Got there just before 8 a.m. and there was already a line, but service was quick. The biscuits were flavorful, and the avocado portion was generous enough for two people. The cheesecake was fire! Plenty of parking, great music, and a welcoming atmosphere. If you're in the Tacoma area, this place is definitely worth a visit. Just arrive early--popular items sell out fast. We'll be back!

Overall I really enjoyed my visit. First off, I genuinely love the owner, Haley. I'm a big fan of how unapologetically herself she is and how she brings that energy and expression into her business. Like it or not, she makes her stances known, and I respect the hell out of that. It gives the place real personality. My girlfriend surprised me by bringing me here for my birthday after I'd been wanting to try it for a long time, which made the visit extra special. I will say -- and Haley, I know you read your reviews -- the girl who rang us up was a little snippy, which was a bit disappointing, especially on my birthday. Everything was rung up correctly, but the interaction itself wasn't the warmest. Food-wise though? So good!! I ordered the Fig Papa, which wasn't my first choice, but I was told they couldn't cook the eggs the way I wanted on the dish I originally wanted (which felt a little strange). That steered me toward this as a second choice, and honestly, I'm glad it did -- it was delicious, and I really loved it. I do still wish I could've tried my original pick the way I wanted it, but it is what it is. My girlfriend got the weekly rotating menu item -- a Mediterranean biscuit -- and she really enjoyed it. I didn't try it, but it was a huge portion. And let me just say: the biscuits here are unreal. Biscuits are usually a forgettable side for me -- dry, boring, whatever -- but not these. These are hands down the best biscuits I've ever had in my life, and I've been craving them ever since we left. They also had a seasonal pumpkin horchata, which I absolutely loved. It tasted like pumpkin pie in drink form -- creamy, cozy, and exactly what I wanted. For dessert, I got the cranberry bliss cheesecake, and my girlfriend got the Thin Mint cheesecake. Both were fantastic. Cheesecake can be heavy, so the fact that I basically had multiple dessert off this one piece of cake made me so happy. Despite a small service hiccup, the food, creativity, and overall experience were great. I can't wait to come back and try more items -- especially those biscuits again.

Since they took down my previous post. Let me try and say what I experienced in a different way. The place was dirty. Like really gross. And the booth that we were going to sit in had stains of a questionable nature on the seat. Not only that when I commented on it, I was called a liar and put down. I'm not trying to start anything with them, but the stain appeared to be human in nature. As for the food, The biscuits were wonderful but the gravy was disgusting. Maybe we got the wrong thing, but a place that promotes biscuits and gravy shouldn't have orange gravy that tastes bad. I will not be back simply for the attitude and comments of the staff and I don't recommend you go there either

The wait was worth it! When we got there at 9:10 am we were already 15-20 people in. This is a casual place with a lot of personality. You order your food at the counter and then you find a seat. There is plenty of seating outside. The day we went, it was actually warmer outside than inside. We got the Southern tac which is a fried green tomato, balsamic onion jam, runny egg; the fig poppa with goat cheese and sausage and fig jam. On the side, we got an order of thick cut bacon (3 slices and they were perfectly crunchy and meaty).'we ordered a hash brown and biscuit w blueberry earl grey to go. I was impressed by the sturdiness of the to-go sauce containers. The prices were very reasonable for the quality. Some things to note--these aren't complaints: the drip coffee is weak (free refills), minors are not allowed for dine in (which is great if you want adult only dining), and the music is loud metal. Even when we left at 10:15, there was still a really long line.

The food, service and cost was on point! So delicious, I wish My stomach was bigger! Highly recommended and We will be back! When they ask your "Biscuit" choice get the Cheese!!!

It's been a minute since I've been to side piece probably over a year... the thing I respect most about this business is how much they value their community. I came in on a weekday because I was in the area and rarely does that happen anymore. The person working the register was super chill and laid back and helped me decide between 2 cheesecake. I've tried a few things here and ordered the "That's How it Comes" (apologies if that is not the exact name). It's a basic breakfast sandwich on a biscuit and maybe I'm a basic B, but that has been my favorite thing I've ordered here. It made it all the way home wrapped in its little paper wrapping and was still delicious. Still a 5 star taste and service for me from this Side Piece action.

