First of all this…read moreplace always smells good when you pass by on the highway it is serious like road side barbecue! There are many options and their menu can be found on their facebook. I will say it is a little weather dependent unless you want to eat barbecue under the pavilion in the rain but personally I think barbecue is best enjoyed in sunny weather. I got the pulled pork dinner with extra bbq sauce and fruit salad and potato salad. My dad got the chicken dinner with salt potatoes and Mac salad. Both dinners came with 2 sides. First off the portions are very generous you definitely won't leave hungry. The pulled pork was delicious and was gone in like 5 minutes! In my opinion the potato salad was a little I guess thick but that's really just a preference thing it was still really good! The fruit salad was pretty basic melons and some strawberries nothing special but again still good. My dad is a big fan of the chicken and this is like his go to bbq spot. The service was good and quick there's really not much of a wait after you order and the grill is full and visible as you go to order. If somehow you still want more after you can go to Big Dipper ice cream literally less than 50 ft away. I paid just a little under $40 and I do think there's a cash discount and I also left a couple bucks for a tip and we got drinks. Overall if you're looking for good legit bbq this is the place to come.

Meat and most sides are gluten free! I did not realize this until specifically asking. Fast…read moreservice and delicious bbq.

It is totally take-out and there was a short line on the Saturday afternoon I went. They whip the food out very quickly and efficiently. I had the pork and a side of handcut fry's (a huge order in a paper bag). I am certainly not sorry I gave the spiedie a try!

For a small metro area largely unknown even elsewhere in it's own state, the Greater Binghamton…read morearea aka the Triple Cities (a historic nickname which referred to Binghamton and it's neighboring former cities turned villages of Johnson City and Endicott) punches wildly above it's weight with it's highly unique hyper-regional cuisine. Among the waves of immigrants brought to the area during it's numerous boom cycles, first as the world shoe-making capitol and later and the original home of IBM and other massive corporations, were Italians who developed among other dishes, the culinary pride of the region, the Spiedie. Skewered cubes of various meats, supposedly originally lamb but now more likely chicken and pork are marinated in a deliciously herbaceous, acidic and garlic heavy blend and spit cooked to perfection, and served in wonderfully crusty sub bread, it's served at bars, diners, pizzerias and elsewhere grilled up in backyard barbecues with store bought marinades at area groceries, and is so beloved it serves as the centerpiece of a annual "Spiedie-fest" food festival and competition. This decades old Endicott takeout institution with a few picnic tables outside and a glorious vintage mid-century sign is widely considered one of the Spiedie GOATS, and is an excellent spot to get a taste of the dish with an extra helping of local flavor. I sampled two of the smaller 6 inch subs one each of pork chicken. Both were marinaded to perfection and accompanied by some of the most perfectly crusty fresh made hero bread I can ever remember having which perfectly absorbed the gloriously flavorful marinade. Oddly enough and consistent with all my previous Spiedie experiences, somehow shockingly it was the chicken which was by far the juicier of the two proteins, while the pork was just the slightest bit on the dry side, although both were extremely tasty. I don't know if this has to due with the respective cuts of pork and chicken that are used for the Spiedies or some alchemy caused by the reaction between the chicken and the marinade, but I am hard pressed to think of another dish where the chicken would be the more juicy of the meats on offer. This curious fact was reinforced by the chicken being slightly more expensive than the pork option. Both were still astonishingly under 6 dollars each, reinforcing the reverse sticker shock you often encounter when seeing the low prices on menus when eating in the area. The merciful pricing continues across the menu, which offers a wide variety of non-spiedie options like Beef and Ham BBQ and Kielbasa subs, burgers and dogs, potato and macaroni salads and much more. I also grabbed a side of gloriously greasy fried pierogis along with my spiedies for $4.55, of which I was only able to enjoy one of due to how stuffed I was from the subs, before packing it up for a snack later. End result; massively delicious, supremely filling meal + leftovers and local anthropology study in one for $16 total.

A spiedie, (pronounced "speedy", ) famous in Binghamton, is simply a marinated chicken sandwich on a roll. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. I ordered a 6 inch sandwich. They have several different styles, but I simply went with the original. Oh, my, I can see why this sandwich has such a following. The sesame seed roll was tender, and oh the chicken... it was chock full of chicken, It was moist, it was tender, and yes, it was marinated very well. I don't know what they use, but it was just absolutely an amazing sandwich. A simple 6 inch sandwich, and I was stuffed. A sandwich and a soda, and I was 10 bucks and change out the door. Extremely reasonable. Thank you so much!

They are my personal favorite place in the area to get spiedies. They remodeled this old Pizza Hut building and moved across the parking lot into it a few years back, and their efforts definitely paid off. It can get quite busy in here, but the seating area is cozy, spacious, and comfortable enough to accommodate the traffic. Even when it is crazy busy, the staff does a wonderful job of keeping the line moving and getting your order to you in a timely manner. And the food is always delicious! If you're visiting Binghamton, you have to stop here to try some fantastic spiedies made the right way!

Y'all, they moved to Hallstead…read more Oh. My. Goodness. I cannot sing enough praises for this brewery. I have found, I think, only two of their beers that I wasn't keen on. The beers are always very well balanced, always gentle with a very distinct flavor (if you can imagine that), and always served with a smile. Try the Belgian Peach, if they have it. Or the midnight lager, which is a similar darkness to a Guinness, but you don't have to chew it. The (forgive me, I've forgotten what they named it) jalapeño beer is most definitely worth your time, if you're into that slight burn in your throat and belly. I've heard they to some excellent hard seltzers, too, but I'm always too excited to try the new beers to actually drink any seltzer. And when you're ready to eat, 2 Dogz has partnered with a BBQ joint worthy of being served with the best brewery in the area: Red Rock. Definitely try out their chicken, it will change your life (especially after a few of those midnight lagers). The staff adores dogs, so bonus points! There's a treat jar behind the bar, and they will absolutely coo over your pooch and bribe them with treats. If you're passing through or in the area and trying to find something interesting to put in your mouth, definitely try 2 Dogz. They're worth every penny.

The best BBQ I have had and I am from the south!…read more We tried the Full Texas (has all of the meats) with the potato salad, mac and cheese, cornbread, and a lemon curt tart. The tart was tangy, bright, not too sweet, and the bottom wasn't soggy at all. Excellent! As for the BBQ, all of the meats were so smoky and melt-in-your-mouth flavorful! I wasn't expecting to like the chicken, I typically go for brisket, but the chicken stole the show. It was moist and so full of flavor! Definitely my favorite! Closely followed by the brisket, then the ribs, then the pulled pork, and last, but not least, the chorizo/sausage. I also really liked the chimichurri sauce as well as the addition of pickles and pickled onions. They paired really well with the BBQ. I preferred the golden bbq sauce a over the classic bbq (sweeter and too smoky for me). Honestly didn't love the mac and cheese. It was a bit bland and would not recommend or order this again. However, the BBQ and everything else was so good that it makes up for the faults of the mac and cheese. Cornbread was solid- on the crumblier side and not sweet at all. I prefer my cornbread sweeter, but this was still good cornbread. I was pleasantly surprised by the potato salad on the other hand. I don't like potatoes in general because I find them to be too bland and chronically underseasoned. Much to my surprise, I rather liked this potato salad. I loved the addition of dill and green onions. This was really good with the BBQ. The interior is a bit lackluster and the building is unassuming. Everyone there was really friendly and helpful when deciding what to order though! Overall, I would highly recommend State Eatery! Incredible BBQ!
