Service not good. This place is very busy. Only one Barista there and looked exhausted. I was first time there, didn't know where is things and what. Barista seemed didn't care. This little gem is at the entrance of Stadium Thriftway. I always ask for an iced coffee with a strong chocolate, and really creamy flavor. I swear it's the best I've ever had. The only struggle here for me is the grocery store doors sensor for the automatic door ‍ If you stand directly in front of the register anytime you move the door opens to Thriftway so I try to patiently wait outside of the sensor while Karen after Karen never fail to walk right in-font of me as if I don't exist. The barista this afternoon was SUPER SWEET. She made my drink exactly how I asked for it. BLESS HER HEART, she had a chatty Cathy of a customer before my order and politely carried the conversation into helping me. I'm a former barista & bartender, time is money in these establishments! I don't know if they tipped her, but I made sure to leave a $5 minimum for her time & patience! She made my drink quickly & with a great attitude about! The coffee shop is right next to an entrance/exit to a grocery store, despite the heavy foot traffic they are efficient in getting their drinks out on time. Great little coffee stand right outside of Thriftway! They have many, many options as well as 4 or 5 rotating holiday specials. The "fall mocha" was really good! Plenty of milk alternative options, which I always like (even though oat is definitely the best!), along with friendly and mostly speedy service. The only "downside" to this place is the location. Since it's right outside of the door to Thriftway it can be very difficult to keep distanced from everyone. Either way, it was a nice experience and I'd happily drink more of their coffee! read more

This is a great neighborhood coffee shop, with quality coffee, a wide variety of drinks and a great staff. The Stadium District of Tacoma is my favorite neighborhood. I lived there for four years and did business there for several more. I'm retired and living in another part of Tacoma now, but still frequent businesses in the Stadium District. Another reason to treasure this coffee shop is that it survived four years of construction of a light rail system through the heart of the area. It also survived the arrival of a national coffee shop chain and a regional chain just a block away. Those two are gone now. North Slope Coffee lives on. That is stellar testimony to the staff and the quality of their product. read more

My first visit, the wonderful person behind the counter was so friendly, welcoming, and personable, I really want to love this place. However, I need good espresso because I drink it straight or as a macchiato and therefore the espresso itself has to be good. The real winning product here is the human interaction, but if you want a fancy cold drink (especially with fresh-squeezed lemonade, which they do very well) or something like a whip-cream topped caramel double-thick-over-the-top-calorie-bomb, then I'm pretty sure you'll be happy. read more

I've met a couple girls in the morning that are really friendly and make great coffee, specially Paige! She's always killin it with my drink and i love being greeted and talked to in the morning. But that's not the case for a lot of the ladies when I'm there. Sometimes they don't even acknowledge me while I stand there wait for them to finish talking. I wasn't going to write a bad review... but then I got this last night I just asked for a white chocolate and my first sip was chunks of unstirred hard white chocolate sugar crusted to the bottom of my drink. I mentioned it to some people who where working there the next day, but no one seemed to really care. They said that they knew the barista who made it is bad at making coffee then seemed to brush it off with no apology or even attempt to make this situation right. I started coming here in January of 2013 when I found out that they had coconut as a flavor year round. They also have pumpkin spice year round. Drip is self serve but they are always happy to add a flavor for me. They have given me treats and ice water for my dogs too. ( I'm a dog walker so this adds up). The staff and owners are awesome! The owner is super sweet and on-site every weekday. Quality is high and consistent and worth paying for. Pricing is similar to Starbucks-- but with none of the commercialized fakeness. I have a vegan friend who swears this is the best soy vanilla chai she's ever had AND when I order chais they double check if I forget to say soy--just in case. Great coffee stand! Lovely people working there! I prefer to support local, starbucks is just up the hill but they are NEVER consistent. This place may be a bit pricey but I don't really care. So is Starbucks. Get the lemon zinger if you have a cold, you will not be disappointed. The blended chai is also great on a warm day along with the strawberry lemonade and blended smoothies! But this place in addition to Starbucks charges the standard cost as any other cafe for a espresso drink but only give you one shot. WTF? Stadium district, you need to get you act together. I have never been to a coffee stand and just been ignored the whole time. These two women took my order then just chatted with each other the whole time. Even gossiped about another employee who apparently "always calls in." I was so shocked. It was not only rude in general, it was super unprofessional as a business. I worked in a coffee shop as a teenager and I had better manners than these two grown women. Aside from that, coffee tastes good at least. read more

I live in the area and get my coffee at north slope, a five shot Americano no room for cream.....And it always reminds me of a rich dark Baker's chocolate. I'm usually there five mornings out of the week for the coffee and the diverse crowd of customers that frequent North Slope. I've been to the other two coffee shops in the immediate area of Wright park and they don't compare in flavor or in service. Multiple times I have stood there right across the counter from the lady and she does not even acknowledge me, make eye contact or even say "Hi, I'll be with you in one minute".
