls for sample which was the bomb with that shoyu Teri sauce on the side! The two woman workers at the truck was so kind to go that extra extent. They also remembered me as the girl that goes to the Waipahu location and asked for the purple mash! Lol Which was cool. If you ever get a chance eating at either location has bomb food and great hospitality! The workers are so friendly! And the food won't disappoint. Always fresh ingredients and food made with love. Overhyped in my opinion. Got the spicy ahi tuna poke bowl. It was a little small. There was way too much sauce and i felt like i was just eating sauce and fish with a sprinkle of rice. It was a little hard to eat since it was a little salty with so much sauce. The flavor was good though. My partner got the 2 choice combo with pork and chicken. The pork was kinda dry. Best food truck hands down in Northshore of Oahu. There are many food trucks in Pūpūkea to Kahuku, but this one seems to be worth every dollar. There pokes are sashimi grade fish and all the veggies are fresh as it can be. Good mixture of spice and shoyu makes their food better than average.