First time at side piece and we went in on a Saturday morning around 11:20 AM. There was a line out the door so we didn't know how long it would take; however, the line moved pretty rapidly since you order at the counter, you pay and then you choose your seat. There's actually a decent amount of seating so I wouldn't worry about that. We decided to order the hot hitter w/ a cheddar biscuit, biscuits (buttermilk biscuit) and gravy with half sausage and half mushroom, a latke hash brown that comes with sour cream and jam, an iced Horchata, and one ice Horchata cold brew. We waited about 10 minutes before our food came out and we were absolutely amazed. Everything looked and tasted absolutely delicious. The hash brown was evenly fried and it tasted so good with sour cream and jam, the biscuits and gravy were so luscious. The sausage and mushroom combo was perfection as the biscuit soaked up all of the gravy. The hot hitter came with a huge portion of eggs. I wasn't too big of a fan of the tomato jam, but I did love the bacon and cheese and the cheddar biscuit. I 100% recommend everyone go, if I lived nearby, I would definitely go back and try more items from the menu

    Avocado toast

Yes, yes, yes!! How many times has a restaurant just met expectations or was decent enough? This spot is great, the quality, flavor, not overly salty, fresh ingredients, thoughtfully prepared, I'll be back! Me and my wife had the biscuits and gravy (mushroom) and avocado toast. We did get potato latke, it's ok. I can do without that for the price. Great work side piece!

What grabs your eye as you drive past is the "dank af biscuits". They couldn't be more accurate in describing the quality of their biscuits. I enjoyed the Hanna Montana with a mimosa. Reminded me of a monte cristo made with biscuits for the bread. Flaky and delicious without being too dense. The brown sugar cheesecake was amazing with very rich flavor and not too sweet. The cheesecake sells out fast and the store will close once they run out for the day. The staff was very friendly and the seating is a little crowded, so not great for large parties. They will also not sit you till your entire party is at the restaurant. I would gladly eat here again and would recommend to family and friends

    Stoner SOS and avocado toast

Very fun restaurant with stellar vibes! We got the avocado biscuit and the stoner SOS. Both included hefty portions that were absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome immediately. I highly recommend side piece kitchen and can't wait to try more dishes!

You absolutely have to get here before nine on the weekends. I was able to order and get a table around 8:50ish. The line was outside by 9:30. I ordered a cold brew, mimosa, avacado toast to go, the baca and cheddar scramble dining in. Three people joined me and they tried the biscuit and gravy and the loud pack. Every single dish was DELICIOUS. When I hear someone say hidden gem, this is what they mean. It's small, tucked in a corner, and barely presents as a restaurant. I live around the corner and pass by everyday and I had no idea this was a breakfast/brunch spot. The cashiers were really nice and they have someone cleaning constantly. It's also not overpriced and you will have no trouble parking. 10 out of ten for me. Absolutely recommended.

Scratch made delight! We had the taco "mess" as I called it, and the Hannah Montana. They were awesome. Believe it or not, you can taste the incredibly flakey and delicious biscuit under all the fixins'. Soooo goood!! We also got Lemon Up & Tagalongs cheesecakes to-go and wow! They are incredible!

On our most recent visit we tried the nachos, and they were honestly the best nachos I've ever had. The cheese sauce is amazing- not some gross canned stuff. Dirty Oscar's Annex - Disappointing Experience on 6th Ave…read more We came in as a group of seven, and unfortunately the experience went downhill quickly. First, the service was poor and disorganized. One of my friends arrived early and ordered her drink, but it didn't arrive until after I had already received mine -- even after she asked twice. We also had to wait far too long for basic things like napkins and forks because we weren't given enough for everyone. The most frustrating part, however, was the automatic gratuity. At no point were we informed -- verbally or on the menu -- that parties of 6 or more are charged an automatic 20% gratuity. We only discovered it by carefully reviewing our checks. And to make matters worse, the so-called "20%" was not actually 20%. It came out to 24.1%. When we questioned it, the person who said she was the manager claimed "the computer does it automatically." We are a table full of teachers -- and the math was definitely not mathing. We understand and respect gratuity for large parties, especially when the service is great or when it's clearly communicated. But charging more than the stated percentage crosses from poor service into a billing integrity issue. To add to the frustration, there is also a credit card processing fee, which again was not clearly disclosed on the menu and only appeared at the bottom of the receipt. This absolutely should be visibly posted before ordering. They did offer to refund some of the charges, but we declined because it would have taken additional time and we had an event to get to -- and more importantly, it doesn't resolve the core issue of lack of transparency. She also gave each of us a $10 gift card, but again, that doesn't resolve the issue. And honestly, what good is a gift card if we don't plan on returning because of such an awful experience? Overall, this was a very disappointing visit, and not one we would recommend based on service and transparency alone.

