We finally had had enough of the overpriced, unreliable mess that is Time Warner or Spectrum, or whatever in the hell it's called now, and dumped everything - phone, internet, and cable. In 5 days the switch was made, with an installation time of less than 2 hours. The internet speed is awesome, the cable is excellent (except "on demand" sux), and our bill was cut by over 40%. We really wanted to stay with North state forever but they won't let us. This year we've had multiple outages. Two of those were Easter and Memorial weekends. 2 three day outages...WTF?!!! We call and go through the crazy troubleshooting crap they try and then they tell you "Due to the holiday weekend, our backlog and short staffing, it will be 3 to 4 days before a Tech can come out." When I asked if my bill would be adjusted for the outage that isn't my fault, "a manager would have to review that, not me" Oh that figures, they're short staffed on Techs but managers they have in abundance! It is a shame but as soon as I find another provider, they can kiss my money good by! read more

Don't do it, people! PLEASE, DON'T DO IT! I got the service on 8/31/18. From the time I got the service, Northstate prorated charges from 08/31 to 09/05. (There is no service charge for installation because they bill you from the very first day the service is installed.) After that, I was charged for the FULL month of September, starting 09/06/18 to 10/05/18. Now this was AFTER my rep offered me "no-extra-charge" upgrades. But even with the freebies, my bill was STILL higher than it was with Spectrum. Then, I had an issue with my enhanced dvr (a no-extra-charge upgrade that costs $79). It, for the life of it, would not play back my recorded shows. So, I contacted a live rep on 09/09/18 via the over-priced phone service. We do several tests and resets before deciding to reset the box remotely. The box died completely. I was able to watch tv before then, but now, my dvr was dead in the water. Guess what: they charged me for that. On top of that, a technician comes out to my house to replace my box on 09/12/18. And even though the box was tested by him and proven to be defective, THEY CHARGED ME FOR THAT! However, what REALLY pissed me off was how I thought that fiber optic service would be clearer... NOT! Most of their channels aren't even HD, even though the channels are clearly identified as HD channels. The picture quality on most channels is analog quality at best--quality you'd expect to see in the 1970s after attaching a coaxial cable to your set. AND THERE'S THIS GOD-AWFUL 4:9 RATIO LETTERBOX ON A LOT OF THE CHANNELS, LIKE INSP, JTV, MOST LOCAL CHANNELS, MeTV, to name only a few. To watch them full screen, you have to "stretch" them or "zoom" them. Oh, and don't expect any help from customer service. They just took your money and ran. read more

Excellent Speed, and Reliable. I was one of the first in my neighborhood to take advantage of North State's gigabit internet and it's everything I hoped it would be! I have used every other major ISP in the area and North State has been the best by far. read more

It's not the best WiFi but its reasonably cheaper! Plus my location doesn't have many towers to my understanding that's why the signal can be crappy! read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced and the "fiber" internet is currently the slowest internet I've ever experienced. I'm paying for 100/100 and getting 50/30 on a good day. I've called about this issue numerous times and I'm always told everything is "good." Well, after months of going back and forth, NorthState finally sent out a tech. When the tech arrived I learned he was actually a sales rep and his solution to the problem? I needed to upgrade my system and install NorthState's home mesh network. The sales rep said NorthState had 100% uptime and NEVER had any issues. The odd part was he said it with a straight face. Nothing is ever 100% and everything has issues. (Oh yea, NorthState waived the fee to come out to my house) BEWARE: NorthState will continue to bill you full rate while providing subpar internet service and no customer service. I'm switching back to Spectrum/Time Warner. They have subpar internet service but reliable customer service. read more

Overpriced, has a monopoly at my apartment complex, probably collusion with them. I have lived all over the United States and this is the worst service, options in both cable TV and internet! If you travel for business be careful they will shut you off if you area day late . Then they'll charge you over $100.00 to reconnect. I pay a few months in advance because I don't trust this organization. read more

What type Data company's office is closed for lunch and weekends. Overpriced service the people who paid for this service work unlike the office which is never open when it's convenient. Internet connection is constantly in and out and the tv is glitchy. I will never use this provider again. read more

Northstate TV: Lousy Programming. Mr & Mrs Smith; Salt; Sports from 2002; Duke versus Virginia in 1998; Blackhawk Down; Sanford and Son???!!! wow, gimme a break. I used to hear I can't find anything to watch. Oh didn't customers watch Looney Tunes, or Bugs Bunny? wow, you missed it. I have never seen 200 channels go by so fast with not a damn one that I rejected 10- 20 years ago. No wonder they have packages at a deal. Fair prices if you wanna follow the Stock or rather Sock market this year. Or the news which is 90% bad. Oh, 35-40% of the market doesn't watch after 9:30 so what is prime time North State? After 9-9:30, most have to go to work, put the kids to bed or just are healthy enough to know that shower, bed by 10:30 takes time. so forget prime time..it is an echo..from the past. Fire your programmers. Get with it or more will buy these new devices that avoid you, you know the Roku Sticks, Grab it; fire sticks, etc..you be left behind as your programming is at a 2005 right now. Internet down for two days in my area (Greensboro) and Northstate doesn't know what is wrong and can not provide a schedule of when they can investigate. Apparently they have outgrown their ability to service their prospects and clients. Slow internet that works (i.e. TWC) is far better than no service. They do have very nice customer service people who are able to warmly state that Northstate will fix it, but when?. Update: Alex (customer service) and Mitch (field tech) did a great job of getting us up and running....it took a few desperate calls but they stepped up and represented their company well. read more

They advertise 1Gb speed and they deliver under 100mb in SW area of Greensboro. Customer support says they cannot guarantee 1gb speed and if the speed goes below 100mb we should ask to have the contract changed. Currently at 65mb. This is the most shameless misrepresentation I've seen so far bar none. read more

If you are even just a day late on payment, they throttle your connection and it just keeps going in and out. Ridiculous.

I tried to get another quote. The quote took an hour to get. Then they couldn't get me a install time. They expect you to be available 5+ hours for the install. read more

I have experienced many times where the channel I'm watching will suddenly lose it's connection and therefore I miss the program. Their TV2GO has issues and when you ask for a timeline as to when things will be operational all you get is "we're working on it". Today (3/24/17) is the 4th day in a row this service (which is included with what I pay for) has not been available and for some reason they still cannot seem to fix the issue. I pay a lot of money for their subpar service but whenever customer service gets involved there doesn't seem to be much sympathy. read more