My last review was honest but a 1star- now they could have ignored it, denied it or even got rude about it- after all others have (see aspen house) But no, they reached out and asked to open up dialogue- they asked what could be done and they APOLOGIZED- ownership and accountability! The communication was on point and the definitely made good on everything! So we set out to give it another go- and seriously- I may have a new place to hang out! As a non drinker your average joint has water juice or soda- not here The selection of non alcoholic beers and the DELICIOUS MOCKTAILS!!!! A place that doesn't get upset when you order a fancy non alcoholic drink- and you get the feel of being a part of it all not just sippin a soda! Loooved ! Personally hooked on the sweet n tangy- (Sweet & Tangy DHOS Orange, lemon & lime juice, simple, & raspberry puree ) ---delicious! My partner tried a couple non alcoholic beers he didn't even know existed- excellent variety to make everyone feel a part of the crowd!! And if you love a good drink?? They only carry high end liquor and make their drinks definitely top notch! The kind of place that values quality!!! While keeping the prices competitive and honest! Now the food- BRIE- ohhhh the Brie dishes!!! Not many places create food art- creative delicious classic combos with a unique twist! Absolutely the place to check out and try a new dish! Unique items that I'm dying to go back for!!! One definitely to try-- "Apple Brie Grilled Cheese Apple chutney with caramelized onions, granny smith apple slices, brie & cheddar cheese, melted between parmesan crusted 3 Hearts Bread" yummmmmmm The best part though- the people- friendly outgoing crew that you can tell genuinely care about each other and also care about making sure that the people stopping by have a wonderful experience!!! If you're in the area or live near there- check them out- definitely the kinda place to stop in on the regular and make it a thing!!!! Can be smidge hard to find due to construction that should end soon but worth the hunt!!! A total Gem!! Good quality food, excellent service, and a 10/10 place to stop in! Finally got a chance to try it at noon today, and it was a great experience! Environment: The overall vibe is very American. There were TVs on the walls constantly playing various ball games, like today's playoff game between the Thunder and the Lakers. It was pretty busy on the weekend, especially the outdoor seating area, which was almost full. The building is an old structure dating back to the 1900s. Though it shows its age, it's very clean both inside and out--you can tell the owner really cares. Service: Our waitress was very, very friendly and professional. She gave us great recommendations, always served with a smile, checked in on us during the meal, and refilled our water. Very satisfied! Taste: Pizza: There's a funny little story: supposedly, Marco Polo went to China and saw pies, but didn't know how to wrap the filling inside, so he just put it on top--and thus the pizza was born. Personally, I think this is a myth, or many people have started fantasizing about Marco Polo because they think he was too great. But according to various unearthed historical records in China, Marco Polo never actually went to China. In fact, around 2010, more than 20 scholars organized an event called "Retracing Marco Polo's Route." After completing the journey and comparing it to what Marco Polo himself recorded, most of them concluded that he probably never made it to China. Sorry, I have a strong urge to share--went off on a long tangent about Marco Polo. But the pizza was really delicious. It should be truly fire‑baked, not oven‑baked. The sauce was well‑balanced, and the toppings were generous and fresh. My wife and I ate more than half of it! Salad: The dressing and cheese were very generously applied, and the greens were fresh. Chicken wings: They had a pleasant sweet‑savory taste, just right. Unlike most American restaurants where they're too salty or too sweet, these were perfectly balanced. All the dipping sauces were good. Overall, highly recommended!
